Stayed here over a holiday weekend and had an awesome experience. The rooms were super nice—clean, comfy, and just a great place to relax after a busy day. The staff were honestly the best part—so friendly and helpful the entire time. They made everything easy and really went out of their way to make sure we had what we needed. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for somewhere chill and welcoming. Would definitely stay here again!

Google
I have been so pleased with my stay at this hotel! The rooms are spotless and well-maintained, and as a Platinum member, I was greeted with a beautiful welcome gift that truly made me feel valued. The staff here is exceptional. Jessica at the bar made the most amazing lemon drop martini—perfectly balanced and not too sweet, just how I like it. She even took the time to write down the recipe for me, which I really appreciated. The location is great, and Ben at the front desk went above and beyond to be helpful and welcoming. Overall, this has been a wonderful experience, and I will definitely be back!

Google
Booked this place because of the location near/in the Old Port and as a Marriott loyal customer. While I typically really enjoy an AC Hotel, this one was underwhelming. The water pressure is almost non-existent, the sheets were stained in places, the bath mats were thread bare, and there were no tissues in the room. The bed felt like sleeping on a mattress pad on top of a cardboard box spring and the pillows were like cotton balls in a fabric bag. All that being said, the room was ultimately fine and the location makes it easy to walk around. What was especially weird was the service. Prior to arrival I received an automated, but personalized message from the manager about my stay. It asked to notify them of any special occasions that were being celebrated or any needs that we had. I responded and provided my details. When I checked in the guy at the front desk asked for my name like normal, from there is where it got weird. He proceeded to complete any check in procedures he needed to do in total silence. He didn’t talk to me at all! Didn’t ask if I was parking a car, thank me for my Marriott loyalty, tell me about breakfast or hotel facilities. You know, the normal hotel check in spiel. It was all together very off putting. If you’re getting in late, leaving early, and just want a place to crash then this will suit the bill. If you want any of the service or facilities you expect to get from staying at a Marriott I would skip this location.

Google
Got the bait and switch and when we checked in right after 3 for the king size bed room we booked months in advance, we were told they were sold out and they were “upgrading” us to a room with two queens. Definitely not an upgrade for two people now squishing into a smaller bed than expected and we were never provided with any explanation of why our reservation was the one changed. Some other things to note- the other reviews are correct the bed is really not comfortable and the “water view” was looking directly into a corporate office. The shuttle service was great and the valets and housekeeping were all very nice.

Google
Stayed one night. TVs were not working during my stay. Strange but staff did apologize for the inconvenience during check-in. PROS - Clean, spacious room. Public spots within hotel were clean with a modern look. Pickup from PWM was very quick (3-4 minute) wait. CONS - 1) hotel website advertises the AC Lounge serving food until 10pm. Turns out they only do breakfast. When I asked staff about this, they acted like they've never offered food outside of breakfast. Time to update your website then. 2) I had to hunt down my shuttle driver for my ride to the airport despite making a reservation. I was waiting in the lobby at least 10 minutes before my reservation. One of the valet staff was kind enough to locate him. He didn't even apologize for being late. I'll find someplace else to stay next time in Portland. Price point did not match the service or amenities.

Google
Very nice lady at the desk gave me a "partial water view" (see photo) just for asking. Valet parking is $40, the nearby self service lots are $30 for an overnight, so I'm not sure it's worth the stretch of trying to park yourself. Free breakfast, but there's also a Specked Ax right outside. New, clean, and about $150 less than the other places located closer to the main tourist areas.

Google
Positive: Good location. Friendly staff - reception, restaurant, valet parking. Quick response to a concern about the lights not working over the bed - a maintenance person quickly flipped the circuit breaker to restore power. Negative: Bathroom had a sliding glass door which was not easy to close, and the only towel racks are in the shower. You also have to read the posted sign in the elevator so you're not surprised that they only clean the rooms every other day.

Google
Excellent updated hotel in old town Portland Maine . The positives: great location, clean, updated and has a shuttle service. Negatives: breakfast is overpriced with slow service, shuttle service is not dependable and you may need uber as a backup. Location is great but a little far to walk to most major attractions and restaurants for children, seniors or those with health issues. But still a pleasant stay. Four & 1/2 stars.

