Google
I'd give this hotel about 3.5 stars. The AC Hotel in Westport was fine for our one night stay but I don't think I'd stay longer than that. The room was clean and the air conditioning worked great. The bathroom is really small and has one of those big glass doors that doesn't actually shut all the way. Sink and mirror are basically in the room, which is just odd. The room just feels pretty stark. The area near the elevator smelled kind of musty and one of the two elevators was being worked on. The front desk staff however were super friendly and helpful and we liked the gated parking. Location is great and I'd stay here again for one night if we needed to stay in Westport.

We stayed here two nights and we really liked the location. Here are some of the positives for this hotel: - inexpensive parking on site - comfortable room - beautiful lobby Here are a few negatives: - we would have liked more light in your room (small window) - difficult thermostat to manipulate when we felt hot in the middle of the night - the bar offered very few liquors - only one elevator worked Overall, it was a comfortable stay, and I would stay here again.

We decided to take a spontaneous trip to KC from Des Moines and it was quite late when we called- the staff was incredibly helpful with reservations and was more than happy to have us check in even as late as 2am to accommodate us. Once we got there we had to go in to check in before parking…this is when it started going downhill.. you are required to pay $15 a night to park in THEIR OWN parking lot. We got things sorted, parked, and I will say it was a secure parking lot so that was nice to have- then we got to the room..or the first room rather-the deadbolt on the door did not work and there was a really large fly in the room flying around. We went to the front and told them it was not working and that we didn’t feel safe staying in it..they gave us a different room and we thought all was well..needless to say we were wrong. I will say the AC worked wonderfully and the rainfall shower was great but when I say the beds were HORRIBLE I am not exaggerating..the beds were thinner and lumpy we were able to feel the springs so sleeping well was not a thing..the sheets were horrendous and someone NEEDS to tell them fabric softener is a thing because if you were to have me feel sand paper and those sheets blindfolded.. I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. When we checked out the woman was nice, cordial, apologized for the issue with the door, and thanked us for staying. Overall it was a bit of a let down and we will likely not be staying again.

Google
Avoid at all costs. Rooms and hotel in general are somewhere between warmed-over and stark. Security in the fenced parking lot is a mirage; man gate access doesn't lock, no in-person security presence, camera coverage of parking lot is unknown by desk personnel. My car was broken into overnight in an attempt to steal the car. Window shattered, was parked about 50 feet from the front desk windows. Clerk said she didnt think the camera covered that area, and only the KCMO police could request their video (I could not). No offer to do anything to offset my situation; I had to ask to at least have the charge for "secure parking" ($15/night) removed. They should have comped the room charges as well. Don't stay here. I'll never make that mistake again.

Google
This was my first visit to Kansas and my first stay at this hotel. Unfortunately, it was a terrible experience. The room was extremely stuffy – the windows were sealed shut and there was no proper ventilation. The shower had such weak water pressure that it was impossible to wash my hair properly. The phone to contact the front desk was broken, the hair dryer didn’t work, and there wasn’t even a single wardrobe or nightstand to put my things on – I had to keep everything in my suitcase the whole time. Definitely not worth the stay.

Google
I was in town for work and had to extend my trip a couple times. It was a pretty busy week for hotels, and rates were high and rooms were booking up fasr, but Theresa helped ensure i was able to extend my stay and avoid switching hotels. Great service and definitely will stay again when I'm in town.

Google
Fell far below our expectations. Most annoying was parking. They charge you $15 per night to stay at their hotel in their gated parking lot! The breakfast for $10 is no better than the free ones offered at other hotels. They did offer a selection of cheeses. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Their stic is to imitate European hotel styles with an austere style.

Google
Parking is 15 dollars. I had the TV on 30 volume at 9 pm and I had a man bang on my door and attempt to open my hotel room from the outside. I was eventually called on the phone where the worker tried to gaslight me into saying nobody tried to open my door. Horrible customer service and I will not be coming back.

Yelp
Booked a last minute reservation for one night after a less than ideal Airbnb experience. We were about 30 minutes early for check in and were luckily able to go to our room. Parking is free and easy. The front desk buzzes you in and out. Our room was great! Clean and spacious with a super comfortable bed and a couple waters in the fridge. Only downside was lighting situation took me a bit to figure out. But that was definitely a me thing. What really solidified the five stars was the staff. We had interactions with three different people and they were all incredibly friendly and accommodating, answering questions and helping with a smile.

