3 Best Day Trips from Las Vegas | Condé Nast Traveler

"Adventure Photo Tours was originally planned in the late 1990s as a mom and pop tour operation, and has since grown to a fleet of 30 vehicles and over 50 employees. Their custom-upholstered mini-coaches and 4x4s will pick you up free right at your hotel. For larger tour groups, they use 12-passenger Mercedes Sprinters, all emblazoned with the Adventure Photo Tours logo. You'll definitely need to reserve in advance. Consider booking a private tour if you want additional flexibility (and only want to travel with friends and family). If you're not a photographer , don't be worried ; these trips aren't only for professionals. However, the company does list which tours are particularly great for photographers, and will have plenty of advice on best vantage points." - Andrea Bennett

Our tour with Adventure Photo Tours was truly exceptional. Donna, the owner, went above and beyond to ensure everything ran smoothly. She was readily available to answer my calls and respond to all my inquiries, demonstrating great flexibility. We visited iconic attractions like the Hollywood Sign, the Walk of Fame, Santa Monica Pier, and Rodeo Drive, while also enjoying the scenic views along Mulholland Drive. Clayton, our driver, was not only accommodating but also incredibly knowledgeable, enriching our experience with insights tailored to our itinerary and time constraints. The private tour format allowed for greater flexibility than a group setting, giving us plenty of time at both the pier and Hollywood Boulevard. Day trips like this can be unpredictable, which is why having an experienced guide like Clayton made all the difference. With delicious food, snacks, and drinks provided, this long day was enjoyable and completely stress-free. I am immensely grateful to this fantastic team, including Jackie, who helped keep everything on track.

My wife and I just returned from our tour of the Grand Canyon, Joshua Tree forest and the Hoover Dam. Our tour guide Michael was outstanding. He was extremely knowledgeable with regards to the stops on the tour, as well as pointing out many things of interest along the way. Great sense of humour and a real passion for making sure everyone was satisfied with the tour experience. If your budget allows, I would also highly recommend doing the Maverick Helicopter tour at the canyon. Amazing experience overall.

While on holidays in Las Vegas we booked a tour to Zion National Park, with Adventure Photo Tours, they picked us up from our hotel along with 4 other customers, in a very comfortable small bus, and supplied snacks, water and lunch. The driver Christian was very friendly, knowledgeable and considerate. It was a 3hr drive to the park with a few stops for all to stretch their legs and use restrooms etc. The Zion National Park was absolutely amazing and Christian stopped at the best photo locations throughout the park, and we had an easy walk/hike of about 3 miles before lunch, the hike was along a stream on a paved path, and at your own pace. This tour was one of the highlights of our trip and I’d recommend it to anyone who enjoys nature’s beauty.

This trip was a great experience. Traveling to Area 51 has been a long time dream of mine. The vehicle was clean and comfortable, there were plenty of rest stops to use the facilities and shop and Kirk was very knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend this tour if the topic interests you!

Our tour to Hoover Dam was absolutely AMAZING!! Our guide Kirk was so incredibly knowledgeable and friendly!!!! His helper Dave was so fun with his singing for us Iowans. Would absolutely recommend this tour!!!!

Google
A group of 5 friends and I took the Area 51 tour and had an amazing time! Our tour guide Clayton was amazing. Very friendly, and very well informed on all the local history and details. It was one of the main highlights of our trip to Vegas, and we highly recommend both this tour company and specifically Clayton to anyone looking to get the Area 51 experience.

Google
Michael was an excellent guide for the Area-51 tour! Very knowledgeable and went above and beyond what you would normally expect from a tour guide. Give this guy a raise!!! A+.

We had the pleasure of experiencing the Grand Canyon West rim tour with Michael, our knowledgeable guide. His profound understanding of the Mojave desert, its geological formations, and the diverse plant life enhanced our tour significantly. What set this tour apart was not just the breathtaking sights, but also the educational aspect that Michael brought to the experience. His detailed explanations and insights transformed our journey into a fascinating learning opportunity. Every moment of the tour was filled with awe and wonder, as we explored the majestic landscape and uncovered the secrets of the desert. Michael's enthusiasm and expertise made the experience deeply enriching and memorable. Thank you, Michael, for an amazing adventure. We highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for not just spectacular views, but also an educational and enlightening journey.