Yelp
Stayed here for two nights and had an amazing time. First off, they do airport pickups and drop-offs from PWM. When you arrive, you just give them a call and they'll send their driver over and for drop-offs, you just schedule the day before. They can also shuttle you nearby on a first-come-first-serve basis. Both drivers we had were great. The one on the way basically gave us a short tour with recommendations on the way to the hotel and the driver on our way to the airport was very pleasant to chat with. When we arrived at the hotel, we were early but the front desk staff were able to store our bags and would call when our room was ready. They eventually called while we were outside and when we made it back there had been a little miscommunication so we had to wait a bit as they were still making the room feather-free. Although we still had to wait, I REALLY appreciate that they caught the feather-free request. I'm allergic and I always request that but I can count the number of times hotels have acknowledged it without my prompting with one hand. I had reserved a partial water view 2 queen room and it was down near the end of a hallway and delivered on the view. On the way to the room we passed by a "hydration room" and this ended up being my favorite amenity in the hotel. It had a combo icemaker/water dispenser. This meant I didn't have to buy any bottled water and since it was super close to my room, any time I was thirsty I just hopped out and refilled my water bottle. On the last night I also saw some carafes left next to the machine to fill water with as well. The room was spacious enough and lots of table/counter space to put stuff. The one thing I didn't love was the sliding door to the bathroom since it would sometimes sway a bit after and make noise. The room also had a little mini fridge. In the lobby, on the first day when it just turned cold, they had cold apple cider out and on the other days they had hot apple cider. It was perfect for a fall weekend in Portland. The location was also close to the places we wanted to go to like Duckfat, The Standard Baking Company, The Holy Donut, Scales and the Eastern Promenade.

Yelp
What a wonderful hotel this was. Located in the heart of downtown Portland. Convenient to all the restaurants and shops. . It's at the end or the beginning of the strip, so it's not that busy on as you get closer to the hotel. . The rooms were modern, clean and comfortable. . Did you know that they have a shuttle/car service that will take you to your destination within a 2 mile radius. How cool is that? We only used the service once. Make sure you ask concierge for more details. . I would definitely return to this hotel.

Yelp
Staying at the AC Marriott Hotel in Portland, Maine, was an exceptional experience that combined the comfort of modern amenities with the charm of a vibrant, walkable neighborhood. The hotel's location is nothing short of perfect, nestled in a safe and welcoming area that makes exploring the best of Portland incredibly easy and enjoyable. One of the standout features of the AC Marriott is its proximity to a variety of attractions. Just steps away from the hotel, we found a delightful wine bar that quickly became a favorite spot to unwind in the evenings. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, offering an impressive selection of wines that catered to all tastes. Whether you're a wine connoisseur or simply enjoy a good glass of red or white, this place is a must-visit. It was called Angoor - look it up! For beer enthusiasts, the hotel's location is a dream come true. Several breweries are scattered around the neighborhood, each offering unique brews and a laid-back atmosphere. We spent an afternoon brewery hopping, sampling local craft beers and soaking in the friendly vibe of Portland's brewing scene. The variety and quality of the brews were outstanding, and it was a fantastic way to experience the local culture. Nature lovers will appreciate the hotel's proximity to beautiful parks. We enjoyed leisurely walks to nearby green spaces, where we could relax and take in the natural beauty of the area. These parks provided a serene escape from the urban hustle, with plenty of opportunities for picnics, strolls, and simply enjoying the outdoors. The AC Marriott itself is a testament to modern comfort and style. Our room was spacious, impeccably clean, and thoughtfully designed. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep after a day of exploring. We also appreciated the high-quality amenities, from the sleek bathroom fixtures to the fast and reliable Wi-Fi. The hotel staff were another highlight of our stay. From the moment we checked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a genuine willingness to assist. They were knowledgeable about the area and provided excellent recommendations for dining, activities, and hidden gems. Their professionalism and friendliness added a personal touch to our stay, making us feel truly welcome. In addition to its prime location and top-notch service, the AC Marriott offers convenient on-site amenities that enhance the overall experience. The fitness center was well-equipped, allowing us to maintain our workout routine while traveling. The on-site restaurant served delicious breakfast options, fueling us for a day of adventures. In conclusion, our stay at the AC Marriott Hotel in Portland, Maine, was nothing short of wonderful. The combination of a fantastic location, modern comforts, and exceptional service made it a memorable experience. Whether you're visiting for leisure or business, this hotel offers everything you need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. We highly recommend it to anyone looking to explore the charming city of Portland while enjoying the comforts of a top-tier hotel.