Yelp
The room is likely fine if you don't look closely for cracks and weird handprints on the walls. They clearly don't give housekeeping the needed support to actually clean rooms (I pulled off a comforter that got a spill and they put it back and folded the stain out of eyesight), I can't be sure I was given fresh sheets during my stay. I'm not sure when continental breakfast stopped being included in guests stay (or if that was always a charge for this franchise) I'm taking 3 stars off for the lack of clear and explicit communication about an additional charge for using the buffet. It did not scroll across the tv (or be said by the narrator) that was on when I arrived -minus one star. There were NO printed notices in my room giving this kinda information -minus one star. There was NO sign about it (the sign posted was a welcome/we're open sign) and the staff who pestered us about room number and a headcount DID NOT give a direct answer when asked if we'd need to pay for our food -minus one star. Please search through the tv menu information if you decide to stay here and make use of amenities to find hidden price tags

Yelp
If the deficiencies noted were corrected I could have easily justified 4 stars. The AC Hotel in Westport is a franchise venue, operated by an independent company mandated to adhere to Marriott standards. We were not familiar with the Westport district but found it very accommodating as there is a full-service super market across the street as well as many eateries, bars and other businesses. Staff was pleasant and very professional. Check-in was a breeze (I used the app). Our room was more than adequate. Internet was solid, no interruptions. We did not use they gym or the bar as well as the breakfast $15). The AC did not a couple of notable deficiencies but they were not deal-killers or issues which created a negative impact: 1. There are two elevators but during our stay only one was operable. 2. As for snacks, the marketplace had minimal selections. 3. The property has a Van on the premises but it was inoperable. I was told they did not have a driver. 4. I am not against the modern bathroom appliances but there is something to be said about functionality. The shower looks nice and there are plenty of hand-rails, however there is nothing on the shower floor to prevent slips, so at a minimum I would suggest mgmt. simply add something to insure your step is solid. Overall, we had a good stay and would stay again, primarily due to its proximity to places we visit. I do not have any pictures to share but I did an aerial view of the property which can be seen via Instagram. https://www.instagram.com/p/CrcZdjGAzhn/

Yelp
If there was a negative review I would give it. Just approaching the hotel you could tell it was not going to be a good experience. The parking lot and entry up to the hotel was super dirty and unkept. This hotel is filthy the carpets in the main areas are all stained. Then you find out the bar is not open and there is no food... we get to our room to find utter filth. I was totally creeped out by this hotel and I am so incredibly surprised by this chain. All the others I have been too are very nice. This one is so bad to the point I am not sure I will even consider another one in case it happens to be like this place. Not only is the the shower filthy it was extremely slick and it did not drain. It was a walk in shower with standing water which I did slip in. This is so not ok AC Marriott! Shame on you!!' The hotel is ridiculously loud too. So much noice all around inside and out! I really am very sad. I would have just gotten up at 4am and driven from home next time if this is the accommodations...

Yelp
Just have to say John the bartender makes the best cocktails! Flaming old fashions and lemon drops that are to die for! Great location, close to bars...walking distance. Clean hotel with NO carpets!

Yelp
It's not the best Marriott that's for sure. I was happy with the lobby but the hallway need cleaned bad!!! Also I get leaving trash bags outside of a room door but it's 1pm in the afternoon that should not be there! Parking seems very cramped and not secured for the type of area this is. The rooms AC was doing the Job but working overtime to keep it 70. They did try to make the rooms feel European but I think they tried too hard. And things seem too oddly placed other then that it just seemed like a normal "high mileage" hotel room. I will say we will probably not be back to this hotel in the future. Simply because there isn't anything that would bring us back or make us want to stay here again. In my opinion

Tina R.

Yelp
Hotel is in a nice location located near many restaurants & bars. Website stated there was a restaurant on site which has been closed for a while and they did not update the website. They also state there is a bar open every day 5pm, but that is only when the bartender shows up.....which on my stay, was not often.

Yelp
I normally stay in hotels weekly for work. This AC hotel is way below the standards of other AC hotels. Maybe it's COVID, but you'd expect the hotel to be even cleaner due to COVID... First and foremost. The staff do not enforce a mask policy. A man stepped on the elevator without a mask and I was incredibly uncomfortable. Save yourself from COVID and stay anywhere else. Our room was covered in filth. Sequins on the floor from previous stays. Rings of water or fluids on the desk. Hair hanging from the sheets that was not my hair color. Asked for lotion. Didn't bring lotion.

