Where to Stay in Boston When You Visit (Updated 2025)

"I like this four-star option for its convenient access to the MBTA Green Line, 24-hour fitness center, business center, private parking, and spacious, airy rooms with desks; it’s a solid pick if you want to use Marriott points." - Matthew Kepnes

I’ve stayed at this hotel multiple times over the past two years, and I’m disappointed with the amenities offered, regardless of my Bonvoy status. There’s no concierge lounge, valet parking, or complimentary breakfast. Even basic room amenities like mouthwash and body lotion are missing. Parking is an additional $45 per night, and a new $25 daily destination fee has been added. The rooms are noisy due to the frequent train and traffic, and you can hear the sounds of neighboring rooms. The bar area is small and usually staffed by only one person. Food is available, but the wait times vary significantly. During a recent weekend stay, my wife and I planned to order cocktails at the bar. However, all the available floor seating was cluttered with empty bottles, glasses, and dishes. The bar seating was full, and after standing at the bar for over 20 minutes, my wife and I decided to give up on ordering cocktails.

Rooms: 5|Service: 3|Location: 3 The rooms are not bad actually. Even though walls are very thin, (seriously, you could hear someone fart or speak in the next room) they now have good white noise machines to help drown out the noise. My only complaint this time is that every time I visit this hotel, the breakfast is a hot mess. They run out of food, coffee mug, etc., and the utensils are on a separate table and have to be handed to you. Why?

A new, cozy, and clean hotel, but: • Parking costs $45 per day, and it’s not even valet. It’s not included in the rate for long stays, and there are no alternatives nearby. • On the third day, I asked them to change our bed linens and mop the floors — I was completely ignored. They only emptied the trash and replaced the towels. • There’s a large dumpster right outside the hotel, and as you can imagine, in summer the smell is quite unpleasant. • A railway line runs nearby, and at night it can be impossible to sleep because of the noise. • The soundproofing is terrible — we could hear all our neighbors from every side. • They also charge $25 per day for some kind of “credit,” but it’s unclear what exactly it’s for. You can supposedly spend it in the lobby, bar, or on breakfast — otherwise, it just expires. Doesn’t this violate consumer rights? This charge wasn’t mentioned at the time of booking, and I didn’t give consent for my money to be managed in this way. However, there are also some pros: • The staff is sweet and polite • The hotel is new and feels fresh • There’s a wonderful café with delicious food right across the street

As a Bonvoy Titanium member for over a decade, I have been to many many Marriott hotels. However, the AC Hotel in Cleveland Circle is different - from the moment you arrive, you are warmly greeted by the staff - especially Aimee H. and Karina B. who were exceptional to my family! Aimee and Karina each took the time to tell us extensively about the features of this beautiful hotel and surrounding area next to Boston College |||Thank you Aimee and Karina for being so kind to my family during our stay !

I’ve been staying at this hotel for 6-8 times over the last year for both business and pleasure. This is a bare bones hotel and if you have status at Marriott it gets you nothing here. No concierge lounge or free breakfast. The rooms are OK but the bathroom offers no privacy for when you’re staying with someone else. There are zero amenities in the room as well. No mouthwash, body lotion, etc. They charge $45/night for parking and they just introduced a Daily Destination Fee of $25/night. This is $70 in fees before you even get the room rates which range in the $299/night. No matter your Bonvoy status it gets you nothing here.

Parking is $45 a day. That's criminal considering that you can find a parking garage in the city for overnight parking for less than $45. Look on SpotHero and you can find safe and easy overnight parking for less than $20 most nights. Some of the spots are a bit of a walk but it's worth it to save the money. Housekeeping is minimal. Housekeeping doesn't actually clean your room each day. They simply empty out the garbage. Why are the rates minimal to match the minimal level of service? There's also a $25 destination fee. Lastly, the rooms themselves are noisy as is the location. As other people have mentioned, this location faces train tracks. I live in a big city and am quite used to noise about the rooms seem to have absolutely no soundproofing. It's more than obvious that management is doing the absolute bare minimum here yet charging maximum rates, especially for parking, breakfast and the destination fee. It's a shame that Marriott has allowed their brand standards to sink so extraordinarily low.

We’ve stayed here several times and been satisfied with the rooms and location. We never had a room by the tracks, can’t speak to the noise. But this trip we find they have put plastic mattress covers on the beds, and it feels like you’re sleeping on a blow-up pool float. I am actually lying in bed in the hotel right now, it is squeaking with every movement and giving a hot, unhygienic feeling. Gross, cheap, uncomfortable, and we won’t be back.

