The performance was great. This was an awesome capstone to our Valentine’s Day evening. Will definitely attend again soon.

Easy ticket purchase & parking. Actor's Theater is a great venue for any performance & the Candle light performance of Vivaldi's Four Seasons was no acception. Bravo to the quartet - Beautiful!

Gordon Shumway

We saw a string quartet playing Hans Zimmer musical score selections. Wonderful venue, not a bad seat in the house.

Such a unique experience! I took my wife and our 12yr old daughter and we loved it! I do wish people would respect the cell phone rules but I guess that’s the world we live in now. Anyhow to the musicians…Bravo!!

The Bach and Beatles Candlelight Concert at Actors Theater in Louisville was exceptional! Not a bad seat in the house, 60 minutes was perfect and the performance was superb!! Highly recommend!!

Have seen numerous shows here. The theatre is great, they constantly refresh their shows (if you don't like a recent adaptation, wait a season or two and a new crew will reinterpret. It helps keep the classics fresh and interesting).

Wonderful intimate theatre, I've enjoyed the shows I've seen there andthe staff provides good customer service.

Lovely night out with husband. Talented professional performers were very entertaining.

Yelp
Attended a play here today and enjoyed the set up & performance. The parking garage that is attached takes you directly into the lobby which is nice for avoiding rain. It was only $10 to park and they had a person operating parking rather than rely on the machines. The theater is nice and there truly isn't a bad seat in the house. The seats themselves are decently wide compared to some older theater seats. The attendants were nice and it was a quick and easy process to get in with the scannable tickets. I am looking forward to returning for another performance.

Yelp
It's been years since I've been back here! We parked in their garage because you can easily take the elevator down to the ticket booth. Parking is $10, but its worth it!! I enjoy the plays here. Lots of talented actors and the theater itself is nationally recognized. Bathrooms were a bit old school... There's a bar in the mezzanine with a few options but it does the job. One area featured art. Very cool! Can't wait to see another play!

Yelp
While I haven't been a good local patron lately, I consider Actors a gem in the city. Years ago as a college student I used to volunteer as an usher, which let me see several seasons of theatre. The Christmas Carol was an annual family tradition for locals, then came Gift of the Magi and now Dracula. Actors holds 3 theaters, all unique in size and vibe. The Pamela Brown is the largest and most traditional with 2 levels. The Bingham is round and doesn't have a bad seat, nor does the intimate Victor Jory. It has an attached garage and restaurant downstairs. Street parking may also be available. Check out their website to learn about season tickets, rush tickets, behind the scenes events and costume sales.

Yelp
Went to see the opening performance of this years Dracula. I've never been to this location before and was pleasantly surprised by the stadium seating and the smallness of the theatre itself. It is very quaint and I don't see where there is a bad seat in the house. I enjoyed the surrounding seating and the ability to see and hear so well. The staff was so friendly and professional and probably volunteering which in itself says a lot for this venue. The performance of Dracula was nothing short of amazing and the actors in my opinion could of gotten Oscars for their performances. I am so looking forward to going to another presentation at the Actors Theatre in not to distant future. Not only the theatre but the play Dracula was just what the doctor ordered.

Linda B.

Yelp
Actors Theatre has always been a staple to the Louisville community providing wonderful productions that many, including myself, look forward to every year. This year, after missing their annual productions for a couple of years due to Covid, I looked forward to the return of one of their greatest productions, Dracula. My family and I have made this a tradition and have attended for several years. They've adapted a new story line for Dracula promoting a biased, political agenda. It's not entertainment but their attempt to promote their beliefs. We would like to be entertained and to attend a play that my family looks forward to every year. We won't be wasting our money on this pathetic rendition that has zero to do with Dracula. If you're attempting to lower your attendance then you've succeeded.

Sydney B.

