Great hotel! Rooms are updated and unique while still maintaining the building’s historic character. The location is perfect. We loved exploring Schiltach. The owner was extremely welcoming, helpful, and knowledgeable on the area and things to do and see - and an excellent chef to boot. We really enjoyed our stay here and wished it could have been longer - definitely recommend!

Alex and Christine are the perfect hosts, so very accommodating and welcoming. Nothing was too difficult for them.||||We had unfortunately booked through Priceline (online booking app) they had stuffed up the booking (and we had not checked it ahead of time). Alex made the necessary arrangements to provide a bed for our 16 year old daughter and find a table for dinner. BOOK DIRECT with Alex and Christine, it would be a much better experience upon arrival (https://www.adler-schiltach.com).||||The town of Schiltach was quaint but beautiful. The hotel is centrally located in a residence that dates back to 1604. But don’t let the outside deceive you (although it has a beautiful facade), when you enter you find inside it is superbly and tastefully finished with the best fittings and the ambiance that has been created befits a five star facility! A CREDIT to the owners!||||We had dinner and breakfast in the same hotel and the food was AMAZING! Perfectly prepared and cooked beef and veal with seasonal fresh vegetables is some of the best we have eaten! The breakfast was modest but certainly enough to send us on our way!||||If you find yourself exploring the Black Forest region, a trip to Schiltach is worth your effort and we HIGHLY recommend the Adler Schiltach Boutique Hotel and Restaurant.

Similar to some travellers' comments, the hotel owner (the man) was unfriendly. The most ridiculous thing was that you needed to pre-advise the owner the next day breafast choice and the no. of perosn taking breakfast, despite that the type of room already indicated the potential no. of guests. Otherwise, they would not prepare any breakfast for you.||||Yet, we did fall into this "trap" and forgot the advise fully our breakfast choices (indeed every human being needs to take breakfast normally without the need to declare). As a result, the owner only prepared only one set of breakfast for two of us. We accepted this result as we believed that it was our fault not to inform them in advance.||||However, the most absurd thing happened was that I was blamed by the owner for not advising them in advance. He actually scolded me in front of other guests in the restarant, blaming me for not responding his message. Indeed, we were too busy travelling around the town after check-in and forgot to frequently review emails. As a resonable man, how could you expect a tourist to monitor its email when he/she was busy travelling. I remained silient afterall despite his scolding in order not to arouse further his emotion. Yet, he kept of blaming me "3 rounds"! It was insane!||||In short, from hotel perspective, it is a sin that customer does not pre-advise the breakfast details to the hotel. Despite that customer "loses" his breakfast as a 'punishment', he/she needs to be further blamed and scolded by the onwer!||||I guess that this hotel might be a bit racial discriminating against Asian as he was nice to other western travellers (owner was talking nicely with other western ppl) notwithstanding that I was treated in a totally different dimension.

Our stay at the Adler Schiltach was one of the best hotel experiences we have had. We were treated warmly with true hospitality and the rooms were spacious and well appointed. The meals we had here were some of the best we had in Germany. Don't miss the cakes in the afternoon if they are available when you are there!

The restaurant area looks fantastic but we just dropped in for a coffee and sat outside on the plastic garden chairs. Imagine our surprise to be charged €3.90 for a simple black coffee. The going rate around here is about €2.50. The service was super friendly. Just be aware that more affordable alternatives are just around the corner.

Run by a very nice husband and wife team. Building has a ton of history with a newly renovated interior. Food was excellent. Located right off the main square. Definitely recommend.

Very pleasant stay and exceptional cuisine. You are really well looked after. The chef cooks excellent fresh meals. Allergies are also very well taken into account. Don't be put off by the price, you get real quality for your money. Recommended!
