Had an excellent experience at Adonia for afternoon tea! The scones were delicious and portion size wise it was very filling. We tried the full and mini tea sets. The mini tea sets surprisingly had a couple items that weren't on the full tea set, so we enjoyed trying both. They have a wall where you can smell all the different tea leaves served on the menu. The space is cute, but make sure to reserve in advance as the space is a bit small and can be crowded at times.

The food was delicious, service was friendly and helpful and the atmosphere is so cute for a tea house. I loved the caramel cream and blueberry yoghurt teas. I’d love to come back and try some full menu items. For an afternoon tea, the value you get for the quality of food and service is outstanding for the price you pay! Amy was our server and she was such a delight! Thank you Amy. Definitely recommend trying this place.

We went for lunch. Some of us ordered the sampler combo and loved the soup (and the rest - half sandwich and side salad). I ordered a salad and shared a sandwich with someone. The salad was fresh. The sandwich was good. I would like it better if the bread was toasted. I had a mini scone as well. I picked the cheese and chive scone which was delicious. I definitely will skip the sandwich and go for the trio scones next time.

Google
Wonderful tea room. Lovely decor, attentive staff and great selection of teas. We had the mini afternoon tea. The sandwiches and scone were excellent - warm and delicious as well as a nice selection of desserts. Received a warm and friendly welcome when we arrived and were served quickly. We will definitely be back.

Google
I had a great experience at this tea house today! First of all, this service was amazing. They are very attentive and kind. I really like the fact that the high tea is 2 hours as opposed to other places nearby which has a 1.5 hour limit. Honestly, you cannot really have a relaxing high tea in 1.5 hours. In addition, if you come during the weekday, you're allowed to have some people do high tea and other people order off the menu. During the weekend. It has to always be high tea per person. I like the flexibility! I asked for a vegetarian menu with no onion or garlic and they tried to accommodate. Overall. I absolutely recommend it here.

Google
This is hands down one of the best afternoon tea experiences I’ve ever had. The food was absolutely superb and exceeded our expectations. The staff were so friendly and helpful, our server Amy was so warm and welcoming! This is definitely a place I would recommend to anyone who loves a nice tea party!

Had such a lovely afternoon tea today. The food was delicious and I have to give a special shout-out to Fia, our server. She was super friendly and made the whole experience even better. Thank you for the warm and thoughtful service.

Google
We had Afternoon Tea here for our friend’s birthday last week. The whole experience was just wonderful! Vegetarian food for one friend, regular for the other six. SO much food for each person! Every single item was very fresh, very flavourful and beautifully presented. The tea selection was huge, and I recommend the fruit tea with the teapot full of fresh fruit pieces. All the teas are kept warm with little candle burners, and extra hot water is offered for top-ups. We were all very full by the end! The service is lovely too, and soft classical and jazz music plays in the background. The prices were extremely reasonable. We all thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon there. Don’t hesitate….!

Yelp
What a wonderful afternoon sipping tea with my mother. Adonia is very unassuming from the exterior but as you walk in the door, you walk right into a beautiful little English tea room. The staff are lovely and did such a great job of making sure that all of our needs were met. My mother was not a fan of her first tea and they happily changed it for her so that she had a great experience. The teas were lovely and the finger foods were delicious. Such a great variety of colors and flavors, great presentation for the eye, and great tastes for the palette. Would definitely recommend Adonia as a top tea room to visit in Vancouver.

