ACE Adventure Resort | Whitewater Rafting West Virginia

I photographed a wedding here during the spring and it was an absolutely beautiful place! The wedding area is at the Concho Overlook, which overlooks the gorge below with a view of the small town of Thurmond. It's out of the way of the rest of the resort, so you won't have to worry about any disturbances. A few things to note: - There's plenty of parking in the gravel lot, which is at the top of a small hill above the ceremony area. If you have elderly folks or someone in a wheelchair who aren't able to make it down the gravel hill, they are able to sit at the top in their car or a lawn chair if you bring one and watch the ceremony from there. - The ceremony spot is gorgeous. There was quite a lot of graffiti carved into the railings on the balcony, though, which took some time to photoshop out of the pictures. A bit unfortunate people can't be respectful of spaces and not carve them up. This was in spring 2025, so this may not be the case anymore, depending on when you're reading this. - There is no shade anywhere, except for a little bit from the trees at the ceremony spot on the balcony, depending on the time of day. It's pretty much all an open field and WV gets hot in the summer, so if the reception tent is optional, I would definitely set it up. - Bathroom options are going to be port-a-potties unless you want to drive back to the bottom of the hill to the main part of the resort. - Getting ready areas, I believe, are back down the hill, likely in cabins. So give yourself enough time to drive up the hill to the Overlook. My couple and the guests seemed to have a really great time here and with everything being in one area, there was no rushing around to different places. Highly recommend having your wedding here!

My group of friends was new to rafting and we chose to go on the Lower Gauley. The experience was great. We had a great time with our guide James, who was friendly, knowledgeable, and skilled at navigating the river. James showed us how to surf a hydraulic and kept us rowing together on the raft. We also rescued a raft ahead that capsized. Lunch was very nice: pulled pork sandwiches, broccoli, macaroni, and brownies baked by one of the guides. I expected a cold sandwich, and this was much better. Wear layers for the weather and bank on the experience taking a full day. This was very fun and a highlight of my trip.

We camped at the campground on site and took the Upper Gauley trip during "Gauley Season". The trip was TOTALLY epic! Peter was our guide and I would totally recommend requesting him! We seemed to be hitting the best lines and we were the only boat on our trip that got all the paddles to touch the top of Pillow Rock! The facility was extremely impressive sporting 2 restaurants, excellent wifi facility wide, large gift shop, huge outdoor covered lounge area, as well as all kinds of excursions to choose from. All the staff seemed so friendly. Zack was supper cool as the overall trip guide. Definitely going back for sure!

Our first white water rafting trip was an absolute blast, exceeding all expectations! From start to finish, the experience was incredibly well-organized and thoroughly enjoyable. A huge part of what made it so special were our exceptional guides. Their expertise and enthusiasm were infectious, immediately putting everyone at ease, even those of us who were a little nervous at first. Fox was our raft guide and his knowledge of the river was impressive and he ensured our safety while maximizing the thrill. Beyond the adrenaline rush, the trip was surprisingly informative. Fox and Tammy shared fascinating insights about the local ecology, geology, and history of the area. Our children (ages 7 and 8) absolutely loved it! Fox was fantastic with them, making sure they felt safe and engaged throughout the trip. He even taught them some fun facts about the river. It was a wonderful family bonding experience that we'll cherish forever. And let's not forget the lunch! We were treated to a delicious and satisfying meal. Overall, our white water rafting trip was an unforgettable adventure and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun, educational, and memorable outdoor experience!

We did the Half day Lower river trip and had the BEST time. Great trip for a beginner like me, perfect mix of fun and challenging. Plus the incredible views the entire time. The entire staff was amazing! Super knowledgeable & safety oriented, but also so down to earth and fun to be around which made the day even better! Big shout out to our guide Laney B. she was awesome!!