Yelp
Clean , contemporary and kinda minimalist. Parking was $38 a night. There was outside parking that was free from 6pm-8am. Breakfast was $16 that included expresso, hot and cold choices. The staff at check in was very helpful and professional. The walls were pretty thin and we could hear talking in the hallway. The curtains didn't close tightly and did allow the light to come in early am. We were able to walk to some restaurants pretty easily.

Yelp
Stopping over for one night or many in downtown Portland, the AC will make your stay enjoyable. Within easy waking distance to the delicacies of Old Port, it's a great launching point to experience downtown. Spacious work/gathering areas make up the main floor, with a cozy/hip bar and decent meals on those deep-snow January days when you'd rather keep the snow shoes in storage. For that brief period in summer when everything is good, venture a couple blocks in many directions for food and fun. Snag a big or small meeting space during the day, and relax in the trademark "minimalist chic" room at night. Maybe you'll even get adventurous and head up to Eastern Promenade for fabulous Atlantic views. The coffee was hot, the service was inviting, and I'll look forward to my next AC Portland visit,

Yelp
Wonderful experience at AC Hotel in Portland. People were helpful and attentive from our arrival until our departure. They accommodated a request for a bay view room and then sent a kind gift from management. As a very early riser, I love that they provide 24 hour coffee service in the lobby. We also really enjoyed the well maintained and clean gym. Overall, this was a great stay. We look forward to visiting again next time we're in the area.

Yelp
This was a great hotel for our one night in Portland. Easily walkable to our favorite restaurant, Duckfat. Checkin was easy - they were great about allowing us to check in early. The front desk staff were all very friendly and helpful. Our room was well appointed and clean. We were able to get a late checkout, which was great due to our late flight. The hotel also had a courtesy shuttle to the airport from 3-11pm, which was very convenient for our 5pm flight. Would gladly stay here again.

Yelp
My friends and I stayed at this hotel three months ago during our weekend getaway. They had valet parking but we were able to snag a parking space on the street since it was on the weekend. The hotel was very modern. Check in was a breeze. The room was very clean and spacious. The only caveats was the toilet clogged very easily and the fridge was not very cold. They also have free coffee downstairs in the morning.

Yelp
excellent hotel! So clean and has all the amenities you could want - great full gym (yes I use the gym - treadmill and weights - come for work meetings and being able to get a solid workout helps me on those long meetings) with water and towels (so clean!), excellent breakfast (it does cost separately but it's such good food), excellent complimentary coffee (iced and hot, believe me as a coffee snob I can vouch is truly excellent coffee which at 5 am coming out of the hotel gym is absolutely priceless). Rooms are impeccably clean, comfortable and feel so spacious (been here 4 times already for work, different floors each time and the rooms are spotless and so comfortable). highly recommend!

Yelp
We had a nice three night stay at this modern hotel with sort of a minimalist, but comfortable feel and vibe. Our room had more than enough space with a picturesque view of the Atlantic Ocean from our window. We did not feel cramped nor constricted like we have experienced with highly decorated - newly designed concept hotels. The use of light olives, browns, and beige tones are tasteful. The padded arm chairs, padded bench, and comfortable bed created a warm touch to the modern and sleek, European- style decor. The bathroom was ultra-modern, but conventional and practical. All of the bathroom amenities /toiletries were just right. I did find the square shaped toilet unique. It did its job despite its unusual shape. There is a large screen monitor for your television and movie-watching pleasure. I really liked the fridge in the room for loading up on drinks, bottled water, beer, wine, and other snacks or left-overs that required cooler temps. An in-room coffee maker and coffee helped me get out of bed, open my eyes wide, put on my running shoes, and head down to the street for a cup of strong - Joe. We did experience some issues with housekeeping. During this pandemic period, housekeeping is upon request only. I called the front desk around 8am both days to request for the room to be cleaned. The two days that I requested housekeeping service, I had to remind the housekeeping staff and the front desk of my requests after 2pm, and again after 5pm. I assumed that our room would be picked up and cleaned after lunchtime. Our rooms were not cleaned until after 530pm. It was tough to sneak in a short post-lunch nap due to this housekeeping issue. I think I would stay here again. The location is ideal and the hotel is comfortable. Next time I visit, I hope the need for Covid protocols evaporates, and pre-Covid services return to normal.

Daniel M.

