We spent 2 nights- 9 adults and 3 kids and 2 dogs. We had a standard and deluxe rooms and camping on the beach. Beach was awesome. Spend all the time there except to sleep. Rooms have been used but were affordable and everything works. It’s by the beach so sand is expected. Armando was awesome - made our omelet breakfasts to order. Comes with bacon sausage potatoes and toast. Was perfect to start the day. The staff was so very kind and hospitable. I love this place. Can swim, fish, eat and sleep all within steps of each other. Recommend.

Rooms fit the need - cooled off just fine - close to lake - burgers were amazing and delicious! Fries too! Will be back for sure. Rooms quiet and dark for good sleep. Helpful staff and friendly - thank you to Meghan S for pointing us in this direction! 😁

Google
Didn't stay at the resort, but ate at the restaurant. It was amazing! Huge portions and fair prices are just the start. The quality and taste are high end, and the staff is great.

Google
Worn out, outdated, run down and over priced. The location is good and restaurant is good but a tad pricey. Our tv didn't work, bedroom window was taped over due to a crack, bathtub creaky as if floor was going to break and moldy, mold in ceiling of living room and ant infested kitchen. Doesn't seem like any money has been spent on upkeep. It's a $100 a night place but that's not what they charge.

Google
The atmosphere, service, and hospitality at Admiral’s are top tier. Sabrina took great care of us and she made us feel like regulars during our first dining experience. We will definitely be back!

Google
Rented a cabin. It's supposed to be a 3 bedroom. It was only a 2 bedroom. My other guest had to leave not enough room. We showed up, I went to the beach. I came back to our room to find out. It was only 2 bedrooms on top of that. I went to take a shower. The shower had an inch of dirt. On the bottom of the shower i was disappointed ended up driving 3 hours 2. I need to go home. And didn't even stay the night

Google
I had a great meal and without a doubt the best service. The rooms were clean and the place was quiet.

Google
Not the RV experience we were expecting, but location to the lake is awesome and the on site restaurant very convenient and tasty. Staff was super helpful

Yelp
Not a big fan of whatever is happening here. Firstly, the service was really subpar, and it wasn't busy for a Saturday night in peak season. Our server missed 1 out of every requested item we asked for. I got a chicken sandwich and did question if it was fully cooked. The margarita has straight salt at the bottom :( I really only enjoyed the large pretzel and would opt for just that next time (if there is a next time) There are not a lot of options on the water or near it, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend this area just as a food spot.

Yelp
Good food. If they're not busy service is ok. Need more staff. Seems like they concentrate on bar business instead of restaurant side. The regulars that frequent the place seem to get most of the attention.

Yelp
Great food and service. I didn't expect this level of food! Try the schnitzel and the bang bang shrimp! Wow!

Yelp
Honestly, this was one of my favorite places to come a couple of years ago, I still love the venue, but I was extremely disappointed today. My steak was good but my kids' chicken strips had to be sent back twice because they were completely raw in the middle... my kid was screaming he was hungry... upon the second looking (almost) as bad as the first they decided to offer us PBJs for my kids and the bread was hard Texas toast... really disappointing. :( My drink (Lada Colada) was delicious.

Yelp
Best food and service on the lake. What a step up Thanks for being here this place just continues to get better

Yelp
I wanted to like it at minimum. Such a poor visit. Three kids, two adults; meh. Being the only nearby option for dinner, they took my money with disappointment. Overpriced for less than average food. Two cheese burgers were over cooked. The chicken tenders chewy and passable. My fish and chips were not fresh tasting and overcooked. The fries were the only item that tasted decent. $4.50 per cup of chocolate milk for the kids, "Inflation is real...how much do you usually pay for kids chocolate milk at other places (pause) is $4.50 okay?" asked our server. Like I had to negotiate this normal request. If you are here for drinks, I would hope they do better. I did not order an alcoholic drink. I feel terrible for the low review. Pandemic time period, they need the business. But, I was disappointed at all turns. No ice tea after ordering and being told to chose something else five minutes later. No American cheese for burgers, again after ordering five minutes before, had to substitute Swiss or cheddar as they were out. The ketchup bottle lid was crusty and had a hard plug that I had to remove with a knife. The flies, I guess you just get used to them, sure didn't help. It was disappointing. $90 total plus 20% tip for a below average dinner without alcohol for two adults and three kids. I hope the food can be improved by the owners. Service was great. Work with what you have? It wasn't the servers fault. Thin menu should not have issues, basics. Overall, not worth the visit.

