Adelaide Hostel SF: Great Location, Needs Improvement
I used to love staying at Adelaide Hostel, mingling with cool international travelers over free breakfast. But since COVID, things have gone downhill. The lively Europeans, free ramen, and coffee/tea are gone. Cleanliness is questionable, kitchen utensils keep disappearing, and finding a decent fork or spoon is a challenge. The linens are old, and curtain dividers are falling apart.
The only redeeming qualities? The fantastic location—walking distance to Union Square, Powell St. Cable Cars, and Chinatown—and affordable pricing, even in high season. If you're on a tight budget, it works, but I’d only recommend it for short stays.
