Best little bookstore. Curated impeccably. Actually nice staff.

Perfectly fine, quaint bookstore. Very niche selection of books, so it might be worth it to call ahead and see if they have something specific that you want. However due to the niche nature of the books, you need to do research on the titles you're looking for and what a reasonable cost for them might be.

One of I think only two bookstores I bother popping into literally every time I'm in their respective areas. If your taste is anything like mine, you're guaranteed to find at least one incredible and very affordable book every time you walk in here, with plenty more perhaps less affordable (but still worth it) mouth watering things to tempt you. Whether your thing is literature, poetry, philosophy, mysticism, music, the avant-garde, or... mushrooms, Aeon is sure to satisfy your mind, your body, and your soul. Owner is very knowledgeable, opinionated in the way you want an intelligent bookseller to be, pays fairly for used books, and treats people from all backgrounds with respect. Respect.

I just completed my first purchase from Aeon Bookstore: three scarce, decades-old, literary journals. Aeon's owner shipped them immediately upon receiving the order in many layers of bubble-wrap protection. When I unwrapped them, it was gratifying to see that the conditions of all three journals were exactly as Aeon had conscientiously described them in his listing. I could not have been more pleased.

A true sanctuary in the city! The books are thoughtfully curated and include a wide variety of genres. Cool selection of records too. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable with great recommendations. I'm always learning about something new and unexpected!

Wow- I haven't even gone in yet but I think I'm gonna be a repeat customer. I have been searching for a book and saw that they had one as part of a set- called them to see about purchasing the one book and they went beyond! They were knowledgable, kind, explained to me what I needed to know, and even gave me pointers for my search. Did I just go back in time to the NYC that I love and miss? Yes. Yes I did.

I love this place. I always find hidden gems and great books for me or for gifts. The workers are very knowledgeable and kind: they let you peruse in peace but also quick to help if you have a question.

Best bookstore in all of NYC. Highly curated selection of books. Art, literature, philosophy, small press, etc. Good music too. They buy used books and records. This bookstore is on regular rotation, a must-stop if I'm in this part of Chinatown. I like to have lunch in the neighborhood, buy a few things at Aeon, then hit the East Broadway mall under the Manhattan Bridge down the street where James Veloria is.

So excellent that I kind of want to move in there. It has that secret vibe, and the store is beautifully curated. And vinyl as well. The store takes no prisoners so fall in love here and likely you will find that Surrealist anti-classic as well.

Found some christmas gifts here! I do recommend it, but it is a bit overpriced depending on the book. I love that they are all used

It's hard to beat a basement bookstore on the edge of Chinatown with an excellent selection of books, a welcoming atmosphere, and reasonable prices. Only open for a week now, the energy and thoughtfully curated selection of books is already clearly on point. It will be really exciting to see how the feeling of the space evolves as it settles into its space in the community and events and programming define further what kind of a role this bookstore will play in the literary culture of the city. This is already a great place to find your next book to read.

Aeon Bookstore provides excellent service for out-of-state online customers. Called store with questions about rare book needed ASAP, was referred to owner Josiah who answered my email within the hour, and then he went out of his way to ship the book the very next day (Friday) and it arrived Monday. Truly amazing!!

Zoey was very kind and helpful. She entertained my relentless questioning with a smile and genuine enthusiasm at her work. Also an amazing DJ that filled the room with delightful reggae. Would definitely recommend this bookstore which seems to have something for everyone

This is a GREAT bookstore, with all kinds of treasures, both hard to find and ones that will entice you that you did not know you wanted to read. One of the Owners, Karl, used to work at Skylight in Los Angeles andI found him to be a superb book group leader (we read Pynchon, Gaddis,Knausegaard, Ferrante, Renate Adler, Gass , Joyce)who can get you thru the most DIFICULT of books with ease and you leave feeling as if you've connected with someone who loves books and understands how to impart that to his customers. There is a new book group now coming out of AEON and would recommend ANYTHING that Karl Bauer is discussing even if you think it is not the kind of thing you might want to read. They also carry best sellers and are enlarging their children's section, where they carry books in ENGLISH and CHINESE!!! Since the bookstore is located in what is fast becoming a VERY HIPneighborhood in the heart of 'old' chinatown. Go AEON!! Remember the turning of pages in a book is much more fun and satisfying that reading on the INTERNET (if you ask me). And they carry both 'used treasures' which are unique and really reflect taste , but they also carry NEW BOOKS and the atmosphere is that of a "TRUE BOOKstore"

So great to see a new used bookstore in this location. In addition to a careful and thoughtfully chosen selection of books, the service is excellent and the atmosphere warm and friendly. The musical offerings and readings will help turn Aeon into a neighborhood destination, and a place for community folks to gather. Highly recommend stopping in!
