On the Grid : Addis in Cape

"Experience a truly unique Ethiopian dining experience you won’t forget. Best enjoyed with a group of friends, this restaurant offers a cultural experience that starts with waiters washing your hands, then choosing from a long list of delicious Ethiopian cuisine which is ultimately served on a large sheet of sourdough for you to eat exclusively with your hands. Delicious and exciting, this is a restaurant for anyone who want to experience Ethiopia at its best." - Yellow Door Collective

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely Outstanding! Addis Ethiopian Restaurant in Cape Town is truly a gem. The food is bursting with authentic flavor — every dish is rich, beautifully spiced, and prepared with so much care. You can taste the tradition in every bite. The customer service is just as impressive. The staff are warm, welcoming, and always happy to explain the dishes, making the whole experience feel personal and memorable. From the moment you walk in, you’re treated like family. If you’re looking for an unforgettable dining experience, this is the place. Highly recommended!

We had the most incredible experience at addis in Cape Town. It is a true gem. The waiter was full of life, super upbeat and informative about Ethiopian food and eating culture. I felt it was as much a cultural experience as it was a delicious dinner. The food was incredibly beautiful and delicious. Highly recommend. 👌

The food is ok, a special experience to try Ethiopian food. The restaurant itself is quite dark so you can’t really see but with a glass or two you may feel fine lol. The location is good so very easy to get to. The downside was the service - staff are generally friendly but you kinda feel like they try to sell you the expensive set and if you don’t order as much their service drops. Some of them can get inattentive especially when they feel like they’re already not going to get as much tips (since you didn’t order as much) It’s very expensive with the portion given, and we waited quite a while for the main dish too (prob a norm as there’s always a wait at the restaurants in cape down). Come for the experience if you wanna try Ethiopian food and don’t mind the price.

Had a 10/10 experience. Incredible food, service and ambience. Our meal was also comped due to a booking mishap — thank you Addis in Cape!! Siphe is an amazing server too — give him a raise!!

Very different experience. Worth a visit. Violin, our Waitron, was wonderful. We had the 2 course set menu for 2. More than enough food.

So ...used to be one of my favorites the food is tasty as ever ...however it seems the pricing is designed for tourists. I ordered the Doro Wot via Uber eats mind you there is little description on what is included with this dish only to recieve a tiny dish of stew for R250!!! (Excludes uber fees btw) what...No. I proceeded to call the restaurant immediately just incase an item was forgotten, nope you only get that for R250! Well forget the price ..there is no picture nor any idea what it is you are ordering (incase you are not used to the cuisine) oh btw the way what I ordered is apparently the "full" dish ..if the half portion a tea spoon of Doro Wot - ever ? Anyway I guess lesson learned.
