Pretty dirty and gross everywhere but the lobby. The pillow and blankets are folded when you check in so I’m assuming they’re cleaned, but the capsule rooms themselves are definitely not cleaned. The bathrooms and showers are filthy and garbages on each floor don’t seem to be cleaned/changed out. You can pay for a locker to store your things but it’s too thin/narrow to hold to fit suitcases. For such a clean country you’d think this hostel would be better maintained, especially with the amount of guests coming in and out. That being said, if you’re ok with the lack of cleanliness for a low price to stay somewhere in Tokyo, with a decent location and pretty nice staff, then this place is for you.

The location was great. I’ve spent time before in the area, so was a good shout for my last few days in Japan. The metro is close by on both sides of the road. It was basic, but reasonable for the price. The room has to be addressed though by Management. As I’ve read many comments regarding the hot, stuffy air in the room. It was difficult to sleep and only 20 degrees. That would be unbearable in summer. 100% I also agree at other comments regarding the black female receptionist. At check in, she was demanding, rude and i felt she was abrupt and not pleasant. There was a male receptionist the following day who was very helpful and informative. My summary though, I would return if the air conditioning was improved. Maybe the lady staff member could benefit from re training and how to treat guests on arrival. It’s the last thing you want after such a long few days travelling to get to the country.

Great capsule hotel in Tokyo! Can be loud in the rooms, but it’s a lot better than other options around shinjuku! it’s important to note that the mattresses are extremely thin, so it is close to sleeping on the ground. But the location and service makes up for it in my opinion. The aircon in the rooms are both good in the winter and the summer, so don’t be afraid for cold/hot nights!

Strange place to stay in and nowhere close to being as clean as these pictures are claiming it is. Stayed here for 4 nights (unwillingly) whilst visiting around Tokyo. WiFi is absolutely non existent in the rooms. They have a ridiculous amount of WiFi points but it cuts out for about 30secs every 10secs. I even heard the woman, who’s Japanese on reception call the providers and complain in English. I understand that check in is not until 4pm but turning up at 12:30pm and after a flight through the night we were told we couldn’t settle the payment and were not told anything about the property. Just that we could store our bags in the luggage lobby. So we decided to go out and get some food. Coming back at around 6pm we could finally check in but were greeted by Someone new who thought they’d already checked us in and told us about the property. Thus began the lengthy process of checking in and being told about the property, aka coin operated showers that function for 10mins at a time and are only in the basement. There are no showers on the floors the rooms are on, only toilets. You can’t wear your shoes up to the rooms and there is a shoe closet for people to put their shoes in but that’s an every person for themselves situation. We were given allocated spaces upon checking in only to find out that other people had occupied those spaces so that’s a pretty pointless thing to have. Our shoes were also moved by other guests to take or retake our allocated spaces. We were offered lockers to put our bags in which I asked “is it for our big backpacks” and I was told there are places for big bags it just for anything you think is valuable. These are 1000Yen to rent. So we declined. Only to find out that when you go to your dorm there is nowhere to put your bags and the ones to “house the valuables” is about as wide as a post-it note. Everyone’s stuff is just dumped is random places. The place is actually a really messy hostel. Our beds were made fine but as I went to go get into my pod there was about 4-5 used tissues on the shelf inside. I went back downstairs to tell reception and the guy on the desk came and cleared them out and changed all my bedding for me so that I can appreciate. Checkout is at 11 so for those 5 hours I couldn’t check in I don’t know what they were doing but It certainly wasn’t cleaning out the rooms. The toilet situation should be assessed by the city council. The toilets are disgusting. They constantly smell and are a complete mess. There are signs telling people not to shave ect in there but the rules clearly aren’t enforced. There is hair all over the sink and products that have been left by others guests that house keeping clearly don’t through out. Their solution to stinky bathrooms is to open a window…. So the only solution to use the bathroom was to go to the shower room down in the basement, even to brush your teeth. The only cleans ones are in the shower rooms (there’s one) and the two in reception that you’re not allowed to use past 10pm. They seem to be focused on the wrong things here. I was told I had to go and put a shirt on as I made my way down the elevator to take a shower. Mind you I had shorts and a towels wrapped around me. I was told we’re a mixed hotel and there are other guests even though some walk around in the knickers… apparently there’s signs around but there isn’t at all. Talk about a power trip. Not being able to wear my shoes up to the room is contradictory because it looks like they can’t even be bothered to put the hoover around. We had to go ask reception to come empty the bins in the dorms and even then some of the stuff was left in them. Expect more consideration the prices range this is listed at. The two lads that were there were very helpful. Location is good though as you have a subway station virtually on your doorstep.

Really bad experience, I booked 4 nights and didn’t moove because they demand payed up front. I wonder why. The sheets were cleaned but the amount of dust and garbage around the matress was gross. It’s impossible, they don’t clean for more than months for the amnount of dust on it. Toilets igual, some out of order. Other there was a spilled basket with garbage on the female toilet that was there like that for more than 24 hours, a proof they don’t clean. The toilets don’t have light, you pray before you go there. The smell in the rooms is really bad. It’s the worst capsule hotel I have haver been in Japan and I was in many places before. Even the public areas aren’t cleaned enough. The showers have mold in every corner. The tapestries are old and full of dust, never seen water in their life. Forget the location and find another place, this doesn’t meet the basic cleanless standards.

