Afghan Marcopolo

I have been here several times and have never been disappointed. The food is always of excellent quality and absolutely delicious. The service is friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is perfect for both couples and groups of people. I highly recommend to everyone.

Absolutely loved EVERYTHING about this restaurant. The food, the service, the location and the vibe. All their meats are 100% halal too which is fantastic. I would go so far as saying that this is the BEST halal food in Mornington! The meats were incredible especially the lamb chops so juicy and flavourful hand down the best lamb chops I have ever had! The Afghan pilaf was also insanely good and a must try. And if you are looking for a deal defs check out the All you can eat special on Wednesdays!

I had incredible food here last night. The Mantu meat dumplings were amazing, but the chicken and lamb skewers stole the show! The meat was so tender and perfectly chargrilled which was placed on a bed of fluffy rice with garlic sauce and a small salad. The bolanee pastry with leak and potato was also perfect balance of flavors, and the nutella baklava for dessert was the perfect sweet ending to the meal. The service was also fantastic - the staff were friendly and attentive. I can't wait to go back and try more on the menu.

Lovely spot for a dinner. I don't know what authentic Afghan food is but the food here at Afghan Marcopolo is delicious! Loved the curry chicken and dumplings. Malty drinks are also a must try, enjoyed them so much. They are very generous with rice; it's like a never ending pile.

It is our 1st time eating Afghan cuisine. The restaurant has a lovely ambiance and the crew were extremely friendly. Chicken tikka was spectacular and we especially loved the rice that came with it. Chicken korma wasn’t too heavy. The lamb kebab was nicely spiced and the lamb was nice and juicy. I’d recommend this restaurant if you are in Mornington and wants something different to eat - you won’t regret.

What an amazing experience. Phenola and Olivia were fantastic and helpful, especially with me being vegan :) We loved every aspect of the restaurant, real homely feel with some really interesting photos on the wall. Never had Afghani food before and this was really awesome, not overpowering and not unbearably hot and spicy. Some really amazing flavours cooked up by Nada and his crew. Thank you for being there so that we could experience these wonderful flavours from your country. Nada, it was an honour to meet you and we wish you every success in your restaurant with your fantastic staff and really hope that more people get the opportunity to experience what we did tonight. Our first visit here and it sure did meet its expectations and ratings. Staff were friendly, food was 10/10 and the drinks were great. Definitely will come back again when we're in the area.

Caught up with some friends, for a lovely evening out. Food was delicious, staff were super friendly. The ambience would be better if the lights were a warm bulbs versus white bulbs. It would simply soften the harshness of the bright lights.

I came here by myself while on a work trip. The decor was decent with some Afghan paintings, instruments and other items. Looking forward to some good Afghan food but just as I was about to order, was told that they had run out of lamb except for the kebabs. This was around 8pm. Not impressed by this, and not feeling like eating chicken, I got the lamb kebabs. It came on skewers with rice, yoghurt and pickles. The food was ok though the lamb was perhaps a little overdone. Overall I expected more for the price, as the food was only a little better than the average kebab shop. Would have loved to try the Afghan national dish that they ran out of. Not feeling anything special here.

I visited this place on a trip to Mornington where my partner and I were trying to scope out vegan friendly eating options. We found this place as we wandered down Main Street and I was very pleased we did. The waiter and chef were very accommodating when I enquired about vegan options and I was able to enjoy the Mushroom Korma Chalow and plain nan with delicious coriander chutney. I left feeling full and very happy. Highly recommended for great food and a friendly atmosphere!

We have been going to this restaurant for many years & again went tonight to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The food as usual was good but expensive (frankly we could get better value just about anywhere) but we like Afghan cuisine. It was however very disappointing to find that the staff have become complacent and arrogant. We were literally tossed off our table 10 minutes early (6:50pm) & the bill plonked on our table (because the 7pm booking had arrived early). This attitude riled us to complain about the $8 corkage fee added to the bill for which the staff had performed absolutely no service at all - they just just add $8 because they like to (even though it was our screw top bottle of red). The staff member showed customer appreciation at all, didn't care for our argument, didn't care that we were not happy, didn't care if we didn't come back ever again, didn't care if we gave the restaurant a bad review - he just grinned. There are many other good restaurants to choose from in the Mount Eliza / Mornington area; I would now strongly recommend you keep away from this this one & choose one of the alternatives.