Ladyoodog ..

Yelp
My experience staying at AC Marriot Westport was great A.J. at the front desk was helpful and knew all the details of the room. Thanks to Renee who was so pleasant and great conversation with her on my checkout. we had our bikes and I was worried about being parked overnight in lot . but they made sure that they were watching them. I will absolutely be back and recommend staying there to anyone.

Yelp
The television doesn't work. They don't offer another room- just tell you that you have to wait for maintenence tomorrow. No concern that you paid good, hard earned money. They said they are too busy to help.

Corinne l.

Yelp
Top notch hotel in a great neighborhood. Friendly staff, gorgeous and modern accommodations, and a fair price. Great drinks, conversation, and atmosphere in the lobby bar. This is a real gem!

Jill C.

Yelp
The room is okay. Beds are kind of hard. Our parking pass fell off the dash of our truck and the hotel towed it. Although the staff did what they could to help, I'm not sure why they did not double check the make and license number that we were required to give at check in. Poorly organized. very disappointed.

Yelp
Love the modern aesthetic and all the fancy extras like the rain shower, upscale toiletries, the lobby bar etc., however I think the hotel misses the mark on the most important element, a quiet nights sleep. The rooms have hardwood floors so you hear everything upstairs, the hall doors are so heavy and loud when they close, and you definitely can't have more than one person in the room as the sink is an open concept so you hear everything your roommate is doing The breakfast is NOT included but is very high quality with fresh berries, homemade multigrain breads, an assortment of cereal toppings, and fresh quiche. The gym has everything you'll need but is very confined and has no windows. The neighborhood is great with a magnificent grocery option just a block away. I'm in town for 5-6 more days but I think I need to switch hotels for the rest of my stay.

Yelp
DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL DANGEROUS LOCATION Went out to dinner and came back late to find several police cars in the parking lot. Two people in hand cuffs rolling on the pavement, one person propped up against the car, drugs on top of the car... THEY CHARGE TO PARK IN THIS PARKING LOT. We went to talk to the night attendant, Jordan. She wasn't concerned at all basically attacked us that we were holding her accountable for what was going on in the parking lot. Really? This hotel has gone down hill. The AC doesn't work. Everything is damp.

Yelp
Stayed at this location for a show at the uptown theatre. The rooms are clean and modern and the building is well kept. The only reason why I am giving 3 stars is because of the breakfast situation and the hidden fees that showed on our bill. Our $135 room totaled out over $160 after parking ($21/night) and other fees (tourist fee, sales tax, and occupant fee). The young girl at the front desk told us there would be breakfast in the morning until 10. We go down there and get our plates and an older gentleman was very rude and confrontational about us paying for the meals. I have never been to a hotel that doesn't offer continental breakfast, but there is a first for everything. He proceeded to tell us that breakfast was $15 a plate and that they would charge our room. When we asked questions he tried to take the containers out of our hands and rush us out! Very rude and unprofessional. I should have read the sign, but I wasn't prepared for a full out verbal altercation in the breakfast line. We ended up taking the breakfast to go and paying the full amount. The breakfast was good, despite the interpersonal cost!

Yelp
Disappointment. They don't clean the rooms unless you schedule the day before by noon. Our best didn't have a fitted sheet I asked twice for one and the mattress had stains. I should of asked for a partial refund but they were so understaffed I feel bad for the employees. Our room didn't have towels and when I requested towels them made me run to the lobby and get them because they were so short staffed. Such a bummer I expected more from a Marriott

Yelp
Nice and clean rooms I use to love this hotel But not anymore, after checking in at 5 pm on Saturday the front desk told us there was water pressure issues coming from outside we understood since we ourselves work on the hotel industry. We left for the rest of the evening and came back at 10:30 pm when we arrived at our room we attempted to take a shower only to find out there was not hot water we called the front desk asked if they could move us to a room that got hot water just to be told that she was the only employee working that she didn't have time to go check if there was hot water in another room and that she told us there was a problem with the hot water well NO she said there was water pressure issues. We asked if we could check out and be refunded well that wasn't an option either. Never ever will I say in this hotel The water is ice cold which I had to just deal with it since it was 11:30 and I'm not going to pay another hotel just to stay couple of hours. Worst experience ever so unprofessional.