Yelp
Super expensive! Over $400 per night. Rooms are very small. You must pay for parking which is another 30 bucks a day. We asked 3 different front desk people about the shuttle and got 3 distinctly different answers. They offer snacks for sale but don't take cash. There is no place to do laundry. They say there is a "library" but they literally had 3 books on a table. There was only one person at the front desk who was friendly. The area around the bar smelled like body odor the whole week were there. Overall, this hotel really is not good! You would get more from a lower quality hotel. Would not stay here again.

Yelp
We stayed here last minute for a one night trip to Portland. Check-in staff were friendly and accommodating when asking for a room away from the elevators. The room was OK. We brought our dog, which was awesome they allow dogs (for a $50 nightly fee), but of course we were placed on a "dog floor." The room was simple and clean, nothing to get excited about. I was really looking forward to a comfy hotel bed but was disappointed. It was too soft and the pillows seemed old and flat. Also, there was a decent amount of light coming in from the door, and I probably could have placed a towel there, but was too lazy. The curtain would also not close properly but was able to get it shut using their pen as a clasp. We didn't have a chance to use any of the amenities but the gym looked nice and the bar was open late. They even had a buffet breakfast in the am. Overall, for a last minute trip, this was OK, but next time, we'll book ahead so we can try another hotel in Portland.

Yelp
Friendly staff! Really really clean room. Clean hotel. Covid guidelines. When we arrived we were greeted by the valet. So friendly and helpful (you can valet or self park). We chose valet bc my husband hurt his knee. They were great! For example, we were there in cold weather. They saw our car was diesel, and they warmed it up before driving. Front desk was equally wonderful. Checked in easily / fast. I LOVED they didn't have carpeting!!! My allergies were so happy!!! Love this! Bed was very comfortable. Not too firm, not soft. Just right. We had a city view and could see the harbor as well. The location is great. Everything is easily walkable. Would def stay here again!

Yelp
Beautiful and perfectly located. All you would expect from Marriott's higher end hotel. Clean, comfortable and stylish. The brand photos are very accurate. Will stay here again for sure.

Yelp
Service The hotel staff were friendly. They are only doing house keeping by request and did honor my request on 3 of the 4 times I Requested it. On the night they forgot they instead quickly Brought up a bag of the items I needed - towels and coffee. They also have other items if you forget them like dental kits, etc... Room I generally hate a room without carpeting. I know it's easier to clean, but with no sandy beach in sight in downtown Portland, it seems a cheap option for these rooms. Granted it was fake hardwood instead of tile, which was at least an aesthetic improvement, but I still wasn't a fan. Room 308 was spacious with plenty of room for moving around and luggage. There was no dresser though so don't plan on unpacking your clothes. There was a rack (no doors) with hangers if you needed to hang some shirts. There was a very loud fridge in the room which I had to shut off at night for peace and quiet. There were outlets by the bed and desk, but because of how they were arranged and because of the size of my cord, you could really only use one of the two ports at a time. Overall a fine room, but nothing to make it a favorite of mine. Location The location can't be beat. You are on the waterfront as close as you can get. The peninsula is 2 miles by 1 miles so you can walk anywhere quickly. Most of the things to do are on the east side of the peninsula so the fact that the hotel is not smack in the center of the peninsula wasn't a problem. The hotel was in a quiet area and in the evenings didn't experience any noise outside. I much preferred this to the commercial street atmosphere. The hotel is less than 15 minutes from the airport. Bar The hotel bar is a fun night spot before heading up to your room. They don't have port but do offer wines at 6 or 9 ounce pours. The bartender was friendly. The bar itself is small but you can sit anywhere in the lobby that you want which has comfy chairs.
google avatar

Jeff A.

Yelp
Hey @achotels Have your interior designers actually sleep in a room they designed, as they really screwed up on the UX with these window curtain functionality. This is totally unacceptable for a premium brand like the AC.

Hannah S.

Yelp
The valet service was exceptional!! Tripp and Nick welcomed us and made us feel at ease right away. In all my years of travel I have never had such amazing service from a valet team. The world needs more of these guys. Not to mention they were some well groomed young lads.

