Every year we come to this coffee shop when we are in town working the Christchurch Caravan show. The service is always wonderful, we love talking with Bruce each time we see him, and the coffee is delicious! 100% recommend this place in Christchurch xx

Great coffee and yummy sweet bites. Friendly and efficient service, nice vibe. My only regret is that one cant order a single origin cup from the range of their roastery.

Amazing cafe with awesome little bookshop and overall ambience. I had a venison and red wine pie and latte that were delicious!

Nice cafe we normally come for white coffees and a treat. The savory muffin was really good and espresso pulled beautifully as well as good foam and latte art. Nice and cozy spot especially on the couches. Only looses one star cause some of the dining options for the tables and chairs don’t leave much room for legs underneath and can be hard and uncomfortable. But it has a classic quirky NZ cafe charm.

Definitely one of my fave cafes in Christchurch. Always a good selection of cabinet food, the coffee is great. Very chilled atmosphere, generally not too difficult to find a seat. And all the team are lovely (especially Albany)

Google
Amazing coffee shop and cafe a short walk from our accommodation! The service was prompt, coffee and food delicious and arrived quickly for how busy it was, and the ambience impeccable. Loved the book/gift store inside too, a wonderful unexpected surprise! Will definitely be back whenever we are in Christchurch.

Google
That was a textbook cappuccino, just perfect! How do you even make the foam this smooth? If you guys ran a barista course, I’d totally want to learn here. The coffee was seriously amazing👍👍

Really big space. Best french toast I’ve ever had and I’ve had heaps. The high didn’t last for long as the lamb sausage roll was extremely dry and hard. Couldn’t cut through it and biting it was leathery. Drinks were all fine and at the right temperature. Service and atmosphere were just fine, it’s quite dark. Lots of other chch cafes I’ll be heading to next time before returning here.

Yelp
Absolutely loved the Addington. Great atmosphere, great menu. Highly recommend. We had brunch here: - salmon benedict (4.5 stars) - avo (4.5 stars, 5 stars for the halloumi, which was life-changing) - mushroom (5 stars), but then again I love mushrooms - scone (4 stars) - sweet and buttery, but I'm not much of a sweets person. Plus I had a BLTA sandwich (5 stars) as a take-away as I embarked on my day trip to Arthur's Pass. Ate it next to the mountains... so good.

Yelp
Best brunch spot in ChCh! And this city loves them some brunch! Went here three times and it was just as good every time. Busy busy place but it's big and spacious inside so they can handle all the people. You might have to eat on the sofa in the front by the front door but ayyy food is worth the inconvenience haha. They always keep their menu simple which is nice because it makes deciding what to eat easier. One page and they vary it with a few options. The famous English style breakfast, eggs benny, some more general breakfast choices and what I got, the french toast plate with streaky bacon. In NZ they like to cook their bacon a little underdone which I didn't think I would like but I love it! They put in between the toast add some fruit, syrup and cream. It was amazing! I'm that guy that usually orders the best thing out of my friends and they all wish they got what I got.. this was one of those times haha. Definitely recommend.. It's a bit pricey here, between $17 - $23 depending on your choice. My French Toast was $20. They're famous for coffee here but I'm not really into coffee much(don't hate me) but I did get hooked on Chai lattes. Spicy or sweet, it's up to you. I wasn't feeling so spicy that morning, hangover vibes... so I got sweet. You order at a counter and then seat yourself. Instead of giving numbers to ID your table they give you a random country flag. Funny enough, the cashier said I look either Canadian or from California. So she gave me the Canada flag. Thanks EH. Do I really give off such a strong California vibe? I got that a few times when traveling around hahah. Amazing food, nice interior vibes, Chai was dank. 5 stars!

Yelp
My favorite establishment in all of ChCh! Addington Coffee Co-op is a great way to start your day. Their savory muffins, croissants and baked goods are to die for. I have yet to try an item I haven't loved. Of note: pain au chocolate, ham/pineapple/savory items muffin, chocolate and berry muffin, sausage links, omelettes and french toast. This is a great place to come for a casual brunch, a morning coffee or an afternoon snack to read the paper or do your laundry (yes, there is a Laundromat on site!). I often get a trim cappuccino that they decorate in different patterns each day. The atmosphere is rustic casual and Brooklyn hipster. Wooden beam walls a hodge-podge of wooden tables and chairs and couch seating make up the bulk of the restaurant. The water and utensils are 'serve yourself' and flags of the world are your table markers. The small store in the front sells kitschy little gifts from pillow covers to yarn toys, grocery sacs to soaps and oils. The coffee roasting company on site, Jailbreak, is fair trade and proceeds from this co-op go to help end women's suffrage.

