We booked a single night stay at Rockford Adelaide for a date night. Check in was easy & staff were friendly. We parked our car in their basement carpark. It was a bit of a tight squeeze to enter the carpark through the lane way but the parking spaces inside were quite roomy. We made our way up to our room on the third floor. We had booked a room with a spa & balcony. The room was a decent size & clean, but appeared a little old/in need of an upgrade in some areas. First thing we noticed was the corner spa at the rear of the room. It’s not in the bathroom or sectioned off, so no privacy. The spa was clean & working. The separate bathroom was clean, with a large shower & vanity/sink/mirror. There were pump bottles of shampoo etc in the shower and hand soap & lotion near the sink. The sink did have a drainage issue as the built in plug wouldn’t stay up on its own. We had to manually lift it to let the water drain. There were plenty of towels & wash cloths, although the towels are tiny so if you’re on the larger side, maybe bring your own. The toilet also appeared quite small & my partner being big & tall was a little concerned it was going to break off the wall if he sat on it.lol but it was fine.
The king size bed was clean, comfortable & soft. The TV was average size & worked well, but it’s a shame that it wasn’t a smart TV. No Netflix for us, just regular free to air. The bar fridge was very small & was missing the rails for the door shelves so only the main shelving could be used. The small freezer section did not freeze anything we put in there in the 20 hours. There was a few little milk portions & 2 bottles of water that we didn’t touch as we weren’t sure if they were complimentary or not.
The room had a kettle, tea/coffee/sugar, cups & glasses. An iron & ironing board, hair dryer. There were 2 robes (that did not fit us) and two pairs of slippers (that also didn’t fit my partner) that we didn’t use.
The real let down for us was that we paid extra for a balcony so we didn’t have to go downstairs to have a cigarette onky to find out once in the room that smoking even on the balcony was not permitted. It was also extremely narrow. Not even a chair would fit so it’s standing room only. Kinda pointless really.
Overall our stay was fine. It was clean & tidy & close to everything in the city but honestly, there are better options with the same or better amenities for less money per night within a 2 minute walk, such as the Oaks hotels on north terrace. We enjoyed our evening but don’t think it was worth almost $400 per night & we will be staying elsewhere next time we decide to have a date night in town.