Yelp
I did get a good hotwire rate, however, I just wasn't that impressed with this hotel as some people appear to be. There weren't any cups in the room, we had three decaf coffee pods so we had to again run down to the desk to pick some up and we ran out of toilet paper, so another trip down. This is COVID season so there was no maid service at all, the bar was closed too as well as their restaurant for breakfast which was probably no fault of the hotel's. I found the room to not be user friendly. The bathroom area did not have enough counter space. When you use the sink everything gets wet on the small countertop. There was no room to pull a chair up to do your makeup or hair, especially when you have to move the coffee maker on the same countertop to use it. The shower door gets in the way when you have to reach for a towel because of the way it opens you can barely stick your arm out to get a towel. If you're a smoker they provide no chairs or a bench in their smoking area. There were just so many things that were not designed correctly. However, the bed was very comfortable, the hotel is in an ideal location in Westport and the front desk staff was friendly. Next time though, I will stay at 816 Hotel across the street which I have before and found it to be a more comfortable stay.

Kim M.

Yelp
Convenient to the Westport neighborhood of KC. The hotel is old with newer finishes and 2 bed room was tiny, the size of a room you'd expect in an NYC hotel. Breakfast cost $15/person, skip that and walk around the corner to Big Biscuit. Also annoyed that during check in parking was said to be free but it ended up on our bill anyway. Missed the mark on this one.
google avatar

Lisa H.

Yelp
Clean updated hotel that is close to venues and perhaps what is like the beer/bar area. Didn't see staff break a smile ever but the cleaning lady did oblige with a hello which felt welcoming. This is definitely more about a clean modern motel turned hotel? The room had plenty of outlets for a family of 4 recharging electronics and the design of the room was great with dual mirrors at the sink space vs. room side. I would def stay here again. Clean and comfortable and walk to good food is great and amazing warm cookie spot. Just no warm fuzzies from staff in the hotel.
google avatar

Bethany V.

Yelp
Yikes. So our room was dirty and the shower didn't work. Also they put my disabled grandmother on the first floor but up a half flight of stairs with no ramp/elevator access. Luckily she can walk short distances but I'm not entirely sure this is legal and ADA approved. I understand things are different during a pandemic but basics should still be met. I'm not asking for room service or an open bar but I would like to be able to shower without random stickiness in my room. The staff was friendly and tried to be helpful, that's the only reason for the 2nd star
google avatar

Raymond H.

Yelp
The walls here are super thin and this seems to be a spot for people to stay on the weekends to throw parties. I stayed here on a Saturday night and a neighboring room blasted music from 1-3am, plus people in the hallway were running around and slamming doors. The hotel staff was no help. I barely slept. Make sure to stay somewhere else if you visit Kansas City.

Jet F.

Yelp
I am in absolute agreement with the critical reviews of the Westport Marriott hotel. Used to be a wonderful place, and now it's been Marriottized. There are no carpets on the floor. Very dangerous. I found the bathtubs unworkable but I had to lay towels in the bathtub to take a safe shower. The staff were totally nonresponsive to my inquiry as to whether there was available a antiskid mat. For me there is personal sadness in the transition of this formerly charming venue to hotel wretchedness. The great breakfast options, are gone, the bathrooms have been remodeled so that the sinks are now in the bedroom space. WHY?
google avatar

Shannon L.

Yelp
Very clean & friendly staff. Wonderful resteraunts and things to do nearby. Very close to the hospitals too. Drawback: breakfast is a bit high in price and not included with room.
google avatar

Yelp
Super nice, clean, contemporary hotel in cool as all "getout" Westport. Really helpful, nice check-in, front desk staff. Really decent bar and bartender, Ashley. Nice small plate options (if they have the ingredients available). Really decent European Buffet Breakfast starting at 6:30am. Just ask if your quiche is not warm; they will heat it. Cost $15 or a la carte...always free coffee. Really nice, neat rooms with laminate flooring. Complimentary toiletries are cute as all "getout" Large, walk-in glass showers with handheld shower heads...just would have like the vibrate setting! The one drawback is that the first floor rooms are eye level with the street and residential properties. Keep your curtains closed if you want privacy. Hmmm wonder if the lights on outside (constantly) impair the sight into the room??? Anyway, I was going for a "4" but changed it to a "5"!!!

