Beautiful collection of vintage clothes!

One of the best thrift stores I’ve ever been to. Sure a bit on the pricier side but the selection and rare finds you’ll get there makes it definitely worth it

This Place is Great / The Selection and The Staff and Prices are Fabulous !! I've been Going to them for years and Now they are in a Bigger Space !! You must Go !!

Google
Great selection of clothing and accessories, each little section if a different vendor. I will say that some of the vendors have prices at a premium so keep that in mind! I fell in love with a few pieces and I just couldn’t justify some of the cost. I will say that some of the vendors are open for a slight discount so don’t forget to ask!

Me and the wife just can’t get enough of this place! My wife (Margaret I love you baby!) loves to shop and I just love being around her. 34 beautiful years of marriage and working every day to be the man who is worthy for more years with the woman of my dreams.

their employee sutton saved me from a fire. amazing place.

Google
I didn't understand the organization of the store. Came looking for vintage tshirts and I found them interspersed throughout various racks, like 5 or 6 different places. Prices varied from $15 to $48++.

I was all walking around Valencia and noticed that this place was new…. But then I came to the reviews and it looks like they might have been gone for a little bit but are back! Great selection of vintage items. I found great sweaters but I couldn’t get myself to pay that much for them. The store has curated a nice selection. I believe there are different vendors so pricing varies. If you are willing to splurge you can find unique items here for sure! Establishment Organized by vendor. They have awesome pieces, varying styles.

Yelp
Afterlife Collective exude coolness. Never mind that we were both starting to feel the fatigue of walking around almost (on/off with food and bathroom breaks, chocolate tasting break, etc) for the last eight hours. When we saw Afterlife, we were like, "yeah! We are going in!" Afterlife Collective curate some of the coolest and cutest clothes we have seen in a while! I try to capture this by my photos, but obviously it's more than that. Come in person, you will see what I mean. They seem to have a great selections of vintage rock T-shirts, Levi's, sundresses, etc. My friend and I had a great time treasure-hunting here. Come by and support this family-run business.

Yelp
I went in to shop for a shirt and I was looking around for a bit to realize that it was super quiet. I thought there was nobody in the store but then I saw an employee laying down on a couch on their phone. So I kind of walked over but there was no acknowledgment of my presence there. I had a shirt I wanted to try but no looking up or anything. I keep walking around to then see an employee at the register and again, no greeting or saying hi. I wanted to try some clothes on but I decided to walk out. Very disappointing customer service.

Yelp
Afterlife is one of my favorite vintage stores in the city. I don't always find something every time I step in, but I like looking through the uniquely curated items that cycle in and out every season. There's definitely an established style here, which I appreciate and vibe with. Their most plentiful items include vintage denim (do try them on in the fitting rooms, because sizing varies so much by era), denim/work jackets, graphic and band tees, and sweaters. I love coming in to find one of a kind knit cardigans or sweaters, and have a steadily growing collection from Afterlife. They also carry lots of accessories, ranging from jewelry, scarves, bandanas, to handbags (vintage Coach) and hats and sunglasses. It's really fun to sample everything. Pricing wise, I think most items are pretty reasonable. I wear most of my purchases very often, and have gotten my money's worth. There are items on the pricier side, but that's because they're either rare or just a cool find in general. Afterlife sometimes has a sale 50% off the entire store. When this happens, SO much is worth the money. It's my lucky day every time I come and there's a big sale :) Overall, my favorite thing about afterlife is the experience of digging through such one of a kind items. Truly like a treasure chest, and recommend it to everyone!

Yelp
This is one of the larger vintage stores in San Francisco. Besides the obvious "great selection of clothing and accessories", I really like the selection of graphic tees, Chelsea boots and bags. Jewelry selection highlights silver and turquoise - possibly Zuni jewelry? I love this corner of the store. The fitting rooms are spacious, the staff is polite and helpful. This is my regular stop in the Mission.

Emilia B.

Yelp
Best employees. They helped me find size in styles that I wanted and they helped me find the perfect dress I wanted for a specific occasion. I love them for real.