Yelp
Why the 3* rating...well the left handside of the hotel vibrates 24/7. As you stand looking at the front of the hotel the left hand wing has a large power unit at the ground floor level and this causes a constant hum and vibration thoughout the left hand wing on every floor, which I found very disconcerting and annoying for a modern new hotel. I moved rooms to the right handside of the hotel and that was fine but I would have thought a basic design flaw like this should have been rectified already. My final room was lovely and quiet, spacious and overlooked the harbour and I slept very well and heard nothing as the glazing is also well installed. The staff could not have been more helpful and also the place was spotlessly clean. So make sure you stay on the side of the hotle away from the elevators...you may need to walk along the corridors but you'll sleep much better.

Yelp
Super nice property. Welcoming staff. The breakfast was one of the best we've had however they charge $16 for it. Parking was another $40. So they definitely going to get extra money off you. Not too much in walking distance but enough to get something to eat or a cocktail. They did have a happy hour but we had too much fun during the day to make it back in time to take advantage of it. Room: 4 Staff: 5 Breakfast food: 5 Additional costs and fees: 2

Yelp
My new place to stay when in Portland, Maine. Very clean; kind and professional staff and housekeeping personnel; unique modern and minimalist styled rooms; beautiful restaurant and sitting area; and valet or nearby parking garages available. Within 5-15 minute walking distance to all the cool waterfront restaurants and the county courthouse area.

Rishi P.

Yelp
For my first trip to Maine, I stayed at the AC hotel and it was one of the best experiences I've had. The rooms were very organized and clean which gave us peace of mind when returning back to our rooms. The front desk and overall staff were also very welcoming to us as they suggested several local food and social lounges for our group of friends to enjoy during our trip. Shout out to Mike and Monica who made this trip unforgettable with their amazing recommendations!

Yelp
Sweeney the bartender in AC Longe is aces. He makes a great Margarita and he's a pleasure.

Yelp
This is not a hotel for young families. There is no pool, no cheap games available for kids to play with, no stack of nearby family attractions pamphlets or discount coupons to nearby mini golf and breakfast is void of that leaky malfunctioning waffle machine. This is the one you want to goto when you want to impress your date or when the kids are at grandma's house. The decor is super chic and ultra modern, in your room you will find a single cup gourmet coffee pack & mini water bottles alongside chilled glasses in the cool see through mini fridge. In the bathroom, there are upscale toiletries and a fancy shower. The room will have usb charging ports, new comfy beds and a large flat screen TV. You also may have a view of the harbor depending on which room you get. Valet parking is convenient and allows for multiple in and outs at no additional cost. It's also cheaper than self parking which is ridiculously, double the cost. The front desk is very friendly as are the valet staff who will help you unload and pack your car on arrival or departure. Breakfast is unbelievable. It's not free but affordable at ~$17 considering that you are offered. I've quite honestly never had a better hotel breakfast ever! Fresh prosciutto is something I've never seen at breakfast! Quiches, cheeses, salami, croissants, oatmeal, fresh nuts, fresh fruits, fresh squeezed juices (Orange, Apple), coffee (regular and iced). You'd really have to see it to appreciate. I'd probably try to eat this breakfast even if I wasn't staying here. The lobby is beautiful and there are Apple machines for you to use. There are some reading materials as well. The rooms are kinda tight to be honest. If there was a negative other than the cost, that would be it. Otherwise, go enjoy Portland, ME and stay here.

