Sunrise Paddling and Spiritual Ceremonies in Bacalar, an Oasis on Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula | Vogue
"Led by Daniel Navarro, I joined a sunrise paddle where he stood waist-deep preparing our boards, then guided us across glassy water with careful respect for the lagoon’s stromatolites—rocky formations he explained are living beings estimated to be 3.5 billion years old that can die if touched—and he shared that Bacalar’s original name derives from “Siyan Ka’an Bakjalal,” as the first golden strokes of sun revealed silence and Caribbean-like clarity even though we were miles from the coast." - Michaela Trimble
Amazing private tour on a catamaran with our guide Dani and and Captain Igna. English and Spanish with so many important details of the lagoon. The guys were very professional, patient and discreet when necessary. We had an amazing time! We will come again!

We took the 3 hour morning private tour around the lagoon. Jesus and Daniel were great guides. They kept the energy light and engaging. We were about to swim and explore 2 different spots in the lagoon. They offered drinks and fruit throughout the tour, and made suggestions about local dining options which we appreciated. This was a perfect way to start our time in Bacalar. We learned about the area, the history, and how we could apprecaite the city.
Highly recommend spending a morning with Adventure Lab Sailing!

We did the catamaran sunset tour with Santi and Eddi, it was the most beautiful experience. Although the day started out rainy/stormy, the sun came out and the wind picked up resulting in some fun speedy sailing! Our capitans were very knowledgeable and friendly, happy to answer any questions and make our experience as good as possible! Highly recommend, this was the highlight of our trip to bacalar!

I did the sunrise paddle last Thursday and had the most amazing time! Both our guides were amazing! Chatting quite a lot with the one guide from Mexico very kind. Angelia From Colombia at the desk was really friendly and easy going aways happy to help and reconnect with the guests at the hostel.

Pure magic — we recommend it wholeheartedly!
Our guide, Igna, was a true nature lover who taught us so much about the lagoon. We had a great coffee break on the paddleboards and a mystical breakfast stop on a little sandspot in the middle of the mangroves. Thank you, Igna — we’ll keep paddling on!

It's my first sailboat experience, and it's really good. Our guides are super chill with everything and they are happy to be asked questions about Bacalar. I was by myself in the beginning but ended up having 10 friends after sunset. Highly highly recommended. The photos are from the dock ( the hostel itself).
