Afro's Pizza

Really great spot for Detroit style pizza I'm Toronto. The chef doing the pizza in the front is really fun. Very friendly. Pizza was really unique and delicious. Maybe a bit more $$ than expected, but I know Detroit is usually more, and it's Toronto after all. Would still go back so many fun options and flavors to try.

afros makes SOO MANY unique and one-of-a-kind pizzas, and they were all so delicious. not to mention, the guys were super friendly !! prices are super reasonable too. while the flavours were super interesting, i’d say the most outstanding part was the crust — every single one of the pizzas had super crunchy, crispy edges, with a thick and fluffy interior, baked with a strong savoury cheese taste. my favourite one was the hendrix , which was an INSANE chicken and waffles style pizza. the chunks of chicken were savoury and paired SOOO well with the sweetness of the maple infused and seeping out of the crust with each bite. it was also a bit spicy, and there was a strong sharp cilantro taste. the sam cooke had a crispy panko sprinkled all over, and the tart sweet cranberry went well with the salty chunks of turkey. dipping the fluffy soft dough hOT SAVOURY gravy made it super juicy and it kind of just exploded with flavours in your mouth. the jackie brown was also really great, although the tanginess of the coleslaw and the kick of the crispy jalapeño was much stronger than the chicken taste, and i didn’t really get much of it?? but i don’t mind because it was still really tasty. the mac and cheese was baked with a crispy top but the noodles underneath were drenched in a creamy, cheesy sauce and it was just an all around super classic comforting dish.

I came here to attend an event and stayed with my friend who lives in walkable distance from this place. My friend highly recommended this place and told me it's "Michelin quality pizza". I was very pleased to be able to get food at very late hours after attending my event. There were a lot of cool and creative pizza flavors on the menu. Personally I thought the pizzas were a bit sweet (I ordered the Thanksgiving special and mushroom pizza). The portions were generous (I ordered two personal pizzas for two people and it took two late nights to finish them).

I don’t think I’ve had a better pizza than this one. Super crunchy crust, amazing toppings, and extremely fresh. Amazing staff as well! Shoutout to the staff for giving us Halal options! Will definitely be back.

We tried Afro’s pizza yesterday and it was delicious! The Detroit style pizza crust is fluffy and there is a wonderful layer of crispy cheese baked around the top edge f the crust. The toppings are unique and flavourful. We tried the Davis Jr and the Jackie Brown and enjoyed them both. I would say that the flavour of the jerk chicken didn’t really come through on the Jackie Brown but the overall flavour combination of the toppings was so good I didn’t mind too much. I definitely recommend trying this restaurant’s unique and delicious pizza yesterday!

I visited the shop this time for a more in-depth understanding of what they do there. This Detroit Styled Pizza with the fresh dough and mouthwatering cheese had me excited when I seen they had a seasonal special pizza with duck confit included based on "Superfly" a classic film. The other menu items will blow your mind out of the water as well - very curated with fine cuisine ingredients in mind, they'll be a favorite for any event in the future. They have vegan cheese & gluten free dough for our dietary restriction friends and the staff are well trained. The two owners talked about future goals for the business, new products and summer time fun for 2026 in the interview I did with them. What a cool place. I’m amazed that I didn’t know about this wonderful place for almost 3 years of me living here. The staff were amazing, what a bright energy they radiated. This wonderful man also told me the history behind how they brought the idea of chicken waffles Hendricks with watermelon to life. Im definitely going there again. Love the place love the people there! And ofcourse the pizza was delicious! The mango jalapeño was a cherry on top. Watermelon and chicken combination was so refreshing too!

I had the Sister Nancy special and the Hendrix personal pizza. They're expensive but totally worth it and I highly recommend the Hendrix which is my fav. 10/10. UPDATE: Went back again to try the King's Personal & the Jackie Brown. 10/10 as always. I also came back for the Hendrix pizza again cause I loved it so much. ANOTHER UPDATE: I went back again to try the Houston and Whisper pizzas which I both give 9/10. ANOTHER UPDATE: I went back again to try their new seasonal dish the Korean Earth Wind and Fire pizza. 10/10. ANOTHER UPDATE: I tried the new Sam Cooke deep dish pizza and it was really good and I would give it a 7/10. ANOTHER UPDATE: I tried the Jully Black special pizza from the Winterfest 2025 on Harbourfront. 9/10.
