I do not write long reviews, but this deserves my time. The only thing about this boutique hotel is the price. I t is not a hotel at all. At best, they are serviced apartments (which are quickly cleaned while you're having breakfast, because the whole hotel is locked up directly afterwards)The owner/manger was rude and had an argument with, well actually tried to berate me (because of a cancelled restaurant booking) which he tried to charge me 50 euros each, and although we gave plenty of time (37hrs) when cancelling (for genuine personal reasons) and this was in front of guests at breakfast. He said that he had 'purchased all the items from the market - how he knew what I was going to order was very clever indeed. The hotel, and I use that term lightly, is advertised as having a bar and restaurant and outside space which are all open from Tues/Sat - They were not. As soon as the breakfast was finished, all doors were locked, everyone disappeared and you had leave by the side door - you could not gain access to any part of the hotel at anytime during the day, or night, as all doors were locked. There was no one on site until the next morning at breakfast (which you had to order the day before, and could not change it) No front desk staff, no receptionist, no guest service agent, nothing. When asked if we could get a drink in the evening, we were told there was a 'vending machine' in the hall by the stairs. Don't be fooled by the slick website. It is not what's advertised. Totally disappointed and feel cheated. - have tried contacting them several times and have not had any response at all; not surprised really. Don't book this place, you will be disappointed and out of pocket.

This hotel has very nice rooms and a great location in a lovely little town in the Black Forest. However, as others have noted, the restaurant was closed and there was no breakfast either. What sticks in my mind with this stay is how we were treated by the owner. We were rushed to check in, and kept being told that we had to be out by 10.00. It was really not very welcoming at all, and this was very disappointing, especially in our case as we had arrived a after a long day's driving. If you are running a hotel, surely the basic requitement is to be a welcoming host? There are a a couple of bakeries nearby, and we ate at the tapas restaurant tin the square which was lovely.

Worst experience ever. The house is right on a busy street and we weren’t able to sleep at all. The bed had hair and dirt on it. The bathroom reeked of urine. It was absolutely disgusting. We could only complain via WhatsApp since there is no reception.

Great hotel! Rooms are updated and unique while still maintaining the building’s historic character. The location is perfect. We loved exploring Schiltach. The owner was extremely welcoming, helpful, and knowledgeable on the area and things to do and see - and an excellent chef to boot. We really enjoyed our stay here and wished it could have been longer - definitely recommend!

Alex and Christine are the perfect hosts, so very accommodating and welcoming. Nothing was too difficult for them.||||We had unfortunately booked through Priceline (online booking app) they had stuffed up the booking (and we had not checked it ahead of time). Alex made the necessary arrangements to provide a bed for our 16 year old daughter and find a table for dinner. BOOK DIRECT with Alex and Christine, it would be a much better experience upon arrival (https://www.adler-schiltach.com).||||The town of Schiltach was quaint but beautiful. The hotel is centrally located in a residence that dates back to 1604. But don’t let the outside deceive you (although it has a beautiful facade), when you enter you find inside it is superbly and tastefully finished with the best fittings and the ambiance that has been created befits a five star facility! A CREDIT to the owners!||||We had dinner and breakfast in the same hotel and the food was AMAZING! Perfectly prepared and cooked beef and veal with seasonal fresh vegetables is some of the best we have eaten! The breakfast was modest but certainly enough to send us on our way!||||If you find yourself exploring the Black Forest region, a trip to Schiltach is worth your effort and we HIGHLY recommend the Adler Schiltach Boutique Hotel and Restaurant.

Our stay at the Adler Schiltach was one of the best hotel experiences we have had. We were treated warmly with true hospitality and the rooms were spacious and well appointed. The meals we had here were some of the best we had in Germany. Don't miss the cakes in the afternoon if they are available when you are there!

We loved out stay in this cute town and hotel. The owner is very kind and makes you feel welcome. Don’t miss his food for dinner. He is Michelin star quality chef! Amazing food! The rooms are very nice and have everything you need. I wouldn’t hesitate to book here again. Thank you for the wonderful stay!