one night stay max or not at all..the location is very good 2 minute walk from station and staff is super kind. paying for a cheap place to stay i didn’t expect much. however with that being said i genuinely think the owner needs to up this place or it needs to get reinspected to meet health and safety conditions. stayed for 4 night and not once was the washroom cleaned. there were clogged toilets feminine products and toilet paper on the ground in the washroom. on top of that it’s REAKS!!! it’s so smelly i gagged the whole time i was in there and had to cover my face genuinely smells so bad. there were flies both dead and alive in the stalls on the mirrors and in the sink. what looked like someone spit tooth paste on the mirror which was there when i arrived and still there when i left. i genuinely think it probably gets cleaned once a month if that. staff even came into the room to change sheets and nothing else was cleaned. i loved the bed set up as it was capsule style but the mattress itself was brutal. woke up with hip, back, neck, and shoulder pain. one night i couldn’t even sleep from the pulsing in my back from how hard the beds were, kinda felt like they weren’t even there and i was sleeping on the wood. i could deal with the washroom maybe for one night again if the beds were fixed however i would not recommend anyone to stay here unless it was a quick one night stay. keep in mind however it is cheap and you do get what you paid for. but the cleanliness is definitely not up to standards for any place you are paying to stay at.

I had a good sleeping experience in the basic mixed dorm. The boxes are pretty big and they provide a good noise isolation from one another. The bedding is on the more traditional japanese style so pretty hard but you get used to it. The toilets and bathrooms of the sixth floor were pretty gross and not cleaned daily which made me uncomfortable but don't prevent you from getting some rest I guess. There aren't enough showers in the basement and some people take too long. I'd say it's okay for the price but they should clean it more often.

I’m happy with my stay here, the staff and other guest were pleasant, bedding was very clean and comfy, and the fact that you get a locker means i felt safe with my cameras. Yes some things are lacking, I had a sag in my curtain so people could see in in passing , but it didn’t bother me too much, staff are present on site until 10:30 I think as well so if you need help they’re there. Good value for money, good location.

Yelp
ACE INN is easily my favorite, convenient hostel whenever I need a place to stay in Tokyo. I can't even begin to recount how many times I've stayed here but it's definitely in the high range. For a few reasons too: - Only ¥2000 a night, so it's a cheap deal that's often hard to find in Tokyo - Close to Shinjuku Station, where all the buses and trains connect to in Eastern Tokyo - Showers and faucet areas are clean - They watch over your belongings if you choose to check-out and come back later to grab your things Some things to keep in mind when selecting ACE INN are: - Showers will cost ¥100 for ten minutes, but if you're a guy, you should have no problem with this - Lockers are available but are not able to store large luggage. The only thing ACE INN really lacks is access to an easily accessible and known lounge area for backpackers. This hostel has purely been come-and-go for myself, and I've rarely ever been able to really meet other backpackers. But really, all it takes is for you to take initiative to speak to other guests and you'll likely get some connections and a new friend. Overall, they've been great and I owe them a lot for getting myself in a safe environment whenever I overestimate how much partying I can handle in Shinjuku lol (but granted, that partying began at 9:00 AM and lasted until 1:00 AM...) Oh, and you'll probably feel a shake-up if you are staying on the top floor with the 12-bed dorm style room. No worries, you should be safe! Accessible directly by Akebonobashi Station on the Toei Shinjuku Subway Line, or a 30 minute walk from Shinjuku.

Yelp
Came here because I mis-booked my vacation and left me potentially homeless for yet another night. This time I had a lot of luggage with me and arrived to Tokyo around 9:30 pm or so. It was really late and I frantically looked for lodging. I was extremely stressed out and booked ace inn online. They later sent me an email confirming my booking. I was relieved. I searched for internet cafes and one was 3200 per night (no bed); The capsule hotels near Tokyo station was 6500 yen per night for females and 5300 yen for males; whilst Ace Inn Shinjuku was only 3200+ per night regardless of gender. They have both male and female mixed floors, as well as one exclusively male floor and another exclusively female floor. They also have a community room. The inn is a hostel. They have English speakers available which is a plus. The service staff are very nice and friendly. The whole hostel though, is outdated but everything is pretty clean and everything works fine. You have the option of leaving your luggage behind the counter or you may take it with you to your floor. There are lockers on each floor and shelves to place your larger luggage. They allowed me to leave my luggage there after check out which is 11:00 am for the day. The capsule was pretty comfortable, the mat/mattress is a little thin, and the blanket was a little small. A con is that the curtains to the capsule does not cover the top of the capsule completely, making so the bright room light shines right through, which made it difficult to sleep without a mask. the locker was really thin, so just enough to place your purse or small backpack and hang 2-3 jackets. Overall, I'm glad Ace Inn has the availability to save me from being homeless on a cold night in Japan. The stay was good, greeted by friendly helpful staff, and extremely affordable. Just the curtains to the capsule bothered me a lot.

Yelp
I stayed here for a week long during my summer break in Japan a few years ago. As a foreigner and young female traveling alone, this was my first hostel ever and I really enjoyed it (well most of it). Sleeping in a closed, confined space was somewhat comforting to me for some reason. They have curtains that helps with privacy too. There is an upper level "bedroom" that is cheaper and I did try that one out during my second stay. It's basically a bunch of beds laid out in one large open space where anyone can book and sleep in. I do not recommend that unless you're a male and you're okay with loud noises into the night. Okay so it depends on the strangers you will be lucky enough to spend the night with but still, I couldn't sleep due to a few drunk girls laughing into the night and I woke up to a naked young guy walking around saying good morning to everyone. But I suppose that's not the hostel's fault; just its consumers. Other than that, the bathrooms and toilets had a strange smell to it. I'm assuming it's from all the vomiting this place endures from passing party goers and travelers. But hey, the place is cheap so it will do. For showers, I highly recommend you carry shower slippers around. Always. Customer service was excellent. No problems there.