Disclaimer: I gave 'Rooms' a 5 because our event room was lovely, but we did not stay in the guest rooms so I have no feedback to provide there. I attended the graduation dinner event for Washington Square Academy at this hotel last week, and I think the team did a lovely job as hosts. My background is in hospitality, so my standards are high, and they cleared the bar with ease. There were no tech mishaps or need for creative solutions. The staff was friendly and welcoming, the space was clean and inviting, and the food was well presented/well monitored/and quickly cleared all without causing a disruption to the event proceedings. I would absolutely recommend the AC Hotel Boston Cleveland Circle if you're looking to host a 80-100 person event that sets a classy and welcoming tone. Great job, team!

Yelp
The AC hotels are a nice, modern, and clean hotel option that's affordable. The parking lot is located right in front and had plenty of space when I stayed. Rooms: clean, modern design. Pillows were a little more flat. Showers did not get hot and the pressure wasn't very good. They got warm at best. Destination fee includes a $25 credit for food. The breakfast buffet was $19 and had cereal, oatmeal, frittatas, and chia pudding. It was just OK. I tried the burger at the lounge and it was pretty greasy. Gym: included 3 treadmills, 2 bikes, 2 benches, a weight rack, and 3 yoga balls. I like how there's separate rooms for the weights and bikes for a small area. It helps provide a little bit of privacy for a small space

Yelp
This review is for the bar/lounge. We wanted to grab some apps and/or dessert after an event at BC. Very few options after 9pm. One person in our group was staying at the hotel so we decided to check it out. The bar/lounge area was comfortable- a few in our party had dessert and others had appetizers. Bartender was friendly. Enjoyed the prosciutto with tomato toast (sans greens) and the lava cake with vanilla gelato. Others enjoyed tiramisu, ancient grains salad and olives. Nice wine list. Free parking. Kitchen was open until 11pm. Food taste and quality was great.

Yelp
This hotel is interesting in many ways. First off the entrance to it is not on the street side but you have to walk towards the back of the building area. They have valet parking as the parking area is right in the back area. The staff here is nice and the lobby area is probably the nicest area. The hallways as mentioned in previous reviews are dark. I had trouble seeing the room numbers. Walked into my room and at first I was like ohh it's nice which it is but it was overlooking the train tracks that the T is on. So It was a bit loud throughout the night. I recommend not to overlook them. The AC was interesting as it would turn on and off all day/ night and it was loud when it would go on so, It kept me up. The mini fridge also was making some odd sounds throughout the night. Walls, ceilings, and floors are thin. It seems like I heard clearly people talking/ laughing and stomping around above me. When I looked at the ceiling there was. a little spot where it looks like a bus was killed and then kinda smudged or something like that. The black out curtain was kinda falling apart up top I saw as well. When I checked into my room one of the night stand drawers was open, not sure why. Pillows and bed were not my cup of tea. Also, there are no overhead hanging lights. Just alot of lamps and a bit too many light switches. I kept getting confused what switch was for what lights. When I was exploring the lobby area, they had nice areas to sit, do work, catch up with friends. They also have meeting rooms. The gym is nice but also on the dark side. They have two small private rooms to do on demand workouts and a stretching room. Though I will say it felt like a mini work out getting there as it seemed to be on the other end of the hall of the hotel. In the front of the hotel they have a little store where you can buy drinks, snacks and anything you may need or forgot. I did not have any of the food that they provided and I do not think they have room service well atleast late at night as I asked last night and they said I could do ubereats. The bar area looked nice as you can see in my pictures. There is a little outdoor area on the side of the hotel where guests can enjoy a cup of coffee or a meal. All in all, I am not rushing back to stay here but if I am in need of a hotel room for any reason and others are sold out then maybe I will.

Yelp
Horrible overpriced hotel. Room is not very clean and room HVAC does not work well. In summer very hot when entered room takes forever to cool down and does not maintain temperature throughout night. Cycles through being too cold or too hot. Also can hear noise from floor above. To add insult, they tack on fee that was not disclosed or agreed to after checkout. They also jack up rates whenever there are events at BC. For $200/night this hotel might be acceptable but for $300-$500 not so much. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.

Yelp
The room was clean and modern. I like the touches of the shelves in the shower. Upon arrive, valet was friendly and started to get my ticket ready before I got into the building. The from desk was prompt on handing me my key with a smile (did online check in). They also have two tiny water bottles in the room for you which is great and the amount of lighting opens and places to put stuff was appreciate. Now for some negatives: the floors are thin. The person above me is a Clydesdale I'm sure. I also tend to walk heal heavy and have to pay attention to how I'm walking so I don't bother the people below me. It's also right next to a train track. It isn't SUPER loud but I'm a light sleeper/sound sensitive so a little bummer. BUT, The coolest thing is they have a white noise machine IN THE ROOM! I have never seen this anywhere (and I travel a lot for work) and absolutely love that, as some who sleeps with white noise! I also went downstairs about ten (bar closes at 11) to get some food to bring back to the room. The bartender wasn't overly friendly. Like, not rude, just more interested in a couple regulars/friends at the end of the bar. The burger was nothing to write home about. The bacon jam was good, but it needed more and I ordered it medium and it was definitely well done. The patty itself looks like a pre made frozen patty because it was far too uniform in size. Totally edible but not "great".

