We give this hotel a 1 star due to the absolute rudeness of the owner. He swore in front of us & to us. Not only us but other guests. We dined at the restaurant as well as stayed at the hotel. The food was average & very expensive for what it claims to be. When we asked for bill we got yelled at because he didn’t understand what we had said. It was all very confusing & confronting. He is quite aggressive. Unfortunately for him he ruins this place. Maybe an off day, maybe not. Although no excuse. He went on & on about how he had to be somewhere else. Expensive stay for what it gives. It’s in the most Devine & pretty town & part of the world. The Black Forest itself & all its surrounds are very beautiful & worth a visit. Lots of lovely areas to enjoy & stay close by. The town itself beautiful for a day stop.

Perfect stay. We stayed 2 nights in this small hotel. It is in an historic building right in the heart of this exceptionally beautiful town. The room was huge, well decorated and spotlessly clean. It was quiet and very comfortable. Alex was friendly and welcoming. The breakfasts are delicious. We ate in the restaurant one night and the food was superb. We will definitely return.

Amazing food and great hotel. Very romantic and friendly staff. The owner is also the chef. And he is amazing. We had the quail and veal! What a good meal! Thank you Alex!

I do not write long reviews, but this deserves my time. The only thing about this boutique hotel is the price. I t is not a hotel at all. At best, they are serviced apartments (which are quickly cleaned while you're having breakfast, because the whole hotel is locked up directly afterwards)The owner/manger was rude and had an argument with, well actually tried to berate me (because of a cancelled restaurant booking) which he tried to charge me 50 euros each, and although we gave plenty of time (37hrs) when cancelling (for genuine personal reasons) and this was in front of guests at breakfast. He said that he had 'purchased all the items from the market - how he knew what I was going to order was very clever indeed. The hotel, and I use that term lightly, is advertised as having a bar and restaurant and outside space which are all open from Tues/Sat - They were not. As soon as the breakfast was finished, all doors were locked, everyone disappeared and you had leave by the side door - you could not gain access to any part of the hotel at anytime during the day, or night, as all doors were locked. There was no one on site until the next morning at breakfast (which you had to order the day before, and could not change it) No front desk staff, no receptionist, no guest service agent, nothing. When asked if we could get a drink in the evening, we were told there was a 'vending machine' in the hall by the stairs. Don't be fooled by the slick website. It is not what's advertised. Totally disappointed and feel cheated. - have tried contacting them several times and have not had any response at all; not surprised really. Don't book this place, you will be disappointed and out of pocket.

Owner is extremely kind and hospital, we had a very comfy stay. Good restaurants within a 1 minute walk. Would stay again 👍🏼

This hotel has very nice rooms and a great location in a lovely little town in the Black Forest. However, as others have noted, the restaurant was closed and there was no breakfast either. What sticks in my mind with this stay is how we were treated by the owner. We were rushed to check in, and kept being told that we had to be out by 10.00. It was really not very welcoming at all, and this was very disappointing, especially in our case as we had arrived a after a long day's driving. If you are running a hotel, surely the basic requitement is to be a welcoming host? There are a a couple of bakeries nearby, and we ate at the tapas restaurant tin the square which was lovely.

Great hotel! Rooms are updated and unique while still maintaining the building’s historic character. The location is perfect. We loved exploring Schiltach. The owner was extremely welcoming, helpful, and knowledgeable on the area and things to do and see - and an excellent chef to boot. We really enjoyed our stay here and wished it could have been longer - definitely recommend!
