Abitart Hotel

Disappointing service from a disappointing hotel. We needed a place to stay the night before we flew out of Rome and booked what seemed like a funky hotel with interesting decor. ||Post-booking the hotel sent my partner an email requesting to verify credit card information. My partner in turn in the same day responded requesting a secure portal - who would email credit card information via email? Bad idea!||No response from the hotel itself, however the following day an automated email came through reminding us of the reservation. It seemed like the issue just went away as soon as it arose. We did not follow up with the hotel as it seemed clear that it worked out.||This was not the case - we arrived only to have the front desk clerk inform us with a smirk that the reservation was canceled as they had not heard back from us regarding credit card information. Not sure how this was possible, see screenshots for email verification proof that we responded almost immediately. ||He meekly offered to find us different lodging as they were full for the night. We found an alternate faster than him - no blame to him as "abitart" wasn't getting our money that night as it is. Very frustrating and easily avoidable experience. ||Email management and credit card verification seems to be an issue for them.||In addition, Via Pellegrino Matteucci seemed overrun with not only graffiti but also litter strewn about the streets and sidewalks, including in front of 'abitart'. This carried onto Via Ostiense and the entire walk to the Ostiense train station - a sad welcome to a clearly lesser part of the Roman experience. ||I typically do not write google reviews (seriously!) but this one seemed too frustrating not to write. Good luck to those who do end up staying at 'abitart'! I won't lose sleep over them again.

Very decent hotel. The staff were brilliant. From the gentleman on reception to the breakfast staff and the room maintenance staff, they were lovely. The breakfast staff provided gluten free for my wife. Rooms were thoroughly cleaned each day. For someone who likes a soft bed, the beds may have been hard but we prefer a hard bed.

A little aways from Collisium & hubbub. But lovely & quiet. Nearby market & wonderful historic cemetery. Also close was a closed power plant converted to a museum housing statues & artifacts. Market & restaurants nearby also.

Funky hotel with a lot of character. Nice big room with a really comfortable bed. It was hard to tell exactly what we were getting from the website and the room did look significantly different to what we were expecting but it was still great. Staff were super friendly and the staff working at the service desk were super helpful with any questions we had about our stay or Rome in general!

Really lovely staff - everyone was nice. Had a themed suite. Super clean. But all the hotel needed refreshing - bit shabby in places. Need to replace some chipped furniture and paint the place. Would definitely stay again though.

Decent hotel, but I find it hard to understand how it's rated as a 4-star hotel. Looks nice and all, but the facilities are quite dated... Fair breakfast.

A perfectly adequate place from which to visit Rome. The rooms are unspectacular but clean and it's not noisy. The breakfast is again perfectly passable without being anything great. I paid around €120 per night, which is about right for being close to the centre of the city, but it's the upper end of what you'd want to pay for a place like this off season.||The area is pretty cool with lots of bars and restaurants and it's very close to Osiense station. All in all it did the job.

Rooms are comfortable and clean. The service is really nice and it is close to the Ostiensa station (that can go directly to the airport) and about 7 minutes walking from Piramide (blue line, where you can go literally to every single touristic place in Rome connecting to the Orange line). The breakfast is o.k., but nothing to brag about. It is a nice stay and the price is reasonable, on a nice location.

Just stayed here for two nights and so enjoyed this hotel. It's very basic, but clean and comfortable. Wifi is included, although it's sketchy coverage; this, however, is an issue throughout Rome, I don't know that this hotel can be held accountable for that! Breakfast is included in a sweet separate space that is across a small courtyard from the hotel and enclosed by windows. The gentleman at the front desk spoke a lot of English; others who didn't still worked with me to figure out what I needed and were very nice. A tip: Ask for a quiet room if sleep is an issue for you. When I was there it was a little warm so I slept with the windows open and since it's located near a bigger street, it stayed kind of loud into the wee hours. Had the window been closed I'm sure it wouldn't have been an issue.

I was trying to choose a hotel for our three day stay in Rome and it was so hard because there are just too many options, and honestly, it's Italy, and they all look so charming. I'm usually very careful in booking places in Europe in that I have to check out the neighborhood reviews, make certain it's safe, make sure it's very close to the metro, etc. but after seeing so many great hotels, this time I just bid on a four star and let the hotel choose me. When I first saw the pictures for Abitart online, I was disappointed because it's very modern, and I really wanted a classic Italian hotel. However, now that I've seen it, I like the modern lobby, and I lucked out with a classic Italian room *maybe they know Americans like this. The bathroom is spacious, and came with all of the toiletries and a blow dryer and bidet. There is a very nice restaurant directly adjacent, free wi-fi and free breakfast. I think I received a very good deal and would most definitely stay here again. Rather than take a taxi for seventy dollars, we took the FM1 metro line (which is the main metro line) from the airport for 8 euro, and we disembarked at Ostiense station. We had no idea which way to go from here (although it's a block away) so we stopped in a small store (several were open after 10 pm) and realized that everyone around the station knows hotel Abitart because it's pretty big, and it's in the center of a lot of great restaurants. I stayed three full nights and found it very quiet, the maid service was good and the free breakfast was nice for grabbing a quick yogurt and some fruit. I didn't have a car, but did notice that there was parking attached and a very nice restaurant right next door. It's a well-walked area at night, so we felt safe with our luggage and the check-in was so easy, even at close to 11 pm: they have a concierge on duty all night. I tried my beginner's Italian but they spoke perfect English and the hotel has everything we could possibly wish for except it does have very spotty internet. It's okay for sending an occasional email but not good if you need it for your work.

Very good location. Walking distance to many good places to eat and shop. Staff is very friendly and professional. Price is good too compared to similar type Hotels. I would absolutely stay here again.

- I paid for a suite, they put me in a regular room. - The manager tried to lowball me about refunding the difference. Only after my repeated insistence did they refund the correct amount. - Wifi did not work at all. The receptionist tried to convince me that the fault is with my computer. My computer connects to wifi flawlessly everywhere else. - Their own website lists the distance from the train station to be 200m. In reality, it's 500m. Not a trivial difference when you are hauling luggage. 4-star hotel? I don't think so. For your own sake, stay away from this hotel.
