⭐️ Review: The Heritage Christchurch – Disappointing Stay Beautiful building but the experience falls far short of a 4–5 star hotel. Reception was cold and very transactional. No guidance on parking, hotel layout, lifts or even directions to the room. Staff did the bare minimum with no sense of hospitality. Wi-Fi was poor, with the guest network “under maintenance.” The alternative options were unclear, and it would help if the hotel used simple passwords when giving them over the phone—much easier for guests to understand. Room was pleasant but basic. Curtains didn’t block any light, making it hard to sleep with a bright light outside the room on all night. Basic tea and freeze-dried coffee but no milk, which is surprising for a hotel with no café on site. A Nespresso machine and milk would make a big difference. Pool & Spa were another disappointment. I booked the hotel to use the spa, only to find it out of order, and members of the public were using the “Health Centre,” making it feel more like a shared gym than a private hotel facility. Overall: I’ve had better stays at budget and even no-star hotels with far better hospitality and amenities. Sadly, I can’t recommend The Heritage Christchurch until significant improvements are made

we had a very nice 3 night stay at the Heritage. Our hotel room was spacious. It had a kitchen, dining area, living room, separate sleeping loft, and laundry and good wi-fi. The hotel is in a good location, within a short walk to the restaurants on New Regent Street and the tram. There is a hot tub and swimming pool in the basement for guest use, but we didn't get a chance to use it. The hotel is a converted government building so has a historic charm. Would stay here again.

We are finishing a three night stay at this hotel and have been very pleased with our stay. ||The apartment style worked really well for us after being on the road in different hotels for over a week. The kitchen enabled us to eat breakfast in our room with toaster, fridge and kettle available. The kitchen is fully stocked and the dishwasher came in handy. ||We enjoyed the open spacious feel of the apartment. And definitely having laundry available right in the unit was incredibly helpful. ||We loved the architecture of the building inside and out. The hotel is well located - New Regent Street is maybe five minutes away. Quake City museum was a ten minute walk away. Many restaurants, stores and grocery stores nearby. ||We ate the OGB restaurant downstairs and food was very good. ||I would recommend this hotel.

The rooms were gorgeous. We requested a twin rather than a king bed and the staff were more than obliging when we arrived and realized it was a king! They were there within minutes to correct it. The staff were so helpful. The room was clean and beautiful. We felt like royalty. The coffee /tea facilities were basic but everything we needed was there. The location was perfect. Dead centre! Close to literally everywhere. The car parking was safe and well explained. We were told of the sneaky back door to save us carrying stuff around. The gym, pool and spa/sauna were amazing. Well cared for. We certainly felt well looked after. Washing machine and dryer in the room, were a very welcome touch. Breakfast at Distinction was so well organized and a lovely fare! I'd 100% stay there again.

Very good location. Lovely Suite with kitchen and washer /drier. Spacious with lovely windows (needed cleaning) ||Bed was a bit soft but lovely linen Good shower and nice bathroom. Could use a bit of updating but overall just what we needed after three weeks in a motorhome! Very helpful Clarice on Reception. Thank you. ||The front bar/ restaurant and live music were welcome on Sunday afternoon.||||Only one real issue - The steps to the front door were hard for us to negotiate with our luggage but we managed them. Might be difficult for people with mobility issues.

Had a 3 night stay here as part of our New Zealand tour. After 2 weeks travelling and staying in hotels it was great to have a spacious 2 bed apartment so we could do all our laundry and get organised for the next part of the trip. Fabulous building with great heritage features but it’s starting to look dated. The room was clean comfortable and spacious but in need of an upgrade. The in house gym and pool again need updating but were a great addition.

Stayed here 5 nights and generally everything was good, with a few notable exceptions. The rooms are large, with kitchenette and TV area downstairs, and bedroom and bathroom upstairs. The stairs are very narrow, and hard to bring suitcases up and down. The architecture of the building is wonderful. The location is very good. The in-room washer and dryer did not work very well. The washer ran for 2.5 hours, and left the clothes sitting in a pool of water. There is no air conditioning in this hotel. The parking garage next door is close, but getting out requires a very tight turn into a narrow alley.

What a charming and grand heritage building this is and a real pleasure to have had the opportunity to stay here. The rooms were spacious and provided a super king bed that was very comfy. Shower pressure was incredible. Having a washing machine and dryer in the room was fantastic too. There was live band each night in the front bar area. Beautiful cocktails to enjoy while sitting and relaxing. This place is close to trams and eateries, so everything at your doorstep. A must stay while in Christchurch!