Yelp
Adonia Tea House has been around for over 20 years. How has it taken me this long to visit this place? This has got to be one of my favourite tea houses in Vancouver now! What I love about this place is the variety of options they offer. There are options for omnivores, vegetarians and vegans at this place. Not only do they cater to different dietary restrictions but if you're wanting to spend a little less, or eat a little less they offer Mini Afternoon Tea sets! Regular Afternoon Tea sets are $55 per person and Mini Afternoon Tea sets are $38 per person. Oh, and  you can even order off a regular a la carte menu if Afternoon Tea fare isn't your thing. The food here was excellent. Quality ingredients were used for our food and they didn't skimp on anything either. While 3 of us had Afternoon Tea, my husband decided to order from the a la carte menu. He had a lobster bisque and a sandwich. One of the best lobster bisques he's ever had. Possibly even the best!  It's a popular place so I do recommend reserving well in advance to get a good table. We reserved only one day in advance and were put on a couch with two very small tables in front of us, and a side table on our left. It took quite a bit of maneuvering to fit our food and drinks on the small tables provided, and I had to turn to my left to pick up the very heavy teapot every time I wanted to pour some more tea for any of us. The lady who took my reservation over the phone did warn in advance that it would be a tight spot. I don't think I realized just how tight it was going to be. Wouldn't take this seat again, but with a bigger table I would absolutely come back to this Tea House sometime!

Yelp
Charming little tea room. Decorated with lots of nice antiques. Delicious bites served for their high tea service. Each person receives their own tiered plates, so come hungry! They offer a great selection of different teas and flavors. The tea sets are eclectic, which makes it fun and unique. Staff was very kind and friendly. They returned often with hot water to keep the tea warm. Food: they served two scones: one savory and one sweet. Both baked fresh in-house and melted in my mouth. Great flavor and they were the BEST scones out of the high tea experiences I had during my stay in Vancouver. She made a passion fruit mousse that was painted to look like a lemon: AMAZING both in flavor and in presentation. I enjoyed EVERY item with the exception of the egg salad sandwich: it was not the creamy egg salad, more dry. I also appreciated the pastry horn filled with a light guacamole, and the shrimp salad. Sooooooo good. If I lived in Vancouver, I would definitely frequent this place.

Yelp
We had a really nice afternoon tea experience here! It isn't the fanciest, but they do serve nice food, tasty tea, and have great service! It was nice that they had a dairy free and gluten free food option! Be sure to ask for extra hot water as the afternoon moves on because the tea quickly gets bitter as it continues to steep.

Yelp
A cute tea place with such warmth, class, and character. I love the selection of high quality, fragrant teas on hand. A night in Paris tea was so floral and amazing. The Irish cream tea was also delicious. The seasonal high tea menu for fall was varied and interesting. They do vegan, veg, dairy and gluten free options for those with food restrictions. The place is quaint, unique, and cozy for a lovely Sunday afternoon tea.

Yelp
First time here and we'll definitely be back! Everything we had really surprised us. All the pastries had so much flavor and tasted super fresh. The service was very great as well even for a busy Saturday afternoon and we were checked up and topped off with hot water plenty of times. Thank you for such a great afternoon!

Yelp
My family, friends and I love The Adonia Tea House. Their decor is wonderful. The exquisite cuisine is presented beautifully with friendly and attentive service. Scones are out of this world and everyone must try their tuna melt sandwiches. We use Adonia Tea House frequently for our catered events. We can rely on them as their menu features an extensive selection of fresh baking and entrees, and scrumptious teas for all of our guests to enjoy. I am privileged to recommend Adonia Tea House for the finest beverages, baking, sandwiches and so much more.

Yelp
The teahouse is really cute. The high tea is very nice and cute. The tea was delicious and you can have as much as you like. People are friendly and attentive. The only issue is that the place was very cold and we had to sit with our hats and our scarfs on. With winter heating would be welcomed....

Yelp
Mother's Day was truly spectacular thanks to the take away afternoon tea set by Adonia Tea House. I have been to Kerrisdale a gazillion times but never walked into Adonia Tea House! Their takeaway afternoon tea set consist of a Cranberry Orange Scone, Lemon Curd Tart, Vanilla Panna Cotta + Strawberry Coulis, Chocolate Ganache Cake with Raspberry Jam filling, Savory: Cheese and Chive Scone, Jumbo Prawn Cocktail + zesty cocktail sauce, Smoked Wild Sockeye Salmon Sandwich, Cucumber Antipasto cup, Traditional Egg Sandwich, Turkey & Apple croissant and Cucmber Cream Sandwich I was really impressed with all the sweet and savory bites. My favourite was the Wild Smoked Salmon Sandwich with their signature lemon cream cheese They know how to bring the best out of natural ingredients by using herbs and spices that compliment the traditional afternoon tea flavours. The scones were tender and flakey with a crisp exterior. The macaron had feet and a sweet filling. The lemon tart was tangy and full of lemon flavour which my mother loved the most. The Panna Cotta had the jiggle which makes it the correct consistency. The prawn was cooked perfect while the sandwiches all were delicious. Everything was really good! With aesthetic and taste bud expectations on the rise, most afternoon teas and high teas become either over the top and overpriced or dainty with a high service fee. Thankfully, Adonia Tea House marries great portion size, quality, creativity and price together in their afternoon tea sets. You won't be disappointed because my family and I have high standards with the foods we eat - thanks to me... and they all loved this tea set. Thank you Adonia for doing all the heavy lifting and making this Mother's Day a real treat!

