Yelp
Maui's Southside Gem
Our family of four, with two teen girls, recently stayed at the AC Hotel Wailea a couple of weeks ago for our annual spring holiday. As usual, the friendly staff and its superb South Maui location are why we stay in this boutique Marriott property time and time again.
The staff is warm, friendly, helpful, and full of aloha. Say hello to Jenver at the front desk when he welcomes you in. He went above and beyond to ensure our stay was extra special, upgrading us to a room with a pool view and cabana rental.
This hotel is not too big and not too small. It's just the right size where you can enjoy the relaxing feel of Maui. There is a $35 parking charge on the property per day. You might say it's a bit steep, but think of it as the equivalent of the resort fee that most hotels in the area charge.
If you don't like crowds and overcrowded beaches, you should consider staying here. Beaches like Polo, Keawakapu, and Ulua are minutes away even on foot! Plus, The Shops at Wailea is a quick stroll down the hill, and coffee shops, shopping, and dining options are within walking distance. Pro tip: Island Gourmet Market offers fresh island fare, which is perfect to start your day.
Jenver upgraded our family to room 222 on the first floor, facing the swimming pool. The room was spacious for a family of four, clean, and smelled fresh when we entered--a perfect place to unwind after a long travel day across the Pacific. The pool, lounges, and cabanas are steps away from the lanai--quite a bonus.
Pro Tip: Jenver also reserved our family a cabana, and we picked cabana #1, closest to the bar. For us, it was the perfect location. It's planted away from the hot tub and the larger section of the pool, offering privacy and quiet time. If you're still at the cabana right around sunset, be on the lookout for a breathtaking view of West Maui and Wailea Beach as you look off the distance beyond the infinity pool.
If you're looking for lodging options in Maui, we highly recommend the AC Hotel, whether you're traveling as a family or as a couple. From experience, aloha is the language they speak.
