Ace Inn Shinjuku

I stayed at this hostel for a little over 2 weeks. In that time, I can safely say I've gotten an in-depth look at what this hostel has to offer. I pre-booked my hostel stay and I don't think the price was all too bad. Location-wise, Ace Inn is in a great spot, right next to Akebonobashi station and being close enough to Shinjuku for a not-so unpleasant walk. Getting elsewhere in Tokyo takes very little time, or money, to do. Cleanliness is where this place takes a bit of a nosedive, thanks in no small part to what seems like negligence from the owner/landlord, seemingly not wanting to invest the money to repair broken down laundry machines, doors, and even toilets on the various floors. The staff are all fantastic, and are the heart of Ace Inn. Willing to bend over backwards to solve issues that guests alert them to, they clearly love their job and/or the clientele. They deserve more support from upper management. The facilities have a lot to offer, multiple lobbies (ground and 9th floor), a laundry room in the basement, multiple appliances in either lobby to cook food with, a luggage storage area, and more. All in all, this hostel was a pleasant stay, and all the major negative points were generally tied to troublemakers and drunks who damaged property or did not pick up after themselves. Also, they could really use a TV on the ground floor for those who want to relax there.

Okay hostel for the price in Tokyo, alright for 1 night stay. I booked the female dorm and it was spacious and it was like a capsule bed. Only downside is you have to go all the way to the basement to reach the showers. Overall ok for what else is out there.

Worst hostel I've seen, smell is awful on all floors, bathrooms are so dirty I would rather walk 30 minutes before using these. And that's not mentioning the broken showers, clogged drains that flood, broken chairs in the common area, nasty kitchen with other people's dishes, not cleaned capsule (not even sure if the sheets were changed), loud and obnoxious people on the same floor, no room for storing bags, horrible elevator that closes on you so fast. Don't get tricked into putting a payment in advance, I stayed at way nicer places for the same price in other parts of Japan.

I don’t suggest staying in this hotel for the night it’s disgusting no maintenance being done at all mot worth spending a penny here! Management is not Japanese their foreigners probably from uk? They don’t know how the culture of Japan is when it comes to mannerisms. Secondly they don’t offer a tooth brush unless you pay 100yen as well as the towel they charge 200yen for the rental. Check in is at 4pm ugh this place should get foreclosed Shane on foreigners attempting to do business in a country so beautiful as Japan shame on the owner! Here is a video of the lack of cleanliness please find a better hostel there are so much and they are Japanese people that make your stay unforgettable! DONT WASTE YOUR TOME

Definitely wouldn’t recommend for women travellers, male worker entered the female only dorm multiple times whilst we were changing without knocking. Also had to walk past the front desk and lobby in towel after every shower booooo. Also ants everywhere and pretty poor conditions for the price. Also cockroaches.

Check in is not 24 hours. We were never sent the door code to self check in and no one answered the 24/7 help line. We never saw the beds or rooms but what we did see was basic and dirty. I would only recommend if you’re looking for a cheap place to stay for a short time.

I seldom write comments except this time.It was not that bad but not good enough to let me re-visit again. First, the room has awful smell of shoes and socks, to make matter even worse, the air refresher spray mixed with those smell.... not recommend if you have nose allergy.Secondly, I don't mind paying ¥2000 deposit to use locker key, but the western guy at reception desk told me to pay the exact amount. He has NO CHANGE for me. (I only got ¥5000 + ¥1000 bank notes). Are you serious ??? Luckily, I remembered I got 2 ¥500 coinsThirdly, they should prepare shoes lockers for guests to keep their shoes locked to keep such awful feet smell awayFourth, I found a pack of an opened peanuts snack in my bed. WHY was it there ? Did the staff check yhe the cleanliness of the room ?I stayed 2 nights, once and for all.If you look for convenient place near Shinjuku I would recommend this place. Otherwise, you deserved better.

Literally avoid this hotel at all costs. There was literal blood in the showers, most of the guests were American and of course, they're very loud obnoxious and selfish. In the capsule room they were walkinf with shoes on, speakinf loudly at 7am and so on. I feel bad for the manager working because she did her best but what can you do with selfish tourists?

