Lots of potential, but run down. The suite was clean and a nice verandah, but a small BBQ is a must but not offered! Also, broadband wi-fi was not available, and that being the case, it should have been prominently mentioned on their website, as these days it's a given. If it's mentioned, we missed it. Tossed between 2 and 3 stars, but decided on 2 because it's expensive for what it is, not good value for money.

We loved our stay. The view from our apartment (nbr 1) was just as good as in the photos or maybe even better. It's quirky and slightly faded in some aspects but the kitchen and bathroom have been renovated. The large bedrooms feel luxurious and we loved the bathroom with its Moroccan feel. We booked direct which may be the easiest thing.

Without a doubt the most beautiful and relaxing B&B I've ever stayed in. Being able to bring our dog was the major drawcard initially, with the assumption that the real thing wouldn't be as good as the photos, but in reality this place is a revelation. Breathtaking views over the river where you can watch the sunrise from the dining table or hammock, a legit fireplace to warm the home of an evening, the rustic coziness of exposed timber and mud brick construction, abundant wildlife, and just the most beautiful sense of stillness. This is a place to just be. Add to that the sense that the staff all seem to legitimately care for you and your wellbeing (thanks so much for all the thoughtful touches Gavin), and that you're smack bang between pristine national parks, beaches and rivers and it feels almost more like a healing retreat than a B&B lol. A few practical points - Units 1&2 have renovated bathroom and kitchen, but those in 5&6 are perfect in their own rustic way (I think all are going to be renovated in a few months) - Heating is from the fireplace only, so be sure you know how to light one! - Each unit has its own firewood supply that is topped up daily - Hot water is mostly gone by the evening - Kitchen has everything you need other than an espresso machine - Able to hit 2.5Mbps over 4g, so connectivity is perfectly suitable for streaming, YouTube etc, at least in unit 5. The brick blocks the signal though so much slower in the bedrooms - TV has HDMI in

We have stayed for week-long holidays many times over twenty-five years, and we keep going back! Very comfortable, equipped with all you need, fabulous views over the inlet, birds and critters at your door, a wood-stove fire on chilly nights, solid and nicely quirky (our up-cycled bedroom door still retained the inscription "Tea Room"!). The original builder's love of nature and the environment is still very evident. It's a short drive into town and to a great variety of walks, and the lakeside walking path to the harbour starts right nearby. Also really reasonable rates - we wouldn't stay anywhere else in Mallacoota.

Amazing! It was a privilege to stay here. Absolutely beautiful flat with everything you could possibly need, gorgeous outlook and surrounded by wildlife. Thank you Peter and Margaret, your work is stunning.

I love this place! Very comfortable mudbrick dwelling high upon the lakeside hill. So high it commands a view over the whole lake and beyond to the ships Gabo Island. Easy access to temporate rainforest walks behind the hillcrest or down to the lakeside and then off into the National Park tracks. Bliss.

Great place to stay and unwind. Beautiful views, birdlife, wildlife and fishing. Can bike or walk into town also.