Yelp
*PLANNING A WEDDING? DO NOT STAY HERE!* To put it frankly - a nightmare. We checked into the AC Hotel for our wedding weekend (we're local and got married at Ocean Gateway across the street). I booked a suite for our entire Bridal Party, family, makeup artists, hairstylists, photographers and videographer in February of 2022 and upon arrival my reservation had changed without notice. While I understand that things happen and/or change, the attendant at the desk was new, ill-mannered and declined to provide an explanation when I expressed my concern. When asked repeatedly why we couldn't be in the room we originally booked, he stated there was an issue with the AC... the irony is not lost on me. When asked how hot the room would be without it (we were willing to bring fans) he proceeded to roll his eyes, get irritated and abruptly left to get the manager. The manager did not come out to greet us, apologize or explain the situation. Instead, the front desk member came back and said, "It's not the AC. The room is just unavailable." The reality was the room had been double booked and a member with more rewards points was able to take my reservation without notice. A room I had reserved HALF A YEAR AGO for our WEDDING to accommodate 20 people getting ready. Again, if things happen when you're in the hospitality business, come through with an apology and some sort of resolve...Not with inept staff who couldn't care less. From there, it took MULTIPLE people speaking with them both in person and on the phone to receive an apology and any resolution. Between myself, my husband, my maid of honor, my sisters and then finally, a family friend, we were able to get through during our rehearsal. On Saturday morning, we brought down our trolley with all of the wedding gear to go to another location and the front desk staff proceeded to blatantly gossip about our "situation" in front of me and three bridesmaids. It takes a special type of business to cultivate an environment in which staff feel so inclined to speak openly and disrespectfully about guests. But it doesn't stop there... When we came back at 330PM on Saturday for me to have a private moment to read my vows, we walked into the room to find it had yet to be turned over when we had been gone for 9 hours. The resolve? Three bottles of champagne, one complimentary breakfast, one night comped and no apologies. Did we get charged the full amount anyway? Twice! So, on our way to our honeymoon we had to reach out multiple times in order for the charges to be changed. We have since told local family, friends and coworkers about our experience and what was their overwhelming response? No surprise. Many of them expect the least from the AC hotel in Portland. If you're thinking, "wow, okay this is a nightmare"... just wait... Imagine going on your honeymoon where you ALSO booked an AC hotel. To our surprise, the staff was friendly, accommodating and thankfully had our room *that we booked in advance* available, which apparently... is hard to come by these days. The downside?? Well of course there's one! We had two couples call in to send champagne and charcuterie. One couple was charged SIX TIMES and their gift was sent to us WITHOUT their note and DAYS LATE... The other couple?? Oh, their gift never got to us. All in all, if you feel like going back and forth for hours on your rehearsal night, wedding day and your honeymoon with a viciously incompetent staff or having your family friends charged for nothing -- We 10/10 recommend booking the AC! And AC, if you're reading this... at BASELINE, learn how to do your job appropriately or get out of the hospitality business. Lastly, if you're thinking I must leave wild reviews like this all the time... I actually had to take the time to make an account today in the hopes that future people wouldn't get charged thousands of dollars to deal with a room they didn't even have.

Yelp
This hotel is in a great location. The room was spacious and clean. The gym is great. We didn't get to check out the bar or any food service but it looked lively and active. If you valet valet your car, make sure to ask for Cole he goes above and beyond to make it a great experience.

Yelp
My husband and I arrived late on a Friday night, but we were greeted by a smiling, friendly front desk staff member. First impressions are everything. Check-in was quick and simple. We went to our rooms and enjoyed a hot shower while waiting for food delivery. Love the modern furniture in the room and especially the comfy bed. Plenty of decent TV guide channels, though you can connect your Netflix account if you want. We ate our takeout downstairs at the bar, which thankfully serves drinks until 11pm. Even the next day when we did sightseeing, the front desk graciously held our bags. This hotel is super close to the most popular restaurants in Portland, i.e. Duckfat. And it's 10 minutes from the airport. Can't get much better in terms of location. Would highly recommend this reasonably-priced hotel. It's pet-friendly too! We saw so many dogs pass through, and I generally appreciate how many are welcome in Maine. Thank you for making our first stop in Maine a memorable one!

Yelp
We had a very enjoyable stay here. It is on the East end of the waterfront, tucked away from all the action, but an easy walk to most things. The hotel feels very new, or very well kept. The vibe is more European, as compared to the typical chain hotels, and the lobby is a very pleasant and comfortable place to hang out. Our room was quite spacious, with a view of the water, and a very well appointed. The fridge was so cold, drinks on the top shelf froze over night. I would definitely stay again if we returned to Portland, and the price was at the lower end for the area (although not cheap).

Yelp
They have one of the most beautiful lobby I've ever seen! Definitely in my top 3. Adjacent to the lobby is their bar lounge and it is absolute gorgeous, open and modern. Unfortunately, they serve only mini plates of snacks and delicious drinks so you have to go elsewhere for dinner. Bryan-- bartender extraordinaire. He was very professional, warm, and friendly (lights up when you mention basketball). Very passionate at what he does and some presentation of his drinks are without a doubt -- impressive. He got smokes coming out of the drinks! So Yes! My favorite ones are smoked manhattan & espresso martini. Totally recommend it! What's more impressive is the view we have of the harbor from our corner room! It's truly breathtaking! So yes! Hubby and I will be back! Cons: We paid over 300/night but there's no toothbrush, slippers or plushy robes as other hotels would give you. So make sure you bring them!

Yelp
Clean room, clean property. Right on the waterfront and walking distance from tons of food and drinks. Would definitely stay here again.