Yelp
Saturday Night 6:30 PM Tried to order a sirloin steak, they were out so we changed to chicken Schnitzel. All 3 kids ordered chicken tenders. 10 minutes after ordering, our server came back and told us they were also out of chicken tenders, and the kids would need to make a different selection. Asked the server to tab us out he said he would go get the manager. He came back and charged us for the kids sodas and my beer. Would have been happy to pay for my beer but then you charged me for sodas bc you can't manage your restaurant? You got to be kidding me man!

Yelp
Most definitely not new to lake McConaughy and visiting but I decided to wander a little further down the lake I'm really glad I did. Some of the best New England clam chowder I've had I kept saying this taste like the great ones I've had in Massachusetts sure enough the chefs from Connecticut originally!! I have had a chance to visit this establishment but at least six times now and I have never been disappointed by the service or the menu that they serve! This is not bar food this is a great restaurant with a great menu and a great atmosphere!! I had to try the sangria and it's delicious chicken tacos were fabulous and the bang bang shrimp my goodness makes the fat man happy Cheers

Yelp
I wish I could have tried this place, but we never got to eat. The sign said open until 9. We arrived to watch the sunset at 750. No one was there to greet us so we went to a table. A waitress approached us and said that the kitchen was closing at 8 but she would check. We overheard another waitress say, "I hate tourists." Then she came to our table and rudely said the kitchen is closing at 8. Then even ruder said it a second time. As we were leaving in our car a cook stopped us and said to come back in and he would make whatever we wanted. We kept going. Why would we want to give our money for such rude treatment.

Yelp
After a full day at the lake, this is a great spot for outdoor dining. We had the chickie basket, fish tacos, hamburgers, BLT, hog wings and Philly cheesesteak- other than the hog wings, all were delicious! For desert we had the grilled donut and fried cheesecake. Both fine but not worth the calories. Super fun place and we will be back!

Yelp
This place is so refreshing! Lovely, sweet people and staff is like family. Hidden gem! Zach the GM went above and beyond to make my kids feel comfortable!

Yelp
TLDR version: I wouldn't recommend staying here. When booking, the office neglected to mention that no blankets would be provided. They also neglected to mention the broken concrete steps leading to "cabin" #1 (it was really just a poorly furnished room.) Also off the mention list was that the world's worst cover band would be playing next door until midnight or later, with the sound cranked up. Light fixtures that don't work, multi-legged "friends" in the bathroom, an absolute low-bidder approach to furnishings and finish, all coupled with an overpriced rate, didn't do much to endear me to the location. Add in an inadequate parking area for units 1-4, a sketchy A/C unit, and a door lock that felt like it might fall apart if used just one more time. Save your sanity. Stay somewhere else.

Yelp
Very good pulled pork tacos and sandwiches. Burgers are good too! Be prepared to wait and enjoy your company, but overall a great experience!

Yelp
Not a lot of options in the area. We wanted to get out of our camp to celebrate a birthday. Was a little nervous about this place, but was pleasantly surprised. They have a huge outdoor patio with a stage and outdoor lights. Our group was large (14) and they sat us indoors with no problems at 7pm on a Saturday night. Our waitress, Jill, was a hustler. She worked really hard for us. The drinks were tasty , I enjoyed the Salty Bitch, but I know my friends liked the margaritas too. The food options were surprising....like truffle fries and Bang Bang Shrimp (both good). Burgers were good, the Fish sandwich was good, overall all the food was great. Again, so pleasantly surprised for such a remote restaurant to be this tasty. The best part was our dessert- we ordered dessert for my birthday and they sang loudly for me...and the GM came out singing too and ended up comping all of the desserts for my birthday. So sweet of them, and made this birthday girl feel pretty special. Thanks for a great night!!!!

Yelp
July 2022 the food was great. We ate at the Cove several times during our trip. Now, July 2023 - was excited to eat at the Cove. The same menu as before (which is great). This time the food was not good. The Bourbon Steak that we just loved before was not good at all. Our son ordered the Fish & Chips - way over cooked and the Ribeye for me...meh - just loved paying $35 for fat! The bill was $90. The server started out good then for some reason became a little crabby and kind of ignored us. There was just one other group of people in the restaurant when we were there sooooo...not very busy. I only tipped 15%, which is the 1st option on the little electronic device they give you to pay with. One she saw that she became, well, crabby is not the word I would use. Anyway, in the 10 days we were at Lake Mac - we didn't go back.

