While the Adelaide Rockford itself is a fairly standard hotel — nothing over the top or especially luxurious — my experience here was made unforgettable thanks to one incredible team member: Derek.
I was traveling with a broken leg in a moon boot, and Derek noticed right away that I was struggling a bit with the room I was given. Without hesitation, he came up to have a genuine chat, showed an incredible level of compassion, and personally helped me change to a more accessible room. Not only that, but he went above and beyond by assisting me with packing and moving all of my things himself — something you rarely, if ever, see in hospitality anymore.
It wasn’t about the room — it was about how Derek made me feel. Comfortable. Seen. Cared for. His kindness, professionalism, and pride in his work truly stand out. It’s clear that he treats every room, every guest, and every moment with a level of attention and passion that’s increasingly rare these days. Always smiling, always helpful, and genuinely committed to making guests feel at home.
Derek is the heart and soul of this hotel — and the only reason I’m leaving a five-star review. I sincerely hope management recognizes the absolute gem they have in him. He’s not just doing a job — he’s making a difference.