Yelp
Just got back from a full day tour that included Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park! Clayton was our tour driver and he was terrifically accommodating for the 13 hours that we spent together. We met 2 delightful couples in our group: A couple from Kentucky (close to our 70 years of age), and a couple from Chicago that were likely in their 30's. The drive was definitely long going and coming, but rest stops were scheduled regularly and Clayton knew exactly where the best restrooms and shops were! It was a gorgeous day. Bryce's temperatures were around in the 70's and Zion was closer to the 80's. The younger couple did a little more hiking and Clayton accompanied them as us older folks enjoyed more view-taking from less strenuous paths. There was an area closed off to traffic that would have given us 3 other stops, but Clayton made do, and took us to other viewing spots. We stopped at Red Canyon as we were heading out of Bryce and it was a good move. Zion was warmer but it offered more areas where our vehicle could pull over for a chance to view beautiful scenery. I think we spent about 2 hours at each park but with the time zone changes, I kept getting confused. We were given a breakfast snack pack and choices of juices. We were offered water and snacks throughout the day. Our provided lunch of Subway Sandwiches were freshly made that morning and hit the spot! Clayton talked a lot, and he's chock-filled with historical information. I fell asleep for a good bit of the drive, so I hope I didn't miss out on too much info. He was very happy that our group wanted to take a group picture together (which I would've posted, but I didn't get permission from the others, so there's just a pic of my husband and I with Clayton).

Yelp
The biggest issue with our tour was our driver Lud... He DID NOT put gas in the truck before we left so we ran out of gas and got stuck on the freeway for an hour... I mean, you'd think a tour guide would remember to fill up his tank before taking 7 people to the Grand Canyon especially where there is no service on half the itinerary?? Thankfully we got stuck on the way back, 30min away from Vegas, but still, that's so unprofessional for a tour company. Adding to the issue, our tour guide did not handle the situation properly. He did not keep us updated on what was going on, he was just awkwardly silent. He did not secure the car and/or his passengers. The only time he talked was to tell us not to get out of the car to go behind the wall -which we did anyway- cause it's so dangerous to stay in a car that's stopped on the side of a freeway. Everybody knows that!! Cherry on the cake, he BARELY apologized about what happened even though it was fully his fault. Anyway, the tour guide lacked professionalism and did not make us feel safe and in good hands. Therefore, I do not recommend this company.

Yelp
The tour to Area 51 was absolutely fantastic! Michael was very professional, knowledgeable, and a fantastic tour guide. I got lots of great pictures and he was nice enough to help take some as well. I would highly recommend this tour.

Yelp
Went on the Area 51 tour with family. My daughter loved it. It was my second time doing this tour. I like they added both gates to the tour. Our vehicle was hit about an hour into the tour, car backed into us. We were able to continue the tour. Fun day at the tour.

Diana C.

Yelp
I took the Area 51 tour and LOVED IT!! The tour guide Clayton was extremely knowledgeable about everything we passed along the way. I learned so much about the desert and Las Vegas. He chatted continuously - so full of great stories!! We went to 2 Area 51 gates (so cool!), had a great lunch at the Aleinn Restaurant, and stopped at a few alien-related spots and shops. I HIGHLY recommend this tour!

Erin M.

Yelp
We went to area 51 in June. Clayton is a knowledgeable and fun tour guide. He made out trip unforgettable. I highly recommend! And don't forget to request Clayton!

Yelp
We took the 6-1 tour to the Grand Canyon. Michael was our tour guide and was very knowledgeable about geology and all the sites we visited. He kept the tour on time and appreciated the effort he put into making it an informative tour. Highly recommend, but it is a long tour, so be prepared for a lot of car time.

Kimberly N.

Yelp
Enjoyed the tour and the drivers were very knowledgeable and friendly. I would love to experience more, just didn't have time.

Yelp
Amazing Christmas experience! My family and I chose the Grand Canyon West Rim + Hoover Dam Small Group Tour and had such a delightful time and unforgettable memories from this experience. Our tour guide, Clayton, was energetic from our initial hotel pickup early in the morning - and was so knowledgeable, sharing endless fun facts about Hoover Dam, Vegas' history, and the Grand Canyon. We even had time to stop by a viewpoint of the beautiful forest of Joshua Trees on our way back. We had a very easygoing overall group - five of us total, including Clayton - and had enjoyed the unbelievable views from the West Rim (which is a lot more close by than our prior South Rim visitation with another tour company, which paled in comparison, as we were in a bus full of 40 people for hours and hours). Not to mention, the food was delicious and plentiful; highly recommend the frybread at Hualapai Point! I highly recommend this experience to any families looking for an unforgettable experience viewing the Grand Canyon. Clayton was superb, and thanks to him, we returned with big smiles, lots of pictures, and so much knowledge of the areas we've visited :) Thankful to Adventure Photo Tours for a very merry Christmas!

