Academy Sports + Outdoors

I really like this location and I shop here often I need a specific type of shoe that I was not familiar with so I asked Eli for help. Oftentimes employees will tell you what aisle things are on and set you on your way. Not Eli. He walked me over there and after he got me there he helped me figure out which shoes would be the best for my needs. He listened to what I had to say and offered two or three options that would work for me. I asked him what type shoe he personally wore for outdoor work and he showed me and told me this probably wouldn't work for what I was looking for. I just appreciate his honesty and willingness to help me and I ended up getting a pair of shoes that I'm really happy with. He's a great asset to the company. His badge says Eli team lead serving since 2025.

I was at the bike wall for about 30 mins looking for a bike for my son. I pulled 5 diffent bikes down, one from the second row, and tried checking them which was tough since there was no stand to set them on to see if the alignment was on, if the shifters were smooth etc, and put them all back up, all on my own. There were probably 5 other people who came through looking at bikes while I was there but non were employees asking if they could help. Decent selection but with no one to answer the questions I had I left.

I went in on 10/09 I'm the evening and it was a young while male with mullet like haircut working alone, he ignored me as I stood at the counter. He took 3 white gentleman that he claimed where waiting before me. Once one customer told him to go ahead and help me he said do you have an ID? I gave him my ID. He allowed me to look at a few pieces then said you can look at them all day but I can't sell you anything because of your out of state ID. I asked about someone else buying it for me he said yes and told me about going to a FFL dealer since he would not serve them if they came in because he wouldn't know whether they were using my funds. I rarely experience racism but I did this day. I started to not go back but I went on with a new ID and met the sweetest man Reul! He didn't ask for my ID right away, he actually greeted me with a smile and was concerned about my needs! He was very knowledgeable and helped me with a hard purchase for me and I really appreciate him. There were also other nice men working with him that turned a bad experience into a great one. I am glad I went back and that they have hired a variety of people who hold no malice towards people who don't look like them.

Fist off this store is the most unorganized place I have ever been in the shelf’s are horrible to try and find anything there’s random stuff everywhere! The only good employees are the ones at the gun counter. 2ed they will get you with false advertisement and by that I mean they have signs everywhere but one get one 50%off same brand so I got 2 things of the games brand well what do u know it didn’t count for my items just because one of them was in a box vs a hanger! Straight out of Clayton’s mouth! With extremely bad attitude then just turned around and walked away! I really used to injoy this store but they have definitely lost a customer that was there at least every other week!

Academy Sports is by far better than Dick's in the fact that they offer a vast array of Sporting Goods including hunting and shooting, along with all other sports. I recently went here to get a new pair of golfing shoes and found exactly what I wanted, and also some new dumbbells to add diversity in my weights and was really pleased even after going to Dick's to look at the difference. I also find the staff here to continuously be positive and helpful in more than one way.

I was buying ammo from the outdoors section and decided to check out up front. A gentleman from the customer service desk called me over so he could check me out and asked if I wanted $30 off my purchase today. I said why not thinking I’d just be signing up for a rewards system but that was NOT the case. He didn’t explain what I was signing up for until I looked at a sign that was advertising an Academy Sports credit card in which you could save $30 on your current purchase. I was misdirected into signing up for said credit card. These credit cards are well known scams and I feel stupid for allowing this employee to sell me this credit card. I’ve come to learn they have to fill a sale quota for said credit cards which is why they push them like they do. This is predatorial. I came back in today to talk to someone and a few employees helped me and gave me a few options of what to do to cancel the card and said whoever sold me this card was sly and misleading. Please don’t sign up for this card PERIOD. Please learn from my mistake. And thanks to the employees who treated me like a human when I came back in, those are the type of employees you want at your company. I wish I remembered their names. And to the gentleman who sold me the card, you’re an absolute goober and should be re-trained.

Went into this store and I was impressed...Very organized and the employees help you out...Just came in here to look what they had...When I'll need equipment...I'll buy it here

I come here for all my workout/leisure clothes because of the amazing prices. The employees are always very nice and attentive. The store is always very clean, and they have a wide selection of apparel for all sizes. They also have one of the best selections of STL sports apparel that I've seen in a store. There are a few things that are cheaper quality, but I would expect that with the pricing. They also have a great selection of running footwear for both mens and womens, including big brands such as Nike, New Balance, Adidas, and Brooks. They also have Crocs and Adidas sliders, Hey Dude, and Magellan brand casual footwear. I would definitely go here before other brand stores when shopping for outdoor items and workout/leisure clothing.

I really like academy over Dicks and others, much better pricing and I notice if I watch the deals they really deliver.

Located in St Peters Mo. busy shopping mall strip. Store well lit , open and spacious. Exercise equipment, bikes , shoes, clothes etc available. Gift cards for purchase. Items are never available in all sizes. Whatever you see you better grab it, there is no coming back. Prices varies depending on style and brands. Curbside is available. Staff is friendly and helpful . Dressing rooms are open and available!

A current version of a Sports Authority or any of the other now closed sporting goods stores. Hey, on-line shopping has not been kind to brick and mortar stores......so if you want to actually hold that bat, try on that glove or swing that fishing rod....shop here before it's gone too!

This is my favorite sporting goods store for things I'm interested in. A very large selection in each section of the store. All the brand names you know are represented. I think their prices are on the low end of most of their competition. My only complaint is in the bicycle section. They only have brands you've never heard of and cheap bikes. Nothing for intermediate and advanced riders. The inexpensive bikes they have don't look like they are great quality. So they sell higher end, better quality items in other sections of the store. Why sell below average bikes? Other than that I am pleased Academy came to St. Peters MO.

The worst. Ordered a product online, paid for, shipping confirmation. Apparently they can't count. They cancelled my order with no explanation. Try to get hold of customer service. Near impossible.

I was at an Academy Sports and Outdoors on 5214 I-70 North Outer Rd. in Saint Peters, MO 63376. I saw a revolver on sale for 119 dollars. The original price is 199 dollars. I was a little skeptical and asked a sales associate why the price was that low. He said "We have a Christmas sale." He then made fun of my question by talking with another sales associate by telling him that I asked the question, even though the sign is saying on sale. While I was filling out the paper work for buying the gun, he made a comment about a blonde customer that walked by the counter. I didn't remember exactly what his comment was about the girl, but his manner was unprofessional. I'll never set foot in the store again or buy anything from this store online again.

We liked the sales available on tax free weekend. Great clearance section too! Though we were quite disappointed with the availability of high quality softball equipment. We definitely will not go back when we need softball stuff.

my sister worked for this place for almost 2 years. they had some shoes for $170 that they intended to mark down im assuming a little bit. they changed the price to $10 and put them out on the shelves. My sister comes in and buys all of them. They text her (dont even have the decency or balls to say it in person) that she has to bring them back or else she'd be fired. She said how can you do that you couldn't tell a customer they had to return them, i bought them for what you rang them up for? they were going to fire her after they did this big department move, which of course they put all of the work on the young employees, and they were talking to all of the employees behind her back letting everyone know they were going to fire her to the point that she found out, so she quit. very unfortunate story that i thought should be told :D think about this when looking for your first/next job :) have a good day