Yelp
The overall Yelp rating of 3.5 stars is about right for this Marriott run property. We found some of the numerous things other Yelpers said about this place to be true and some inaccurate, at least for our visit on this trip: (1) room walls dirty (some, but not awful in the bathroom), (2) mattress cover/bed sheets dirty (NO), (3) room and hotel itself very dark even with all lights on in room (YES), (4) train runs right next to hotel rooms on one side of the hotel (YES), but the train did not run during sleeping hours at night and has the equivalent sound of a loud passing car, not a large train, (5) hotel has a small, but adequate, although dimly lit gym (YES), (6) the walls, doors, floors, and ceilings are paper thin so that you can hear all sorts of noise outside your room (YES), but people were not excessively loud on our visit, (7) they have a breakfast buffet with hot and cold food for about $20 (YES), and (8) housekeeping staff/front desk was unresponsive to cleaning and towel refreshing requests (UNSURE, did not try). For the cleanliness issues, it seems those Yelpers may have had an unfortunate and unusual experience that hopefully others, like us, did not have. As other reviewers mentioned, the hotel is a modern one and not a historic one as some are in the area. Additionally, there is a train stop very near the property for easy access to downtown or other areas. There is also a CVS and several restaurants within walking distance. The front desk staff were very nice as was the man who ran the breakfast buffet. The buffet itself is just a step up from the complimentary breakfasts that are included at other properties. It is not really worth the $20 as there are better and cheaper places to eat within walking distance. We did not have a need to eat here on this trip, but we would only do so and recommend doing so if you are in a hurry and need to eat fast. Some of the housekeeping staff that we interacted with was not very friendly until tipped and then they acted civilly instead of coldly, not hospitably. As at most Marriott properties, the most important thing was that the mattress was not worn out, was of good quality, and gave us a good night night's sleep. Tips: (1) our camera may have compensated for the low lighting in our pictures and made things look brighter than they were, (2) complimentary water is available in the gym, (3) when facing the street from the parking lot in the back, the train is on the right side of the hotel, so try to ask for a room to the left side away from the train tracks, this will be behind you when facing the front desk when you check in, the train is in front of you when facing the front desk when you check in Overall, this place was adequate and we stayed here due to pricing and proximity to the things we needed to do on our trip. If in the area again, we would probably try to find other accommodations, but if they had the best price, it would not be awful to stay here again. The hotel can improve by cleaning the walls in the bathrooms, changing the lighting in the rooms and common areas to be brighter, and better training the housekeeping staff to be friendlier.

Yelp
In town to visit our daughter and husband. Typically stay at the Marriott at Coolidge or at Copley but thought we'd try this new offering. Apparently the hotel is one year old. T Lines are easily accessible. Parking was valet $40/night. Steep we say. Staff were simpatico and all smiles. At check in we were upgraded to a King Suite, a corner room. Nice. The room is large and decorated in a clean, modern fashion. Plenty of room for the two of us and the double sinks were a nice feature. Our room #442, was at the end of the floor with corner views. Mostly trees and other buildings as well as T cars as our views. Quiet to sleep. Except the room a/c was louder than one would expect in a new property. My wife did not like the opaque door for the bathroom as you could always see the light through the door. Fancy but not discreet. We had breakfast in the lobby. A very nice set up with just about anything you could want. We sampled the buffet then got a couple of the egg dishes they were delicious. $18 each. Service was excellent. We were here from Friday-Sunday. The property was not crowded. There were a bunch of meeting rooms and a decent looking fitness center. Might be a good venue for a corporate meeting. A nice place. A bit different decor wise and food offerings were well done. Not a typical Marriott. We will stay here again when in town. Nancy & Mark.

Yelp
Stayed there about a month ago. Was not told there would be a $45 fee for parking. The guest folio didn't include it the next day. It was a few days later when the hotel charged me $45 separately. No one throughout all of my interactions mentioned there would be a charge for parking. Tried to resolve it with the hotel, but they said it's a third party vendor that parks cars. Definitely won't stay there again.

Yelp
AC Hotel is a modern hotel in quiet Cleveland Circle, out of the way of the hustle and bustle of downtown Boston, but near enough public transportation to bring you anywhere you would like! The staff with AC is very friendly. I was originally placed in a room near the elevator, and when I asked to be moved further down the hall, the staff happily obliged. When I came down the elevator at 6am in search of coffee, the staff brought me to the breakfast room, where I could fill up on complimentary coffee (I skipped the breakfast). The rooms are modern, clean, and quite large. Amenities include hairdryer, iron, and everything else you would need for a single or multi night stay at the hotel. My only complaint was that the room was not well lit, even with every single light turned on.

