Awesome breakfast place. Great options we had the waffles with cream and Classic brekkie (fried eggs on sourdough with top quality salad). Coffee was good. Service was efficient. Place was packed within 15 min of opening and we barely managed without a reservation thanks to the accommodating staff. Great ambience with people of all sorts in groups of 2-6 seemingly have a good time. Restrooms were clean

We loved Afro Café so much that we ended up coming here twice for breakfast during our short stay in Salzburg. It’s easily one of the most vibrant and inviting spots in the city. The atmosphere is fun, colorful, and full of energy, which makes it a perfect place to start your day. The food here is absolutely amazing—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. I can confidently say I had the best waffles of my life here: light, crispy, perfectly cooked, and topped with just the right balance of sweet and fresh ingredients. The breakfast menu offers a great variety, with something for everyone—from classic options to more adventurous twists. Their coffee selection is also fantastic. The staff is warm, kind, and attentive, even when the place gets busy—which it definitely does! It’s a popular spot with both locals and visitors, so I recommend going early if you want to avoid a wait and get a good table. All in all, Afro Café is a must-visit in Salzburg if you’re into great breakfasts, amazing coffee, and a fun, welcoming vibe. Don’t miss it!

The food and the service was super awesome. Lukas was super friendly and welcoming to every little request we made. Speaks english and german. Very good value for money. The quality was consistently great for all the items we ordered. Totally recommended.

Just in Salzburg for the day and decided to give this place a try and couldn’t be happier! Good coffee, delicious food and great vibes. Had the Chakalaka burger and definitely recommend!

Fantastic, after a week of homely Austrian food to find something with a bit of spice and some vegetables was a dream. The coffee is absolutely excellent to so do buy some to take home with you.

It is located in old town right at the end of pedestrian zone. Due to its positive reviews we went for dinner. It was raining a bit, therefore outdoor section was not operating fully. They gave a table inside which was little cramped. Though everything was fine inside, but due to pleasant weather it was better outside. Upon our request after sometime they shifted us outside. We had a local white wine with salad and chips & dip. The wine and and food was very good. The service was very efficient. The ambiance was great, mostly young crowd. The outdoor section was a great place to watch the world go by while having your meals or drink. Worth visiting !!

Google
Nice place for coffee and breakfast. The coffee was good. The food was really nicely served and ok, but nothing special. The breakfast cost about 20€ for one dish and one coffee.

Yelp
Cute little modern coffee shop with healthier food options and really good coffee. Bright, fresh interior and very friendly staff. We were able to sneak a table in between either peoples' reservations for a quick snack/pastry and coffee. The nut roll is chef's kiss -- a lot like a cinnamon roll but with nuts. Went perfectly with the cappuccino I ordered.

Yelp
Tasty café fare. We visited Afro Café on a Wednesday evening, and it was nearly empty. The café has a plethora of tables both inside and outside. The setting is casual and music from the African continent played over the speakers during our visit. I ordered the Afro spice ras el hanout spinach falafel wrap. The wrap was served with a dipping sauce, and, when combined with the sauce, the wrap was perfection. Overall, I would recommend the Afro Cafe to anyone visiting Salzburg.

Yelp
First time in Salzburg and came across this cafe. It does get busy, so prepare to wait or get seated in the smallest corner possible. Our friends and I decided to wait it out. Drinks were great, food was very aesthetically pleasing but mediocre in my opinion

Yelp
Afro Cafe isn't the typical Austrian restaurant. They focus on fair trade coffees and teas as well as create delicious taste sensations. I enjoyed a delicious AFRO Wrap with spicy chicken and lots of vegetables. Also, the Rooibos Tea was the perfect accompaniment.

Yelp
Has plenty of seating. Service is on point. The ostrich burger is good and coffee was up to the name and roots.

Yelp
After so many wiener schnitzels, sausages, potatoes, dumplings and pretzels...you might need a break from the heavy Austrian diet and the constipation that goes with it. Plus the decor and ambiance here is groovy! Its so out there from the rest of Salzburg. Its a mostly younger local crowd; I think we might have been the only tourists in there. Staff is also friendly than your average Austrian. €5 Three kinds of dips (tomato-cashew, Baba Ganoush, zucchini cottage cheese) with flatbreads. Some good, some ok, but its a nice variety. € 6,20 Spelt Sandwich...healthy and tasty. € 14,70 Spare Ribs...its A LOT of delicious ribs. They've also got a nice selection of beer, wines, and tasty cocktails. Check it out!

Yelp
One of my favourites in Salzburg! Great food, great coffee, creative design, friendly waiters - Afro Cafe has it all :) I love their brunch options, as well as the great variety of non-alcoholic cocktails. Try "Mombasa" tea and waffles with maple syrup! I'm warning you though - this is not the cheapest cafe in town, but it is totally worth it. Also, you might need to get a reservation, especially on weekends.

Yelp
We were in Salzburg for 3 days and came here 3 times! 2x for breakfast and once for dinner. The place is very cool and cozy with indoor and outdoor seating areas. Be aware that the outdoor patios smoking is allowed. Breakfasts: we enjoyed the Brekkie sandwich, the scrambled eggs and porridge. All were marvelously prepared, presented and delicious! Dinner: for the meet lover they have pork ribs and boy they serve a huge portion, 2 could enjoy but I demolished it! My wife had trout on rice with veg and okra, again huge portion and soooo delicious! Go and enjoy!

