Abrantes Bakery & Pastry Shop

One of the few remaining traditional Portuguese bakery in our area. Family owned and still managed by the family. Since my trip to Portugal in 2022 this has become my go to place to purchase hard to find items. Friendly and pleasant location with great fresh rolls and other items. I’ve become a repeating customer.

Morning fresh Portuguese bread, yum! Was still warm right out of the oven. If you like breads, this place is a must.

My husband and I have been coming to this bakery for years! Best bread! Fresh out of the oven is amazing!! We love the pastries as well!! And fabulous customer service! They know us when we walk in and have a bag of bread ready to go!! This is our go to Portuguese bakery for sure!

I use to go to this place as a kid all the time after school which was right down the street. Mind you this was back in the early 90s. I don’t know about now but when I would go they had the best sugar donuts they were always fresh and there chocolate eclairs were amazing. They also had some bomb chocolate chip cookies. I guess I never realized it was a Portuguese bakery. Nonetheless this place bring back childhood memories and I’m glad it’s still there.

What we asked for is on the left and what we got is on the right!!! 3 days before the event we called for this order, everyone else said they needed 2 weeks notice. Not only did they fulfill our order, but they delivered it too!! We got almond cake with French vanilla filling. The entire cake was edible. The cake had a lot of weight to it. The cake was moist and flavorful even after refrigerating it. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

I wish there was a 10 star rating!!! By far the most amazing artists to ever grace a cake . I was at loss for having a cake for my daughter's sweet 16 . I reached out to a good friend and he recommended me to them . I sent a picture of what I wanted and got exactly the same thing ,im.very picky and this is the first transaction this year the exceeded my expectations. Amazing people and very understanding and helpful .if you get a cake made anywhere else you are missing out . I will make excuses to order cakes now that I've seen and tasted the best cakes as well as the best customer service .

Had fresh Portuguese rolls and coffee here this morning. I cannot wait to go back. The shop is compact compared to others I have gone to, but good things come in small pkgs. I watched the morning news in Portugues

I been coming here for years love the Portuguese bread and coffee. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Peach strawberry cake was the best thing I had from here. It had nice bits of fruit rolled in it. Cheese danish looked excellent, but tasted ok. Overall its a nice little bakery, with limited items.

I see this bakery's bread and rolls at other markets -. It is that good. I went there on Good Friday for a coffee and toasted roll. They had about ten huge Easter baskets on table for sale. Bakery was decorated festively for the holiday. I was tempted to but a bag of cookies imported from Portugal, will soon.

Excellent Portuguese bakery located on Park St. in the Portuguese section of Hartford. They have a nice fresh daily selection of cupcakes, cookies, pastries, breads, rolls, beware though they tend to sell out quickly. I picked up a loaf of Portuguese cornbread which is quite different in flavor and texture than conventional cornbreads, it has become one of my favorites. Stop by and give them a try; if you've not had a pastel de nata it is a Portuguese egg tart pastry which they do supremely well also.

Stopped in for a coffee this morning and ended up leaving with that, an almond danish, and Portuguese rolls. The danish had a nice flavor but I think the humidity took some of its freshness. The rolls were amazing, perfectly crispy on the outside and soft inside. I liked the coffee. I would definitely stop in again but take less sugar in my coffee.

One of the many small unassuming businesses on Park Rd, this Portuguese bakery is charming and makes tasty baked goods. I bought a donut, various breakfast pastries, a Portuguese egg tart, and a pre-packaged bag of raisin rolls. The donut was the plain, sugared kind, which was pleasant albeit unexciting. The breakfast pastries were all similar and only mildly sweet, which seems to be the theme with Portuguese baked goods from this newbie's perspective. I wasn't keen on the raisin rolls, mostly because there were just so many raisins, and they all seemed to be soaked in some kind of booze. The egg tart was cold and stale, which was disappointing. Prices were reasonable, and service was brisk and friendly. Parking is tricky. There's a few nearby street spots and a narrow driveway. I parked in the driveway and got blocked in by another customer, so just be aware when stopping in.

I was on a food crawl in this area, and on whim decided to come here. Portuguese run bakery. This place is nice and clean, and in the back where the employees bake all their goods, looks big and industrial. They have some good looking pastries here. I ordered a cod fish cake, and a fried shrimp cake. I wish they were heated, because I would have enjoyed it more, but never the less happy that such place existed. I have a place to come to very often.

A perfect little Portuguese bakery that we've been frequenting on Sundays forever. When we go here, we usually get a bag full of papo secos (Portuguese rolls), some goat cheese (if we didn't all ready buy it at the fish shop next door), a dozen pastéis de nata (egg tarts), éclairs, a jar of tremoços (lupini beans), and special tinned tuna in oil. All very delicious, and they have a bunch of other pastries there as well, all of which look absolutely tempting. But since our main focus is the bread, we haven't branched out into them too much. Maybe I will on my next visit. :) They also sell prosciutto here if you don't wanna venture into the fish shop next door. Eat it on a papo seco with some goat cheese. You're welcome. ^_^

Very nice service, delicious bread and really good cheese. I liked their donuts too, they are huge and taste freshly fried. I will come back again and again.

Great bakery. Love the "bollas de Berlim" and the corn bread. Traditional Portuguese corn bread!!!

Great pastries and the best donuts. Rolls and bread are very good, better than most, but a little heavier than my adopted Tia makes. Everything else is bang on the money.