Yelp
I don't think I have appreciated Actors Theatre until now. I am not the biggest play watcher so I never attempted to see a show here. A friend wanted to see Dracula and I got free tickets to see A Christmas Carol so I finally got the opportunity to see what the hype was about. I honestly prefer seeing a show here than I do at The Performibg Art Center. The theaters are a lot smaller so there is not a bad seat and the prices are very reasonable. Both plays I have seen have been great so the shows are high quality. I would not be opposed to seeing another show here

Kelly J.

Yelp
Actors Theatre of Louisville is awesome! I've attended both plays and events in this space and it's always been great. The decor is beautifully done in the original colors with gold leaf accents and magnificent light fixtures. The lobby is my favorite part, the ceiling is gorgeous! Actors hosts shows, events, and festivals, including the Humana Festival of New American Plays, which is an annual showcase of new theatrical work. This is such an awesome event, and Actors is an amazing supporter of the theatrical arts for hosting it. They also have visual art throughout the lobbies, so they promote that as well as theatrical arts. During shows and events they have a bar open, and there's also the option of food and drinks from Milk Wood downstairs, which I highly recommend. If you're a fan of theatre I highly recommend checking out Actors. One of my favorite things each year is seeing Dracula during the Halloween season. It's so good!

Yelp
I have always enjoyed myself at Actors Theatre over the years. If you like the theatre, then you will likely find this local one to be quite satisfactory. Smaller than Kentucky Center for the Arts and larger than the Bunbury, I think Actors has the perfect size. It's very quaint without feeling too homey. This last visit was to see A Christmas Carol, and we sat on the first row of the balcony. It was perfect, especially for a short person that hates having to look over top of some tall person's head. The play was a bit different from years ago, yet we thoroughly enjoyed it. The actors did a nice job, although there was a bit of artistic license taken in the writing and production. The deviation didn't shatter me, as I'm not a Dickens purist, but if one was, I could see it possibly being a bit of a disappointment. The parking was paid for in advance with the tickets purchase, which is easy and convenient. The parking deck is tight and made for those concerned about climate change and not the gas-guzzling land barge SUV we were in. We found a spot on an end, hugged the edge, and tried to prevent some Prius from dinging the doors. It all worked out. The staff and ushers were all pretty nice. The venue was clean and the seats were comfortable enough, especially considering their age. I look forward to returning again.

Yelp
UPDATE: My last review for Actors was in 2014. I had been there numerous times then and I've been back numerous times since. That review? WAS ONLY TWO PARAGRAPHS! Actors Theatre deserves so much more than that. We have many places to see live theatre in this city and you should absolutely give them all a shot. When I hear about someone that has lived here their entire life and they've never been to Actors... I'm always a bit surprised. Eh... I understand some people don't love theatre but there are great stories being told at Actors every year. Maybe you don't want to subscribe to a season pass... that's fine but you should at least see one or two shows a year. There are many things to do downtown for entertainment. Out of them all, I think Actors is at the top of my list. My first show here was sometime around 2007 and I've been going back ever since. It started by seeing two or three shows a year. Over the past few years, that has morphed in to being a season pass holder. Fun fact: They have a 35 and under 50% discount on season tickets! Take advantage of that while you can! Now I'll admit... there are some plays that I don't like. The plays I love always outweigh the ones that I don't like. In the end, none of that matters because almost all of them are thought-provoking in some way. Actors Theatre is comprised of three different spaces. All of them unique in their own way. If I had one peeve, it would probably be that some of the spaces could use some minor renovations. While sometimes the seating area can seem cramped, there's not a bad seat in any of the spaces. If you don't like theatre, I don't think any review could convince you to go but you owe it to yourself to visit. If you don't want to do the typical play experience, fine. At least visit for one of the seasonal plays... being covered in blood at the end of Dracula might make you a theatre believer. I do wish they still performed A Christmas Story. They used to do it every year and that play was a fun one to watch. A couple of years ago they cut it in favor of A Christmas Carol and Santaland Diaries. The last thing to highlight would be the Humana Festival. The festival puts a spotlight on the city. That's not even mentioning how it has been going on for 43ish years now! I could live without sports at the Yum. I could live without certain restaurants downtown. I could even live without the Kentucky Center and all the musicals that roll through. Actors Theatre is one thing that I couldn't live without. It is one of my favorite things in the city.