Yelp
Bustling cafe with friendly staff. I had the mushroom parmesan and the burger. Both yummy dishes and decent coffee 2. Good cross section of she groups as well. Recommended if your passing through Addington and nerd to refuel or hang out with friends as they have some huge tables.

Yelp
After breakfast is done being served at 2pm, you are choosing between the items they have on the counter. I tried out the quiche and salad, and neither was anything special, nor was the coffee. Pretty nice atmosphere though. Breakfast sounded appetizing ...

Yelp
There is definitely a great atmosphere in this place. They serve great coffee and all the food items are made with passion. Came in for brunch and the place was buzzing. Super busy, yet enjoyable. I'm always a fan of places that have roasting on site.

Yelp
A complete godsend for coffee lovers, hangry foodies, and backpackers who really must do laundry -- I am all three. I stopped by Addington for my first meal upon arriving in New Zealand and was thoroughly impressed. My friend and I split the banana bread and fish cakes for brunch and found the portions generous, the plating stunning, and most importantly the taste delicious. In particular, the banana bread had creamy mascarpone and New Zealand local honeycomb that made it hands down the best of its kind that I've tried. I'd highly recommend. A few touristy notes: I adore the local newspapers splayed across nice wooden tables, the sustainable shop in the co-op building and the laundry machines. I was able to do my week's worth of laundry while learning about local news and relaxing over coffee. Service is limited. We retrieved our own cutlery and water from the front, but in my introvert-led opinion, that added to the cozy experience. Honestly wish my home base of New York offered some similar hodgepodge!

Yelp
Loved this place! Delicious food and coffee plus an awesome atmosphere. I had the sweet chili, spinach and onion muffin which truly was one of the best things I've eaten in NZ (to be fair I've cooked most of my food). The mocha was great as well.

Yelp
Went in with a group of 12 when it wasn't exactly quiet. The food and coffee was bought out so fast and was absolutely delicious. Very classy and cool vibe with their roasting area in the back of the cafe. Definitely a must-go!!

Yelp
This is THE quintessential Christchurch coffee joint. Laid-back atmosphere, seriously amazing food (the savory muffins are the bomb), free-trade delicious coffee (with proceeds going toward a charity), and friendly staff members. Did I mention that they have laundry machines available for usage by both staff and customers?! All walks of life come into this place and trade stories at communal tables. Come for brunch. Try the Brioche french toast with bacon, marscapone, confit orange, and roasted pistachios. Cry tears of joy. Come back again and try the House breakfast. High five yourself after devouring the poached egg/potato crosti/balsamic tomato/bacon/Hungarian sausage/tomato chutney flavor explosion. Become a regular.

Yelp
If you're looking for amazing food, great atmosphere and possibly the best flat white I've ever tasted, then Addington Coffee Company needs to be on your must visit list for Christchurch. All the food is fresh and so tasty, with fantastic flavour combinations. I had the brioche French toast with cinnamon mascarpone, orange and pistachios, just heavenly. The staff are all lovely, and we were greeted like regulars on our second visit. Add on the fact that got drinks are ethically and organically sourced and you've got a real winner!

Yelp
I would like to go back in Christchurch ONLY for this cafe ... I've been in this cafe once, for a brunch (witch was sooo yummy) while my washing was on. First, the washing machine and the dryers were super cheap, and in good condition. Second, I forgot my sunglasses there, and when I came back I didn't find them. I let my contact and Bruce, the manger I think, has been soooooo helpful and so nice, he send them back when he found them !!! I'd recommend it thousand times !!

Marcus C.