We did the zip line course with our 2 sons ages 11 and 12 and we ALL loved it! It was fun, challenging and perfect for our thrill seeking adventure spirits! Our guides Ryan and Stevie kept us safe and explained everything in detail on each platform. We can’t wait to come back in the summer and swim in the lake and take boys white water rafting. Thank you again for everything Ace team, we will be back!

Simply put one of the best adventures of my life and some of the most fun I've ever had! I was part of a 14 person bachelor party group for the Upper Gauley with various rafting experience and we all had the best time! My boat was a 4 person 12ft raft led by Ace guide Chris Davis. 3 out of the 4 people in our raft had done the lower Gauley a few years back and told Chris we were looking to do as much as we could for the upper Gauley, boy did he deliver! Chris made it a priority to show us every thrilling feature of the river while making sure we still stayed safe. I would recommend Ace and Chris to anyone looking to conquer the Upper Gauley. We'll be back for sure!

we had Scotty O as our guide and he was LEGENDARY. He was funny and fun and made us feel so safe. We are coming back in spring and WE HAVE TO HAVE HIM AGAIN HE WAS SO GOOD. He kept everything light and fun while also keeping us safe while we were rafting. He is the best guide I've ever had and will definitely be returning to Ace. All of the staff are very friendly!

We had so much fun as a family of 4 here and it was only 79$ we spent about 3 hours and that was the perfect amount of time. Im very glad life vests are required because my kids were so brave jumping all around. I was a little nervous but the life vests made me feel much better. The zipline was very fun and the operator was so kind with my youngest when he was trying to do it. He got too scared so he backed out but he'll get it next time! A great way to tire the kids out in the middle of a roaa trip?

Wow! I have been white water rafting many times and although it is always a pleasure, this was hands down my favorite adventure! I first went rafting around age 11 and I remember very well thinking "I want something intense from here on out!" I finally got the intensity I wanted with this one. My group of 10 took a road trip here and we chose the half day on the lower new river. It's advertised class IV+, but thanks to the heavy rainfall this season, we really had a lot of call V rapids which kicked butt!! We had so much freaking fun hitting so many intense rapids! We worked hard and could definitely feel the work we put in (my and and glutes are still feeling it 4 days later). The best exercise is one that doesn't feel like it because you're having the time of your life! Every staff member from the phones to in-person was super kind and pretty funny too. Great personalities. 8 of us were grouped in one raft, 2 had to go with another group. Out raft guide was Alisa and she was really freaking cool! She really knew what she was doing and did a great job leading us. I still can hear her during our toughest rapid screaming " DIG DIG F'N DIG!!!" which means paddle as hard as you can and I'm going to carry that with me every time I'm on my last leg exercising and want to push harder. She was my favorite guide thus far and anyone who has her is lucky. The sun was shining this day but there was a breeze and water was cold so many of us opted for renting equipment to stay warm. For $22, I was able to rent a wet suit, neoprene jacket, and booties; all of which kept me perfectly comfortable! On 2 occasions, we were able to jump in the water if we wanted to and float in the current. That was awesome too! We only went in once because you have to swim pretty hard to back to the raft (against the current) and then you have to get back in which was pretty hard too. We had to be hoisted in by our friends in the raft. So even though I wanted to go back in, I dreaded having to get back in the raft like that lol. After rafting, they have several types of beers and white claw flavors, as well as sodas and water. You can enjoy these on the bus ride back to ACE. The ride back is about 45 minutes and was the only time I felt a little chilly due to being wet and drinking a cold beverage. Once back, you will take all your gear off and you can tip your guide cash or they have Venmo too. There is a photo package that is a little expensive, but on par with prices I've seen elsewhere. And you will get A LOT of photos (digitally). There is a gift shop with clothes, drinks, snacks, etc. I got my usual souvenir magnet. There are many other activities to book at ACE, as well as tent camping, cabins, etc. There is nothing bad I can say about this place! Thanks for the adventure!