T S.

Yelp
Our room was not made up during our entire stay, even though we were told that the rooms were done once per 3 days. (We stayed 5 nights.) We asked the front desk to replenish the towels and such. Nothing happened, ever. I also reported that our floor was filthy. I was in bare feet in the room for an hour and a half, and the shower had cascades of black from my feet when I got into it. Nothing was done about this. The iron in the room spewed a stain all over the outfit I was planning to wear the next day for business. This was costly to me. My sink (one of two, which is a nice feature) was somewhat clogged. The drain cover popped off, revealing a spiral of gross hair. The gym has minimal weight equipment. Dumbells, barbells, and one bench, which is broken. The hand sanitizer dispenser was empty. This hotel has every sign of being poorly managed. Alas.

Yelp
First let me start with the good. Amazing staff. So friendly and attentive. Well appointed room. Excellent shower. Lots of nice touches. BUT horrible lighting in the room. Confusing conHousekeeping forgot to clean my room one day. And the $40 per day valet parking was outrageous. The lot was empty and right there. Love the hydration station. And the location. Update - I stayed here again. I still think the $40 parking is ridiculous. And the guy who checked me in was clueless But the overall hotel experience was excellent. Great room. Great amenities. Valet guys were attentive. Felt comfy and secure. Much nicer than the courtyard down the street. Will definitely stay here again. (Not crazy about Cleveland circle as compared to Coolidge corner)

Tilly A.

Yelp
The receptionists were very friendly. The valet fee is a bit outrageous(the workers are cool tho) bathroom was the only well litt place. Also what kind of hotel has no microwave? At least have a working coffee maker (was that for decoration) The house keeping personell left the iron board out. Had to figure out how to get it out of the way. I had an amenity sent up the previous night. They "cleaned" the room and left the leftovers still in the room I don't think I'll be coming back here. I've had better experiences at other locations these folks could do better.
google avatar

Nick N.

Yelp
Great hotel! Very clean with a modern design. No carpets!!! yay!!!! I would say this is a minimalistic, modern, European design. Reception was amazing. They were very busy last night (our first night) and there was no parking spots available. The from desk gentleman (forgot his name) moved his car and offered me his space. That, my friends, is what customer service is all about. That simple gesture made me feel welcomed and appreciated and guaranteed I will be coming back here when back in Boston. This is my new go to hotel here.
google avatar

Mike R.

Yelp
This is a very nice, newly built hotel. It's very close to 2 T stops which makes it very convenient to get into town. However, I somehow missed that parking is valet only, and an extra 40.00 a night. The valet guys were nice and efficient, but the added fee felt a little smarmy. The other reason for only 3 stars was that, while the room was nice, the door to the bathroom was made of frosted glass. So if someone goes in there in the middle of the night, and turns the light on, it spills into the entire room. And the glass door is in rollers and was noisy as hell. Not a good design for a hotel.
google avatar

Yelp
Awesome experience. I am Platinum member with Marriott and have never stated at one of the AC hotels. This was my first time. Staff was great, room and facility absolutely beautiful. So many nice details in the room. Very functional as a business traveler while resembling a work of art.

Yelp
The family is here for a few days to do college tours. The hotel is new, clean, friendly staff, very nice room/bath and conveniently located in Cleveland Circle. We definitely be back again in the future.
google avatar

Jordan P.

Yelp
Modern and nice hotel! It's brand new. Great amenities. Nice public spaces. Keyless door locks. Close to Cleveland Circle.
google avatar

Sara E.

Yelp
They do not tell you that you have to pay for parking until you get there. It's $40 for overnight valet parking and there are no other options except to find parking on the street, which is totally full. And there are no signs that say the breakfast costs extra money and they only tell you once you've sat down and started eating. Ridiculous. Will never come back. If they had given warning, anything in advance then it would have been okay. But they were sleezy about it.

Anonymous S.

Yelp
Never staying here again. The rooms have walls that are paper thin and I got charged multiple times for the same purchase and they told me there was nothing they could do despite me having all of my receipts. Worst Boston experience ever. Save your money and the hassle of paying for parking and stay somewhere else. Even if it cost more it'll be better then this money pit.

Chad W.

Yelp
Beautiful modern hotel with incredible attention to detail. It is modeled after other high-end hotels we visited in Europe. The spacious rooms have beautiful views of the cityscape with plenty of room to stow suitcases off the ground. The front desk staff was kind and attentive with several requests (we were traveling with six children). Snacks in the bar area were delicious and customer service was excellent. The breakfast buffet looked like a wonderful European spread, but we opted for a quick breakfast on the go. The AC Marriott is located across the street from a trolley terminal and several shops/restaurants. We went to Dunkin Donuts, Eagle's Deli and Restaurant (great burgers), and CVS for necessities.