Marie N.

Yelp
The venue is absolutely gorgeous. 90% of the time the plays are incredibly well done. I have unfortunately had one bad experience there and it was recently. I didn't stay around for the second part of the show because there was nothing about it that was worthy of the title that was being portrayed-which is so odd because for at least a decade I've always been enchanted by that particular piece. I want to chalk it up to personal preference. We will of course be back for next year's viewing assuming they use a different actor because he did nothing for the main character. I am intentionally leaving off the title of the play and I am intentionally reviewing this much later because I don't want to throw shade on the place itself. It's just that I did not like this particular rendition of the play that we saw it was completely beneath what they've done in the past.

Samantha D.

Yelp
I just love this place! I've been here 4 times and can't wait to go back. To begin with they have parking on-site which is a huge plus for downtown. They do charge you $10 but I feel like it is worth it especially during the winter. The theatre itself is small but the lobby right outside of the Pamela Brown Auditorium has the most beautiful ceiling worthy of a selfie! Once inside the Auditorium, there really are no bad seats. The seats are comfortable and easy to find. The ushers are very nice was well! They have a bar on the second floor of the lobby and prices are reasonable. If you are looking for a good date night option or just wanting to disconnect from things for a bit, check this place out. You won't regret it!

Yelp
If you are expecting a full carol singing cast, this is not it. The 2022 Actors Theatre production of the Christmas Carol is a faithful reading of the classic by a very talented actor in character which was well done. Does the big screen animation of the Ghosts take away from the production, yes. Is this the Christmas Carol we are used to for the last 40 years? No. But shame on the 50 or so people who left during the performance!! It was 80 minutes long, if it wasn't your favorite show if the year you still could have stayed. The performer was giving a heartfelt rendition of this story and you stood up and walked out. Bad behavior!!

Kathy V.

Yelp
I gotta tell you, my first visit to Actors Theatre left me underwhelmed. In retrospect now, it was the show that I didn't like and the theatre company has redeemed itself in my eyes and exceeded all my expectations. The first Actors show I ever saw was for a Yelp elite event, attending the opening night of "Our Town" several years ago. And.....I HATED it. After a bit of research, I figured that maybe that show just wasn't for me. Following a few sporadic visits for some smaller shows (The Tens, a Humana Festival show), the fella convinced me that we should get season tickets. I was even more game for buying season tickets when we found out the season was going to include "Angels in America"! The biggest highlight, and surprise that I wish I had known about years ago, was that season ticket purchasers under the age of 35 get half off of the season prices in certain levels! I only wish I had known sooner so I could have been taking advantage of this offer for longer! As it is, this 2017/2018 season has been wonderful and we are absolutely planning on buying season tickets for next year already! Seven...7 shows for $70! Angels in America, parts one and two would have cost that alone for the cheapest seats. It is an incredible deal that everyone that falls in to the under 35 category should really look into making room in their budget for! Important note: those packages DO NOT include Dracula or the Christmas shows. Which is fine by me....if they had, we probably would have sold our tickets for those shows. Instead, you get to see 2 Humana Festival plays! I do believe it gets you a discount on those shows, should you choose to buy tickets for them! The shows vary in subject matter, and are very professionally staged. Angels in America was impactful and the shows in the Bingham (in the round) make exceptionally creative use of the stage configuration! The Magic Play was unexpectedly touching. The only show this year I could have done without was Little Bunny Foo Foo. It was a children's show. And I honestly felt like....not a "children's show that grown ups will also enjoy". I absolutely hated it. But I kind of knew I would going in to it. We probably should have sound someone to give our tickets to. I hope these types of plays are few and far between, as part of the regular season. I don't have kids, I don't intend to have kids, and the theater was about half empty when we were there. It seemed like a strange choice to stage. I also wish it was possible to select the Humana Fest shows we were going to see with our season tickets. Instead they are just assigned to you, and the ones are tickets are for are the two I was least interested in...but still...for what amounts to $10 per show....I won't *really* be complaining! Anyway, the venue itself is lovely and offers several different performance spaces within. The ushers and box office staff are always friendly. And I can't wait to get a few more years of my 35 and under half price season ticket packages! High quality entertainment!