Sue S.

Yelp
The staff were friendly and accommodating despite not having a reservation. We got 3 types of tea: night in Paris, raspberry Lavender and cherry white tea - all very tasty and does get bitter if left to steep without adding water. The shrimp and lobster bisque was tasty, tuna melt was delicious and hearty, scones, tiramisu and dessert plates were all top notch. We'd definitely return.

Yelp
As I mentioned earlier, this past year has seen an influx of shops which offer online sales. To be honest, it has made things more convenient... especially with the whole pandemic still going on. I like it because it gives us the chance to try out new places without having to leave the house (yes, I'm fully embracing the whole living-like-a-hermit way of life)... as long as I've got my sweetie by my side. Speaking of sweets, this past Valentine's Day, I ordered the Amore Afternoon Tea Box ($125) from Adonia Tea House (and arranged through Charcuterie Vancouver). This 30pc tea set includes a 50g bag of loose leaf tea and a selection of both savory and sweets so you can enjoy afternoon tea at home. The scones here are really good and we wound up visiting Adonia a few weeks later to pick up some more scones. It's a bit too late to get this for Valentine's Day but I'm sure they'll have some more good offerings in the near future.

Yelp
Loved my to-go afternoon tea set from Adonia! I purchased it for a nice date idea with my boyfriend for an after-work treat after work. They packaged everything nicely and the owners were so nice and also careful about being sanitary and maintaining a distance during this time. Will definitely be back! They are doing a special Mother's Day menu as well I hear, and will be pre-ordering for next weekend. Thanks Adonia!

Yelp
High Tea was a treat and a perfect way to visit with a friend to celebrate our retirement.

Yelp
I went with friends just to catch up and the service is outstanding. The tea and food is good but not anything special. I had the Mini Afternoon tea set which was $39 per person. Yeah not worth it. Everything was super tiny and for this price, I think they could have thrown in a few more treats. Will not be returning ever unless another friend throws a bridal shower party and I have no choice.

Yelp
Adonia is a super cute tea room located in the heart of Kerrisdale. They have an extensive menu with lunch and dessert options, but their specialty is British style afternoon tea (which is totally instagram worthy). In terms of ambiance Adonia really hits the spot. There are countless antiques and other details that fill up the cozy little space. It feels a bit like a Victorian sitting room, and the vintage themed decor really sets it apart from most other tea rooms. I have to give Adonia props for having an amazing vegan afternoon tea set. You do have to call in ahead of time to order but it's delicious and worth it. As for their non vegan items, their scones and sandwiches are always presented beautifully and delicious. Service is excellent and prompt. Your teapot will always be filled with hot water. I recommend that everyone come to Adonia for their afternoon tea cravings!

Yelp
I've been to many tea rooms/houses and this is definitely one I enjoyed! If you're looking for the typical elegant, British afternoon tea, then come here! took my mom and aunt for Mother's Day. It was their first time having the tradition Afternoon tea, using Royal Albert bone China tea cups . What appealed to me about this place is that the place is so feminine and dainty! And the little savoury and sweet treats were delicious and pleasing to the eye. I would definitely come back here again to chitchat about life with my special ladies, over tea :)

Yelp
Went there for my birthday and had the Vegan high tea. It was really good, first place I've been too where they had a decent non dairy option. The staff was friendly and tea menu was really extensive, I had the organic green lime ginger and thoroughly enjoyed it. For my birthday they actually gave me a 50g bag of the tea as a gift. They have other things on the menu and seem like a decent place to drop in for a nibble or lunch. Will be back to try the other teas and dishes as it was delicious.