ACE INN is easily my favorite, convenient hostel whenever I need a place to stay in Tokyo. I can't even begin to recount how many times I've stayed here but it's definitely in the high range. For a few reasons too: - Only ￥2000 a night, so it's a cheap deal that's often hard to find in Tokyo - Close to Shinjuku Station, where all the buses and trains connect to in Eastern Tokyo - Showers and faucet areas are clean - They watch over your belongings if you choose to check-out and come back later to grab your things Some things to keep in mind when selecting ACE INN are: - Showers will cost ￥100 for ten minutes, but if you're a guy, you should have no problem with this - Lockers are available but are not able to store large luggage. The only thing ACE INN really lacks is access to an easily accessible and known lounge area for backpackers. This hostel has purely been come-and-go for myself, and I've rarely ever been able to really meet other backpackers. But really, all it takes is for you to take initiative to speak to other guests and you'll likely get some connections and a new friend. Overall, they've been great and I owe them a lot for getting myself in a safe environment whenever I overestimate how much partying I can handle in Shinjuku lol (but granted, that partying began at 9:00 AM and lasted until 1:00 AM...) Oh, and you'll probably feel a shake-up if you are staying on the top floor with the 12-bed dorm style room. No worries, you should be safe! Accessible directly by Akebonobashi Station on the Toei Shinjuku Subway Line, or a 30 minute walk from Shinjuku.

Came here because I mis-booked my vacation and left me potentially homeless for yet another night. This time I had a lot of luggage with me and arrived to Tokyo around 9:30 pm or so. It was really late and I frantically looked for lodging. I was extremely stressed out and booked ace inn online. They later sent me an email confirming my booking. I was relieved. I searched for internet cafes and one was 3200 per night (no bed); The capsule hotels near Tokyo station was 6500 yen per night for females and 5300 yen for males; whilst Ace Inn Shinjuku was only 3200+ per night regardless of gender. They have both male and female mixed floors, as well as one exclusively male floor and another exclusively female floor. They also have a community room. The inn is a hostel. They have English speakers available which is a plus. The service staff are very nice and friendly. The whole hostel though, is outdated but everything is pretty clean and everything works fine. You have the option of leaving your luggage behind the counter or you may take it with you to your floor. There are lockers on each floor and shelves to place your larger luggage. They allowed me to leave my luggage there after check out which is 11:00 am for the day. The capsule was pretty comfortable, the mat/mattress is a little thin, and the blanket was a little small. A con is that the curtains to the capsule does not cover the top of the capsule completely, making so the bright room light shines right through, which made it difficult to sleep without a mask. the locker was really thin, so just enough to place your purse or small backpack and hang 2-3 jackets. Overall, I'm glad Ace Inn has the availability to save me from being homeless on a cold night in Japan. The stay was good, greeted by friendly helpful staff, and extremely affordable. Just the curtains to the capsule bothered me a lot.

I stayed here for a week long during my summer break in Japan a few years ago. As a foreigner and young female traveling alone, this was my first hostel ever and I really enjoyed it (well most of it). Sleeping in a closed, confined space was somewhat comforting to me for some reason. They have curtains that helps with privacy too. There is an upper level "bedroom" that is cheaper and I did try that one out during my second stay. It's basically a bunch of beds laid out in one large open space where anyone can book and sleep in. I do not recommend that unless you're a male and you're okay with loud noises into the night. Okay so it depends on the strangers you will be lucky enough to spend the night with but still, I couldn't sleep due to a few drunk girls laughing into the night and I woke up to a naked young guy walking around saying good morning to everyone. But I suppose that's not the hostel's fault; just its consumers. Other than that, the bathrooms and toilets had a strange smell to it. I'm assuming it's from all the vomiting this place endures from passing party goers and travelers. But hey, the place is cheap so it will do. For showers, I highly recommend you carry shower slippers around. Always. Customer service was excellent. No problems there.