Yelp
Just came in here because I saw some cool retro 49er items - not 1 person said hello out of the 3 associates working, not 1. I was going to purchase a sweater, but customer service means everything to me. On top of that legit, 2 other people walked in, hate to say this but they are white and they said Hello to them! I can't! I'll gladly take my money elsewhere - what a joke! So rude, so I'll pass.

Katrina C.

Yelp
Stopped by...kind of a bad vibe. Both shop associates looked at me but didn't greet me in any way. I like the concept of the collective having different sections for each vintage shop, but it's not worth feeling like I'm a ghost in there.

Yelp
Excellent selection for folks who aren't a size 0. Great clothes, very friendly service.

Yelp
After spending well over $400 dollars on two jackets, two jeans (which the vintage Levis ripped after two days mind you I did not wash them, they ripped in the crotch area and one of the loops where the belt goes through also ripped, and this was with very very light wear. I also bought a pair of their brand pants and are amazing btw my fav ever ). I was really disappointed with the Levi's because they really are so nice they are also my favorite but had to resew myself. One of the jackets was too bulky/squared off its a M-L size but I usually wear a S-M, I live in the South Bay so a week later I came back and the orange head said I couldn't return it because it didn't have the tag? Those tags are miniscule and can come off by itself, that's the reason I can't return it? Seriously, you guys sell very beautiful things, I myself bought really beautiful pieces and am just disappointed at the lack of service or empathy I received from store. This was my first time in there after finding it closed so many times. On the fence of saying fuck this place and this place is a heaven.

Yelp
Best boutique on Valencia! Upon walking in we were warmly greeted. This place has a ton of great second hand clothes and the owners are AWESOME! We look forward to stopping by again as they have a great selection of clothes and sizes! @superthriftbros are my favorite!

Chris A.

Yelp
Good clothes, very poor customer service. I'd rather buy elsewhere than deal with them again.

Vianca D.

Yelp
They're racist. They have a great collection of stuff but purposely profile people of color. The special attention you get is not due to amazing customer service, but instead to ensure that they will not lose any inventory through theft. There's a barefoot lady who will follow you around and take the clothes you want off your hands to "try on" but it's really so she can keep them near the cash register until you purchase them. Other workers will not blink twice at you when you ask for help. It's a great place if you're white.
google avatar

Yelp
Afterlife always have interestingly unique clothing items that you won't find anywhere else. It does come with a pricetag though.. I did see the old school gold SF 49ers Starter jacket on display here a couple of times but it was always sold whenever I went back to buy it. I finally saw it again a few months ago and decided not to waste time and buy it. It was medium size and fit me perfectly. The jacket was in great condition too.
google avatar

Britt C.

Yelp
Solidly curated selection of reasonably priced vintage. Great vibe and aesthetic, no overbearing employees just casual and friendly. Good light in the fitting rooms. An acquaintance recommended Afterlife for their denim selection but I was more stoked about the variety of vintage Coach bags and Harley tees. Picked up a great vintage Disney sweatshirt for $42. Looking forward to popping by again in the future.

Yelp
I've visited this store at least ten times and not once has any of the employees ever even said hi or even acknowledged that I was even a human in their store..mind you it's a small shop.... Not sure if it's that they think they are too cool to say hi or they are just lame in general... Just know that I buy vintage samples for a living and the last few times I was in there I would have bought something had someone at least said Hi....Think about it....;)