Yelp
Place is rather small, but that doesn't take away from the service or the tea or the food. That said, because of its size, it's a suitable place for tea for two rather than a large group. Think intimate. I had the afternoon tea with blood orange tea. The servers were very attentive and the food was tasty. I didn't feel rushed like at other places. There appear to be many locals that come here. Twice, I heard people asking about the owner and if they could say hello. It was endearing and makes me think those people are regulars. I took off one star because the lid off the tea pot did not match with the pot, so this lead to some dripping when I poured the tea into my cup.
google avatar

Yelp
This is a great place for high tea. There is a large tea selection and it seemed like a lot more desserts that was included in the afternoon set meal then other places I've tried.

Yelp
Delicious afternoon tea with delicacy savoury scone, mini sandwiches, macaroons,.... Have warm and relaxing ambiance surrounded with classic music. It's worth to visit again !

Yelp
Cute high team place in the heart of Kerrisdale! Seats just about 20 people? The high tea was great with a wide variety of teas! The food was amazing but the only downfall (which made no sense to me or my cousins) there's basically 1 dessert and scone per person. It's not like other night tea establishments where they give each person both a savory and sweet scone and a dessert of each kind for each person. It didn't make any sense to us. We were 3 in our party and we all literally had to take a bite each out of every scone and every dessert they had! If that factor changed I would definitely be back, but for now, probably not... I love my scones! I don't want a 3rd of it!

Yelp
I went to this place today (March 9, 2020) at around 2pm. There was a WORM inside my soufflé!!!!!!!!!!! Will never go there again and I recommend you not to!!!!! Disgusting! The thing is I am pregnant and they made me eat something not fresh apparently! If something happens to me, I will sue them! By the way, it is rather pricey! I don't understand what they are spending all this money! Not on buying fresh ingredients for sure!!!!!
google avatar

Yelp
I've been to Adonia since when they first opened and service and the quality of the food has not changed. They are always accommodating to the customers and always treat us so well. They make sure that the food is fresh and delicious! I love their scones and tea selection best. I loved that for Mother's Day this year, they made beautiful carefully selected to-go tea boxes since the shops were closed due to covid. It was delicious and thoughtful!

Yelp
This place is a wonderful place to have tea and a bite to eat! We ordered the peach black tea and a fruit tea as well. The tea was awesome and the server was very attentive to providing our empty pots with multiple refills of hot water. We ordered the Full Afternoon Tea Set and it came with 3 tiers, each filled with a variety of delectable sandwiches, a scone, seasonal items, and desserts. My personal favorites were the potato salad, bread pudding, quiche, and the raspberry tart. The presentation of this tea set is gorgeous! We also had the lobster bisque which is AMAZING. It came with two toasted pieces of focaccia. The focaccia was delicious on its own, but when dipped into the bisque, made my taste buds feel like they were in heaven :)

Yelp
We decided to try Adonia for high tea. Unfortunately I cannot comment on the tea or the food, because we fled in terror. One word: RAT. I made eye contact with the RAT, a few feet from our table. He reared up on his hind legs, and that was enough for us. Interestingly, the staff had to ask the owner whether it was okay to leave without paying. Absolutely shocking experience.

Carmen H.

Yelp
This is my favourite spot in the city for high tea. The store is super cute inside. They have the best scones I love the cheddar chive. Their panna cotta is my favourite. The high was reasonably priced and the service was great. I highly recommend Adonia and will definitely be coming back.
google avatar

Jessica D.

