Incredible open air acropolis that can be visited 24/7. I visited on separate occasions with the groups and solo in the evening to explore without the crowds and take my own time with it. So much history around the area and a lot of signage describing everything you are looking at, when it was built and its purpose. Fantastic, would recommend.

I am surprised that the Acropolis of Rhodes doesn’t receive stronger reviews. Granted that it isn’t as stunning (or as well known) as the Acropolis of Athens. It is a stunning place and a testament to just how widely the ancient Greeks spread throughout the Mediterranean basin. Free entry. The stadium is open for use, and we saw many locals exercising on the track. The odeon has been restored. The temple of Apollo is amazing. The acropolis is easily accessible from the town center.

Not the flashiest of ancient ruins, but the stadium and Odeon are well preserved and the placards tell the story of an ancient academy that can be easily seen from the ruins outliyon the grounds. There isn't much left of the Temple of Apollo or the Temple of Artemis because they were heavily bombed in WW 2 but there are some ruins and good explanatory displays. If you have more than a day in Rhodes it's worth the visit. It's free, quiet and has great views. A peaceful respite compared to the huge crowds of the Old Town.

This was such an interesting visit, still lots of work to do but amazing to see remains of the temple, arena and theatre. The size is just mind blowing and if these stones could talk….. Thoroughly recommend, it is definitely worth a visit. There are toilets within the wall on the left on the way down from the temple. Great little cafe, Acropolis cafe, at the bottom with tasty cake and reasonable prices, coffee lovely. Currently no charge to visit the Acropolis so why not? I hope they continue developing this site as it would be absolutely amazing. Has more to see than Acropolis at Lindos in my humble opinion!

Very nice acropolis on top of the hill. You can walk from the center of the town or take a bus. There’s a café at the entrance with lots of seating and parking. You can park there. The entire site is comprised of the stadium, the amphitheater, ruins of the Apollon temple, and the Artemis (though only the foundations remain for that one). On Sunday, the site visit was free of charge otherwise it was €10 per person for adults. You can stroll around and look at this marvelous site. I suggest some good footwear because the paths around the site are sometimes rough.

We were told by hotel staff that it wasn't worth the walk and I couldn't disagree MORE. The actual temple was under restoration and was covered in scaffolding but honestly the rest made up for it all. Beautiful stadium, theatre and all around layout. Most sites don't mention that there's also a temple to Artemis besides the one to Apollo which was the one with scaffolding so that was a really pleasant surprise. Amazing views from the top too. MAKE SURE YOU KNOW HOW TO GET THERE 😭😭 the signs are super misleading. There was loads of signs inside through with some sick information so I was loving that.

Very good, picturesque walk to and from the acropolis. If you’re staying in Rhodes town definitely do go, it’s worth seeing some ancient history and reading about what it signified. We went on a Saturday morning and didn’t pay for any tickets which was a bonus. They also have a little gallery with the history of the excavations and there are toilets nearby.

A fascinating area of Hellenistic archeology. The arena is particularly stunning. Tip- you can enter the site from the top or bottom ends (google maps takes you to the top). Roadways make access to some parts accessible. Drift amongst the ruins and admire the massive collection of labelled artefacts that presumably need sorting through! There is also a pleasant café and toilets.