Yelp
My purchase experience with Pam and her staff has been nothing less than pleasurable! Let me start with the unique array of items, vintage and contemporary. You may find something that is older than the date you were born and it will be in great condition. Pam is very selective in all of the items she offers in her boutique. I found a beautiful vintage police motorcycle leather jacket that was in great condition. Certainly restored and conditioned with great care in Pam's hands! Pam makes her own special leather conditioner that brings back old leather to life and gives newer leather resilience! A few weeks after, I returned to her store to let her know of all the great complements about the jacket. Upon entering the store, there on the wall was an extremely beautiful vintage horsehide bomber jacket. It had the hues of brown chocolate. Irresistible! Every time I wear it, it takes on a persona of it's own. It fits my ego! Recently I returned to Afterlife Boutique and purchased a set of very simple yet exquisite pair of gold earrings Pam explained that her daughter designed this and other several pieces of jewelry on display. Needless to say, i get complements each time I wear them. Now let me tell you about Pam... Personable, intentive, welcoming and REAL! Shopping at Afterlife is an fun experience. The store is an emporium full of wonderful items for evey person who's tastes range from Funky to "What becomes a legend most", meaning the basics black classics! If you are searching for something unique to give as a gift, this is the place! While you are there don't forget to try something on for yourself, you will require it as part of your own unique wardrobe! Eduardo D.

Yelp
Excellent vintage finds today... really scored. Amazing selection of mens and womens clothing and accessories. Great service and staff

Yelp
Customer service here is a consistent 5 stars. The staff is always very helpful whenever I swing by, whether it be offering fitting rooms when you have something in your hands or pointing you towards great finds in the corners of the shop. I could spend hours here looking through the racks of their well-curated selection. If you don't have the time to go to the store in the mission, you should check out their instagram account @afterlifeboutique. They post awesome unique vintage t-shirts that you cannot easily find at other stores. I recently saw something that I really liked that unfortunately sold out so fast on their account, and they direct messaged me with another option! I am adding this store in my rotation of my favorite vintage stores that I like to visit weekly (Vacation in the Tenderloin and ReLove on Polk St). Support this local business! You will not regret it =)

Yelp
Cool store, but I must say, the dog had the best customer service there. No greeting when I came in, and I was followed around the entire time. The experience felt awkward and creepy. There are lots of other interesting thrift stores along Valencia, swipe on this one.

Yelp
My guilty pleasure since relocating to the city! If anyone from South Bay is visiting their style is very similar to that of Black & Brown my other favorite high end secondhand shop! But, I've honestly found way more gems here than B&B! It's expensive at times, but definitely a lot of these pieces are one of a kind. My favorite jacket I still get compliments on all the time I bought here a year back. Always a stop for the boyfriend and I when visiting the mission

Yelp
Know what kind of afterlife I want? The kind that starts with a breakneck taxi ride, with a cultist driver, who demands my Nyarlathotepian servitude, with us teetering on the edge of a bridge, then plummeting to a river and a watery grave. I basically want to die and become Bill Cosby. And I want to wear bootleg clothes from here once I've done so.

Olivia M.

Yelp
I have been going to this place for like 7 years- it's always been great, it's pretty overpriced but this is San Francisco, so that's par for the course. Yesterday was my first time in in a while- and one of the dudes on staff is a tool. Classic tiny-hat wearing, mustached bro. My friend and I browsed for a while and he was slipping into a leather jacket when the staff member said, in the most condescending possible manner, "Hey BUD, if you break that zipper you're buying the jacket!" We immediately put everything we were going to try on back and left. If I'm going to spend $95 on a pair of Levi's, I won't be spoken to like that. Best of luck to that guy.

Yelp
Love this place! Just found out about them through an article in GQ magazine, who listed them as EXTREMELY expensive. I found that their prices were very reasonable for the product. Vintage rock t-shirts and jackets are usually pretty pricey. However, I've shopped for vintage clothing in LA and the prices here are much, much better. The two people working (girl and guy) were also extremely friendly and helpful. I was buying a vintage denim jacket for my boyfriend's birthday and the guy working tried it on for me so I could check out the fit, etc. I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Interesting little boutique I popped into with my gal. They have a combination of Retro/New, Vintage, and Consignment. Leather jackets, boots, shoes, concert shirts, and dresses make up the majority of the stock. My gal tired on a few things that just didn't fit quite right. But I get the feeling we'll check em out again.