Yelp
I give this place a three start rating mostly based on the decor and ambiance, as the food and tea could be improved upon. My friend and I both ordered the mini afternoon tea, which came on a pretty two tier platter. The food was ok, what you'd expect from a tea house (cucumber sandwiches, scones, treats), but the quality wasn't above average. The tea leaves were not taken out of the pot, so after sitting in the water for over five minutes, it began to over-steep. The server did come around offering more hot water, but anyone who knows tea knows that you should steep it properly the first time, and not add any hot water to dilute it afterwards. I also noticed that many of their teas include artificial flavouring. Overall, a cute place to try out, but not really worth the money due to lack of food and tea quality. And really, don't you go to a tea house for it's tea?
google avatar

Lin B.

Yelp
We went there randomly because we were in the area and felt like having afternoon tea. They were nice in accommodating us and the food was delicious. The place looked very old style British, as you would expect with a tea house.
google avatar

Chanelle D.

Yelp
Lovely location in Kerrisdale neighbourhood. Street parking was easy on a Sunday afternoon. The restaurant reminded me of grandma's place with all the royal china and fresh scones. We were impressed with the tea selection and the value we got for the high tea sweets and savouries. They had a good selection of gluten free items and were able to accommodate our customized requests. They also allowed us to choose more than one tea per teapot and a tea warmer beside our tables kept our tea steeped and flavourful.
google avatar

Melody M.

Yelp
This is such a cozy tea house. The pace isn't that big with an assortment of different tables and a couch. I felt like I stepped into the secret garden. There was a huge selection of teas that I had difficulty choosing just one. The savory and sweet food came in a cute little pasty tier. Crazy enough, if your not in the mood for tea time, the lobster bisque and the seafood chowder is amazing !!! The place was reasonably priced compared to other tea houses. The only two drawbacks were the place was small so you can fit only a limited amount of people inside and it isn't a suitable venue for big parties.
google avatar

Tracey O.

Yelp
I loved having high tea here! The decor is very cute and cozy, and the food and tea were delicious. It's not the best cream early grey I've had but definitely up there. The service was great and staff were very friendly. Carollers ended up coming in and singing a few Christmas songs which was a pleasant surprise.
google avatar

Yelp
My first time doing the tea house and this place topped on the list on the Yelp app. Cute place, great for small family and friends meetups. My gfriend has done the English tea in London so this wasn't her first. We liked the Rooibos tea and we thought they could do more on sandwiches, quantity wise. Otherwise great scones and ambiance. We'll try another tea house for another experience.

Yelp
After a screwup at Provence, we called around for another afternoon tea place, and Adonia Tea House let us squeeze in. It's a tiny place, so it was really quite a squeeze -- small couch plus two chairs, and food and tea onto two small tables and nearby side tables. So the presentation was a bit mixed (and my friend cut up the scones before I could get a picture). Decor and ambiance is nice for afternoon tea despite the cramped room, and they have many interesting and elegant pieces if you look around carefully. Tea for three had basically just the sandwiches same for everyone. Everything else was one-of-a-kind, so if you insist on trying everything, you'll have to nimbly cut and scoop a bit off everything. This is very non-standard for most afternoon teas I've had (except Soffee Cafe so far). Some people might not like it but I am more easy going and appreciate the choice it offers. Bottom tier ham sandwiches and cucumber sandwiches had the contents beautifully laid out but were otherwise really rather boring. Which is not a huge deal since they are light fillers. However, this set the tone, and I'm probably being biased with my experience of my afternoon tea. What looked like butter accompanying the jam was actually more like sweet cake icing, and I thought that was a nice touch. The sweets strangely tasted like it came from a store, but since they have a chef and kitchen back there, it is unlikely to be the case. I can't exactly put my finger on why they were strangely disappointing, but maybe it's the subtle things: Like the mini cupcakes being rather firm and a bit dry. Or the cheese mini-quiches being so wet on the inside. Or the scones having a fairly decent buttery aroma, but not so much in taste. It's also possible that it was a rush job because we just parachuted in with maybe a 30-minute warning on our reservation. They are skimpy on Afternoon Tea details on the website, and the pricing is off ($29 instead of $27 on the website). I counted 11 pieces on our full Afternoon Tea set. I did very much like the teapots and the special lower lip on the spout which helps tea pour with no messy dribbling, which can happen with other spouts that do not have this feature.

