"Chillout in the Library Bar Sit down in the comfy leather couches and read up on the local news while you sip on a perfect whisky or hustle up a game of pool and sink a cold beer while keeping your cool, either way you'll love the Library Bar at the Melrose Arch hotel for it's classy, old school opulence and it's cosy atmosphere. Hot Summer evenings can be enjoyed on the verandah with cocktails and friends while cooler evenings can be spent cosying up on the couches at the fire side with a hot cup of cocoa. A well thought out bar food menu, is also available if you're feeling a little hungry."
"It’s a sad fact that many swaths of Johannesburg aren’t exactly walkable, but that’s not the case at Melrose Arch, a trendy complex filled with some of the city’s hottest restaurants, galleries, and shops. Guests are in the heart of the action if they book a stay at the African Pride Melrose Arch Hotel, a slick property with 118 stylish, contemporary rooms adorned with modern African art. And now that the hotel falls under the Marriott family umbrella, guests can expect all sorts of perks and upgrades associated with the brand."

"Melrose Arch is the name of one of Johannesburg’s newly hip districts, a planned and gated community right smack in the middle of the city — an oddity, perhaps, to those of us used to a less orderly sort of gentrification, but actually rather sensible, given the degree of disorder in Johannesburg’s recent history." - Tablet Hotels
This property is outstanding in regard to the high level of service and hospitality everyone here displays. The property was modern and clean and rooms were comfortable and spacious. Staff interacts with the guests in a natural and friendly way that makes you feel at home. From the doormen to Front Desk to restaurant staff every person was outstanding. The two restaurants at the property offer great food and service. The Melrose Arch area around the hotel offers many great shops and restaurants in a safe environment to walk in. Truly one of the best hotel experiences I've had globally and the first hotel I felt sad to have to leave. This is one of the top places to stay if you find yourself in Johannesburg

I had an overnight in Joberg on way to Malawi and decided to stay at the melrose arch area since it was safe and had lots of restaurants and shops. I arrived early and I am a marriot gold member so i thought i would be able to check in a few hours before check in time but they said they could not guarantee it. But once I talked to Zinny she made everything work and even was able to give me an upgrade. The room was big and had cute design elements. I was able to check in a few hours early and get some sleep after my 26 hour journey. And when i checked out Zinny was there with her amazing smile and checked me out quickly. Breakfast was also great and in a nice room. ||Also i was deciding between melrose arch and rosebank and when i went to rosebank i am so happy i stayed at melrose arch feels much safer and quiter.

A group of six of us recently stayed at the African Pride. From the moment we arrived the experience was wonderful. The staff are so friendly and go out of their way to assist. They is always a friendly smile and a hello from all of them. The area around the hotel is wonderful: full of lovely restaurants, bars and shops. Best of all, it's super secure and safe. All the food in the hotel is wonderful and breakfast is one of the best set ups i have seen. If you are travelling through Johannesburg there is no better place to stay. We returned two weeks later and everything was again wonderful: the staff are simply sensational. We had dinner at the Sebule Restaurant and it is truly a fine dining experience. A sincere thanks to the management and all the staff for making both our stays so relaxing.

This is my second stay with the African Pride in Melrose Arch, and it has impressed me even more this year! The care and dedication that the staff shows truly instill the spirit of Ubuntu in you. The building and the dining spaces and the rooms are all beautiful. The food is delicious and the luxuries are plenty. However it is the wonderful staff that impacted my amazing experience the most. I cannot wait to return for my next visit!

I had such a lovely stay that when I returned to Jo Berg after safari, I canceled another hotel to come back here. The staff is amazing and super helpful with anything you may need. If Zinny has any suggestions, listen to her. She is right about everything!