Calley K.

Yelp
My new husband & I came to Lake Mac for our honeymoon & we ended up spending three of our nights drinking (& eating) here! We LOVE the Cove!! Service was slow day two but they were super busy!! The food is amazing-- Jason suggests the shrimp and I suggest the lada collada! Sheyann (spelling?) was AMAZING! We will definitely be back!!
google avatar

Donne W.

Yelp
This place is a beach bar and restaurant with cabins and rooms... the food is always good, from ahi tuna, pork belly, the best juicy burger ever, puffy shrimp tacos... never been disappointed!! They have live bands on the weekends and holidays!!! It is not the Hilton, it's a cute little beach spot that's been here 50+ years but the new owners have been remodeling year after year!! This is truly a gem!!
google avatar

Garrett K.

Yelp
Great place to have dinner with friends and family while watching the sunset on the lake. On Saturdays during the summer they have bands come in. Most of the time they're awesome, and when they are its a night full of cover songs, dancing and cold drinks!

Ashley R.

Yelp
We had an amazing time here. Zack the general manager was super helpful and the employees at the general store were great when we needed things for our kids. I would recommend this hotel/campsite hands down.

John G.

Yelp
We enjoyed our lunch here after a morning on the water. Excellent food and drink options. Really enjoyed the ahi appetizer and all our food was great. They have new ownership and chef and really worth checking out.

Ethan L.

Yelp
Below average accommodations but they had hot water and air conditioning which was nice. We had low expectations from other reviews. Reason for the 1 star review: We found a condom wrapper and 2 "clean up" rags under the bed. When we brought this to the attention of the staff, they were apologetic, but did nothing to make it right. Not only is this filthy, but its a testament to how the rest of the property was cleaned. We stayed there with our kids. I'm glad i looked under the bed before one of the kids.

Nicole C.

Yelp
Soggy Reuben, cold fried beans, and telling a 9 year old they can't dance without a parent.......not so happy about spending money on the food or cover charge for the band. No bueno.
google avatar

Megan T.

Yelp
The food was amazing, and well priced. They really cook everything fresh and delicious. Their service needs help. They are very understaffed and it takes forever to get drinks and food. This is no fault of the staff on hand, they were great. But the management needs to hire more people if they want to get four or five star reviews. I

Stacey K.

Yelp
(Reviewing the restaurant) my husband and I ate dinner here twice and the food was outstanding! This is not your typical bar food restaurant. Also their staff was super friendly. One evening our truck got stuck in the sand nearby and she had several locals with a jeep and a wench come help us out. Super friendly locals, amaizing food and drinks, we can't wait to come back! We will keep our truck out of sketchy areas next time!

Erik B.

Yelp
Wow! Really amazing food! Delicious and carefully prepared. Had the goat and greens salad, jalapeño poppers and fish
google avatar

Shad D.

Yelp
(this review is for the restaurant) Stopped in for a late lunch after everything else we could find was closed. Service was very fast, even though menu warned that some dishes are slow. I had the shrimp basket, which was good, nothing wrong but nothing special either.

Marty S.

Yelp
This is an overall of the Admirals Cove... this is shades of old Route 66! A secret that many know but wish not to share. Why because it's cool. Way cooler than one would expect for Western Nebraska for sure. Look the digs are early motor court and rooms aren't up to the Interstate standards but this is for the adventurous. Plus with rainbow and tiger trout in Lake McConaughy this where you need to be! The room is a place to recharge and prep for the next day. Clean basic and inexpensive nuf said. And it comes with a coffee pot. Now the real surprise is the restaurant. Absolutely excellent fare with all the bells and whistles. Amazing enough we were the only two persons there at 5:30pm! Fish tacos were prepared as if this was San Diego! Excellent. And a true Rueben Sandwich that has its origins from Omaha for sure. A couple of Zipline IPAs and dinner is a wrap. This place is howling in prime summer months. So first tune in the GPS and look for Lake Mac. Once you've done that prepare to enjoy and relax! Hopefully Casey will still be there, she's a winner and will help put the hunger away! Good on you guys
google avatar

Margaret A.