Yelp
Disappointing. Used to visit this place all the time a couple years ago. Went back recently and the quiche was soggy, the sandwiches were bland and the desserts tasted prepackaged. The tea was fragrant in all the wrong ways. Multiple diners around us didn't even finish their meals. Service is extremely attentive and friendly though. The bad food is not worth the nice service. Skip if you're looking for high tea in vancouver.

Yelp
Very relax atmosphere and you must try the fruit tea with the BLT sandwich. We visited Adonia Tea House for afternoon tea and found it to extremely relaxing and the girls are very friendly and professionally trained. Next time, We will try the afternoon tea set.

Yelp
I found out about this place as someone posted a review that appeared on the front page of yelp on November 24th. Being a tea whore I had to put this place on my "to do" list. Sadly I didn't get to do this place. I didn't make a reservation which was my bad, I will admit that, however, with the holidays everything has been up in the air hence why I could not make a solid commitment to anything. 90% of the time when you're a single person tea houses have been more than happy to accommodate. Considering that I wasn't with a friend the visit would've been short since there was no "mingling involved" (30 minutes tops I would've been in and out). Apparently they were completely full until 4:30 pm which is fine, however, it was odd that at 1 pm there were 3 sets of two seaters empty/unused. Assuming that the booking are in increments of 30 to 60 minutes each I assumed that all 3 individual "reservations" were late or were booked for 1:30 pm. This means that they could've, if they wanted to seat me. I've been in situations where a tea house has been completely booked, however, they've sat me with the full understanding that I only had 30 minutes given the situation. They would rather make another $40 tea sale than to turn me away. I walked by the store a few times and waited around the corner and noticed the pair of tables were still unused. I take full responsibility that I didn't call to make a reservation, however, it was over all the way they handled the situation, hence the 1 star review. It's their right to feel that they didn't want my money. Instead I went to Rose Tea house (see separate review for that) which was just 3 blocks down on W.41st and then 1/2 block in on Balsam.

Yelp
The short - Come here for the charm, not for the service (or the food, really). Get the scones, don't get the creme brulee. The long - Let's start from the good and work our way to the bad. Ambiance: 5* The person who says this place is more for the experience is totally right. From the wall paper to the china, Adonia got the look down. It's quaint, it's proper, it's victorian. It makes me wish I came here in a tea party dress, a facinator, and lace gloves. A perfect setting for girl talk and catching up with old friends. Value: 3* Average price for a pot of tea is ~$6. It's fine to order 1 pot for 2 people since they refill the hot water. Average price for desserts is $8. We ordered 1 pot + 3 desserts and the bill came to $32 incl tax. I think the price is fair. Food: 2* Peach black tea was pretty good but I wasn't blown away. As with many fruity tea, it didn't taste as good as it smelled. We ordered the creme brulee, trio of scones & dessert sampler. We were lucky that when we ordered, the scones were just being baked, so they came out fresh, moist, and delicious. The dessert sampler came with a fruit tart, mango pudding & white chocolate mousse. None of them were memorable - they tasted like store-bought varieties. Creme brulee should have a creamy and silky consistenty, but theirs was thick and heavy. It was also bland. Definitely a let down. Service: 1* We had a 7 o'clock reservation and at 8:15 a staff member comes and informs us that there is a reservation for our table at 8:30. I stared at her blankly. She finished sheepishly "So.. you have to finish your food.. and leave by 8:30.." We had been chit-chatting this whole time and had barely touched our desserts. You expect us to scarf everything down in 15 minutes? I informed her that we were never told there was a time limit. "Oh you should've been told when you made your reservation..." Well we weren't, I explained, nor did you tell us when we were first seated. She runs off saying she'll see what she can do and returns later to tell us that we can have until 9 o'clock to finish. I annoyingly agreed to try. At 10 to 9, the waitress drops off our bill without us asking. Then attempted to take away our full pot of tea and clear our plates with food still on them. We had to stop her. Another staff member comes to tell us that the next party has arrived and is waiting over there. Do you really think guilt-tripping would work? By this point, we just wanted to leave as fast as possible as we couldn't stand all the dirty looks they were giving us. It's really a shame, because if their attitude wasn't so horrible, I would come back once in a while "for the experience." Not sure about weeknights but it was a full house on a Friday evening (and probably the weekend). You definitely need a reservation as we watched them turn away customers after customers the entire time we were there.