Yelp
Excellent jewelry and jacket sections! Lots of denim and leather jackets that were great quality. The jewelry was abundant and high quality as well. I bought some opal studs for $30 and I'm so glad I got them. The employees were so quick to help but weren't pushy and the guy who helped us (didn't get his name) was super polite and funny. Everything was priced fairly and they even had a pretty good selection of shoes which I haven't seen very often. Definitely recommend if you're in the shopping mood or just want to see some neat pieces for a blast from the past.

Yelp
WOW! I came across this sweet vintage store find on a sunny afternoon in the Mission. I was actually on my way to score some rad sidewalk sales but the awesome vintage Mickey mouse men's tee drew me in from across the street. LET ME TELL YOU, I may regret giving away my new secret vintage shopping find, but the prices are so reasonable here. It's clean, uber stylish, and supremely awesome. I saw a plethora of authentic vintage tees for prices like $19???!!!! I even saw a taupe cowboy suede fringe on the yoke men's jacket for $70. Serious????!!!!! I am not dreaming here. This is total secret men's fashion haven. Not only was I impressed with the authenticity of the vintage jewelry, tee's, aztec sweaters, and suede/leather jackets, but who I believe to be the owner made a very kind gesture with a claw ring-- YOU NEED TO SHOP HERE PEOPLE. I am definitely going to stop by on the weekend again! Thank you, After Life for being so rad and I will support the small business owners of SF!
google avatar

Amanda R.

Yelp
Gosh, I just love this place so much. I love that they take really fabulous, one of a kind vintage pieces and then re-vamp them so they have a more updated fit and finish. The prices are affordable and everything is uniquely pretty. I always find something I love when I come in here. The jewelry is also gorgeous and locally made, and the really cute employees play good music.
google avatar

Yelp
Not just another trendy shop on trendy Valencia, this inviting, clean, warm toned and interesting boutique features a hand picked selection of incredibly cool items. A fabulous collection of vintage Rock 'n' Roll and music T's, leather jackets, jeans, shoes, shirts and clothing as well as all the necessary accessories/jewelry is all displayed in a natural, unpretentious setting. This is a REAL neighborhood rooted shop (sez the veteran, native SFer) with a friendly, informed and helpful staff. This place in naturally cool unlike too many places that strive to be cool but miss the mark. Dead Pawn Turquoise rings? Baby leather moccasins? Sun Ra and Blondie buttons? All presented harmoniously, naturally, beautifully.

Yelp
Vintage clothes & shoes & purses + non-vintage clothes + non-vintage jewelry an already sorted through Goodwill/Ebay that leaves you with a perfectly refined selection of boots/shoes, bags, leather coats, sunglasses, tees to choose from.... my favorite vintage shop in the Mission for everyday clothes there is also a case of non-vintage jewelry by local designers and the store owner herself. For local handmade jewelry, I found it to be affordable at around $65-75 for a necklace or earrings. really unique stuff
google avatar

Betty G.

Yelp
The salesman here could not have been more rude to me. I dared to come in shopping with a friend and a baby. I asked to see the sunglasses in the window, since the sign says 'ask for assistance.' He refused. Check out Bell Jar, they are super sweet and have lovely wares.

Yelp
I love this shop! I have been to many vintage clothing stores throughout the Bay Area and I was thrilled to discover Afterlife Boutique after finding them via Etsy. Afterlife Boutique was selling my "Holy Grail" vintage Forty Niner jacket that I have been coveting since I was a kid! This jacket was the end all and be all of my vintage Forty Niner collection! I spied the jacket on Etsy's website and was thrilled to see that they were located right here in the Bay Area! I got in contact with the wonderful Luke who is nothing short of amazing! Really knowledgeable about vintage and sports vintage as well! I put a deposit so that he could reserve the jacket for me and I made arrangements with him to pick it up! I was so glad that they were willing to let me pick up the jacket in person as I wanted to visit the store. The store is so wonderful with clothing for both men and women. The store's layout was easy to navigate and was displayed well. Unfortunately Luke was not there when I picked up my jacket but I met with his lovely mother. She was so pleasant. The jacket was just as described and I could not be happier with it! I can't wait for football season to begin sporting this jacket! I am sure I will be back to this store for more vintage treasures sports related or otherwise. There is a lot to see in this store so give yourself time. Thank you again Luke for a wonderful item that will bring me years of enjoyment. I really appreciate it!

