A.D. 1768 Boutique Hotel (Ragusa Ibla, Sicily) 5 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"In Ragusa’s historic quarter of Ragusa Ibla, there’s a seemingly limitless supply of 18th-century Baroque architecture, and a.d. 1768 Boutique Hotel, named for the year of its construction, is a prime example. Even in such rich surroundings, it stands out, with a privileged position alongside the cathedral and the Piazza Duomo. But for all of this aristocratic residence’s evident history, in typical Italian boutique-hotel style its proprietors are not shy about incorporating modern and contemporary influences — here the Baroque and the 21st century exist comfortably side by side." - Tablet Hotels

What an amazing place! My wife and I spent 3 nights here in early September and could not have had a better experience with the hotel. Our room was right next to the sitting room with the incredible ceiling frescoes, and our own ceiling was gorgeous, with a lovely balcony right off the Duomo piazza (perfect location). The entire hotel is creatively appointed with a mix of traditional and modern art that is both beautiful and fun. Breakfasts were the best we've had in nearly 2 months in Sicily (so far), and this has been our favorite hotel. For comparison, we stayed at the stellar and vastly more expensive Villa Athena hotel in Agrigento, and still liked this one more. But the best part is the staff, who are uniformly friendly and helpful. This proved to be very important for us, because my wife succumbed to E coli food poisoning, mostly likely from contaminated lettuce at a restaurant in town (it's an unquestionably excellent establishment so I assume contaminated supplies but don't know; just bad luck). She was extremely ill and didn't recover for about 2 weeks (long after we left), and the staff was as attentive and kind as could be, offering to bring up a glass of wine for me to have with dinner that I brought back to the room (and if you're going to be sick in a hotel bed, there's no better place). They were also very helpful with parking advice, including patiently helping me deal with 2 parking tickets I stupidly racked up. Thanks to the manager (owner) and staff for everything!

This is the place to stay in Ragusa Ibla. If there’s availability and the price works for you, book it. A beautifully restored palazzo in the perfect location. Rooms are large, well designed and decorated, with high ceilings. The owner and staff are wonderful, offering very personalized service. The breakfast is fantastic—not a typical buffet, but a curated selection prepared and presented with care and pride in local products and traditions. Additionally, the hotel arranged a private tour of Ragusa with an excellent guide, Francesca. A wonderful hotel in a wonderful town. This is how it’s done. Highly recommend.

This is the best hotel during our month long and seven-hotels stay in Italy. The hotel is a beautiful and elegantly restored palazzo, as well as the oldest building in Ragusa Ibla. The location is perfect, right by Ragusa Ibla Duomo, the rooms are clean, big and spotless - everything works, breakfast is served with high quality ingredients with conscientious services. Best of all, the staff are incredibly helpful and welcoming. The beautiful young owner is a lawyer; and she has trained her staff as an extension of herself in service. We want to thank her and Roselle specifically for making our stay be the most memorable highlight of our experience in Sicily travel.

This hotel is absolutely beautiful! A unique blend of the vintage a.d. 1768 and contemporary. The rooms have been carefully renovated to save the original bones of the villa and then they added all the modern conveniences that you always appreciate at a fine hotel. Oversized shower, lovely breakfast room, great food, attentive staff, great location. We woke up to the amazing frescoes above our bed and it was a moment. Each room has been dedicated to an important person that the owner holds dear. I don’t want to spoil the surprise, so I’ll leave this part a mystery. Twelve days in Sicily and this was a special place! You won’t be disappointed.

The staff was exceptionally kind and professional, helping us with everything we needed. We parked down the hill and walked up with our luggage in just 5 minutes (though they also offer a transfer service if preferred). The design of the place is absolutely beautiful, clean, tasteful, and a perfect blend of old and new, with a refined sense of style. Breakfast was absolutely wonderful - made from local, organic, traditional and healthy ingredients. The owner explained the dishes and, upon our request, shared the fascinating history of the building and its renovation. It was a truly fantastic experience - highly recommended!

We stayed at this charming little hotel for one night and can wholeheartedly recommend it. From the beautiful inner courtyard, an elevator takes you up to the lovingly renovated and very spacious rooms, each with a balcony. The location is perfect for exploring Ragusa on foot. The staff was extremely professional and genuinely friendly. Breakfast was excellent, and the lovely lady hosting it brightened our morning with her warm smile and detailed explanations of the Sicilian specialties. We would come back anytime. Thank you so much!

What an incredible hotel. Feels like you step back in time while being surrounded by modern art. The rooms are incredible, comfy beds and large shower. Had the roof painting with an old fresco. Location is right near the duamo. An amazing 4 nights

What a beautiful luxurious, loved, well cared for boutique! The owners are so sweet and really take pride in their boutique. The rooms were very clean, well cared for and decorated so elegantly! The breakfast was incredible, and the ambiance of the entire boutique is just stunning. The town is absolutely beautiful, and there are so many close by walkable restaurants and shops! This place is a must stay!