Wow. You want a nice ride down the new river gorge. Well go to Ace Advemtures. They were extremely friendly and easy to organize. Booked online and showed up to check in for our details for the trip. We did the half day lower new river trip and it was full of all the rapids you could ask for. Our guide was super informative and kept us all calm and organized as we navigate the rapids. The facility has everything you would need in case you forgot something. Also besides rafting, you can check out so many attractions at the resort. This was so fun we came back again the next day to enjoy the thrills! Plenty of parking available and clean shower houses to use after the trip. Go enjoy yourself in the wild and wonderful west virginia!

Amazing time on the Gauley River on September 8. Our guide Kincaid was knowledgeable about the river and we always felt like we were in good hands. The Upper Gauley is an experience of a lifetime and, if you are able, you need to do it! Class 5 rapids were no joke, but so satisfying to be able to get through them. And the occasional unsolicited swim in the drink was just as fun.

My family went on a Zip-line tour and it was an absolute blast for all of us. Ryan and Stevie were our guides and they were phenomenal, both are friendly and knowledgeable. It was our first time zip-lining, and they were patient with us and encouraging the entire time. They explained everything clearly, and took the time to ensure we understood the process to be able to maximize the fun. The views are unbelievable, and the variety of zip lines was perfect. We are already excited to come back and do it again.

Ace Adventure Resort is THE place to take your family on vacation in WV! Nestled in this beautiful mountain range the New River Gorge welcomes everyone skilled and beginner to experience what adventure means to the great outdoors. The staff at Ace always puts safety first-they are knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, and attentive-if not, I wouldn't have been able to be talked into going down river in a Ducky with my then 8 yr old. We had the best time white river rafting! The pics don't include the most memorable and exhilarating rougher parts of our journey but we managed through in full confidence our guides knew exactly what to do. The obstacle course was pure awesomeness! The cabins are clean, well-maintained and come with a personal hot tub on the back patio. I'm excited to return and highly recommend!

Great day rafting on the upper Gauley with a few Class V rapids. You can tell they have been doing this awhile from their check-ins, bus transportation, raft readiness and deflation (afterwards). They explained proper positioning in the rafts (for the inexperienced), what the route entails, and a little bit of history as well. The stop for lunch halfway through was done nicely. They had burgers on the grill and enough for seconds. This is rated as one of the top rivers to raft in the U.S./world but I would have loved a little more action. That being said, it was a great time. (Went the weekend after Labor Day.) There's a photographer who is on a kayak to grab photos and videos. There were 5-6 rafts per time slot and because he is responsible for all the rafts, our raft was neglected in more than half the shots. They were either very abrupt or shaky. He did get some good shots of other rafts. Because of this, I didn't purchase the photos or video. If you plan on rafting the Gauley, you can't go wrong with Ace.

1. The mud obstacle course is so fun and we had Gage as our guide and he was AMAZING! It is outdoorsy and you're going to get dirty for sure but a really fun time. Took us about an hour. 2. The water obstacle course if I could rate 0 stars I would. They have teens running the place that don't care and are so rude, not to mention no name tags or shirts. You don't know who works here and who is visiting. No life guards which is clearly displayed but this place is so ungodly dangerous. I would never come back nor take small kids. The floats would turn over with young kids on them every 5 minutes. Someone is going to get seriously hurt. Do better. Food and drinks options which is nice but long waits like 1 hour for a thing of nachos or chicken tenders. It's so overcrowded and that makes it not fun. I would never return and will be surprised if this place stays open do to the poor judgement of staff.

A great company to use. Their guides are amazing and know the river like the back of their hand. They really made the trip that much better. Highly recommend them.

Terrible customer service. Front desk was rude and unhelpful, the PFD workers were rude and pushy. Completely ruined the experience for 5 guests. We will not be coming back.

We did the 6 hour lower New River trip and had a fantastic time! Our guide, Alex, was great! Highly recommend!