Yelp
So many beautiful reincarnations of hot vintage items in here. And it's very affordable. This store speaks to me on so many great levels.
google avatar

Emmanuella Z.

Yelp
Love this store. I can rely on Afterlife to find some well worth it, fashionable clothes. Every time I have been to Afterlife, I have noticed that it is a bit overpriced. There are lot of cute dresses, vintage tees, and jackets. Afterlife is extremely clean, awesome, and just a really good store compared to the other clothing stores around. Other stores are just full of oversized rags. However, one thing Afterlife could improve on is carry more female jackets. Afterlife also has a wide selection of vintage jewelry (along with their tees, sweaters, and dresses).
google avatar

Julie K.

Yelp
This place gets 5 stars just for having size 5 vintage shoes! It's so hard finding shoes, especially used, in my size but Afterlife had an abundance of them. It was hard walking out with just two. The overall style of this place is vintage/hipster/hip, but not in a dirty way. They've got interesting used clothes and fashionable new clothes. The also have a bunch of cute accessories. What's unfitting is that they were playing 90s hip hop - but that was cool, it's what I like listening to anyways.
google avatar

Yelp
I came into this store with high expectations given the almost uniformly high marks on Yelp. I left really disappointed. Let me start off by saying that the general aesthetic here is not my thing, which is very vintage and leans kind of hipster (vintage reconstructed tees). There were some Allen Edmonds that I was tempted by, but they were half a size too small. In general, not my scene. But I'm not going to dock them on that. What I will dock them on is plainly exorbitant pricing. I saw some price tags that made my damn eyes bug out the back of my head. And that's fine if it's commensurate with what you're purchasing. But I saw one leather jacket on the jacket rack that was in terrible condition. The leather in numerous large spots was abraded past the point of reasonable repair and the elastic knit cuffs had sizable holes in both. They were asking $125! Granted I'm sure it was a very expensive piece brand new, but really? I looked around and generally would not pay the prices I saw on the clothing. At those prices, I'd rather just buy it new or off eBay. On the plus side, the space is really cool. It's very neatly laid out, clean, eclectic, and funky in its aesthetic, and they are obviously very big on presentation. I tried on some shoes, put them back up against the wall, and someone who worked there immediately came and adjusted them so they were perfectly parallel with the other shoes. I's a nice little spot to wander into and browse if you're in the area and you might find a gem or two. And if you have the money to spend, there are some nice kitschy finds. But I would not come back regularly to shop.
google avatar

Rachel T.

Yelp
Easily one of my favorite vintage stores. Tees can be a little expensive, but I can find rad enough shirts where I'm willing to pay the price. I got my favorite Harley Davidson tee here. The variety here is consistently good. Love the second hand boots as well! Keep it up guys and I will keep on' comin'
google avatar

Jessica V.

Yelp
So far I have only bought a few rings and sunglasses here but that is because I never get to spend the time I want there and actually forced my boyfriends to drive out of our way so I could run inside and grab sunglasses before a road trip, just cus I knew I'd find ones I liked there. It is not big and there isn't a whole lot but it is obviously hand picked vintage to the point where you do a double take wondering if it was manufactured just for the place. Then, when you realize it is actually authentic vintage, it's even better. Always neat and easy to shop in, nice prices for accessories, and it stands out among many cluttered and dime a dozen shops in the area.
google avatar

Meredith A.

Yelp
Amazing selection of impossible to find items, awesome staff, and out of this world store layout. A+++
google avatar

Richard M.

Yelp
From the New to the Old, this boutique is very unique. I'm in here just about every week it seems, and not only because of the down to earth staff, but mostly because there is no way of knowing what you'll find here unless you visit often. They get shipments in often (I believe). Picked up a beautiful brown vintage leather jacket recently I'm sure I won't find anywhere else in the city. Enjoy!