Yelp
Fun day in Vancouver BC Canada topped off by having afternoon tea at the Adonia tea house located in the neighborhood of Karrisdale. Presentation and flavor of tea sandwiches and pastries fit the afternoon ambiance....excellent. Third time at this Tea House and they have never disappointed. Enjoy all the specialty retail stores in Karrisdale.....Reservations highly recommended.

Yelp
I've come to Adonia two times to have their afternoon high tea with a group of friends from work. We've heard about this place from a website and wanted to try it out - we were going through a huge afternoon tea kick. We were initially charmed that Adonia was like sitting in someone's granny's parlour. It was very empty when we sat down. We felt the tea selection had a lot of choices to choose from and the food was well done and fresh. Our waitress was very attentive and was always on hand to top off our teapots, cream pitcher, etc. We left raving about the place and vowed to make it back again. The second time we went back was the time that made us vow there are better tea houses to spend your money at. It was a very busy day for them and all the tables were full - they were turning away people at the door. We waited over forty minutes for our tea to arrive after ordering - and after that, another long wait to wait for food. The waitresses seemed all out of sort and could only say that there was a long wait due to there being too many people. My friends and I work in the customer service industry - we are more understanding than most and are very patient. But we can't abide that during those forty minutes - no one came back to check why our table was completely empty and void of tea pots when everyone else around us was busy eating and drinking their afternoon tea sets. No one came to explain the delay - while we would have been mildly grumpy about it, we would've appreciated the acknowledgement that we were waiting for a long time. They didn't pay us any attention until we started waving them down to ask what was going on. They gave us each a bag of one of their fruit teas as an apology - but although we thought the food was alright, after this experience, we never went back again. If you're heading into Kerrisdale and you want an afternoon tea experience - I would advise you to skip Adonia and go to the Secret Garden.

Yelp
Wow, I had such a great tea experience this week at Adonia. I went with a friend and we both ordered the Full Afternoon Tea Set. The sandwiches and sweets came in a beautiful 3 tiered glass tray, and the tea was served in a nice glass tea pot with a heater keeping the tea warm. All the sandwiches were more delicious than I expected, one with smoked salmon, a croissant ham sandwich, a cucumber sandwich with dill mayonnaise, and some others. There was also a really delicious mini quiche and tart. There were 10 different mini sweets for dessert including a mini meringue lemon pie, fruit tart, gold flake topped chocolate brownie, chocolate cake, and several others. The tea was amazing and full flavored. I had the mango tea and my friend had the strawberry tea. The tea was extremely delicious and went perfectly with the food. The decor is very cute and has an old English tea house feel. I would definitely go back!

Yelp
It's okay. I was disappointed by the bocconcini salad at $8 or $9. I guess you're paying for the ambiance. The waitress looked like she was having a bad day and every time she walked by, I could feel the floor shake. Maybe salad isn't what I should be trying at a tea house so I'll review after I try the afternoon tea.

Yelp
Cozy little tea room in Kerrisdale, but there are better choices out there. I did enjoy the antique decor portrayed, but just because you are going for antique does not mean your table lamps should be dusty (unless that is part of the experience which I doubt). It is also quite cramped in there, claustrophobic much? Tea choices were plenty with the usual tea room food items. I must say that their desserts are not as sweet as other tea rooms, so some people might like that. Personally, I like the sweetness overload. Being so average, this place did not leave any special impression for me the two times I have been here.