The employee hiring process is amazing here. Grant was the life of the party, he knew everything to know about ziplining, and was so funny. Please keep Grant, he is amazing. Ryan is cool too

Was pleasantly surprised with how fun the trip ended up being. Our raft guide (Fritz) was an excellent guide. We were able to hit surprise dead center and had a couple of swimmers. The process to get checked in, geared up and out to the launch site took a little longer than expected. But after we were on the water, it was fun. We also did their water park and had a lot of fun on the obstacles. I found out the hard way how hard the pads were, but overall a fun experience for the whole family.

My family has tried both the ziplining and waterpark at ACE - both were okay, but I think I'd recommend the waterpark more. Service is definitely lacking/hit or miss throughout the ACE resort. Our ziplining guides last year were extremely rude and unprofessional, and made the experience feel unsafe and unenjoyable. The zips were also smaller with good views, but not the best compared to other zipline tours we've tried in WV. We decided not to repeat the zipline this year, but we tried the waterpark instead. The staff at the waterpark ticket booths had terrible attitudes and seemed like they really didn't want to be there. A staff member monitoring one of the waterpark rides were also just sitting in her chair, not giving safety instructions or saying a word - she was vaping. This was definitely a safety hazard, since the ride needs someone actively looking out and instructing people on what to do. In general, the waterpark is a bit of a safety hazard. There's not enough staff monitoring the inflatables - sometimes they were overloaded with people on one side, making the whole thing almost fall over. The inflatables also deflate a lot near the end of the day, which is normal, but some people risked slipping/falling since it's harder to climb and jump off. The waterpark is medium-sized - 2 of the big slides were closed, which was disappointing, but everything else was open. 2 ziplines above the pool, 2 slides, and a bunch of giant inflatable obstacle courses, climbing walls, floats you can jump/slide off of, and lounging floats. There is something for everyone of all ages and athletic abilities, which is nice. Overall, the waterpark was a fun experience to share with family and friends. ACE is pretty hit or miss and I wouldn't recommend the zipline tour, but I'd say to give it a shot if you're interested in the waterpark.

What a great weekend! Booking was so easy, thought something would go wrong, but arrived late without issue. The cabins are on the rustic side, but have everything... including a Hot Tub. The Rafting was better than we could have expected... told to be there at a specific time... prep talk, equipment pick up, then bus to River. We were split up accordingly and assigned our own guide! This was my first time, and I was in the capable hands of Nate Layhee (3 guides were named Nate). Nate told us what to do, what to expect, and was firm when we needed to pay attention! Every part of the trip was seamless! Lunch was Extremely organized, and surprisingly very good! Even the end of the trip... loaded the rafts on the truck... on the bus and back to resort... Never rushed, but never a long wait! On the way back, given instructions on equipment return, and welcomed back to watch video and have a beer, an hour after trip. We had fantastic weather, and great water... but ACE made this a perfect weekend!!! WE WILL BE BACK!!

Nothing gets better than ACE. The staff all around are very helpful. From the workers who helped with the reservations/payments to the guides who lead the adventures. The guides not only lead the adventures in a fun way, but they also do a fantastic job recommending places to go in the area (trails, towns, jet boat rides, Hawks Nest State Park) They are all very funny and knowledgeable of the WV area. Good vibes all around and smooth sailing with ACE. Overall, white water rafting and zip-lining were my favorite activities, but you can't really beat the delicious wood fired pizza at the water park, it's to die for. There is also an amazing overlook located in ACE, the "Concho overlook." AMAZING VIEW!

Loved the rafting! Had instructor Alex and it was an amazing experience. We did the Lower New River Full Day Best Experience. It was really fun, the first half of the trip was calm water, then we stopped for a lunch (which was really good!), then after lunch we did the rapid part of the river. I think this trip would be good for adventurous beginners or intermediates. 5 out of 5 stars for this. The campsite was pretty good. It was very convenient to be close to the rafting. The bathroom facilities were very private & clean which was nice. The actual campsite itself was not very private though. It was pretty much just a big giant field that was divided into different campsites. Wasn't wooded at all. But overall it was still good - if you prioritize being close to excursions it's a good idea to camp here. If you'd rather camp somewhere with trails and wooded areas, I would go somewhere else.