Yelp
This was fun! I took my girlfriend for her bday since she is really into this topic. We both had a blast! Dennis was our tour guide and I highly recommend requesting him. He's super fun, has the best jokes, is full of knowledge, takes great pictures, I mean the list goes on and on! He knows all the best locations to take you and gas all the knowledge of things even outside of Area 51. Lunch was really good! Was not expecting it to be a diner so that was a great surprise. The food was really good! We had the Alien burger and the chili cheese dog. They have other options too. They provide a cool guide at the beginning that tells you facts about Area 51, gives you a map of the area you'll be exploring, and has cool random facts about Las Vegas. Dennis also has a cool friend to take a pic with if you're lucky! Definitely would recommend this experience.

Yelp
What a great experience! Art was so knowledgeable about every part of our day long tour to the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam. We learned so much, and the van was extremely comfortable. Everything was on time, well coordinated and, most importantly, fun! I'd highly recommend Adventure Photo Tours!
google avatar

JJ G.

Yelp
have such an amazing time on this tour! I will definitely book another tour on my next trip to Las Vegas, our guide Art was a very nice person, has lots of knowledge of every single place in The Valley of Fire. Thanks ART your amazing!

Yelp
I took the area 51 tour recently with a friend of mine. The tour itself was great and the guide Clayton was personable and friendly. There isn't a lot to be "knowledgeable" about on the subject of area 51 but he was very engaging nonetheless. We didn't see any aliens but saw a lot of scenic Nevada desert. My only concern was that we traveled in a small car with very lax mask rules that don't match Nevada's covid safety rules. Clayton mentioned that he needed to remove his mask so that he could be audible in the back of the car, and while that is fair, I feel that Adventure Photo Tours ought to provide him with the resources to be able to speak clearly (via a microphone/speaker etc) because, for a large portion of the time, all I could focus on was the spittle flying from his mouth as he projected. The other group on this tour were not required to keep their masks on as well and every time the couple I traveled with coughed, I felt my covid anxiety spike. Furthermore, the locations we visited pretty much ignored covid rules and even encouraged us to remove our masks. I understand that this is not under the control of the Adventure Photo Tour company but I feel it necessary to point out for the people who may share the same concerns. Overall, I cannot blame Clayton for the way he operated the tour because I feel that the problem is on an institutional level. The covid protocol ought to be taken far more seriously. I'm not asking for perfect protocol, but simply following state guidelines cannot be too much of an ask.

Yelp
Kirk was a great travel guide. He was very courteous and informative!! Our day started out with him giving us bags with treats, juice, and water. We had an adequate amount of stops, throughout the day, for breaks. Now, about the tour. Our tour of the Grand Canyon was lots of fun and beautiful!! The helicopter ride we had was breathtaking. It was nice that Kirk asked, on the way there, if anyone was vegetarian. I am, so we ate lunch at the one of the two restaurants that had several vegetarian options. Throughout the day, he posed us at several sights, and didn't mind taking our pictures, using our own cameras as well as our own Cellphones. I am really glad Adventure Photo Tours were not crumb bums and insisted the only way to have them help you with your own pictures was to take them themselves and charge you for them. After awhile, we went through and stopped at Hoover Dam. I had no idea of the enormity of this venture before he told us of its history and the fact this was all made with manual labor, no computers, and finished well before it was slated to be completed, not to mention that it goes the length of many, many states!! Boy! Do I recommend this tour? You bet I do!!

Yelp
Elie was absolutely amazing with how he took care of the entire tour group including being a wealth of knowledge and entertaining. This was our honeymoon weekend and the Grand Canyon was on my bucket list. He made it an unforgettable experience! My husband and I will come back and do the South Rim of the Canyon with only him. Amazing tour and guide that we would highly recommend to anyone wanting to experience not only the Grand Canyon but learn the history of Las Vegas! Greatest time and long lasting memories !

Lynne R.