Yelp
I haven't stayed a full night yet to base my judgment on the hotel itself BUT I wanted to touch on another subject. I checked in tired after a 10 hour drive and waited briefly to check in. Alan at the front desk was such a pleasure! He informed me of the AC possibly not working and how it was being fixed. While he's dealing with me getting checked in he had the phone lines ringing which I can over hear it was about the AC I have to say with that stress and pressure I was very impressed. He had a way of calming people down and relating to them so you feel very welcomed here. When I got to my room I noticed no big towels so grabbing more of luggage the lobby was a bit busy but he addressed my issue promptly while dealing with other guest. I wasn't the only one who mentioned how calm he was with everything going on at this time he had to deal with as well. Alan is such a asset to the Marriott company! Great job Marriott!

Yelp
Upon arrival were told only option was a double room. Not great, but it is what it is (booked as an express deal). Room not very clean. See photos below of gummy bear and eyelashes left by prior guess. Floor looks nice but was sticky and wouldn't want to walk on it barefoot. No pool, hot tub, or even bathtub. Shower was a bit strange as door opened into the shower but shelf prevented door from opening very far. Had to get all of the way in to turn on the shower head and got hit with cold water each time. No sink in the bathroom. Room was oddly set up. No dresser and safe was already locked in one of the rooms. There is a weird white substance on the window. Possibly paint. Returned to room on Day 2 and it smelled like raw sewage. Luckily we quickly got moved into another. Best things about this hotel would be the free shuttle and the rain type shower head. There's also free parking. AC works and bed was reasonably comfortable. Mini fridge in room.

Yelp
Clean/modern/easy. Good gym. I stayed for a single night on a business trip. The rooms were very clean. The hotel is modern. The parking was free. I got a quick run in at the hotel gym. It was larger than most. A good amount of equipment, much better gym offering than most hotels.
google avatar

Abbie T.

Yelp
This hotel is modern, clean and sleek. Beds are comfortable but the rooms are a bit noisy. The AC is situated in a bustling neighborhood so you will hear the horns honk and drunk kids yammering on. If you are seeking sleep over stuff to do, this is not your hotel Get out of your room. Park the car for free and walk to everything. Try CharBar for dinner, have a few drinks in the neighborhood, and grab a cookie at Insomnia before heading back to your room As a tall person, I value a hotel bathroom with a shower head that doesn't require me to squat down to wet my head. My room passed the test with flying colors. The rainfall shower head was a dream and the water pressure and temperature was perfect.

Yelp
I could not find a way to leave a review on the Marriott website so I wanted to leave this here for everyone. I've stayed at many Marriott's before and this is the first time I've wanted to leave a review. The AC Westport Marriott has absolutely fantastic service. Due to flight times, I was able to check in early (10:30am) and check out late (2:00pm). There is a complimentary shuttle service that runs a 3 mile radius if you don't want to take an uber/drive for both pick up and drop off. The front desk employees were all so friendly and helpful. The location is also amazing! So many restaurants and bars are walking distance to the hotel. Great nightlife all around. It's a little far to walk (maybe take the shuttle), but you MUST go to Q39 for some BBQ. I was in KC for the Chiefs/colts games and the hotel had lost power due to snow. Management offered a complimentary breakfast for everyone the next morning. I even received an email (I assume was sent to all guests) from the management team following my stay encouraging their guests to reach out with any concerns. I did have a slight issue during my stay and let the management team know. Tom (GM) took care of me immediately. Thank you. The kindness and understanding from Tom was very much appreciated. Marriott has unmatched customer service and I will always be a loyal customer. Overall, great location, cute hotel, reasonably priced, and excellent customer service. Will be back!

Yelp
I like the chain but they price themselves according to their ego. It's a 3 star hotel that is often my overpriced. It was cheap lasso night so I stayed. Everything about the room is comfortable except for the toilet. It is so wide ( I'm fat) I felt myself fallinng thriugh itt. I can see anyone normal to slender being comfortable. I barely had hit water in the am. Housekeeping entered my ttoim at 905 am without even knocking. I don't mind staying here but I'll never make tthe effort

Yelp
If you are reading reviews, bouncing back and forth over whether to trust the good reviews or the negative- trust me and move on to another hotel. This hotel inside looks like it has the potential to be swanky, but it's not remotely living up to the potential. I knew when the front desk person complained about Expedia (we booked through Hotels.com because of the rewards program) that we were in for an interesting stay. I had requested a room on the 3rd or 4th floor, and they put us on the 3rd floor. Great... Except the bed had been made but there were stains and hair on the sheet when we pulled the comfortor back. The whole room was very clearly not cleaned. There was food on the floor, and sticky spots. The bathroom wasn't clean. We go back to the front and tell them the state of the room, and after exchanging looks the front desk person moves us down a floor. Gee, thanks. This laminate is coming up, and needs to be cleaned also. The bed is clean, though so we just call to have a broom and mop brought up. I spent the next half hour cleaning the room, because I brought just in case supplies. They offered absolutely nothing to remedy this. There was also clearly nefarious stuff going on outside, and every other time we came in the hotel the entryway smelled like weed. Whoever is running this hotel needs to get it together before their full services open back up.