There are so many different offerings here, I'm going to rate each experience separately. Water park: Fun, good value, but very dangerous Price: $23 adult 1/2 day / $17 youth under 17 1/2 day / free kid under 5 Safety: Unacceptably low. My four year old daughter went on the zip line that drops onto the lake. When I received her at the bottom and went to unhook her carabiner from the zip line, the locking mechanism wasn't over the gate. Meaning, she was flying through the air 50 feet up above the water on a carabiner that was not locked. I am an experienced rock climber so I know what an unlocked carabiner looks like. On this particular caribiner, the auto locking part of the carabiner was not functioning anymore. Instead of springing up over the gate, it would get stuck in the down position. This is probably due to exposure to water and sand. They need to do a better job checking each device before they put someone on it. The staff will also sometimes spin a rider by twisting their strap before launching the rider. This only increases the danger of the caribiner opening by accident. I recommend that Ace consider using manual screw gate caribiners versus autolocking ones. This will be more dependable when facing the elements. Secondly, riders were asked to return their harnesses and metal safety equipment through a bag hanging over the tower structure right in the middle of a walkway. If people weren't looking they could easily walk and hit their head. If one of the staff accidentally let go of the rope while pulling it up, chances are the bag would drop directly on top of someone's head. There must be a better way to return that harnesses. Additionally, throughout the water park people would jump off the blowup structures without any way to make sure they weren't jumping on top of people or into shallow water. One area of the lake looked deep to me but when I fell off the structure it turned out to be less than 3 feet and I scraped my knee. Signs and clearer demarcations in the lake could prevent unnecessary injury. Rating: 1 star Camping: Very nice camping, had showers and single stall bathrooms, cushy grassy earth for a softer night's sleep, could have more trees for shade Price: $192 for 3 nights for 4 people Rating: 4 stars Rock climbing: great instructor, too expensive Price: $99 for a 1/2 day for adults and $79 for youth, which turned out to mean 3 hours total, 8 a.m.-11 a.m. Minus 1.5 hour of travel and set up time, left us about 1.5 hours of climbing time, split up between 3 people gave them 30 min of climbing each: 1 ascent and 1 rappel. If it was 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. it would've been the perfect amount of time. 2 ascents per person, please. Safety: Excellent Rating: 3 stars Aerial park: Amazing, fun, and much safer than the water park Price: $59 adult / $39 kid (other than the water park, one of the only adventures for 4-7 Yr olds) Safety: Excellent, Leo did a great job teaching safety and checking all safety equipment Rating: 5 stars If we came back, we'd probably just do the aerial park instead of the on site climbing, and avoid the zip line in the water park!

If Patrick from SpongeBob is the lovable, goofy starfish, then Patrick from ACE Adventure Resort is the legendary river rafting star of the New River! We had the absolute pleasure of rafting with Patrick on September 2nd, and let me tell you--this guy could guide a raft down a river faster than you can say, "Is mayonnaise an instrument?" Patrick made our trip not just safe, but ridiculously fun. He knew the New River like the back of his hand (or fin?) and led us through the rapids like a pro, all while cracking jokes that had us laughing almost as hard as we were paddling. His instructions were clear and on point--even though, at times, we were too busy having a blast to listen (sorry, Patrick!). Luckily, he was patient, encouraging, and definitely didn't yell too loudly when we got a little distracted by the scenery. By the end of the day, we were certain of two things: 1) Patrick is hands down the best river guide out there, and 2) if Patrick the starfish ever goes rafting, he'd be lucky to have this Patrick as his guide! Thanks for making our New River trip the best day ever!

