I wish I could give 10 stars! We had a wonderful experience. Beth, the owner, was wonderful, and Kevin and Steve (their pet birds) were such a joy to watch and listen to. The breakfast was amazing, and she accommodated our special diet request. The location is wonderful - you can walk to quaint restaurants and bars, yet it's very quiet. We stayed in the "duck in" room, and it was super clean, and the bed was comfortable. We will definitely be returning here soon!

My partner and I love history ! For a perfect couples getaway or ladies weekend ! The service is top notch. The owners have a passion for their place and it shows ! There is 24/7 drinks and snacks. Breakfast is included and it’s so fresh and delicious. The place is unique and peaceful with a relaxing fire pit , porch , and pergola with a fan! You must stay here … the owner gave us a champagne treat on the house , we are so very appreciative of our couple time away from the kids!!! Thank you …

Stayed here for our anniversary and it was an awesome experience. The hosts are great! They started out the day by giving us a mini champagne bottle at check in and it was on the house! They provide free drinks and snacks in their common room where Steve and Kevin are on guard. (their pet birds) Very pleasant people! We stayed in the hidden room and it was great. We loved that it was kind of tucked away with its own access from the outside (just in case you wanted to have a late night and not disturb anyone in the main part of the house). Loved how close it was to all the shops and places to eat! (everything was within walking distance) The breakfast in the morning was delicious as well. We loved this bed and breakfast and would come back again! 10/10

Recently spent 3 nights here on vacation. The hosts, Beth and John, were lovely. The food was amazing— this place is worth it for the breakfast alone! The room was comfortable and quiet. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a great place to stay in New Bern.

We had the absolute best experience at The Aerie Bed & Breakfast in New Bern! Every inch of the property, inside and out, is just stunning — you can truly feel how much heart and soul the innkeepers have poured into making it such a special place. The rooms are gorgeous, spotless, and full of thoughtful little touches that made our stay extra comfortable. The food was absolutely amazing — you can tell they really care about every detail. From start to finish, everything was perfect. We can’t recommend The Aerie enough — it’s truly a gem and we’re already looking forward to coming back!

What an amazingly pleasant place!!! Beth welcomed us like we were old friends into her old Victorian home with all the modern amenities. We had a romantic nights stay in the upstairs Kennebec room complete with a jacuzzi tub, terry cloth robes and large, comfortable bed. There's a fridge downstairs in the sun room with the 2 friendly cockatiels watching over the activities. 24 hour coffee bar, water, Pepsi, ice and snacks. The breakfast room is very pleasant and Beth makes a beautiful plate of food with dietary restrictions taken into consideration. All in all a wonderful experience. We were lucky enough to have the whole house to ourselves, so keep that in mind if you want a more peaceful experience. Thanks again Beth and John for the wonderful hospitality!!!

We stayed here for a quick overnight getaway. The hosts were super welcoming and communicative, and they did a great job of making sure we had everything we needed. The house is such a beautiful place, and it was very quiet and peaceful. I would definitely try to stay here again the next time I'm in New Bern!

Amazing experience! House and rooms were very cute & clean. Delicious breakfast. Perfect location to walk downtown for food and entertainment. The owner even set up a couples massage for us in our room. Will definitely book again!

Yelp
This place has so much character and it is so super cute. First of all I would like to say that the owners are so sweet. They were putting up the Christmas decorations and everything looked so festive and lovely. The room we were in was warm and cozy and it had that old fashioned charm. The house itself was built in 1882. It is close to downtown so park your car and go for a nice stroll. The owners did a wonderful job with the inside and the outside. I definitely would stay here again. The food was delicious and they were so hospitable. I am going to tell everyone about our stay. If you're lucky you'll see some nice shiny pennies lying around.

Yelp
We had a wonderful stay. New Bern is the cutest little town. The location is prefect. We walked everywhere we went. Breakfast was yummy. Kathy and all the staff were wonderful and made us feel right at home. My only complaint would be the light shining through the windows at night, but I would definitely stay here again.

Rachel M.

Yelp
We just got back from a wonderful stay at The Aerie! I can't say enough good things. Beautiful property and wonderful service. The breakfast is also 10/10! If you're looking for a charming place to stay to give you the full New Bern vibe-this would be it!

Yelp
An absolutely amazing stay!!! The inn is beautifully kept, and the owners are extremely kind and accommodating. Everyone needs to stay here.

Melissa G.