Yelp
tour guides weee very friendly and informative. learned a lot about the area history, plants, and animals. Although very interesting we were expecting more UFO stories on an Area 51 tour. maybe add them to make it more fun. Also people in back of van could not hear anything.

Moncell K.

Yelp
Will, I just called your office and left a message for you to call me back, I'm not your competition but a real customer that had a terrible experience with your company. I've attached my receipt showing proof of service

Yelp
My family and I (4 people) took the "Hoover Dam Tour" from the Elara with Dennis as our tour guide. Outstanding experience. We were picked up in the perfect vehicle (Ford SUV?) for the tour, with excellent air conditioning BTW. Never been to Hoover Dam before, and Dennis made the tour the highlight of our trip to Vegas. Exceptional knowledge of Vegas and the surrounding area's that he generously shared with us. He also went out of his way to be flexible about stopping at cool places like the A&W for an ice cold glass of root beer or a great place to take a family photo! He took care of us like we were his family. I had the pleasure of speaking with Donna (one of the owners along with Will) a number of times on the phone personally in preparation for the trip, and I can tell you these people are exceptional in every way, and who deserve your business. Next time we come to Vegas we will either take the "Area 51" tour or the "Death Valley" tour, we hope with Dennis. (and when it's cooler, like in March). Even if you have your own car, I would suggest taking a tour from APT. If I may make a suggestion to those families, especially with young children. No need to visit "the strip". Instead, take them on tours with APT and allow them to show your family the natural wonders of the area along with its amazing history. Well, that's what I'm going to do anyway. My highest recommendation.

Yelp
Area 51 tour was great and was a bucket item removed from my list. The drive is very long and the tour is not for everyone. Our tour guide/driver, Dennis was great and most definitely knowledgeable about the tour, and said that he loved driving this tour for guests and that this tour was his favorite. Dennis really cares about his guests and it shows!! The A'le'Inn, was a highlight and lunch is included. I love the staff there and in the short time I was at this restaurant/bar, I felt as though I made friends. Bottled Heineken was only four dollars. Where on Earth will you find that? LOL!!! I loved the scenic drive through Nevada. Petroglyphs, Joshua trees, Extraterrestrial Highway, Little A'le'Inn and of course, the border to Area 51, which you will not cross!! Just a very unique tour, that I guarantee not too many people you meet will have experienced for themselves. Not for everyone, but I'm surely pleased that I made the trip.

Jim R.

Yelp
we took the area 51 tour. The trip was good but Dennis made it great. He was our guide, driver, and friend for 10 hours. that seems like a long time to be in the back of a van in the most desolate place in the US. He knew so much about what seems to be so little in the Las Vegas area. this tour is Highly Recommended! ask for Dennis.

Yelp
We come to Vegas a lot and wanted a unique experience and found it with this Area51 tour! Our tour guide was Ken S and he did an awesome job telling us the history of the area, keeping us all engaged and entertained in the 2+ hours drive there and then back. A long day, but the time past quickly. On the way back we bought a souvenir magnet...'I survived Area51', it expressed our thoughts completely. An added bonus was the drive on the dried lake bed; a unique experience and glad the conditions allowed for it today. The unexpected bonus was three jets flying directly over us!! I booked online, the entire process was easy. They called and texted me the day before to confirm. The pickup was from the hotel (off strip) and guide was on time and courteous. Thank you Adventure Photo Tours and Ken for a memorable day.

Tiffany E.

Yelp
No COVID protocols followed - not only did the driver not wear a mask but also told other passengers that they only need to wear a mask if asked. Lunch was at Grand Canyon observation deck restaurant with other passengers without social distancing. Not much time spent at any of the sites because driver was concerned about getting to each stop 1st. Long day trip with driver commentary on how he would fix the issues with America and that Gov Abbott and former president trump were great Americans - find another tour agency to use, my son and I wore our masks the whole time because I had prepaid but I was annoyed by the lack of safety protocols for COVID.

Yelp
Our tour from Los Vegas to Hollywood and Los Angeles was an amazing experience. This tour provided everything it advertises. Our tour guide Clayton was so knowledgeable about our surroundings and so pleasant to be with. This tour took us through Death Valley and on through the Joshua Forrest. The view of the mountains were amazing. Although the tour was 14 hours Clayton kept us interested in the sights we saw. Once in Hollywood, we were given plenty of time to explore. It was very exciting and enjoyable. We would like to thank Clayton for sharing this tour with us. We highly recommend Clayton as your tour guide. The food that was provided was better than we expected. All in all this tour was great and we thank Adventure Photo Tours for such a special experience.