We had a great Lower New River white water raft day trip as part of a girl's weekend trip to celebrate a birthday. The outdoor activity, mixed with ACE's COVID-19 protocols and our vaccines made us feel safe. We had an amazing ride with Scotty O. as our guide. The three of us were all new to rafting, but Scotty's experience made us relax and enjoy it. We followed his instructions and benefitted from the full wetsuits for the very cold water. The team was efficient and professional all along the way, from the beginning to the end of the day. Scotty explained everything very well and helped us understand what we were doing at each turn. He also has a great sense of humor and we laughed all day. The hot lunch of grilled burgers (both beef and veggie options) and chicken with all the fixings was amazing. They even made sure that I had a gluten free bun. Nate was the camera guy who shot pictures of the whole day by kayak. He made a cool video of our experience. We were impressed at his skill and professionalism. After we finished rafting, we all met to chat about the day, life in general, and watch the video. I highly recommend the ACE white water rafting experience!

I was extremely nervous about rafting, as I had never done it before, but was told that this was the best way to experience the National Park. I am very grateful that I booked this experience! My fiancé and I had a great experience, and our guide, Scotty O, did a great job of making sure everyone had a great time. It was clear that he was experienced and wanted to make sure we got the best experience. I would definitely recommend this company for anyone else visiting the National Park.

We had a great time white water rafting. It was our first time and Ashley made it a lot of fun and calmed my nerves by just being her - a great spirit and funny human. After the rafting adventures we were surprised with drinks and beer. What a treat. Thank you ACE for a most memorable time. Cheers.

The service was prompt and extremely friendly. Our server went above and beyond to insure we enjoyed everything. The catfish entree was prepared perfectly. Their buffalo wings were hot and flavorful plus they were very generous with dips and veggies. The blue cheese dressing had to be homemade because it was very thick and loaded with blue cheese. My husband really enjoyed his steak sandwich too.

We had a wonderful time here white water rafting. If you're looking for a good time embellish your thrills with these guys. Also, request Jason Stark (dreadlock guy lol..) as your tour guide.

We went White water rafting for a full day on July 5th. Our rafting guide Nate did an excellent job. He was very knowledgeable , friendly and communicated very well with all people on our raft. Everything I see is about rafting but the zip lining is an absolute MUST!!! One of my top favorites that I have ever done!! Our guides Zack, Quito and Ross were phenomenal! They felt like friends by the end of the tour, but always kept safety a priority. If you can only pick one excursion, you should choose zip lining!

Absolutely unbelievable experience on the lower New River. It was our first time doing a rafting trip and now we're hooked! The river guides have this down to a science! From the moment you arrive at ACE's grounds, they take care of you. Every step of the way contains excitement and builds up to that adrenaline rush that you're looking for. Even the bus ride down to the river launch area was fun! Our guide Alisa gave a wonderful history of the grounds as we embarked on the windy road to the New River. Once you're at the launch you'll be taken away at the awe and beauty of the surrounding mountains. You'll get views of the gorge that are literally only possible from being right in the river and this could quite possibly be the thing that makes you believe in a higher power. The experience is nothing but Wild and Wonderful West Virginia! The wildlife and coal trains only add to the majesty that is the area. Lunch is provided at ACE's private beach area that is directly on the river. That's pretty darn cool. Meal consisted of ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS pulled pork and chicken along with all the fixings like potato salad. The trip is a true experience that is unlike any other adventure we've done. From the moment you hit the water and feel those rapids you'll know why this is WILD WONDERFUL WEST VIRGINIA. Oh, and yes you might fall out but that's all part of the fun!

Jordan was an amazing rafting guide. My friends did the lower rapids, it was a great beginner rafting experience. Jordan guided us through safety and was clear. She added finesse to our experience making it different than the other rafts

Went on our 2nd rafting trip, our guide was Zuko. Long hair guy from Colorado !! The adventure was nothing short of amazing. Made some awesome memories with the wife and daughter. Zuko knew exactly what to say, what to do, and how to prep us to make sure we had a blast. We will be requesting him moving forward. The other guides were great, everyone had so much fun that it is really hard to describe in words on a post. My suggestion is.. do not skip this adventure.