Yelp
Beautifully decorated with so many nice touches for their guests such as water and snacks, and 5:00 wine. The rooms are beautiful and the bed was divine. We liked that this B and B wasn't right beside all the others. It's close to downtown and the breweries.

Yelp
Fantastic Great Service,Very Clean, Great Location and comfortable .. Breakfast is bon appiattito... Tess and James

Yelp
Just had a wonderful one night stay in the Hidden suite. It has its own private entrance off the back of the Inn. The room was so quiet and we felt like the only guests. There are a lot of stairs to climb up, so be aware. The suite was beautiful and tastefully decorated. The king sized bed was very comfortable and the linens were like butter! We overslept and missed breakfast, but a good nights sleep was well worth it. Lots of outdoor areas to unwind. Will definitely stay here again.

Aimee N.

Yelp
I would stay here every night if I could. I had the King George Suite and I loved every detail of the room. The mixture between modern amenities and Victorian window treatments and decor were in perfect harmony. The owners were lovely! I spent a good amount of time speaking with Beth and she is amazing! Her husband can sure cook, too! My breakfast was 5 star! The bed was one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. I think it was the perfect pillows and the bedding they chose. Complete luxury. The bathroom in this particular suite was beautiful. The stain glass window about the tub was so relaxing and beautiful. I highly recommend this place! This has been my favorite bed and breakfast ever. Also, the social hour wine and cheese were the perfect touch

Yelp
Happy to have gotten a room at The Aerie - and with our dog Rosa (they take pets!). As soon as you arrive, you're welcomed by the charm of this historic 1880 home with its thick wood moldings and original glass windows. Our bed was so luxurious, we overslept almost every morning. The service was perfect and the breakfast was a wonderful way to start the day. The owners, John and Beth, had recently updated the dining and the living rooms - and they're beautiful. My husband and I enjoyed talking with other guests and sitting around the firepit in the evening. We've never been to New Bern before but loved our morning walks around the waterfront, dinners at The Chelsea, Cypress Hall and Persimmons (all delish), the lovely shops - and the historical walking tour. Excited to return in the fall!

Yelp
I LOVE THIS PLACE! Beth and her husband have made a beautiful bed and breakfast inn that feels like a mixture of both modern and vintage. Everything about the place is beautiful. Our stay here was amazing and we definitely felt cared for and taken care of. From the minute I walked in the door Beth was so eager to help and make my stay at New Bern great. She recommend many nearby restaurants, offered help with my luggage, gave me and endless amount of compliments that flattered me, and was just all around a lovely person. The room was extremely beautiful (Caroline suite) and BIG. The amount of space and the interior was beautifully done. The king size bed felt so nice and comfortable, the bathtub was very relaxing and I couldn't believe how central the location of the bed and breakfast was to everything around. Our breakfast was amazing! The servers and housekeeping are super friendly and catering. We truly had an amazing time and we look forward to staying there again in the next couple months.

Yelp
My husband and I had to make last minute changes to our anniversary plans. We decided to visit New Bern for a quick trip. We discovered The Aerie and fortunately they had a room for us that was beautiful. John and Beth have done a wonderful job with this iconic landmark just a short walk to the heart of downtown. The thoughtful details, the staff and the breakfast were all 5 star. The best recommendation we can give is we hope to meet you when we book our next visit!

Martin C.

Yelp
Really nice B&B in a great location just a short walk to the town Center. The hosts, John and Beth, were very welcoming and the facilities were first class. In many respects it felt that we were staying in a top class boutique hotel. Would thoroughly recommend.

Kim S.

Yelp
This is the Best bed and breakfast ever! We have been coming here for over 12 years. This was our 9th stay, we love it so much. Luxurious beds, delicious breakfast and amazing In-keepers. They make you feel like family. Within walking distance to down town New Bern. We love this place!

Amy R.

Yelp
This was our first experience with a bed and breakfast. Would recommend again and again! We loved the old world charm and decor of the home. The staff was amazing and went above and beyond to make our experience one of a kind. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
I wish I could give The Aerie more than five stars. Our long weekend there was amazing. John and Beth are great hosts and they've done a wonderful job renovating the inn. The sitting area is very comfortable, the have complementary water, sodas, snacks and wine. We stayed in the spacious Caleb Bradham suite located in the Guest House. Beautiful room with hands down the most comfortable bed we've ever slept in. Breakfast each morning was delicious and they graciously accommodated some food preferences we had. We didn't have an addenda of things we wanted to see and do when we arrived but John and Beth made lots of suggestions and we filled our weekend learning about the local history and walking along the waterfront. The inn is located within walking distance of the historical society, restaurants, river walk, breweries and lots more. If you are looking for a relaxing and comfortable place to stay, choose the The Aerie.

