Amorgos has given all we had hoped for and more, I m torn between keeping it a secret and sharing the amazing people and location! We didn’t actually stay at the hotel we stayed at one of its other properties (SeaRock - reviewed separately) but this gave us access to the hotel. This is a lovely hotel in an already peaceful and perfect location, the hotel overlooks Aegiali town where there are shops, restaurants, supermarket, and beach. We hired a car and we used Evdokia and would again Giannis was extremely helpful with 5* service. |So I can’t comment on the hotel accommodation but we ate breakfast here most days, there was a lovely selection served by very helpful staff. A particular mention for Poppy and Arta who made us feel like friends, and were always on hand for banter and for local knowledge, not to forget George and his fabulous coffee making skills. | We were able to use the amazing facilities - pool, spa, gym etc and were privileged to witness the family run ethos, and how Irene and Stamatis and all the family are always visible, approachable and helpful. A transfer from Katapola was also provided (30 min drive away) as most of the ferries arrive in Katapola although some do arrive in Aegialis. We are really pleased we chose to stay at this end of the island. Chora town between the two ports is lovely and worth a visit. The small villages close by Tholaria, and Lagada are definitely worth visiting, both have their own authentic and lovely restaurants. We were lucky enough to be here festival time in Tholaria and witness the locals including the hotel family owners, come together in celebration. We weren’t at the hotel for one of the yoga retreats but the guests were a mix of yoga retreat groups and holidaymakers such as us. If you are not there for the extensive yoga programme the hotel hosts I would recommend a car Amorgos deserves to be seen, we love it and we will be back.
