When I got my bread home I read the ingredients that was on the bag. I am so disappointed in the artificial butter, margarine, palm oil, and all the many horrible ingredients this so called fresh made bread includes.

My dad used to bring home fresh bread from Addeo as a special treat for the family. For years we'd always enjoy the unexpected surprise. My dad, who was kind of an aficionado of all things Italian... he regarded Addeo as the very best. My kids, too, remember this fondly and carry on our family tradition of bringing home the perfect bread.

Same products, same taste, same employees since, like, forever. Probably they served bread starting in the early Neolithic. Yes, the place is very, very low-tech. They started taking credit card only after covid, I suspect. Their prosciutto bread is excellent. Note: the employees are Albanian, like at many other Arthur Ave. shops, where the children of the old owners moved to Westchester and to white-collar jobs. Albanians are geographically and culturally contiguous to Italians, and I find this a beautiful example of the adaptability and continuity of traditions.

You don't come here because it's a charming bakery, you come here to get yourself a loaf of bread that you can't get anywhere else in the world. A loaf of bread so good, if they charged you five bucks for a stick of butter, you would buy it and eat as much bread and butter as you could.

I love this bread. I ate it growing up in Harlem and then in The Bronx. Now I live in Texas, and the only time I get this bread is when I visit. I bring an empty suitcase just for my Arthur Ave goodies. I wish Addeo would ship their bread.

Bought a large sfogliatelle pastry yesterday and asked for powdered sugar on top. I ate it this morning. I thought I was eating straw. No taste, no powdered sugar on top and dry as a bone. Plus it cost $5.00. I rated it a one because I wasn’t able to rate it zero. Next time I’m on Arthur Ave. I’ll go to the Artuso bakery. Very disappointed.

Yeah! It's the best bread..and it gets even better when you toast it or warm it in the oven. Soft and chewy inside and crispy crust. Delicious taste. Caution if you re- bake it. Wear safety glasses when cutting through the crust. It pops off and shoots a few feet into the air. So good.