Did a rafting trip with Scotty O and had SO MUCH FUN! Not stop humor, good 'surfing' on the raft and such a well educated guide. Loved coming to his church. Fun and energetic with tons of technical rafting on his part. Can't say enough good things. We'll be back with our kido in 2 years. Can't waiting to schedule a ducky ride! the Alaskans

The all day trip whitewater rafting was phenomenal!!! Joe, our guide, was fab!!! Would highly suggest this place and trip.

US marines helmet much better protective gear than a nazi helmet. God bless America and our soldiers. My uncle, almost died in the battle of st la rouge in France fighting those sobs. Fought to protect guys like you to have the right to wear what you will. Overall ACE was a good experience.

Chris was great at the Ariel adventure and made it so much fun!!! It is definitely recommended!

We booked a cabin that supposedly sleeps 10 people. That included a fold out couch. However, the fold out couch was broken so 2 guests had to book a nearby hotel room. We had a difficult time finding the linens for the folding beds. Had to call the welcome center to locate those. The doors squeaked, the lights kept flickering because they were burning out, and the front door didn't lock properly. There were 2 bathrooms. One had a leaking toilet. We had to contact maintenance to come and fix it. The cabin was advertised as having a kitchen, however I found the stove burners didn't always work. We were not able to do a lot of outdoor activities because it rained most of the time. I would not recommend this place. Too many maintenance problems and far too expensive for what we got.

We had the most amazing experience Zip Lining our guides Liz, Emma and Abby were so wonderful!! Have a lot of fun facts and made the whole experience 100% unforgettable!!! Best guides for our experience. I highly recommend doing the zip lining . If you are ready to let go and conquer some fears this is the perfect activity!!

We did the all day rafting trip on the lower New River on July 3. We had an amazing time . Rapids were class 2,3 and 4. Our day started with introductions of the staff and the other people that would join us on our tour. We were fitted for our equipment and taken to the river on a school bus . The staff made us feel very comfortable and went over all safety requirements . This trip is more than a float trip but not as extreme at the gulley river tour. We had a guide in each of our rafts . Our guide was Chloe and I cannot say enough about how great she made the trip ! She knew the River , but she could also read the level of nervousness and made us all feel comfortable and relaxed ! We had a blast ! We got to white watercraft , rock jump and swim! We had a lunch that was included at it was great ! Lots of food and nice variety ! If you are in new river gorge area be sure to spend a day on the river !

Turned family holiday gift giving into a destination of memories at Ace Adventures this weekend. The entire adventure was easy to navigate and drama free. Booked online, confirmed by a phone call, easy signage getting to the resort, quick and easy check-in and then the adventure of 13.5 miles on the river begun. I believe our entire party truly enjoyed themselves.

We came to WV specifically to celebrate my nieces 30th. We stayed in Ridge View Retreat #503. The cabin was clean, had everything you could need and full of all amenities. We are in the WAY BACK-HILLS of WV, but thankfully they have a restaurant on the properties. We white water rafted on Saturday the 1/2 day lower new half and had a blast. Ranging from 2-5 and Tug was our guide, he was a fantastic guide. His knowledge of the area is extensive and he talks about the coal history of the town all through the river. He was fun, personable and made us feel safe and reassured we had nothing to worry about.

My family and went on a zip line canopy tour here for my birthday. The zip line tour was a lot of fun and the guides were friendly and good. We had Anna, Levi and Roy. Anna and Levi were really good, especially Anna. I have ziplined before but they did a good job with fitting of the harnesses, explaining the safety rules and how to slow yourself down as you get to the platform at the end of the ride. We rode 9 zip lines. I think that there was supposed to be 10 but a platform was down for repair so we didn't get the "full" canopy ride. But it was still a lot of fun and worth the cost. It was also really cool to meet different people in the group. I was paired up with a very nice lady from Canada which was really cool. They also have climbing tours, whitewater rafting, a water park, camping spots, cabins and a water park. It is also located not to far from Summersville WV and Beckley WV, which both have restaurants, hotels, etc. Oak Hill is pretty small place so you need to go to those places to do much else. There is also a very cool overlook on the property of the river. It is definitely worth the trip and we would do it again and maybe even try an ATV ride!