Yelp
We planned on camping on Lake McConaughy, but a huge storm hit and our tents were swamped. Roxanne was very helpful and accommodating! I would definitely come back and stay here, or at least stop for a meal and a drink if we're camping!
google avatar

Vicki K.

Yelp
I know for a fact there are NO BED BUGS HERE! I have been coming here for several years. The place is run by a down to earth family and go out of their way to make everyones stay an experience to remember. I give the place 5 stars!!

Hungry G.

Yelp
Great atmosphere for the beach! They have inside seating and an huge outside deck with a view of the lake along with a fun little bar. This place definitely made us feel like we were at the beach! The food is very good. I had the chicken sandwich with Swiss and mushrooms and hubby had the hamburger all very good the mushrooms were fresh sautéed not canned. Nice cold beer and great entertainment for our Saturday night at the lake. Beach bum atmosphere, great beer battered fries, and a lot of fun! You need to go and be willing to be patient for your food so don't go thinking you will be eating soon. They had very nice wait staff, just not very many of them.

Heather H.

Yelp
They have bed bugs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We stayed over the 4th of July and this place is disgusting. We found bed bugs in our bed after my niece was bit on the face and then found them after her getting bit. The actual room was filthy, smelled like it had never been cleaned. There was something rotting and dead in the kitchen, we could never find where the smell was coming from. You didn't want to walk on the carpet without your shoes on it was so gross. The location is great for the lake, but that is the only benefit to this crap hole. The bar is next door, which is great if you don't plan on sleeping, as the band will play till two in the morning and sounds like they are in your living room. Please do not stay here.

Kristene O.

Yelp
WORST SERVICE EVER. Went here for dinner with 6:30 reservations. When arrived, they had given our reservation away to another party. Apparently they don't check names when sitting people. They rushed to get us seated. It just got worse from there. Not enough menus for us? Okay, we shared two... They took our drink order which came fine and our appetizers which were a bit slow in arriving but were good when we received them. We finally got our order taken around 7:00. We were VERY PATIENT, checked a couple of times with the server and then at 8:30 decided to check in with the actual kitchen ourselves. Our ticket was still sitting there for an hour and forty minutes with NO cooking of our dishes being started. It was unbelievable. The owner gave us excuses of how they were swamped and had a new staff. Frankly I don't care what problems you're having. Just be honest and let me know that you screwed up. What a freaking joke of customer service. I would rate the food, but we never even saw our entrees. If I could give zero stars I would.

Jennifer K.

Yelp
Two in our party of four ordered margaritas. They were the worst! They both hated them, and I took a sip to see what they meant. They were sickeningly sweet and tasted off. Our waitress was nice about it and got them something else. She mentioned to the owner that our friends didn't like them. The owner came over and told our friend that she must not like margaritas (our friend always orders margaritas, if available, so that isn't true). The owner then told us several times that their margaritas are from a mix that uses Cuervo gold, which is "the best" according to her. All four of us go to Mexico at least once a year, and have had amazing tequila and margaritas. We didn't argue with her, but should have, as she kept saying several times how great their mix is. Not a tequila snob, but the Mexicans we know don't speak highly of Cuervo gold. I suggested that she might try it, as maybe the mix was off. We couldn't believe that she would tell customers they didn't know what they were taking about and then argue about how good her mix is! The good was good, as was the service from our waitress, but the owner is horrible worth customer service. And, the floor was dirty, with food all over it. If the owner wouldn't have spoken to us, or rating would have been a lot higher. Our friends live in the area and have said they'll never go back and were embarrassed for recommending it.

Jodi S.

Yelp
They most certainly have a BED BUG issue! We stayed in cabin #5 at "The Cove". Once we realized there was bed bugs in the bed we started stripping the bedding off and the bugs came out of hiding and were crawling up the walls, There was even dead bed bugs in our towels in the bathroom. The best part is when we went down to the office about it they acted like they had never had an issue with this before and were in shock. Clearly a lie since there is another report on here from a Heather H. from her July 4th stay and it sounds like we were in the same cabin too. There was also a wedding party there for the weekend and they were allowed by the staff to rope off the only beach there for their use only all weekend! So all other paying resort stayers were forced to swim at the boat dock and had absolutely no beach to sit at or lay on. It wasn't fun having to worrying about our children's safety as the boats came and went all day. They did refund us for our stay but I will not return to this place again. My poor mother tried to have a nice vacation for her kids and grandkids and was crying when we left because of everything that had happened over our stay.
