Was not having a good day, for various reasons. Picked this place because it's only 15 minutes away from the campground at Navajo Dam state park.
By the time I was halfway through the house special of stacked enchiladas with an egg on top, I was a very happy camper!
I really like New Mexican food, and I've eaten a lot of it at some really good restaurants. The food here is easily as good as anything I've ever eaten. Both red and green chile ware excellent (and yes, if you don't like your chile hot, it's probably not a good choice of entree)
While I was about 3/4 done with my meal the waiter announced the cook had just taken a peach pie from the oven. Perfect timing and it was hands down the best pie of any flavor I've ever had (yes even better than home made Russian apple pie). Not overly sweet, and the crust was perfect.
You can see I don't leave many restaurant reviews even though I travel constantly and eat out a couple of times a week. The place has to be either really bad or really good before I feel it worth remarking on. These folks earned all 5 stars.
