Adega Rio Douro

This is my second time visiting Porto and also the second time stopping by Adega Rio Douro. Sandwich de fígado is a must try and everything else is great too. Although there were many customers and the kitchen was not open yet, the owner memorized what we ordered and brought us everything. Muito obrigado.

🚨BEWARE: There is no more Fado in this establishment anymore. But it still is totally worth a visit. While I got there because I had heard they host fado evenings, which they no longer did, I definitely had a great time. I tried rocked dish (truly amazing), meat and fish risollos (amazing) and a cod pastry (ok), and to drink I had a litre of real red sangria. Everything for 11 euro. The owner was super nice, the people were super nice, the place was real nice and the view was absolutely outstanding. Everything there is super tasty and super cheap. If you eat in the city centre you waste both your time and money. Nobody had MacBooks nor iPhones, some guys were smoking.

Typical local café/bar where locals come to have a traditional snack or beer, with a great view over the river. The menu is a bit tapas'ish, in terms of you can order many small things, and is all great. Try the cabbage soup, cod sandwich, a bifana, or a plate of Rocket dish (super tender pork), but you'll be pleasantly surprised with all, and the prices are very reasonable. 4 of us tried the whole menu for about 40 euros, including beer. Unfortunately, they don't do Fado anymore on Tuesdays. If you want to eat, you'll have to be early as the kitchen sells out quickly, think 16-17:00, not much later.

Great local place, for lunch they don't have a menu, often it's fish or varied meats. Definitely take the fish! One of the best tasting fish I ever had, to do like the locals drop some Olive Oil and wine vinegar on it, marvelous! You can even get local homemade alcohol shots. It's clearly easier if you befriend a english/french speaking locals! Warning: Be patient and let the ladies assign you a table, or she will yell at you nicely ;). For 20euro you will have food for 2 and drinks!

Very reasonable price, friendly customer service! Grilled cod fish is available only on Saturdays so I had to order a deep fried cod fish which isn't as healthy but was delicious. Bice view of the water and their outside seats have got beautiful views and vibe.

Hubby and I stopped here for the first time for a drink while we were on a walk. The inside was PACKED and super hot. The vinho verde on tap was good and cost 1.60€ for 2 glasses.