Went with some fellas for a guys' weekend. None of us were particularly experienced in white water rafting, but the upper and lower Gauley looked fun. Due to the size of our party, we had two guides, and did the overnight option. Guides were awesome on the river, and were legit cutting up ingredients for our meals in front of us. I'm not saying this was gourmet, but they worked us hard on the river, fed us well with actual good food not from a can, and were just all around awesome people. I would totally recommend. Good food, good rapids, good people. Great experience.

Spent all day here in the water park only. Kids loves it. I observed-not for big girls! Lol Alcohol served but not till 2. Alcohol slushees sold at 11, machine was broke. Food was ok-fore brick pizza good French fries really good!!

We had an awesome whitewater rafting trip. Our guide, Nick, was knowledgeable and friendly and made sure everyone had a great experience.

Wow the kids had a great time.. I thought I was in shape but pulling my self up onto the water bounce house stuff is tuff...my 4 year old even got to use the zip line the all loved it.restrooms and changing areas are near the lak e and also near registration area

We went zip lining here this weekend. This was my first time zip lining and I am terrified of heights. Our guides: Liz, Zack, and Ryan, were great! They were very patient with me, talked me through my anxiety, and made sure I had a fun, safe adventure. I highly recommend this place for your zip linking adventure. There are two sway bridges that are pretty scary if you're afraid of heights but everyone was fine with me going super slow and I got though it. If I can do it, so can you!

It's hard to please 18 women all at once but Ace did it flawlessly. Mama's Adventure trip swung into the long weekend with zip lining lead by Carlee, Cole and Zack. Even our most timid friend was smiling with delight as she wizzed into the end of the line. After a long day coming in from Myrtle Beach, Cleveland, Columbus and Youngstown and Pittsburgh we were pleasantly surprised at the clean, air-conditioned and well-maintained cabins. We rafted with Bobby, Christine and Brice who were seasoned experts that made us feel confident and prepared with their lessons and leadership. They know the river and we found strength and communication we didn't know we had! It was a huge rush and a perfect summer day in paradise. Terry's mountain biking tour was comprehensive and skill building and the trail was approachable and exciting. Our friends who didn't bike loved the pontoon tour of the lake where they could watch people free solo the surrounding rock faces. Before the trip most of us had never met and we left with an even BIGGER itch to scratch for trying out new fun with our new great friends. Ace has a huge campus with tons of activities. It's a logistical marvel with service, consistency and kindness honed. Can't wait to organize more trips since it's so close!

Recently went on a white water rafting trip here and it was wonderful! Their property is beautiful and they offer a ton of activities to entertain anyone in the family. I ended up finding a groupon deal for my rafting trip which was awesome, but they were fairly priced as is. Their facilities were very nice with men's and women's changing rooms with bathrooms and showers. The staff was all extremely friendly and helpful. We had a father/son duo for our rafting trip and they were amazing! Very personable and got into the history of WV and the river we were on. We went through some amazing rapids and had great fun. We stopped on the river for lunch and I was impressed with the layout. We were provided with pulled pork, pulled chicken, potato salad, tortellini salad, chips, salsa, etc., there were definitely choices for all. We had a decent stay during lunch and had time to wade in the river and relax before getting back to rafting. On the water we had a fun time navigating level 3-5 rapids and definitely got some good splashes. There were 2 opportunities to swim outside of the boat and have the current flow you down the river. There was also one place to get out and jump off a large rock. Upon return from the trip we were welcomed by the bus driver with beverages (beer included!). It was a perfect end to a great trip. I would definitely go back again and recommend to anyone looking to go rafting!