Yelp
Really loved this place. It's was a great atmosphere and despite there being lots of families with small children it was really relaxed and easy to talk and hear each other. The food and coffee was also worth the trip- free trade coffees (as well as a little free trade store front in the corner of the cafe) and lots of tasty breakfast choices. I just had the eggs and toast- by far the least exotic choice on the menu- but it was still super tasty. My company got much more exciting things which looked (and tasted) even better. I also got a home made date scone from their counter food selection. All the stuff there looked so good I just had to try something. Tell your friends (or don't so it's less crowded) but this 1 is a keeper and a chch staple.

Yelp
I was relatively disappointed after reading all the good reviews. I arrived at 8.30 for breakfast and saw a sign in the window saying they'd be closed from 9am-1pm which was fine as I had a bus to catch, there was no big que and I only wanted a coffee and cabinet food. They reminded me of the 9am closing when I opproached the counter and I said that was fine. I ordered an almond latte (to go) and a Tuna Frittata, total of $16.90. The coffee came out quick and was delicious. I had to approach the counter at 8.50 to get my frittata and she apologized asking if it was okay for me to have it to go, since they're closing. (Yes fine, we already went over this I thought?) They gave it to me in a little to go box because it was furiously hot, so I couldnt eat it while walking to the bus (like I could have if in a paper bag like the other patrons I saw with to-go food), eating was especially dufficult since they gave no to-go cutlery. If I had sat outside I would have been late for the bus so figured I had time to think about how I was going to eat it. As I mentioned, I only wanted cabinet food as was in a rush anyway. I had to eat it after my bus ride with my fingers, it was greasy and messy and quite a let down to be fair. I was still hungry afterwards so disappointed at the high price I paid. I would recommend their coffee but not the cabinet food and certainly not if you're on a deadline as the staff seem to be a bit aloof.

Yelp
Fantastic coffee and food!! Cool atmosphere and the people were super friendly. Had the veggie stack and loved it

Yelp
First time here, quite impressed, great atmosphere and location, apart from music being just a bit too loud. Food very nice, Venison pie and cous cous salad a nice combination. Sadly coffee not so good, quite small and a bitter after taste which is not to my liking. But overall an enjoyable experience here. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
Love this place. Great atmosphere and run as a non-profit. The owners are doing some awesome work in the community and overseas.

Joel C.

Yelp
Quite big industrial wooden cafe with wooden seats, tables, some couches. There is a laundry. It is Christchurch hip. Good coffee and food. No power outlets. You get a small amount of wifi if you ask. Nice friendly staff. Relaxed. Probably the 2nd best big cafe in Chch.

Melissa C.

Yelp
Just the best. Amazing coffee, gorgeous food and lovely atmosphere. Quirky and fun with the best customer service

Simon W.

Yelp
Having remained open throughout the earthquakes this place has developed into one of the most popular coffee shops in the city - the food is reasonably good and so is the coffee but it is the setting and the atmosphere that draws most of the customers.

Andy H.

Yelp
I was on the hunt for a good coffee spot when visiting Christchurch and this place didn't disappoint. Great relaxed set-up with plenty of seating and a buzzing atmosphere. Coffee was top notch and the savouries were tasty. There were plenty of people having brekky there too so I'm guessing that must be a hit! Will definitely head back when I'm next in town.

Yelp
Wow - great brunch. This is going to be my new go-to place in CHC! What is more amazing is that it's ethical! I love everything about this place! Thanks.

Samantha M.

Yelp
I would say Coffee Co-op was one of the pioneers of Addington. Since the quakes Addington has become the place to be, and i'm fortunate enough to work near Coffee Co-op. Of course I never pass up an opportunity to stop by. They have a wide range of drinks, some delicious slices and cakes and a wide range of great meals. Their smoothies are served in little old school milk bottles - an awesome quirk. It's also fair-trade so you can get rid of all you're guilt and they use organic and free range where possible! Check it out!

Yelp
The best on a sunny day, great coffee which is essential. I love the atmosphere the style of the building and decor.

Yelp
Love this place - first time here and the staff are super friendly, great atmosphere, food is amazing and more importantly the coffee is fantastic!!

Rob B.

Yelp
Brilliant cafe. Love it. Coffee is great and great selection of food.

Maggie B.

Yelp
delicious food, including the premade options, great coffee, internet available for a small fee, a bit loud for a business meeting but a perfect meet-up for a fair trade coffee with friends.
