First of all: the tour guide did a good job, he knew a lot and took the time to answer all of our questions and was very friendly. The reason for the two-star-review is the following: in fact, you‘re paying 730n$ per person to visit a zoo that only shows five cheetahs. They are fed every day by the employees and are being kept separately from other animals. The 1.5-2h tour includes that you look at the cheetah, get some information and then get a very long introduction about the history of AfriCat (which wasn’t to be honest too relevant for us). All in all, we were disappointed as from the website, we thought before coming that the target of AfriCat is to release cheetahs again into the wild and educating locals - both is not happening anymore. We felt a bit misled from the information online and I did not get the impression that nowadays (i think it was different in the past) my money goes towards a good cause. For anyone who wants to see a cheetah closeby and doesnt care that they are not in the wild (but rather in a zoo setting), the tour can be recommended (but still I think it is way overpriced).

You can learn a lot about Cheetahs, Leopard and Lions and see some Cheetahs which are used to humans close up without a fence or bars. Seeing the wild living cats is nearly impossible due to their habits and habitat. (As anywhere else - not a fault of Africat...)

We visited Okonjima day centre today.Very interesting tour.Africat is doing a wonderful work and please support them when possible. Please be aware that you will only see the 5 cheetahs that cannot be rehabilitated to the wild. The other big cats are away and there is minimal contact with humans. The facilities are good and clean and staff are friendly and helpful.

Okay, you do get to see Wild Cats here. But they're captive, and they're fed by humans, and it's hardly a wildlife experience. That said, it's well worth a visit, and a donation as well.

Cheetah, panthers, lots of knowledge on cohabitation of humans and wild cats.

Interesting place to visit. You can learn about the cheetah, lion, leopard etc. The price of the 1,5h tour is quite high but worth the foundation.