Yelp
What a lovely experience! My husband and I were looking for a quick getaway with the only parameters being, someplace we had never been before and in the great state of North Carolina. After a brief internet search, we found The Aerie Bed and Breakfast in New Bern, NC. If you've not been to New Bern, NC, or like us, hadn't even realized it existed, you're in for a treat! The town is small enough you can park the car and enjoy brief walks to almost any venue. There are multiple delicious restaurants and live music bars around the quaint town center. There are also shops offering local artwork, clothing boutiques and, of course, ice creams and handmade fudge. The jewel in the crown for us, however, was our stay at The Aerie. We enjoyed the private room with eleven foot ceilings and updated bathroom. It was comfortable and quiet. They offered complimentary bottles of water, carbonated drinks, coffee and teas as well as delicious, freshly made baked goods. (These were NOT from a box...think mom's cookies.) The proprietors, Dina and Keith, were terrific hosts. If you are people/people like we are, the wine and cheese social at 5:00 every afternoon is a fun way to meet others looking for an unique and non-traditional overnight experience. We met people we felt we'd known forever. If you prefer solitude, The Aerie was large enough with comfortable private areas that you did not have to be social if you'd prefer. The grounds were beautiful with plants and seating areas tended to by Keith himself. The venue also offers an event center and additional rooms all conveniently located in the same block. My husband and I highly recommend The Aerie for your next quick getaway. We will surely be back.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights while he had some business to attend in New Bern. We stayed in the Carolina Room on the first floor - it is flled with beautiful antiques and one of the most comfortable beds I have ever experienced! Marty and Michael are perfect hosts, and the breakfasts are scrumptious! Will definitely stay here again!

Emily A.

Yelp
Stayed here two nights over New Year's weekend and we were truly pampered. My hubby surprised me with bringing me here and the owners are so kind. The bed had the feeling of floating on a cloud, the shower had full body jets (who knew that was even possible) and the breakfast was seriously the best we have had at a B&B! The free wine each night was a nice touch and the collection of movies they had made our evenings fun and relaxing. They have partnerships with many local restaurants and will be glad to make reservations or recommendations for you, which was very nice. Everything in downtown New Bern is walkable, so enjoy your stay and be sure to get out and find all the bears that you can! They're so unique and fun!

Emily T.

Yelp
Beth and John were amazing hosts, we loved our room and the breakfast was delicious!! We will be back!

Yelp
I can't say enough about Aerie. Spent 3 absolutely wonderful days there. The room was so comfortable it was just fantastic! It's close to downtown and the wonderful shops there. Due to covid there weren't many open but it was a great stroll. Now the best part the owners are so accommodating and it was truly a pleasure to get to know them. The breakfast ...phenomenal doesn't even describe how great it was. I wish I could just pop in for breakfast!! Stay there!! You won't regret it!!

Terry R.

Yelp
Stayed here from the 28th of May until the 31st. Just outstanding. Place is in a perfect location in relation to downtown. Very quite. Room was spacious and very clean. Carolina suite on the ground floor was perfect for us. Jessie who checked us in could not have been nicer or more professional. Not only recommended restaurants but made reservations for us as well. Would never hesitate to stay here.

Yelp
Just returned from another stay at the Aerie Inn, only this time with new owners in place. Beth and John (new owners) were a delight to talk to and John really knows his way around the kitchen. The updating to the Inn that they are doing is really looking good, can't wait to see the finish product on our next visit to the Aerie. Beth also went out of her way to mail back my hat that I left my mistake in our room. It arrived and I was really appreciative of this. Highly recommend.

Bob C.

Yelp
Had a great experience at the Aerie. John and Beth have done a great job in improving the house while retaining the antique charm. The place is in the middle of the New Bern historic district and close to boutique shopping and dinning. Plenty of amenities and a nice morning breakfast.

Ej C.

Yelp
Place was not too bad, clean and safe. Owners are a bit rude. They were aware of our situation before hand. Took our money then after decided to complain about our situation and shift all our plans

Janis H.