Yelp
Super chill and hip cafe. They have exotic meat (giraffe I think, among others) and great coffee and tea. You get to make and mix the tea yourself which is cool and its very relaxing. The setting is super cool and I wish there was a cafe similar to this where I live! If you visit Salzburg, you must stop by here!

Yelp
This place was such a good find!! The whole ambiance of the place was funky and fun! We came in to escape the rain when sightseeing and wound up having a delicious lunch. The wraps are HUGE. (I got the chicken and pineapple one). My friend got the fresh start with delicious eggs and this amazing walnut bread. The teas and coffee were not only satisfying but the presentation was adorable. You will enjoy!

Yelp
Loved the service at Afro Cafe! Super crowded on weekend mornings so definitely make a reservation by emailing them if you have a large group. Very friendly to tourists as well. Afro is a super cute cafe. Friendly staff, cute ambiance, and very creative interior decoration. It's very original and different. It's a hidden gem in Salzburg. The food and drinks are great! Afro cafe is a break from the heavy Austrian (greasy, salty) food. You can get amazing iced coffees as well as a large selection of teas. If you're a tea drinker I would definitely check Afro Cafe out. Overall- a lovely experience. I lived in Salzburg for over a year and would always walk across the Salzach River every Saturday morning for brunch.

Yelp
This place is pretty funky for Salzburg and Austria. Take a look at the photos! You walk from the crisp reality of life in Salzburg to another world here. First thing that strikes you is the lighting - some might call it mood lighting. Personally I thought I'd stepped into a pink/orange wonderland jungle cafe. There is a menu which changes every day which was translated for us and a standard breakfast menu (before12) and lunch menu. This place opens till 12 so although we got here for lunch (mix of trendy locals, businessmen - who plan ahead and book their table- good idea, and tourist/travellers like me). Worth a visit for sure!

Yelp
Such a cool cafe!! I hung out here for a couple hours and had a hot chai tea latte. The presentation and service are both great! It's a very cozy cafe with lots of pillows and blankets offered to the customers. I almost fell asleep while I was there. I will admit that I didn't eat here but my sister swears by their club sandwich and their applelicious tea. She studied in Salzburg for about 4 months and says it's the best sandwich she's ever had.

Yelp
If Austen Powers had a cafe this would be it; this funky cafe in Salzburg was perhaps much too esthetically pleasing and didn't have not enough attention to taste. The decor is just as brilliant as their name, AfroCafe... I think perhaps my mistake in this case was not ordering coffee or tea. I chose the waffles with whipped cream, fruit and syrup. It left much to be desired as the waffles were under cooked and not crispy or warm. Also, it might just be me... But when I think of fruit with waffles I think berries, but it came with chopped up apples. Although not awful, I don't think anyone should order this item from the menu. I'd say give this place a chance for drinks and coffee, but if your craving waffles, perhaps you should get them in Belgium.

Yelp
Stopped in to warm up from the cold temps. We each got a hot chocolate - recommend gingerbread chocolate or the amarula chocolate (just like Africa!). Casual and relaxing.

Yelp
Went here for lunch and was really glad we blindly picked it. So we started out with the lentil soup, which was excellent and split as out main dish the club sandwich with salad instead of fries. Everything was really tasty and I recommend it of you're looking for a good solid cafe. It's really cool inside as well.

Yelp
It is what it says on the tin! The interior is really bright and uplifting and there s Afros wherever you look. The teas are really good quality and you get a tray with the whole tea set including timer for brewing your tea. The hot chocolate was decent but not the best. The cakes were more novelty than clever. I had the kaktusfeigen cake. It consisted of sponge cake, cream, rocket salad, artificial fruit flavour and cold hard couscous. It tasted ok but the rocket was nt doing much. The texture of the cold hard cous cous could as well have been grains of sand. I d go back to try the food but stay away from the cakes!

Yelp
Great little cafe in the middle of old town Salzburg. Totally feels out of place from the outside but once you enter the cafe, you will feel right at home. Friendly staff, great atmosphere, and most of all, excellent coffee!

Yelp
Awesome decor, friendly staff, amazing food, fun vibe and they have biltong. Love it here, I will definitely eat here frequently

Yelp
Good scene, service and food. Nice break from heavy Austrian food. Stopped for a few drinks and had a few small plates. Kind of pricey for what you get but that's typical of most places in this neighborhood. Healthy mix of locals and tourists...

Paul P.

Yelp
Crowded but we only waited 5 minutes for a table. Food was unique and delicious. Ambiance was fun with bright colors and music but not too loud. Would eat here again. Review is lunch time

Astrid A.

Yelp
Very nice surprise, funky place with good food, we had the piri piri prawns and the afro salad both very good. Friendly staff and very nice vibe. The only negative note was the Afro iced lemon tea, to avoid at all costs :) everything else was super..

Wendy W.

Yelp
The food was good; it was a neat place as far as seating and atmosphere, but the waitress was one of the rudest we had in Germany, Austria or Switzerland. It put a pall on the whole evening. Also, comparatively expensive.

John F.

Yelp
This is definitely worth a visit if tout want a change from the ordinary menu. An individually styled cafe Restaurant which serves afro Caribbean food. My Barrac uda was great and the other things we tried went down equally well. You need to book here, or go out of the busy time or you won't get a table. Coconut and pineapple cake for dessert, which was moist and crumbly. Good stuff.