Drew G.

Yelp
I love this place. I've been coming here since I was a young child. Their plays are awesome about 90% of the time, in my humble opinion. It's a small venue and just about every seat in the house is worth the price. These actors work hard and it's a great value! My favorite production is a Christmas Carole. I take my family to see it every year that I can. It's a great tradition.

Max W.

Yelp
do not watch a christmas carol if you want to be entertained, it was a one man show, but to clarify the actor was great but the ai was terrible, people were walking out of the theater and falling asleep, the new owner is terrible but the actor was great

Shelby Z.

Yelp
Being the huge theatre nerd that I am, Actors Theatre has provided many nights of entertainment for me. From drama classics to locally-written, there's a show that can fit into anyone's interests. I used to be in an ushering club in high school so I was able to see all of their shows for free, which was AWESOME. The holidays are probably my favorite time to come, with Dracula, A Christmas Carol and a Christmas Story. Most of the shows here are straight plays that I've never heard of, but I love how I'm always introduced to something new. Actors Theatre also hosts a Humana Festival every spring, with a season of show that are locally-written. I have to admit they are sometimes very odd, but it's definitely a different experience in the theatre community. I'll continue to be an avid fan of Actors Theatre as long as I live in Louisville.

Tawnee H.

Yelp
Wow! I came here to watch a Christmas Story and I was completely blown away. The actors were so talented, impressive, and funny. The entire production was so well done. I was thinking that a classic Charles Dickens story might be a little bit boring for some, but even the seven year old with us absolutely loved it. You can get beer, wine, and cocktails from the bar which was nice. The theater is small, but clean and very beautiful. I would definitely come again.

Stephanie D.

Yelp
Gosh..... I don't know where to go with this review. Actors Theater of Louisville is an institution. It's pretty, intimate and yes, Dracula was good. It was a mix of camp (Renfield was hilarious), cool special effects, and used multiple actors in the same role to great affect. The actors had truly good singing voices and the lead Dracula had a great physicality about him; leaping over and onto things with ease. With all of that said, I was pretty miserable for much of the show. The seats were incredibly uncomfortable which was awful for my RA and fibromyalgia. It was also pretty chilly which added to my discomfort. Hours later I'm still sore. We'd hoped to go back for A Christmas Carol but I'll have to give how I'm feeling right now some thought before buying more tickets.

Allison M.

Yelp
Went to see Dracula for the 3 PM Saturday matinee. At least for the 2019 season, the actor who played Renfield completely stole the show! We called at noon to take advantage of the "student same day" deal. With fees, it came to $58 for 2 tickets. Because it's theater in the round, there is no bad seat in the house. All in all, the show lived up to the rave reviews and the theater itself provides a great setting.

Robert K.

Yelp
Nice venue with comfortable seating and good acoustics. Our Seats in Section 4. proved excellent. Beautiful rotunda located just next to the theater. I would watch another play here.

Marcia V.

Yelp
I have been wanting to see a show, any show at Actors for a while, and I just never got myself to go, so when a friend had tickets to see something at the Humana Festival, I jumped at the chance. The lobby is spacious and beautiful. The theater we were in, I don't remember which one, but we were there for Stop Loss, I don't think there was a bad seat in t theater. It had great acoustics. I look forward to seeing another show here, hopefully in the near future because it is a great spot that does great theater.

Gwendolyn W.

Yelp
Actors theatre is one of the best regional theaters I've ever been too. They are so talented and do everything right. They do an awesome assortment of plays and shows and really do some amazing work. I've never been disappointed with anything I've seen there.

Scott E.