Yelp
My husband and I recently spent a couple of nights at The Aerie to participate in MumFest activities. The inn is conveniently located in the downtown area, so it was quite easy for us to walk to MumFest. There were many things we enjoyed about this inn including the friendly staff, the comfortable beds, and the variety K-Cup flavors available to guests. There were, however, some things that needed improvement. The antique sofa and chairs in our bedroom were Incredibly uncomfortable. The bathroom door in our room did not have a backstop, so it banged against the wall every time we opened the door. The bathroom was also quite small. Additionally, the inn's parking lot was too small to accommodate all the guests. The first night we were at The Aerie, we had to park in a bank parking lot next to the inn. The Aerie has charm but also a few issues. If we return for MumFest next year, my husband and I would probably consider staying at this inn again simply because it is within walking distance of the downtown area.

Yelp
I haven't stayed much in Bed and Breakfasts. But this is a delight. Marty and Michael make you feel at home - and the rooms are quiet and beautiful. My girlfriend and her daughter just stayed there, and they have a new pooch named Banjo. We really enjoyed our stay!

Peter D.

Yelp
Spend a long weekend here to celebrate my wife's birthday and as part of our 25th anniversary year. We had a great room, the staff was wonderful and the Innkeepers Marty and Michael were amazing hosts. They took us on a boat tour and a drive thru town. Love New Bern.

Megan Y.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed here for a night since his Marine Corps Ball was in New Bern. The innkeepers let us stay in one of their bigger rooms upstairs than we had originally booked so we would have more space to get ready for the ball, for no additional charge!! Everything about this bed and breakfast is absolutely amazing! From how comfortable the beds are, the homey feel the atmosphere of the historic home and innkeepers bring, and THE best breakfast I've ever had! I can't wait to stay again and my husband and I have already made plans to stay again in the near future!

Dennis E.

Yelp
First time in New Bern and my wife and I decided to stay here. We made the right choice. The house and rooms were beautiful and Michael and Marry were wonderful. They made us feel very comfortable and took care of anything we needed. We joined the other guests for social hour with wine and snack. They have all of the menus from the local restaurants and once we found one we liked they made reservations for us. After dinner we called it an early night and went to bed, which was really comfortable although watch out if your short because the beds sit really high. The next morning we got up and had breakfast which was nothing short of phenomenal. Breakfast was between 8-9 and you can order from their menu. The day before we noticed Michael has an old Ford model A. We talked to him about it and ended up going on a 45 minute tour of the area with him in it. Also their little dog Banjo joined us who is awesome. Michael was extremely knowledgeable of the area and homes and the tour was well worth the $30 ($15 per person). We will definitely be staying here next time we are in town.

Yelp
Returned home last night after attending a wonderful Fall wedding and amazing stay at The Aerie......After hurricane Florence caused extensive damage to New Bern, NC I was so grateful that The Aerie was able to fulfill my room request.......The Aerie exceeded my expectations for my New Bern B&B stay........The curb appeal when you arrive is just the beginning of the charm......when greeted by Dina and fresh baked chocolate chip cookies I knew I made the right choice......the wine and snack happy hour at 5:00 really made it fun to get to know your "new friends".......I had the "Duck Inn" room and it was so comfy and very clean!......The Inn is well kept and didn't have the musty, damp oder which is often found in historic B&B's........Lets get to the breakfast, it was absolutely delicious each morning!!!.......served on crystal plates and stemware only added to the deliciousness of the food and charm of the dining room ....... Dina is not only the owner but the pastry chief and she wears both hats very well.....thank you to Dina and the two lovely ladies who helped in the dining room for a wonderful stay........I highly recommend The Aerie.....

J H.

Yelp
Great place to stay. wonderful breakfast. Innkeeper's are very nice and helpful! Can't wait to go back.

Jeannine S.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed 2 nights at the Aerie, and we rate it at or near the top of our favorite B&B inns of all time. Marty and Michael are the perfect hosts; our only problem was they made it so hard to leave! The 19th Century home itself is gorgeous and appointed to the hilt, sufficiently to drench you in La Belle Époque period ambience with just enough elegance to be delightful, and not so much as to be pretentious. The guests who shared this magical experience with us were also storybook perfect--interesting, gracious, erudite and inspiring. We love to travel because, every now and then, the gods of the road bless us with a mystical, transcendent experience that we remember fondly for the rest of our lives. The Aerie is a place where such moments are not only possible, they are indeed likely for those with eager hearts and adventure in their souls. Just be prepared to fall in love and let it happen!
