I return regularly to this hotel, and have recommended to others who now do the same, because of the excellent, friendly service offered by staff, particularly Alan and Kevin, the managers. The hotel offers single rooms which is ideal for the solo traveller, these rooms still offer everything needed including tea/coffee, hairdryer, plenty wardrobe space, a desk with drawers and bedside unit with more storage. Bedrooms are always spotless, as are bathrooms and showers are hot! Acorn offers very competitive prices and good value for money. Breakfast is pre-bookable with plenty choice of full Scottish cooked, pastries, cereals, yoghurt, tea/coffee/hot chocolate. Location is ideal for city centre and West End. Parking is available on street, free between 6pm and 8am and on Friday/Saturday. As with everywhere central in Glasgow, day time parking is a bit trickier due to GCC limitations on length of stay (3 hours) and cost. Payment is made through RingGo app or at on street machines. There is also an underground all day car park within walking distance which is less than £10 (cash only) for the working day. Otherwise there are 24 hour commercial parking options en route to city centre.

I'll start with the positives in that the staff are wonderful, attentive and caring. The location is great and if you are staying over the weekend, parking on the street opposite is free. The decor is very rustic and if you like that sort of thing then thats also great. Unfortunately though the negatives outweighed the positives for me. When I arrived to my room, I went to use the toilet and the door handle came off as it was not connected to the door, I then went to charge my devices, and found that one of the screws was removed from the bedside charging port and it was partially disconnected from the wall, also generally the room wasnt that clean, dust and little bits of grit on the floor. The bathroom was very well cleaned though. While it seems like a small thing I was also a little disappointed there were no teabags for a morning drink, however coffee and hot chocolate were available. I told the receptionist who was very helpful, and I was upgraded into a double bed room. This room while it had a double bed was actually smaller and the bathroom wasnt as nice. In this room as well as the previous room, all the light fittings were wonky on the walls, the desk-front was delaminated and was about as dusty as the previous room. Although I did have teabags this time! Overall, the stay was pleasant enough, the bed was comfortable and as a room to sleep in it is definitely functional, but I feel like these things are easily fixed and the attention to detail would make this an easy 5 stars. I will also add the breakfast was very reasonably priced and very good.

The hotel is in a quiet location, which was great for me, as that's exactly what I wanted. The hotel staff I met were lovely and friendly. The date of my stay was October 10th 2025. My room was a single, which suited my needs and was an adequate size. I didn't like the brown furniture, but that's a personal thing. It would benefit from being painted a light colour just to brighten up the room. The en suite was good except for the shower, the doors did not meet thus allowing water to egress between the gap. The toilet roll holder seemed to be a piece of angle metal that wasn't even round! The shower head was way too high and no means of adjusting it, and it wasn't fitted into the wall properly. These things tend to let a place down, and they are so easy to put right. I didn't get proper housekeeping on my room. The first day it was fine, the second nothing in the bathroom was done, and the third the bed wasn't made properly. For these reasons, I have given the hotel a score of three.

Decent hotel in the area we needed to be for a family wedding. Breakfast was well cooked and plenty of choices if a cooked breakfast wasn't what you wanted. Rooms were good. Maybe a little small because the beds were quite large and very comfortable. Bathrooms had plenty of hot water and soap dispensers. Television in the room also. Couldn't fault the staff, always available and very helpful. Would definitely stay again.

Great hotel. Reasonably priced and the room was well presented and of high standard. Very comfortable beds and pillows. Kevin was very helpful after an initial slight mishap, so thanks to him. Good location and near most of the key parts of the city. Warm and friendly rather than corporate.

I stayed at the Acorn Hotel in Glasgow for two nights and had such a lovely experience! The room was clean, comfortable, and quiet—just what I needed after long days exploring the city. But what truly made my stay exceptional was the hospitality. A special thank you to Alan, the hotel manager, who went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. He was incredibly kind and helpful, always ready with a smile and great recommendations. And his homemade breakfast each morning was amazing—fresh, delicious, and made with such care. It really felt like a home away from home. If you’re visiting Glasgow and looking for a cozy, friendly place to stay, I can’t recommend Acorn Hotel enough. Thank you, Alan, for making my visit so memorable!

Room was ideal for the one night for myself. Clean and the bed was comfy, slept very well. Decent shower too and always nice to have tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Check in was painless and Ryan was friendly and accommodating. The location is great, so close to city centre. Would definitely stay again!