Yelp
This place's amazing reputation is well deserved. I've never had a bad experience here.

Matt R.

Yelp
Any conversation about big-league arts in Louisville has to start with Actors Theatre. Performance and production quality is reliably great, and the prices are completely reasonable. You may not like everything you see here, but that's probably a good thing. You'll also see a lot of stuff that wouldn't ever be made for movies or television. It's also struck me in the several years that I've lived here that they do a wonderful job with community outreach. And they obviously make a lot happen with corporate sponsorships. Whatever the case, Actors is easily one of the best things going in this city, and there's no bond rating or state budget to worry about (I'm lookin' at you, Yum Center and 4th Street Live).

Joseph T.

Yelp
I do not go often, but every time I go, I find it exceptional. Tonight, I saw Dracula. I like it so much, I've probably seen it six or seven times. Incredible production and really well acted. I am quite spoiled, as I lived in London for 4+ years, and London is known for their West End (their version of Broadway). Shows at London's West End are remarkable. And may I say, the Louisville Actor's Theatre really does hold up very well. I would recommend it to anyone. I realize that Louisville's prices, compared to New York City, are much more affordable. But, I still find them to be a little high for the "bigger" shows. That would be my one negative remark.

Nancy P.

Yelp
WOW, what a gem for Louisville KY. I have had season's tickets for about 35 years. Some plays are obviously better than others but overall the preformances are top notch. The ticket exchange policy is very liberal. Just by calling the box office and releasing your season ticket for your preformance you can then use your ticket for general admission to any other preformance for the same show throughout its run. All seats are great even in the balcony. The building itself is worth the trip, it is historical and elegant. Currently they are doing renovations in the main lobby but the show goes on during this construction. Ticket prices are not cheap but compared to NYC theatre it is a reall bargain. The local troup of actors are professional and very talented. There is a bar for a before theatre or intermission drink. Coat check and attached parking garage. Highly recommend this as an experience in live theatre.

Amy S.

Yelp
Louisville is so incredibly lucky to have such a quality theater institution like Actors Theater. I had heard of it before I ever moved to Louisville 12 years ago. When I lived near DC, a former boss had a son who was serious about live theater and said their program is the premier training program in the country. So when I moved here I wanted to make sure I saw some plays. 12 years later, I cannot name a play that was a flop. Certainly I have enjoyed some than others but all are thoughtful, creative, and high quality. There are two theaters there, one large and one smaller. There isn't a bad seat in either so you should feel safe with any seat. The last few years I have gotten The Flex pass. This allows me to use 8 tickets in any combination for any of their plays. I could use all 8 on Christmas Carol or I could use 2 each for 4 different plays. I love this and plan to continue. Tip: Dracula and The Christmas Carol have become yearly traditions for many people in the city. Book early for these plays!

Olga S.

Yelp
Great addition to the Louisville arts scene. You can't go wrong watching any performance that they showcase. Ushers and staff are friendly and helpful. Comfortable and clean theaters. I've been to many shows here and they've all been interesting and well acted.

Rebecca M.

Yelp
This makes for a GREAT night! Dracula is awesome and very popular but they also have a wide variety of other plays too. Everything I've seen has been great and its always a good time. Ticket prices vary, depending on what you see. They are cheaper than going to the KY Center (although I love that place too!). All seats are honestly all good seats here as it is a small, round theater. The actors tend to get the audience involved and walk around the theater. Drinks are available and parking is easy-a lot of restaurant options around as well and within walking distance.

Trisha B.