Yelp
Okay this is perhaps one of the best hotel stays I've had in a while. The safety precautions during COVID were amazing. The Marriott App is the key for all the needs. The staff are attentive and friendly. Especially the Director of Housekeeping. The Bartender, Mikayla, is a blast and so amazing. The grounds are spotless. Plenty of street parking. And right next to pubs and the bay.

Yelp
One of the best overall semi-value hotels in Portand. Front desk service is incredibly polite and helpful. The overall design of the hotel is solid, with a large sitting/breakfast/lobby and bar area, and an incredible fitness room for this level of hotel. Most importantly, the room was impressively comfortable, with a perfect bed and pillows, a large couch for relaxing, and - in our room - a spectacular view of the working harbor. Special kudos to the hotel for having the best, coldest air conditioning in all of Maine! We like it cold at night, and the AC unit blew super cold! Awesome. Overall, we were super impressed with the AC Hotel.

Yelp
This was an excellent hotel . We loved the location, the view, the staff (they were amazing) and amenities. They were still finishing up some work on the palace - like parking and other exterior stuff. But that's probably done now. The rooms were comfortable and the Decorating was modern. I didn't feel like I was in a time trap. Downstairs the lounge and restaurant were open and airy. It's a short walk to all of the downtown restaurants and stores so no need for a car there. They do have in and out valet if you do bring your car. And the staff were super helpful when needed. I can't say enough for the people they have working here. Highly recommend the place!

Yelp
Love the hotel and the rooms. Their team is great, from checking in to the awesome cocktails at the bar, Sweeney is a great mixologist. My only complaint was the breakfast. For the price of the rooms I would have expected better, very cheap and more of what I'd expect from a comfort inn. I've been a Marriott guy for 25 plus years, 3 plus years in a Marriott bed all over the world, so this was a disappointment. However, I will be back.

Yelp
Great location in East End and Old Port part of Portland. Relatively new, modern hotel with contemporary, and minimalist decor. Room with King bed had a sitting area and large screen TV with access to Netflix, Hulu and UTube. Friendly staff. Complimentary shuttle service to and from Airport and around town.

Yelp
Had a wonderful stay at this hotel. Very clean and felt safe during these Covid times. My view was of a construction lot but I honestly understand and everything else was so great that this didn't matter much. Will definitely stay here again.

Yelp
Great hotel and staff. Valet to check in very easy. Very modern and hip. Location is good, walking distance to everything you need on the harbor. If I come to Maine again, I will for sure book this hotel.

Yelp
LOVED THIS HOTEL. Booked last minute and there were plenty of options. Great pricing for a night in Portland. The staff were so sweet they welcomed us in and even made a list of restaurants and bars to try (which were all amazing). I forgot some meds and called down to see if they had them and when I got there they remembered my name and had them ready. They have a fancy coffee machine that runs throughout the day that makes espresso and lattes and was beyond better than hotel coffee. We didn't try the food but we did try the bar which also had happy hour drinks and food. 1/2 off bottles of wine and $5 cocktails. They had an espresso martini on draft and it was to die for. Not too sweet and super espresso rich. The bathroom and rooms were so cute and we were able to adjust the temp to the prefect temp. We slept really well the beds were super comfy and didn't have to rush since the checkout was at noon! For dinner they have complementary drivers to take you downtown and when we requested it they were super busy. They came over and apologized and gave us a free Uber ride for the inconvenience. Oh and when we checked out they let us leave our bags until we came back to head home! This is definitely my hotel for Portland whenever I visit. The experience at this hotel made Portland overall an amazing trip!

Yelp
This was by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed at and it wasn't cheap. Everything in the hotel as far as amenities was shut down. They didn't bring clean linings or towels at all. Dirty towels, empty food bags discarded in the hallway because in order to eat anything it was at least a two hour wait time. The hand sanitizer machines were always empty, The gym was completely shut down. The only way you can park is to pay them to valet you're vehicle or pay $50.00 a night at the garage across the way that they don't own. There is zero privacy the way they have set up the bathroom doors and the list goes on from there!!!!! I would highly recommend avoiding this hotel at all costs and save yourself the aggravation. I have detailed pictures to prove everything I have said. The management is beyond terrible.

Yelp
Hotel staff are rude and unhelpful. Horrified by their custom service and gossiping about guests.

Yelp
Absolutely horrific customer service. Ruined my best friends wedding weekend and had zero sympathy for giving her room away to someone with more loyalty points. See post below.

