After seeing all the great reviews I was so excited to come here, which is why I was taken aback when I was treated more terribly here than I ever had anywhere else.
My friend came to shop here in the late afternoon one day, and I planned to meet her there as she was finishing up her shopping. I arrived around closing time, yet my friend was still inside as were several other people, so I didn't think twice as I pushed open the door. To my surprise a man (likely the manager or owner) started pushing the door closed on me from the inside before I could even get a foot in, and angrily saying "you can't come in -- we're closing". When I started to explain that my friend was inside and I simply wanted to meet up with her, he cut me off and said he doesn't care and that my friend needs to leave too. He then proceeded to slam the door in my face and even lock it for extra measure (even though there were still customers inside that he would have to unlock it for).
But that's not all. I then walked away, slightly shaking my head, and I guess the man saw me shaking my head because he then unlocked the door, stepped outside and walked towards me, yelling down the street, "Don't you shake your head at me young lady, we're closing and you need to learn how to follow the rules!" I was terrified that this man, easily twice my size, went so out of his way to literally yell at me for seemingly nothing, and treat me like a disobedient child (I'm in my mid twenties). We quickly walked away and drove off.
Mind you, my friend and I try to be extremely respectful and would never intentionally disrupt a store or do anything to incite such anger. Either he was having a bad day and decided to take it out on a customer, has a problem with young women of color (I'm sure he wouldn't dare act in such a way to a man), or is just nasty in general. None of which are justified, and I still can't believe that the store is so popular despite such blatant unprofessionalism. Obviously, I will not be coming back here, and would strongly warn against it if you are a woman under 5'5".