Sondra S.

Yelp
Our group of 11 had an EXCELLENT time on this private tour! We were able to get an early start @ 7:30am so that we could make it back in time for our afternoon flight. Our guide, Jim did an extraordinary job giving us details about Boulder City, the Dam, Arizona border, and other sites throughout our adventure. We learned a lot from his narrative! He stopped at picturesque points to take photos and walk around and we also enjoyed hanging out by the big horn sheep at Hemenway Park. We highly recommend Adventure Photo Tours to everyone!

Yelp
My wife & I booked a trip to Los Angeles with adventure tours and we had a blast experiencing California for the 1st time. Our driver Dennis was brilliant in driving us there & back, he was very knowledgeable about his surroundings in the area & I strongly recommend him. The food provided was better compared to other tours we had & we also took frequent breaks to use restrooms & get food out of the store. My cons with the trip is the fact the you spend 75% of the trip in the car. Between Santa Monica beach, Hollywood & Beverly Hills you're giving about 2-1/2 to 3hrs to explore on your own. It took about 4-5 hrs to get to L.A. & the same with returning. My advice for those who are considering coming to L.A. to experience it more than 3hrs would be to fly there on your own or rent a car.

Yippie Y.

Yelp
Our tour guide Paul is very professional, he is very knowledgeable about the area from all kinds of plants to geology to the local demographics. He drove from morning at 6am till 8pm. The views at Zion and Bryce is amazing. It is a very long day and many hours in the car.

Howard W.

Yelp
We were in the van with another couple that we did not know. We took the 6 in 1 Grand Canyon tour. We all thought we were taking a helicopter ride over to the Canyon but no it is a 2.5 hr. one way trip in an expedition. We spent more time learning about plants than anything. The Hoover Dam stop is good but you do not get to walkover it. It is just a ten minute photo stop. The helicopter ride down the Grand Canyon was good but other than that it was a horrible trip. The other couple that was in the van with us even got out at our hotel because they couldn't stand being in the SUV another minute. I do not recommend this trip at all!!! So sad!!!

Markus O.

Yelp
I had booked two tours. The Zion/Bryce Canyon National Park tour was canceled due to a fire or I was offered to only go to Zion National Park. The other tour was the "Grand Canyon 6-in-1 Tour". The accompanying helicopter flight into the Grand Canyon was impressive. Having said that this was my first flight in a helicopter and I had concerns about nausea but it's like flying an airplane. Our tour guide was exceptional. You could tell he loved his job. He gave so much information that I did not get on any of my other tours. The tour also included a stop at the Hoover Dam. A few days earlier, I took a tour with another company that went exclusively to the Hoover Dam. I didn't get as much information here, there were fewer stops at the viewpoints (so you saw less) and it felt like the tour guide and bus driver wanted to get home as early as possible. Therefore, I highly recommend the "Grand Canyon 6-in-1 Tour" by "Adventure Photo Tours", but I strongly encourage everyone to take the helicopter flight option, even if the tour costs more in this case. https://www.instagram.com/___orti___/ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWkszeY3-Ure6AwMje0IlNQ/videos https://www.tiktok.com/@markus_ortmann?lang=de-DE

Yelp
We spent the day with Clayton on the Zion National Park tour. Clayton was friendly, fun and knowledgeable about the park and places we passed along the way. Highly recommend!

Yelp
My husband and I took the tour from Vegas to the Grand Canyon with a stop over at hoover dam. Our guide at hoover dam was good but, the tour guide to the Grand Canyon was an acquired sense of personality. He was more of a bus driver than a tour guide, you're better off renting a vehicle than paying for this. The only thing redeeming was the lunches that were provided. I recommend the Bobbie, Thanksgiving Dinner in a sandwich.

Michelle B.