Yelp
Excellent stay. Clean, perfectly maintained modern experience! This is a brand new fresh hotel and you can tell! The staff was welcoming and friendly. My room was nicely laid out and clean. I would definitely stay in this hotel again the next time I'm in Portland.

Yelp
This is a brand new and really incredible property. The rooms are HUGE, clean and very modern. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The bar area is fun, large and a great place to hang out. We arrived in the evening and only stayed one night so we did not get much time to fully take advantage of everything this hotel has to offer. It was easy to park ($30 valet) and close to the Honey Paw where we had a dinner reservation.

Yelp
Great hotel in Portland! As a Marriott member, I usually opt to stay in Marriott properties and the AC Hotel did not disappoint! Super convenient location and very comfortable rules. All COVID protocols were in place and we felt very safe. Staff was super friendly too!

Yelp
Have not wrote a review in years but I had to after a wonderful stay here this week! We were visiting from NYC and chose this hotel by the recommendation from a friend. It ended up being the best choice after our positive experience. Valet and front desk were super patient and friendly. The hotel was spotless and inviting. The lobby was perfect for a morning call. Most of all, we really appreciate Brian at the front desk for the local suggestions, kind service and his time for the shuttle services. He definitely made our trip a happy one. Everyone was very professional and kind. Thank you! :-)

Yelp
Nice modern hotel with great location and staff but many negatives There was a lot to like about the AC Portland Downtown/Waterfront. The decor was modern and there is a great bar with good drinks and tapas and a view of the Fore riverfront. And the location at the north end of the commercial district was fabulous with great coffee shops, bakeries, and groceries a block or three away and a world of fabulous dining and shopping a little further down the waterfront. The hotel is also conveniently in walking distance of the Eastern Promenade and the restaurants and 'fermentories' along Washington Ave. But that coffee shop was a necessity since there wasn't a coffee station in the lobby. As was the grocery since the fixed price breakfast buffet in the bar had neither plain yogurt w/fruit/nuts/seeds nor eggs (our goto breakfast choices) and there aren't a lot of breakfast spots nearby. And as others have noted there isn't a restaurant onsite - not an issue for our stay since the weather was nice but I'd be much less forgiving during a storm or blizzard. But the major issues were with the room. First and foremost were the engineered floors. I can understand the reasons for using engineered flooring instead of hardwood or carpet (I installed it in my basement) but they needed to put *way* more insulation between the concrete slab and the engineered product. Bone chillingly cold and bone crushingly hard I've never stayed in a hotel room with worse flooring. Too late to fix it now but they should at least provide slippers. I would suggest bringing or buying some if you stay here. The second failure was the not quite closing barn door to the bathroom placed next to the door to the hallway. I unfortunately discovered the hard way that when I came back with breakfast I had to open the door slowly and make sure my partner wasn't in the bathroom to avoid accidental exposures. Lastly, there is no bath in the room nor is there any kind of spa or hot tub in the hotel. I understand this is not an issue for some but a nice soak in a hot bath would have been nice after walking around Portland in less than balmy temperatures.

Yelp
I booked a stay via hotels.com - Apparently the hotel has a no refund policy with hotels.com, I made reservation the morning of my stay, showed up about an hour and a half later and realized I booked for the following weekend. The girl at the front desk informed me she would cancel the reservation for me and to make sure that I cancel it via hotels.com too just to double make sure i get my refund. This is exactly what I did and 2 weeks later realized I never received a refund. I spoke to the hotel manager and to hotels.com and both a refusing to issue me a refund. If I had known that I would not be able to receive a refund I would have just returned for a stay the following weekend seeing that I live about 40 min away from this hotel. I feel cheated and that hotels.com and AC hotel Portland both have stolen from me.

Yelp
Simple and elegant Spanish decor- newest Marriott brand. Only ding: Reservation was for a corner waterfront 2 room king suite - we had a "larger" king with water view. Cashed in a suite night certificate so I felt a little cheated.

Yelp
I thought this was on the high end of Marriott properties but not so much. Ambiance is Ok. The biggest negative is the night light by the door. If you want a dark room to sleep you are OUT OF LUCK. There is no way to turn it off. Vallet parking only $32/night but they are quick. Bed is comfortable but nothing special. Love the drinking station on the floors. In addition to ICE you can get water for wetter bottles etc. nice addition.
