Not a top hotel, but may still be exactly the right choice (see below). The hotel is located in a large 1980s/1990s (opened 1987 back then being the Kyiv's first sky scraper hotel) building on the eastern shore of the Dnipro (called "left shore" as it is when looking along the river's flow direction). The same building accommodates a second hotel ("Tourist hotel") which seems a bit more luxurious - don't get confused, they use the same reception hall. The Metro station "Livyberehska" is just around the corner, about a minute walk away, and Kyiv's center is 5 stops (less than 10 minutes) away from there. The hotel room we had was clean and tidy, even slightly spacious. The bathroom was not very modern but OK. There was air conditioning (should be switched off when sleeping because the air flow is directed straight to the bed), a television set and a fridge available. Nothing posh, no stars, but convenient and agreeable. One thing was a bit irritating though: there were no free sockets in the room, only the razor plug in the bathroom. So in order to charge a mobile phone or attach a laptop we needed to unplug the TV set or the fridge. Here the hotel's age (and lack of thorough modernisation) takes its toll. Breakfast can be ordered as a chargable option. For a price of about 7 Euro you get access to a spacious 1990s-style dining room with a buffet. If you really want a western-style breakfast this one is probably not for you. While there are muffins, white bread (and a toaster), marmelade, cheese and sausage the selection is not impressive. However if you are ready for a Ukrainian-style breakfast this gets quite interesting. You can have all the warm dishes typical for breakfast in Ukraine, like fried egg with dill, boiled buckwheet with mushrooms, various sorts of vegetable etc., also cold dishes like the typical vinehret (red beetroot, with potato, cucumber, lots of onion, ...). Actually after getting ready to experment this turned out excellent. The coffee comes from reasonably modern coffee machines with bean grinders, various sorts of tea etc. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately in this hotel the staff seem to be instructed to speak Russian rather than Ukrainian, but if speaking to them in Ukrainian or English there is no problem. We had an "economy" room for two, when ordering through their web site you get some discount compared to ordering by phone or through any of the third-party booking portals. Prices are moderate compared to other hotels in the more central part of Kyiv. I am giving this 3 stars because there are some features missing that might be important to some. If, like for myself, these are not essential, this hotel is excellent value for money and a good place to get a good rest before going out to explore the city.

Not the best. Had to make our own beds and refit the toilet seat which was lying on the floor. Generally clean and the fridge was handy. Pulled the plug out the wall and the socket came with it. Wouldn’t stay again. Worst of all there was only a bit of toilet roll in the bog and when I asked for more at reception I was informed housekeeping would be back in the morning, went and bought some.

This hotel positions itself as 3-star, but it looks and feels just like Motel 6. The overall cleanliness was OK, but when I asked for an extra bath towel, they countered it with a question of their own, "What's wrong? Why do you need it?" The price and location was quite alright. Also, if you are sensitive to cigarette smoke, you might want to avoid staying there because even though the room itself was non-smoking, the hallways did have a lot of residual smoke, so some of it made it inside the room.

Comfortable clean hotel with a good location. Other advantages are: 24/7 reception, friendly staff, fast WiFi with very good coverage everywhere, big and comfortable bed etc. A minor disadvantage - a bit noisy surrounding.

Great hotel, nice staff and excellent location near the metro station. Ukraine is definitely a great place to visit, and this hotel made my trip a breeze!

Old building. Smelly with old furniture. But decent. A little costly compare to near by other options. Ok to select if you are getting at good rate.