Yelp
Perfection from beginning to end. An excellent driver and tour guide-Eli. He was very knowledgable in every aspect of our tour, accommodations of the tour and ride. He was extremely friendly and helpful. We were given a great breakfast and tons of snacks and snack options and water!! He constantly offered snacks, water and most importantly bathroom breaks when needed not just the scheduled stops. So awesome you won't get this service anywhere else!! The destinations were amazing and well timed out with plenty of opportunities to walk, take photos and learn about what you are seeing!!! We love that it was a smaller van not one of those large over crowded buses with only 1 bathroom. He helps you I. And out of the van. A very clean van. Very comfortable and excellent views from the drive. Thanks Eli and Adventure Tiurs for an incredible trip m. Also, thank you for going above and beyond getting us on The last minute helicopter ride at an incredible price. That ride totally made our trip!! We will definitely be recommending Adventure Tours!

Judy M.

Yelp
Excellent my sister and I we have a great time enjoying the mountains and the conversation with the tour guy

Yelp
Just got back from the 6-1 tour of the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam. Our guide was Clayton ... loved him (and he has my son's name). He was not only humorous (which makes the tour go more smoothly); but knowledgeable. He and couple we were traveling with (from the U.K.) made this day memorable! The pilot, Aaron, was also fun and the helicopter ride through the canyon was incredible! We loved eating our lunch with Clay because he was so personable!

Yelp
We took the Area 51 tour, the drive is the toughest part of our tour because it was so long. I think we spend more time driving and maybe 3 whole hours outside of the car. We started off and our tour guide went over all the facts of Las Vegas we first stop at an airport there in Vegas where suppose employees of Area 51 work kind of like a private airport and after about 3 hours we stopped at a gas station to stretch then 30 mins later we were taken to dry lake which was cool and and we got to take pictures as well then we probably drove another 2 hours or so and took pictures by the alien highway signs and our tour guide was pretty nice he kept on trying to take the best pictures and gave us an alien head prop to hold for our pics after some more driving we came to alien restaurant in Rachel town and the restaurant food was not that great pretty simple sandwiches which was okay I guess because it was included in the cost that we paid and it included water bottle and cheese crackers for snacking on. The best part of the tour was seeing the restaurant and taking pictures because they filmed movies there and seeing the pictures that others captured of sightings and after some more driving we went to Area 51 entrance took some pics and didn't see much except because we couldn't enter and after a bit more driving we went to another shop which was nice because we got to buy soveniers, overall it was okay because it gave us something to do in the day time. The only thing that really bothered me was our tour guide he drive awful and kept on speeding at one point he was driving 95mph which made me feel uneasy.

Yelp
I booked a tour with Adventure Photo Tours through LasVegas.com. Because LasVegas.com is the reseller, I was not aware at the time that the company providing the service was Adventure Photo Tours. I booked the "Grand Canyon VIP Mini Coach Tour" with LasVegas.com for roughly $180. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised with the trip. The bus was fitted with very comfortable seats, which reclined back and seats moved from side to side for more space. I liked the fact that it was a small bus, about 20 seats (I think)? The morning started at 6am pickup from the hotel. Drop-off was back at the hotel around 8:30pm (which may be longer or shorter depending on the traffic). We were fed some muffins, peanuts, granola bars, & juice for breakfast & snacks. Lunch was also provided. It was a sandwich (ham, turkey, or vegetarian), apple, chips, and water. The tour bus made several stops for restrooms breaks. When we arrived at Grand Canyon (South Rim), the guide/driver (Dan) spoke to each party individually on the route that they would be taking at Grand Canyon. Parties can walk the 2.5 miles, walk partial and take bus, or just fully take the bus. The only requirement was that we had to be back on the tour bus in 2 hours. Some of the bonuses on the tour, we made stops at Hoover Dam and Historic Route 66. On the ride back, we made several bathroom stops but also made a stop at a local gift shop (@ Double Eagle Trading Company). They had some pretty neat things in there to buy. Some of the other additional things that the tour company had was as much water as you like. They also had hand sanitizer, sunscreen, or ginger root (for nausea). When we arrived at the Grand Canyon South Rim, the driver also asked if we needed jackets since we were so high up in elevation. The driver was also the guide. He was very knowledgeable, and spoke to us on a lot of the history as we were passing certain areas. It was an awesome experience. The driver, Dan, also told us that Adventure Photo Tours is a family owned business. I would definitely return back to this company for tours again. They provide good service with personal attention. Thank you. Better Business Bureau Rating: http://www.vegasbbb.org/bbb_rated_acc_rpt.asp?bbbid=55707&tr=rated&lg=A%2B&ex=