Yelp
It is a nice hotel but we had a problem at check in. I asked to talk to the manager, who came on an hour after we arrived. Received no call, no email, nothing. Asked again in the morning and again we were ignored. This maybe a nice hotel but the extra 30 bucks is worth booking somewhere else. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Being blantantly ignored is unreasonable and just makes me sad.

Yelp
This hotel was magical. I thought I was entering a fantasy Instagram world when I saw the fancy large room with floating mirror and rain/waterfall shower head. The bed was very comfortable. The floors were a bit cold in the morning (some kind of fake wood laminate) but socks can fix that. Was next door to the gym but it wasn't loud. Good equipment with free weights, treadmills, yoga mat, and resistance machine. Ice cold water and complimentary earbuds for music if you forgot yours like me. Soap selection smelled amazing. Has a business center near lobby if needed. The hotel bar is fun and has a great liquor and beer selection. Bartender was super friendly and stayed open late for us to watch the World Series. Good location near other bars and a few late night restaurants, including Raising Canes. Would love to stay here again!

Yelp
Modern and simple. They were able to check us in early (1000) and the rooms were temperature controlled and had white noise for the night. Loved the location, close enough to westport and the plaza. Close to some of the best restaurants (Bluestem and Gram & Dun) in the KC area.

Yelp
RECOMMEND! Don't understand the bad reviews for this hotel because there was nothing really to complain about in my 3 day/2 night stay. First off, I go for a contemporary approach in a hotel and this was top shelf contemporary, so they had me at that. Also, since I was there on bidness, I'm dreading where I'm gonna park my rental car, and the lot is small, organized and convenient -- that's what I'm talkin' about. I need the easy button for parking. And, free! Location was amaze, I walked to Broadway Cafe twice, walked one night to Jax Fish House, and once to Eddy V's -- all of which I recommend. Plus, there was a bunch of other choices based on how you roll. Finally, I somehow left my laptop in my hotel room, it's a fairly vibey dark contemporary approach, and I think it just blended in with the desk, anyhoo. I left here there. So, shout out to Brian, I think he's the manager, but know he works the night shift, who somehow got it out of the room, got it into a Fedex box, and got it to me BEFORE MY MONDAY MEETING! Top shelf. Thank you Brian, thank you AC Hotel, and thank you Kansas City. When I'm back on bidness, THIS, is where I'm staying. RECOMMEND!

Yelp
Brooke at the front desk and the team here are fantastic! The room is sleek and feels very clean. The bar downstairs has some yummy small bites I really enjoyed too - try the crispy potatoes and the avocado toast! They also have wine on tap. Thanks for a great stay!

Yelp
I stayed at the AC Hotel for 3 days. The location is great and very close to many restaurants, markets and coffee shops. The hotel offers free parking and free wi-fi. Breakfast is not complimentary and I believe it is $15 for the buffet. The gym is larger than a typical hotel gym. It has 2 running machines, an elliptical machine, free weights and a multi-use machine. The lobby area is beautifully renovated with a modern look. Although the hotel rooms have the same modern look, the quality of the room is low. The plumbing is not the best in the rooms and the floorboards are cheap and raised. My friend came back to her room to find that the housekeeper left it open. This is not the best hotel for the price they charge a night, but a nice convenient one in Kansas City.

Yelp
The TV really only gets news channels. The rooms are really nice though. Great place to stay.

