Acuarium Resort Hotel

As a manager at a 5 star resort in another country I knew what I was booking and that it was wasn’t gonna be what im used to. I booked this resort because I wanted the authentic experience and I just didn’t want to be reminded of work, but even though the price point was reasonably low, I still expected good service. |The sheets were dirty and were never changed even though the housekeepers came everyday. The room was dated and the tiles and corners had years of dirt, as the floors need to be stripped. The bathroom had no door and was just basic and unclean. I could have tolerated all of that, because again I wanted authenticity, however it was the staff and bad service thereof that really got to me. Firstly, their check in process is dated and the methodologies used are antiquated. Searching through paper in 2024 is crazy. Having to wait for staff to check different rooms because they have know clue what’s occupied or not is even worst and this went on for more than an hour. I would also suggest one or two bilingual agents. Great country, always gonna go back, but not to this resort.

This Hotel needs a little tender care when it comes to upkeep of the rooms & Wi-Fi being a hit or miss due to very poor connection. It also doesn't make sense of blaring music from pool area going past 10 Pm every night. Loud Guests hanging outside on balcony with no consideration for others, as music encourages their 🥳 with the loud music. Besides the Hotel being in a good Tourist location for many sites, you may want to look elsewhere if wanting some good quality sleep :(

Positives: Great clean pool, and professional in talking. Very friendly staff. |Shower was good hot water.|A lot of good local restaurants and takeaways close by to sample Dominican food.|One of the staff members was always smiling when trying to help, Thank you Francisco for your efforts.|Very positive: due to the number of people in our party, the hotel accommodated us to move from a pair of 2 second floor rooms to the ground floor, and were very understanding, thank you for that!|Hotel located very close to main highway.||Negatives: Very poor wifi quality, 1 of 4 rooms had 2 big cockroaches, leaking facet caused wet floors, the tv picture quality was bad. Staff respond to requests but it took time to resolve issues, ex. getting towels. The kitchens were in need of maintenance- cupboards broken, and very little cutlery available, |This hotel needs a lot of maintenance to get it up to scratch. Laundry charges per item, be careful, we got charged heavily as charges are per item and depends on the item. |It is NOT close to a beach, its close to a waterfront walk (not swimming beach).||Note- if you do not speak spanish, make sure you have a translating tool.

The best facility if you're an early riser like me, luckily my room was right my the directors office and by 7am cleaners and kitchen staff were already dropping things on the floor, I like to think of it as some sort of manual alarm. The security would also walk you to your door to ensure you get to your room safe and sound!

This was a hole in the wall with great access to the public transportation. Receptionist ability to speak English varies. Festive music is played throughout the day and into the night. Mostly by the hotel, but the parking lot behind seems to throw all nighter parties. There’s not a real couch to sit on. Kitchen has a sink, trash, mini fridge, and gas stove that you have to light with a match. They are shy on silverware and bowls. No close beaches and we made sure to be in the hotel property by dark for safety. They have an enjoyable pool and outdoor shower. The towels are thin, and they’re very worried about them not being returned. We had to ask for the key to the safe. Requested our flickering light bulb be fixed and another lightbulb that was out replaced and it never happened. Our toilet ran and when we let them know they did fix that. We had no hot water for 24 hours; we asked them about that and they turned the water heater on for us. 😏

They changed our room 3 time because air conditioner was not working in the 1st 2 rooms and in the 3rd room air conditioning worked but room was not secure, windows didn't close properly and room and bathroom just felt dirty. I must say one gentleman did try to accommodate us, but it's hard when the property is in such bad condition. I must say the 1st 2 rooms were in much better condition, but air conditioning didn't work properly. This place could have been great with better maintenance of property.

Great time with the kids at the pool.food was very good.