Yelp
Yeah, it's $195 per person, but this will be as close as you can possibly get to the forbidden, high-security, ultra-protected home of actual aliens and their spaceships which have long been buried underground here outside of Las Vegas. This is the tour where you will hear tour guide Tim speak of the two friends of his who actually made it over the Area 51 fencing and began to roam the area on foot, only to be stopped dead in their tracks by two MEN IN BLACK who had been TELEPORTED out of nowhere to arrest & detain them for trespassing on gov't property. Here on this tour, you will begin to make sense of the inter-relationships between this mysterious dry lake where sightings of UFO's have been observed and nearby Ancient Indian Petroglyphs at the Valley of Fire that resemble Aliens! Also visit Little A'le' Inn-where numerous documentaries and movies including "Independence Day" have been filmed." After the tour stops to enjoy an Alien Burger at the Little A'le' Inn, next up is the location of the infamous "Black Mailbox," where numerous ET sightings have occurred and then to the absolute perimeter of Area 51 through a strange and deformed-(from ET radiation) Joshua Tree Forest. This will blow your mind! There are guards (The Men In Black), detection devices, motion sensors, listening devices and cameras mounted among the cactus. The signs outside of Area 51 read, "The Use of Deadly force Authorized" and you can be sure they mean it. It's fun to wave at the heavily armed guards in the 4x4 parked on the desert hillside but they don't wave back, they just watch from behind their darkened windows-ready to pounce on you should you penetrate their perimeter. As much as the United States Air Force has denied the existence of Area 51, we know it is there but no one knows what it is they do there. This is how you can find out! Remember-NO PICTURE TAKING ALLOWED! This is an Extreme tour to the world's most top secret military facility, the real home of the X files! Not to be missed! Any UFO fan worth their alien authenticity needs to make sure to get on this tour and check Area 51 out! The Area 51 Tour is a full day sightseeing tour that lasts approximately 8 hours and the van picks you up at your hotel around 7:00 a.m. It is scheduled to operate on Wednesday only , but as long as there are 4 or more combined people up for some extra terrestrial stalking, the tour can go out. Las Vegas is full of weird people and otherworldly adventures-but the REAL FUN is right outside Sin City-at Area 51-where Uncle Sam is hiding SECRETS so crazy, that they remain locked away underground, so as not to alarm the public!

Yelp
We took the tour to the Grand Canyon that stopped at the Hoover Dam and along Route 66 on the way. Bob was our tour guide and he was great! He was very funny. He also gave us some history and interesting info about the places we drove through, and pointed out things a long the way (like Venus!). We had plenty of time at the Grand Canyon and Bob told us about the different trails and places we could visit. It was a long drive, but the stops and info along the way made it interesting. We had a great time!

Yelp
Zion and Bryce Canyons small group tour from LV. Very well done 15 hr day tour to 2 National Parks with plenty of time to take photos in several locations in each park. Food and drinks and plenty of rest stops provided. Guide ( Linda) was great- funny and well organized. Scenery is amazing. So nice when someone else is doing the driving and organizing! Highly recommend.

Yelp
My wife and I were in Vegas for our honeymoon and received the Area 51 tour as a wedding gift. We met up with our guide, Adam, at 7am at the Excalibur. We picked up two other people close by and were off to our first stop, close by at the airport, the Janet area. This was interesting but pretty brief. Then we headed out of Vegas into the desert. Adam was awesome and talked the whole time about cool things relating to Area 51 and general Vegas knowledge that your average visitor probably doesn't know. We turned off the highway in the middle of nowhere and visited a huge dry Lake that was awesome and we also saw petroglyphs! We made several more stops but the best was actually visiting the Area 51 gate and seeing the guys in the White trucks watching us! It was a great day and Adam was awesome! I highly recommend!

Yelp
Ultimate Hoover Dam Tour Been to the dam 8 years ago and the actual place and facilities have improved since then. The APT tour coach was on time and the driver/guide (Scott) was pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful. However, the major problem with this tour is the time allocated at the dam itself. Fitting in the official tour with the generator room and everything else you really should see is just not possible in the time they give you. They gave us about 1 1/2 hours, which sounds plenty but, the official tour lasts about 1hr (short film, waiting, walking, elevators, guide discussions etc.). This leaves about 30mins for EVERYTHING else!. Just not enough time. If you want a whistlestop dam tour just seeing the official tour and taking a few snaps then this tour is OK. If you want enough time to see and do everything (look at other exhibits, fantastic photo and video places/shots, walk across the dam itself, gift shopping, perhaps a bite to eat) then you need to do a different tour and NOT this one. I must stress that it was not the driver/guides fault as he is obviously following a preset schedule. APT is a good company and I have been on about 9 or 10 different tours with them but this specific tour needs changing to deliver what the paying tourists expect.