Yelp
We stayed here in the summer of 2017, to do a Westport Pub Crawl. Among my comments on Trip Advisor which cannot be refuted or edited, a hotel manager (Tom) dismissed my concern re violence in this area, and in particular a shooting in the parking lot of this hotel. He told the T.A. community that violence was no longer a problem in Westport and that shootings were a thing of the past. https://www.kansascity.com/news/local/crime/article214544354.html No so much Tom. This hotel is marginal in all respects. For comparison, I gave a Hampton Property in Chicago a similar but better review, and received a personal letter of apology, and certificate for a free night stay. The "Security Measures" that the Westport merchants tout ARE NOT in place. This is one of the most dangerous areas in the KC area on weekends after 11:00pm. Avoid the district and avoid this hotel. Yelp
Hipster hell. Aesthetics over functionality seemed to be organizing principle. Nowhere to put your clothes - esp tricky for a family of four. Poorly ventilated bathroom stinks! Sink in the main room, so we all get to hear each other brush, etc. Shower is slippery until it's completely soaked. Gratuitous stairway to first floor rooms. (Never mind ADA). Might be a nice choice for twenty-something solo traveler, but not for a family.

Yelp
This is a beautiful, modern hotel. I enjoy the location more than staying downtown due to walkability to restaurants, bars, and necessities. The staff here is incredibly helpful and can offer fantastic suggestions (just ask them where to get donuts!) My room was a lovely, spacious king with mini fridge. The shower took me a moment to figure out, so be prepared for that! It isn't intuitive and I wish I remembered exactly what to do to help you with that The breakfast buffet was so different and I loved it!! Charcuterie, cheese and quiche can be found alongside the standard breakfast fare. Totally worth it. Bonus: the nail salon across the street and next to the world market is awesome. Clean, serene, and so inexpensive compared to where I live.

Yelp
Meh. This has the potential to be a very nice hotel. It's the newer AC Hotel and it's in a fun area with lots of restaurants within walking distance. This is my 5th time staying here, as it's a good halfway point in my Denver-Cincinnati drive. While there's nothing ever overtly wrong, the cleanliness is lacking and there always seems to me some kind of issue. Tonight, the handheld shower is hanging upside down and does not stay upright. Last time, it looked like a kid had dropped chocolate all over the floor and the warm mop water melted/smashed it into the floor. This winter, there was an earplug and a used dip that my dog found and tried to eat. These are not things that I'd ever demand another room for, but they're worth noting. When I stayed here over the winter, I got a notification that the young man working the front desk had looked me up on LinkedIn, which was certainly a bit alarming. I keep trying to give it another shot, but given the extreme noise level tonight (there are people running down the hall and shouting, like they've never stayed in a hotel before) and the aforementioned issues, I think I might have to try somewhere new the next time I take this trip.

Yelp
What should be a fun and hip hotel in Kansas City is nothing more than a budget experience masquerading as boutique. Staff was unhelpful and everything was an upcharge. Additionally, sometimes you needed cash, others a credit card and others required vouchers or charging to your room. My room had an odor. I let the front desk know. Over two days it was never remediated. Additionally, the music from the lounge was so loud I could hear it in my room which was far enough away one thought it wouldn't be an issue. Breakfast is $15 and is a joke. It was Euro style but had limited selection and mediocre quality. Coffee service was free for guests but apparently tea was not. I was told I would have to buy tea. I went back to my room and got the complimentary tea bag from there and came back down. Then I was told that the hot water wasn't free. She finally relented and said "it's okay thiiiiiisss time." Because of the proximity to Westport it was filled with undesirables from god knows where. Lots of drunk bros and women who were too old to be engaged in those shenanigans. I was awaken four times in the night by drunks in the hallway. I would just avoid this place. Terrible management and really only good if you're 47 and want to relive your community college sports days. No thanks.

Yelp
Great boutique hotel in a great location. It's close to bus stops and not too far from downtown. The staff was welcoming and friendly. The room was clean and I enjoyed the waterfall shower. This hotel doesn't have a pool in case that will make it or break it for you.

Yelp
We had a great stay! Everything is modern, from the lobby to the bathrooms. Our room was clean and well maintained, no complaints at all. We didn't eat breakfast here but it looked like a cool set up. The staff was kind and very helpful. The best part is the location. We were in walking distance of great restaurants, bars, cafes and shops. When I get back to KC I will definitely stay here again.

