We stayed at this hotel in early October, and it really was a great property for our needs. The location is key - super close to lots of restaurants and bars, and just a short walk to the Port Authority for subways.
We had some trouble the first day, though - we got there around noon, knowing that our room wouldn't be ready. We dropped off our bags and were told that we could check in at 3 pm. We did make a request for a room with a view after reading the other reviews about the building across the alley, so we knew that it might take a bit longer.
However, we got there at 3, and we were told the room hadn't been cleaned yet. It would be another "hour-ish," but it was more like 2 hours. We had tickets to a show that night, so we really wanted to be able to shower and change. We finally got our room at 5, after sitting in the lobby with many others in the same situation. I'm not sure what the issue was, but we really should have been offered free coffee or something while we waited. We were entirely ignored.
About the room - it was very spacious for NYC, and the view was great. The floor to ceiling windows are nice, and the blackout curtains are KEY. They really helped to drown out the noise and light. The bathroom was very nice, and the products were of good quality. Our housekeeper was pretty inconsistent - some days we had 2 towels, and some days we had four. They didn't replace the shampoo/conditioner every day, but thankfully it was enough.
The AC was pretty loud, but I'm sensitive to those kinds of things. This one kind of vibrated, but that really only gave me trouble the first night. Surprisingly, there wasn't much noise in the hallways, and we were able to sleep very well.
All in all, I would stay there again, but I would make sure to have plenty of flexibility on check in day!