Had such a wonderful stay, I wish I was staying for more than a night. I was greeted with a huge smile from the front desk attendant. The bed was super comfortable (especially the pillows), the shower had great water pressure, & it was great walking distance to the city centre & west end. There’s also a park right across the street, that made for a lovely evening stroll, & there’s a playground for any families with kids. Breakfast was also made on the spot, versus it sitting in a tray for hours like most places back home. 10/10, will definitely stay here again my next trip :)

Yelp
Acorn Hotel was our first stop in Glasgow & have to say, wouldn't stay there again We arrived early - having just gotten off the plane & they were nice to stow our luggage until check in. What they neglected to tell me however, was that neighborhood parking was all metered & it's a teeny tiny box at the corner where you pay - there was no signage.... but the hotel sold a £2 parking pass - which I was not offered Well, we never saw the meter box so guess who got a parking ticket! ME! Nothing like a £30 welcome to Scotland.... It was an unusually sweltering hot few days & the hotel has no A/C. There are no lifts & no one offered to help me w/ luggage so I alone schlepped my & my parent's luggage up 3 flights of stairs... while they watched Enter the room & the blinds had been left wide open - allowing the baking sun to heat up the rooms even more - gggggreat Only a bath towel was provided - no wash cloth or hand towel..... or soap. My bed slanted to 1 side & in combination w/ the heat, it was a struggle to sleep, given the windows only opened a crack Oh yeah, and let's not forget the noise. You're right beside Kelvingrove Park which is right beside Glasgow University - think drunken kids yelling & cavorting all night Only saving grace about the place was that they had free WiFi and the fact we were near the bus stop.....the hotel is far away from most sites so be prepared to take public transportation.....because you'll *never* find parking if you try to drive So if staying in Glasgow for a period of time? I'd recommend finding something a bit more central w/ staff who will take care of us newbie tourists

Yelp
Stayed here for a night a few weeks back. Mixed feelings about this hotel. The exterior wasn't the nicest, it could do with a bit of makeover. Check in was a brief affair, not much chat from the person on reception. Guess some people would be happy with this though. First thing I noticed when I walked in was the heat, it was overpowering. Was worried our room might be the same but it wasn't too bad once we cracked the window open a little. There's also no lift in the hotel, which isn't good for people with mobility problems or big suitcases. On to the good points... Hairdryer and GHD straighteners in the room. Result! Lightens your load a little bit having these extras. Lovely little biscuits in there also. The bed was pretty comfy, decor was modern and the bathroom clean. The TV in the room was a little bit of the small side, but we hardly used that and I doubt anyone would really. It's more of a base to stay kinda place. Unfortunately, there was a slight smell of smoke in the room. Perhaps someone had been having a cheeky cig out the window. The view from the window was pretty though. The water temperature in the shower wasn't hot enough, which was a shame. Nothing worse than a lukewarm shower. Breakfast the next morning was not bad. Perhaps a little greasy. The lady serving us was, again, not very chatty. Found the staff in this place a little bit unattentive and perhaps a bit fed up. Maybe it's a morale thing that's going on. It costs around £80 a night for this hotel, I think this is asking a little too much for what you get. Not a terrible stay but for a three star hotel, it could have been a little better.

Yelp
This hotel was disappointing in almost every respect. You arrive to a permanently locked door, openable by a room key which, of course, you don't have on check in. On ringing the bell you are met by a very fierce lady who, to be fair, is polite and efficient but as far from warm as it is possible to get. By contrast the man at check out was charming and extremely helpful and single-handedly earned the hotel an extra star. The room is very small and depressing. Everything is done as cheaply as it is possible to get away with. Cheap, but modern, fixtures have been used throughout and maintenance is not good. The beside wall lamp was half detached from the wall. Also, it was so dim there was no way to read from it. The bed was just ok, although ridiculously small for a double, the pillows were foam and horrible. The room was clean but the carpet thoroughly stained. The bathroom was modern but taps etc. were cheap. The shower had good flow but the enclosure was small and it was impossible to get in and close the door without water splashing outside. The towel rail above the wc was hanging by a thread. We did not try the breakfast which was extra. We paid £70 for a "double" room, which I thought was about double what it was worth.

Yelp
The Acorn is a really nice hotel in a quiet area of Glasgow. The city centre is not far away and the west end is a short stroll in the other direction. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The staff are really friendly and helpful.

Yelp
Stayed here last night and it's perfectly efficient for place to just crash. I had a single room, so a twin bed, which at 6 feet tall, is just way too small but it was fine for one night. The fixtures are modern and the shower was very nice. I'll never understand hotels allergies to fitted bottom bed sheets but I slept alright. The room is hilariously tiny but who really spends that much time in their room anyway. The wifi was strong which as a foreign business traveler is very important to me. The front desk clerk was also very helpful and incredibly friendly. You're not going to get a high end corporate hotel experience here but if you like some old world charm with just enough modern convenience for the right price then this is a good place. Oh! And visit the pub next door! Great place