Yelp
Tour guide Chris made the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam tour great. He has adopted Vegas as home and was very personable. Great Job. PS- spend the $$ on the helicopter ride to the bottom of the canyon.... it's amazing

Yelp
We took the 5-1 Grand Canyon tour and it was excellent. The ride was comfortable. Peter, our guide and driver was very informative and since we were ahead of schedule, made an impressive extra stop that was fascinating.

Yelp
My children and I took the Grand Canyon 6 in 1 tour from Las Vegas . We had a lot of fun! Our guide Scott was friendly and very informative. We got picked up at 7:15 am and dropped off back to out hotel around 7pm. The Grand Canyon was amazing ! And we also did the helicopter tour to the bottom of the canyon . I bought a deal from Travelzoo. It takes $50 off the regular price. Hey any little discount helps since I was paying for 3 people. I'd definitely recommend this tour and I'd like to take other tours they have to offer if I'm back in Vegas sometime.

Yelp
Our family booked a private tour and the entire experience was absolutely unbelievable. Konoa was an amazing guide and driver! Right away, he was very attentive to our comfort and needs as we traveled to (and from) our destinations. He made sure we had plenty of snacks, water, and stopped for plenty of restroom and AC breaks. He immediately got to know us individually and learned our group dynamic as well. and made us very comfortable for our entire tour. Konoa was very funny, entertaining, and kept us laughing the entire ride, I can't say there was ever a dull moment. However, he was not just entertaining, he was also a wealth of knowledge. His knowledge regarding the history of each location was top notch and his 30+ years of experience being a tour guide really shined the entire trip. A big thank you to Konoa for making our trip so memorable, we would recommend this tour and this tour guide to anyone!

Yelp
We took the Grand Canyon south rim tour and it was wonderful. Our guide Barry arrived right on time and made the trip delightful. He struck the right balance of conversation and down time as we made our way first to Hoover Dam, then to Route 66 and finally to the Grand Canyon. He helped us choose the right hike length for our group and then took great care of us on the way back to our hotel. Also picnic breakfasts and lunches were just the right size and accommodated our son's need for gluten free meals.

Yelp
description was not that accurate. There was no mention that we would be forced to watch movies (westerns!) on the way there and back, there was no continental breakfast or unlimited snacks. The trip included the guide talking about places that were not in view, or how close they were he had no intention on driving by. Basically you pay $199 for a 14 hour day in the van with 55 minutes at the beach and 1 hour and 20 mins in Hollywood, and a lunch. Renting a car and going along would be my choice if had to do it again. Not a very fun day!

Yelp
Booked a Zion tour with this outfit. Although the tour was good and my fiance enjoyed talking photography shop with the guide, honestly Zion doesn't need a guide. They shuttle you from Vegas to the gates of Zion and set you free because the park doesn't allow for outside guides. Why then are you paying a guide to drive you out? Got me... yeah there is some bits of info and such, but not really enough to make it worth it to me. For $200 pp and 2 of us ($400), we honestly should have just rented a car but I didn't know and thought something would be added to experience. Sadly it wasn't a good bet. They have lots of other tours and maybe it's a bit different but Zion is a pointless tour experience but still a beautiful place still worth visiting! Something I really disliked about this tour was the breakfast stop at McDonalds... only slightly classier than stopping at a casino dumpster hoping to find buffet leftovers or something. If I had known this I would have packed a breakfast with me.

Yelp
Went on a tour to Hollywood. Dennis our tour driver was very entertaining and knowledgeable. The van was very comfortable. We received a snack type breakfast w/ juice and a lunch, and unlimited water. We had never been to CA so this was a real treat. We stopped a couple of times for potty breaks. Long drive but worth it. Great tour company!

Yelp
Great tour! Easy to schedule and very enjoyable! Worth every penny...Kevin our Tour Guide is one of the best! If you get a chance do it! I really, really recommend it! It was long, but you won't get tired or bored, so much to see and very informative...very small but I think it's better that way. Two thumbs up.