Yelp
Come hungry, leave pissed off. The phone staff who book reservations are braindead here. I booked two months in advance for Mother's Day High Tea only to have them call me on the wrong day asking where I was. 15 minutes later they sorted things out and called me back to say that the correct day was sorted out for me, great. After the meal I received a bill for 4 adults, although I clearly had two adults and two young children. I asked for the bill to be corrected and after the server "talked to the manager," they insisted on charging the full price, despite THEIR mistake in further screwing up the reservation for 4 adults. Very piss poor service for what pretends to be a high class, high price place. The food was good but the experience left a bitter taste afterwards. Please avoid this place and go elsewhere, especially for a special day such as Mother's day. Looking at the other reviews, it appears this place has a systemic problem with managing the 12 tables they have. Unbelievable.

Yelp
my conclusion about adonia tea house is that it is more about the experience than the food. the server was friendly but lacked knowledge about their tea's, seating was uncomfortable (the table closest to the window), and the food was just OK. - my friend and i had the mini afternoon tea: the ham and cheese sandwich was tasty, but the croissant sandwich was bland. in terms of pastries, the fruit tart was the best one and the rest were average. our choice of drinks included the iced coffee and iced jasmine milk tea that my friend and i both appreciated. i wouldn't return. my next stop for high tea would probably be secret garden tea house also in kerrisdale!

Yelp
I love this place for the decor and ambience - it's cozy, charming, and sophisticated. It's also good value, relative to other afternoon teas offered in the city. I usually go with the mini afternoon tea set which comes with 7 items, savoury and sweet. Their salads and sandwiches are also quite good. The thing I most appreciate about this little Kerrisdale gem is how easy it is to make a reservation - it doesn't have to be reserved weeks in advance, nor do you have to commit to ordering one high tea set per person in order to secure a reservation.

Yelp
A highly disappointing high tea. The sandwiches were okay at best, some of the desserts tasted like they came from Costco, and the restaurant (or maybe just the old couch that they sat us on?) had an odd smell that detracted from the ambiance. The Secret Garden in Kerrisdale is leaps and bounds better. Definitely won't be returning.

Yelp
I ordered the tea set for Mother's Day and we were blown away by the pretty package. Everything inside the box was meticulously placed with care. The variety sweet and savoury scones as well as the refreshing smoked salmon and cucumber sandwiches definitely hit the spot. We smothered the home made jam and whipped cream all over our goodies and finished off the meal with sweets and a delicious cup of earl grey tea. I highly recommend their set for anyone who wants to have high tea at home without the work - trust the ladies at Adonia to put everything beautifully together for you.

Yelp
Me and my friends were looking for a place to sit down while we talk and enjoyed the afternoon together, we weren't exactly looking for food or anything, just a space where we can spend time. And one of us suggest afternoon tea. I wasn't expecting much from it, seeing my friends were more of the important event to me. And it turn out to be exactly that way -- the food was insignificant. I wouldn't say it's bad, but I was expecting something more when I pay $35 dollars for what's on my plate. All the sweets are obviously from a box, and all the savories can be made easily from my own kitchen. Egg salad sandwich didn't have much taste to it, I think they can use more mayonnaise for that particular sandwich. Cucumber sandwich was nothing special, so I'll skip that one. And the chicken sandwich was the worst. I don't know how long that piece of meat has been sitting there, but it was cold, hard and dry. The sauce and seasoning did cover it up a little bit, but I still didn't enjoyed it quite enough. For the rest of my food, I pretty much have no memories of them, but I did remember thinking to myself that the brownie taste kind of old. Not exactly dry, but it has this taste that reminds me of a refrigerator that hasn't been clean for weeks. On the good side thought, I really enjoyed their tea. I ordered the one call "blueberry yogurt", and not only it smells like blueberry, it has this milky flavor that taste like yogurt. I put a lot of sugar in it to make it taste like juice, and it was served in this beautiful glass tea pot with a candle light tea warmer. Overall, we had a good time, but it was because I enjoyed the times seeing my friends. It is this beautiful little tea house with amazing ambiance, I think most of my money went to their renovation and furnishing instead of the food; Which I can't say to be unfair, but if there is another tea party coming up, I think I'd rather host it. I can make better sandwiches than that, and for the sweets, I'll just buy them from somewhere else just like they did. I would only recommend this place for those people who want to experience it, but if you are looking for food worth the money you paid for, you will have to look for it somewhere else.
