Went for a meal with a large group. Has a nice view of the sea (although is very dark on the terrace). It is also on the expensive side for Stone Town but I think that's because it's aimed at tourists. Food is okay, so of you're looking for somewhere that does something for everyone then it does the job.

The dirtiest, worst maintained establishment I have ever seen.||The toilet was leaking water all over the floor. This was clearly not a new issue due to the water stains all over the floor, it has been leaking for some time.||The plaster on the walls and ceiling is flaking and crumbling. Everything was covered in flakes of dust, including the cups you’re given for tea (but not provided with a kettle), and the floor was filthy. ||The bathroom is in a state of disrepair, it was leaking and mouldy and stank of drains. The shower was simply a mess. The water from the taps and shower came out salty, which was very bizarre.||The bedsheets were stained and the duvet was just on the bed without a duvet cover or sheet covering it. The towels were extremely old and threadbare and also stained.||The breakfast wasn’t a buffet, we were offered omelette, pancakes, or French toast, and fruit. It was ok. However the coffee was served in filthy cups and saucers and had things floating in it.

The location is good, right by the sea and once the building work opposite has been completed the view will be very nice. However sadly that’s where the positives end. There is a bar or club very nearby which played really loud music until about 2am, affecting the quality of sleep. The toilet was leaking water all over the floor. We had lunch here, but didn't stay at the hotel. Good food at a reasonable price, but the best part was the view. The restaurant is on the first floor, with views over the sea. We had pizza which was huge. I can eat, but this beat me and I ended up taking a few slices away in a box to have an hour or so later. To get to the restaurant, you'll have to walk through the hotel and ascend stairs. Keep you eyes open for the history of the building. |The staff were attentive friendly and professional.|Recommended.

First visited in 2008. Return visit in 2023. The location is still superb. The “Sunset Bar” still has a timeless character to it with tourists still seeking the amazing views of the setting sun (weather permitting of course). The rooms are dated and upkeep is needed. Our room facing west leaked quite badly in the heavy rains during our 3 day/2 night stay. Regrettably, the top level terrace we sat on in 2008 has been closed now for a number of years probably due to needed upkeep and is now just an area for storage of chairs and tables. The main bar terrace still gathers and serves the crowds. Price is middle of the pack, but some of the price is for the location and not necessarily reflecting of the amenities. Overall a great spot for a few days and well worth it for the sunset views.

We just dined in their restaurant where the food was ok nothing really special. They gave us menus in dollars which had high prices in my opinion. The cups of Icecream is 10$, my food with calamari was 15$. I think the prices are high for Africa.

Came here with a tour guide for lunch. As a result I wasn't expecting much. The view is incredible!||Staff were attentive. The tour group chose a variety of dishes, steak, tandoori chicken, huge king prawns, pizza. I didn't have a huge appetite so went for a fresh fruit salad with vanilla ice cream. ||Food arrived when it was ready rather than all at once. ||Everyone was impressed and it wasn't expensive.

Great place for dinner on a rooftop. Really enjoyed the food, service and views while in Stonetown. Would stay there in the future. Prices and good variety were a welcome change and I thought the staff was very attentive. Hotel seemed to have an interesting history.