Yelp
First a good thing: Whomever designed this Theater (Pamela Brown Auditorium) did so in such a way that there isn't a bad seat in the house! I have been coming to see "A Christmas Carol" on and off for about 32 years. (I'm 57 years old). I'm lucky that I was around to see how it USED to be. Before I get to Negative here let me say this: The Man that played "The Ghost from Christmas Present" gave an ASTOUNDING Performance! He saved the Play for me! All of the great Actors must have retired or moved on; which of course is normal because some of them were getting older and the 2 gentlemen that used to play the role of Scrooge maybe got tired of doing it. But THEY were THE BEST back in the day! This year's rendition (2019) is sub-par. Probably mostly due to the fact that all of the Actors are very young and don't really have the PASSION for this particular play due to they probably have never even read "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens. These young Actors also need to work on their "Voice" as there aren't any Microphones and some of the time I couldn't hear what they were saying and I had a seat close to the stage. Some of the singing was ok but sadly even it wasn't as Joyous as it used to be. I didn't feel any "Heart" from the man that played the role of Scrooge. He just didn't seem into it at all. Also, he sort of tried to make it a "comedy". Which did result in some laughs from the crowd, myself included but overall I just wasn't as impressed as I have been in the past. And YES in the past there were "laughs" from Scrooge but this guy took it way to far. The ticket prices have gone out the roof, yet there haven't been ANY upgrades or maintenance to this facility in YEARS. The Stage Scenes in this play used to be much more Elaborate and Believable! So really where is all the money going? $200.00 for a ticket? REALLY? I was lucky I found a lower priced ticket. I wouldn't pay $200.00 to go see this Rendition of "A Christmas Carol". The Ghost of Christmas Past looked like a big blow up Lawn thing that is used at Christmas time of Snowmen and Santas. Cmon Actors Theater you can do better! The little girl playing "The Ghost of Christmas Past" did a great job with her agility on those long white sheets so there's that! ****It also seems like the writing/adaptation of this left out a lot from what it used to be in the past. Upon the opening there wasn't any pomp or circumstance presented from the Stage as they used to do in the past. I'm glad I experienced this play at Actors Theater back in the day when it was MUCH BETTER. I get it that we are in the age of "The Feminine" and I myself am Female and a Feminist but the cast was largely FEMALE. Cmon, where are the guys? I used to really like the Male Narrators from the past! They were able to deliver an "Old English Charm". The "little girl" that played the role of "go get the goose" used to be played by a LITTLE BOY - like in the book!! They didn't even do the "Christmas Party" Scene at the Nephews house any justice. Sad. Wait - ONE MORE THING! -- Was the role of Tiny Tim played by a little girl? It sure looked like it! PLEASE. Enough with all the political correctness and just stick to the Classic Charles Dickens for once. Some things are NOT broken so please stop trying to fix them.

Kyle S.

Yelp
Having seen a number of plays at Actors, I can unabashedly say that I am a fan! The performances were wonderful with solid performances, excellent direction and high production values. The staff is always professional, friendly and courteous. I've never had a bad seat and, with a single exception which led to a large number of subsequent inside jokes, have greatly enjoyed the plays. Help keep local theater alive and go see a show!

Rhonda P.

Yelp
Went Sunday to see Dracula on Sunday. WOW, whata great show. They used the entire theater. The finish was really cool. Definitely must see. I saw it 10 years ago. So much improved

Megan A.

Yelp
Actors Theatre of Louisville is a Five Star experience every single time. Louisville is lucky to have such quality theatre such as Actors. The performances are top notch, the plays are of high quality and the ticket prices vary enough that all walks of life can enjoy. The shows range in days of the week and times. Highly recommend.

Sarah C.

Yelp
Having a wonderful theatre in Louisville makes it that much more awesome to live here. I have frequented Actors for many plays over the years and have still never been disappointed. Our Valentine's Day evening was spent here watching a play, At The Vanishing Point. It was an intimate play about the Butchertown neighborhood here in Louisville. Filled with well acted monologues from a handful of different characters who were all intertwined, this play really felt personal and whimsical at the same time. I am sure it was a walk down memory lane for lots (those who have been in Louisville for decades). The set was simple and yet created an image that was perfect for a Butchertown story. Ben Sollee was the musical accompaniment and he also gave a short monologue. That was a nice addition. :) Always a clean theatre with friendly staff and volunteers there to help ensure you have a pleasant time. Plus, there is a fabulous restaurant/bar downstairs called, Milkwood, and we were able to check that place out pre-show as well. Support the arts in our community if you get the opportunity. You will be glad you did.