Kat R.

Yelp
They carry some labels, as well as some vintage consignment? The space is really pretty. Lots of woods and lit warmly. I found a cute dress, and asked the clerk if he had another, because there was a small hole at the chest. He went to go check, but came back saying that was the only one. He was happy to give me half off, which was so kind. When I tried it on, it was far too short, which made me so sad, because the dress was lovely. I would definitely come back to see what comes and goes. It kept my attention and had enough cute stuff to have me looking through the whole store. The space is a little small, but that also usually means there are hidden gems abound. I can't wait ti find one here :)

Yelp
this is my favorite clothing store in the city. it has a very specific look and i like it.

Yelp
PLEASE do your business elsewhere. Somewhere that not just the quality of the merchandise matters but also CUSTOMER SERVICE. This is something America doesn't seem to think matters much anymore. It's all about getting the $'s now. However you may get it. My debit card was stolen by a thief. I reported it lost with my bank. There was a charge I disputed with my bank for about $400. I also filed a police report. I went to AFTERLIFE to get the original receipt. It was not my signature on the receipt. The signature did not match what was on the back of my card. And this store didn't bother to check for an id. They just allowed the thief to charge my card by credit & walk out with almost $400 in merchandise. In my 41 years of being alive, whenever something like this has happened to me or someone that I know, the store admits they were wrong & credits the card back the $'s that was taken wrongfully. The store owner of AFTERLIFE basically told me I COULD GO TO HELL! There are so many good small businesses out there that treat people right & this Project Runway wannabe IS NOT one of them.

P G.

Yelp
This is not a run of the mill recycled clothing shop. This place is awesome, beautifully arranged, easy to maneuver and find things at really reasonable prices! I had to do a double take that some of the items weren't new as they are showcased so well.
google avatar

Lauren V.

Yelp
Afterlife has really cool vintage finds, as well as more modern clothes and accessories .You have to watch yourself though, things can add up, or one piece can be a tad bit of a bank buster. Just watch the tags closely so when you get to paying you're not like,"WOA THAT SEEMS A LOT". Staff isn't super aggressive maybe that's why people think they come off rude, but when you ask them a question , or chat at the counter they seem quite nice. I personally don't like to be accosted with up in my grill sales people so I prefer the laid back approach
google avatar

Shira O.

Yelp
Vintage, well-maintained, well-kept, awesomeness. I kind of need to avoid this place because I always want to spend more money than I should. But, what the heck, live a little right? Shop, spend, enjoy. It all goes back into the SF economy anyhow. Buy local. Support local. Be local.
google avatar

Ysabel D.

Yelp
On my visit to SF, I stumbled upon Afterlife and decided to pop in and browse around. Despite finding myself and my boyfriend to be the only customers at the time, none of the 3 staff members acknowledged us during the ten/fifteen or so minutes we were there. I fumbled around with a necklace for some time ( the pendant kept falling from the chain to the ground) and one employee just watched me the entire time without offering any help. Let's just say it felt rather awkward. When I asked one lady to open the display case so i could look at some jewelry, she seemed annoyed and dragged her feet. She remained stoic throughout the brief interaction. All in all, there were some neat items but the staff seemed so unapproachable; feeling quite unwelcome, we left with little desire to return.

Yelp
Got a nice vintage Pendleton at a decent price, it's in great shape so no complaints.

Yelp
They recently participated in my fashion show and contributed in a large way! They have some incredible gems and their vintage collections are amazing. Men's tees are pretty awesome and one of a kind. Check out the pictures and review from the fashion show on theavant-gardist.com/after-life.

Yelp
Where do I start... Great location, awesome hours (noon-8pm), vinyl pressings, art openings, good music, comedy shows, cool clothes, amazing jewelry by local designers, and super cute ladies. Not just some wannabe hipster store in the mission; but a poignant boutique with many types of genuine & inspiring flare. I'm headed over there next week to pick up some jewelry I've wanted for a while now.