Yelp
Pros: * Free WiFi that doesn't kick you out every 24 hours and require re-login. * Plenty of electrical outlets (HUGE plus for our family). * Great location. * Extremely friendly staff. * Hardwood floors, which of course reduces a hotel yuck-quotient by a factor of about infinity. * Speedy, always available elevators. * Free shuttle (3 mile radius, which covers a lot) with a super nice driver. * Decent lobby coffee. * Free parking. * Almost imperceptible but pleasant baby powder smell anytime the thermostat cycled on -- it felt intentional. * Two complimentary water bottles in the room. * Nice reading lights over the nightstand. * Great fitness room. Cons * As other reviewers have noted, most of the cons revolve around the designers choosing aesthetic over function: * Super weird "master" light switch setup which made lighting options throughout the room really awkward. * Zero bathroom/vanity area privacy. (If you were in a new relationship or with a coworker in the same hotel room, this would be a nightmare.) * No dresser drawers. * No alarm clock. * 4 occupants, 3 towels. (This is so easy for the reception desk to "notice" and rectify when your party checks in.) * First person to turn on the "rain" showerhead each day (which you can only do standing inside the shower) gets three seconds of arctic blast as the residual water collected in the pipe from yesterday's shower unloads. It's so rough that we joked about using "first shower" as a punishment if the kids misbehaved. * During our long stay, we had one day we did not want the room cleaned (we had an item we knew would leak and cause a big mess if touched). I put the Do Not Disturb hanger on the door but also called down to the desk to reiterate. I was told "as long as the hanger is on the door, you're good." The room was cleaned anyway. Item was moved. Huge mess. Overall, it probably wasn't the best choice for our family of 4 (no pool, no affordable breakfast, very little bathroom privacy, nowhere to unpack our stuff and "settle in"), but all of that was our CHOICE -- we knew these things going in. (Given the enormous world of hotel profiles and guest reviews, it's hardly fair to gripe about amenities which you have every chance to know ahead of time.) It was the great Hotwire rate that sucked me in, and that's ok. It was a beautiful, clean room in a fun part of town, the employees were very friendly, and our needs were certainly met!

Yelp
Hotel itself is awesome and a very nice addition to Kansas City. The staff is beyond terrible. I love Marriott and know the service isn't typical of Marriott. No one is friendly. Everyone seems miserable. They don't care about guests and almost go out of there way to avoid you. Check in awful. Asked front desk one day how to use voicemail since no guest directories and she had no idea....????? No staff knows promotions on website and argue with you that your wrong. Skip breakfast unless you want bad service and mediocre food. Don't bring family.... It's not clientele they are looking for and will make you know it. Every clock and thermostat in hotel is wrong. My ex-girlfriend use to be QA and I know that's a no-no. Fingerprints on ceiling of hallway mirrors weren't touched in days. Room was dusty in bathroom. Bar is beautiful but don't think you can be in and out in 5 minutes..... Even when dead you'll wait for a long time. Name tags not worn.... Is that an AC thing? I get hotel is trying to be all chic, but have some damn consistency. GM should learn E in LEARN model and not go through motions..... Yes, I worked at hotel in college. Pros: room is spacious and nice. Tv is big. Location is great. Hotel is new. Smart fridge cools quickly. Built in charger adapters. Amazing shower. Nice beds. Love product but would never stay again. Back to Raphael for me. I'm shocked by amount of good reviews and can't imagine my stay was one off.

Yelp
Marriott has nailed it with their new mid-tier modern contemporary hotel chain. I booked this hotel due to its price and proximity to the Westport area and recordBar, since I was seeing a show there that weekend and I have to say that this is my new favorite place to stay in KC. The hotel itself is smaller, however it has all of the amenities that you would expect from a larger Marriott property. A major plus was parking was free, which was rather surprising considering navigating the surrounding neighborhood could get rather hectic at peak times. Check-in was quick and easy and the staff was warm and welcoming. I noticed the hotel bar and business center while walking to my room, however I never had an opportunity to check out either. Once in my room I immediately noticed the clean and open floor plan and the hardwood floors throughout the room. The room itself was very welcoming, however the bathroom sink was only separated from the bed by a mirror, which may or may not be to your liking. The large rain shower and toilet were separated from the main living area by a frosted glass door. There was a mini fridge with a quick chill feature, which was supposed to quickly chill any beverage and glasses. Wi-Fi was available and pretty good speed for hotel standards. One thing that did stand out was that there were no ice machines, only freezers with bagged ice available on the 2nd & 3rd Floors. The bed itself was very comfortable and the pillows were a perfect firmness, not to soft and not too hard. Overall I enjoyed my stay at the AC Hotel, and not only will more than likely return to this location on future trips to Kansas City but I also plan on trying to book an AC Hotel should it be available on any of my future travels.