Michael R.

Yelp
When we moved to Louisville for my boyfriend's job, his coworkers gifted us with an assortment of tickets and passes to local attractions. By far the best of these was Actors Theatre of Louisville. We ended up getting partial season tickets with another couple and we have really enjoyed that. As others have mentioned, the Humana Festival is a pretty huge deal, but I have always enjoyed the regular season as well. This year we upped our season tickets to include seven plays instead of five. To justify this financially, we picked seats that weren't as good as the seats we'd been getting for the past several years. But the truth is, there aren't really any bad seats in any of ATL's three theatre spaces, which are all fairly intimate (the Pamela Brown Auditorium is the largest, with 633 seats). I'm very happy with our decision to see more plays.

Yelp
I've been here many times, and multiple of those times were Dracula and Christmas Carol. They were/are absolutely worth it. I love this place, it's a special treat I look forward to almost every year. The actors are all very talented, and the only bad seat in the entire place is behind a super tall person (I'm looking at you, tall person from tonight.) Tonight's viewing pleasure was Macbeth, and while it was not my favorite play it was still an enjoyable experience. My ultimate goal is to someday aquire season passes and see all the things.

Yelp
This is an adequate theatre in a city that boasts several fantastic theatres. I have been here for many shows of mixed quality but I have never been impressed with the facility itself. Some places will knock your socks off with their opulence or pull you into the show with their minimalism. This theatre complex has all the charm of a high school auditorium. I don't enjoy going to the theatre but this place has very little to recommend it to the casual participant. I've seen better shows in better spaces in Louisville.

Yelp
It ain't Broadway. We know that. For what it is (a regional theatre with some excellent backing), it is fantastic. Sharp, smart productions from top notch talent. Too bad they all wanna go to Broadway.

Yelp
Actors Theatre is one of the most fun experiences in town. The layout is great and the performances never disappoint. If you haven't been to Dracula- it is a must see. It runs from mid September to Halloween and usually sell out. It is an action packed thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Just try not to spill your cocktail! A Christmas Carol is another one of my favorites at Actors. The performers for the last 3 years have left me with a tear in my eye and warmth in my heart. Truly an amazing experience and perfect for a family outing or date night. It should be starting in November and run until after Christmas. The Humana Festival always brings an eclectic mix of plays with drama, humor, joy and pain all wrapped up into one. There are ticket packages available or you can buy individual tickets. Make reservations to dine below Actor's Theatre before the performace at Milkwood. Grab some wine, spirits or beer and enjoy!

Yelp
Great shows. But don't take $200 from me to reserve an aisle seat (when I can't walk to the middle of a full row because I have a crutch and boot on my foot) only to tell me, when I arrive, that it's sold out so "just take any open seat, if there are any." Then my girlfriend and I, on her birthday, find just 1 - I had two tickets, one for myself to sit on the aisle with the crutch, another for my girlfriend for her birthday, and got 1 seat that wasn't even on an aisle! There IS A disclaimer on the back of the tickets that seating assignments are at the discretion of management, but: (1) they clearly oversold the number of tickets vs number of seats; (2) I need an aisle because I'm temporarily handicapped, and; (3) that disclaimer appeared on the back of my ticket when it arrived in my mailbox days after purchasing it through their website...NOT during the ordering process!

Yelp
Note to self: Add to bucket list, go see Christmas Carol at Actor's Theater. Okay, sorry, just needed the above reminder come Christmas time when I'm Yelping "What to do in Louisville during the holidays". I love this theater. It's small and quaint and cute. Most recently I saw "At the Vanishing Point" with Ben Sollee et al. I had never had seats so close! The play and the seats made the experience so intimate! But honestly, even if I were up in the "nose bleed section", the play would have still been incredible, just from a different point of view. I don't think there is a bad seat in the house. The price for shows is reasonable and for procrastinators - I think you can find seats pretty easily last minute. Make it an 'all local night' and run across the street to grab a bourbon cocktail at Down One or BBC for a beer, then head to see a show! Or do it in reverse order. Or best yet, do all three!

Yelp
I was reminded yesterday at A Christmas Carol just how much I adore Actore Theatre. I was a season subscriber for a few years fresh out of high school when I could barely afford it on opening night. It is always such a wonderful experience no matter what the play. The actors, stage, sound and costumes are so professional and you really feel like you're within the story every time.

Yelp
I love going here! There is not a bad seat in the entire theatre, which makes the experience even more enjoyable. The first play I saw was A Christmas Carol last year and after a wonderful experience I decided to get season tickets! The cast and the staff are impressive and I haven't been let down yet. If you want something fun and different to do every month, get yourself season tickets, you will not regret it!

Yelp
As a self-proclaimed theater lover, I am embarrassed to say I did not visit Actors Theatre for the first time until this year. I attended a Sunday night showing of "Dracula" in September, and it was amazing! The cast was excellent, and it was very well done. Definitely easy to see why it's a Louisville favorite year after year! I love the set-up of the Bingham Theatre, where patrons are seated in a circle around the stage. I was amazed at the swiftness and excellent execution of set changes throughout the show, as there are no wings to shuffle props into. Last weekend I attended a Sunday matinee of the powerful show "Luna Gale." The play covers a very heavy subject matter (abuse, drugs, etc.), and brings to life some concerning issues. I will definitely be back to Actors Theatre soon, hopefully to catch "A Christmas Carol" this winter.

Yelp
Wow. Actors really is a professional theatre in every sense. It had been too long since I had been to ATL (the playhouse not the city ;) and I will not make that mistake again. We went to opening night of In the Next Room (the Vibrator Play) and it was everything you could want in a show. Incredible yet simplistic sets, actors that were absolutely their parts to the T, incredible story/writing. You should take someone you know well so you can talk and laugh and talk and laugh afterwords. And talk about literally laughing out loud! Oh dear lord, this play was hilarious. Brilliantly hilarious. Go. You have until Feb 18. Hurry. Oh and park on the street unless it is a torrential downpour. Shows at 7:30, so street parking is free, but the parking garage right next to ATL is 8$. Whoa.

Yelp
Great theatre! I was really impressed with In the Next Room (the Vibrator Play) that I saw a while ago. The space itself is relatively small and intimate feeling; it's easy to become engrossed in the performance. A little hint I want to share with the Yelp community--when you're at ticketing ask to see the play your'e going to for $20 and if you're one of the first twenty people, you can! Sounds way too good to be true, right? Well, it it's not. This deal definitely helped me out because by the time I got to ticketing most of the seats left were $50-60. Just don't go around telling EVERYONE...I need to see some plays on discounted rates too :)

Yelp
Just saw a performance of "The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity" last night and was as expected impressed and wowed. Even more-so I was moved by this excellent story. I really enjoyed the entire cast and performance! Make sure you make time and go see this excellent production!

Yelp
What a great performance of Dracula! The actors were wonderful especially Renfield! I loved all the effects and can't wait to come back for another performance. Maybe A Christmas Carol?! Head to Actors Theatre for a great night and support the arts in Louisville!

Yelp
Pretty cool place. Well maintained older theater (50's or 60's style?) that has a good cast of thespians. It's not Broadway, but it's still a lot of fun and a lot of love goes into the performances.

Yelp
Seriously, how amazing is it that our random little mid-sized middle American city has a world class theater festival? If you aren't from Louisville, you should come visit - and definitely come when you can catch some of the Humana Festival of New American Plays. (Although the entire season is always pretty dang good - the Humana Festival is when they'll really knock your socks off) And for the locals, check out the "Late Seating" events they periodically offer. $10 for music and performance and art - I've been a couple of times and the show has always been surprisingly fun and different. For the price of a movie, this is really a great way to spend a Friday night. (and the cash bar doesn't hurt either)
