Celebrated a birthday with Afternoon High Tea at The Brown Palace Hotel and Spa, and it was absolutely five stars. The grand atrium setting beneath the stained-glass ceiling is breathtaking, and the live piano music adds the perfect touch. The tea selection, fresh scones with Devonshire cream, delicate sandwiches, and beautiful pastries were all exceptional. Service was polished and warm, making the celebration feel truly special. A timeless and elegant way to celebrate in Denver.

We had a wonderful experience at the holiday tea time. The mini sandwiches have great flavors, the scones are soft and amazing, and the desserts are yummy and very pretty. Hiwat took great care of us and went out of her way to find nut-free macaroons for one of our ladies with allergies. Highly recommend.

This is not my first time at the Brown Palace for Afternoon Tea. I always wanted to try out the experience around Christmastime. The food was good and I loved the teas. I feel what ruined the experience was the service. When you are paying 75 dollars per person, you expect a level of service. The first waiter spilled tea on the table and did not clean it up. Another waiter spilled water very close to my friend and right on her plate. He did not offer a new plate so she could not set anything else on the plate. Then the hostess came by and asked if we were ready for the check while one of our people were in the bathroom and I said that we were not quite ready. Well the hostess said in a rude tone that our reservation time was about done so we needed to hurry. If there is such a time limit then it needs to be stated clearly which it was not. We did not spend more than an hour. I just don't think Brown Palace staff has what it takes to charge 75 dollars for their experience. The decorations and atmosphere was great on the other hand.

Stunning!! We loved going to tea time. The tea selection was vast. The food was delicious. The staff was so friendly and attentive. They had a pianist playing which was a great touch. We enjoyed it so much. The setting is gorgeous as well. It is a little pricey but totally worth it.

A Truly Charming Afternoon Tea Experience We visited The Brown Palace for Afternoon Tea in their beautiful multi-story atrium and had a truly lovely time. The ambiance was elegant and relaxing, making it the perfect setting for a special outing. The scones were tasty, but the real standouts were the tea sandwiches and pastries—each one was delicious and beautifully presented. My favorite tea was Jane’s Garden, though every blend we tried was enjoyable. Highly recommend for a classic and memorable tea experience!

We enjoyed the afternoon tea in this lovely old-world hotel with a live piano player. The setting is beautiful, you dine in the atrium and lobby of the historic Brown Palace Hotel; it does bring you back to another time. The food was good but not great, the tea was excellent, and the selection of teas was large. The staff was reserved and proper but friendly, which seems fitting for afternoon tea. The piano player is a pleasant addition. If you're looking for an elegant afternoon tea, you will enjoy this.

Finally got the chance to attend the holiday afternoon tea at the brown palace. Overall the atmosphere is what sold it, being surrounded by the intricate historical architecture of the hotel really set the stage for the experience as a whole. I was quite disappointed with the food offered. The scones were on the harder side but the lemon curd was a really good addition. I honestly liked it more than the Devonshire cream. The finger sandwiches barely had any filling on the inside. It was nice that you get a second refill on the sandwiches but the flavor wasn’t there it was mostly just bread. The desserts were elegantly crafted I liked the touch of gold flakes. The teapots were quite small compared to other afternoon teas I’ve been too from other places. I was also shocked to see that they use tea bags I thought with a price point of $75 per person for the basic royal tea that it would have been more of a natural loose leaf tea with strainers built in to the pot. Probably won’t be back as it’s a little too steep of a price for the quality of everything you get. Visiting the brown palace separately is always well worth it though.

During our trip to Denver I booked a reservation for afternoon tea in the lobby of the historical Brown Palace. Immediately the staff was welcoming and attentive, even providing warm blankets to use. Hiwat was very informative and friendly with her service and many years of experience. It was a great tasty and relaxing experience to spend our last day.

I took my Mom here for a holiday afternoon tea . It was a great experience! We sat in the beautiful atrium where the gigantic chandelier hung overhead. We were served tea and sandwiches right away. I tried their Brown Palace Hotel Christmas spice tea, and my Mom tried their white peach tea; both were delicious! We had scones with the yummy Devonshire Cream, and plenty of cucumber and egg sandwiches. The waitresses were friendly and professional. We'll be back again!

Came here for afternoon tea with my family. The seating area is truly beautiful, the service is great, and it is an experience that helps you to connect with your senses and have some quality time with the people you go with. Also a great excuse to wear a fun fancy outfit. The food was good. I am gf and vegetarian and they accommodated me with a separate plate of food I could eat. I very much appreciated this and my food was good. My favorite was the cream and curd for the scones. My family also enjoyed their food. I don't know that any of them enjoyed the turkey sandwiches but that's more of a personal preference. We got 3 tea choices for our table of 5. The tea was good but I think we would have loved the opportunity to try more different teas. Overall my main complaint is the price to food/experience ratio. The basic afternoon tea is about $80 and although I understand there is a premium for the elegance and unique value of the venue, I have had other comparable afternoon/high tea experiences at places in Denver for about half that price.

Girl's trip to Denver brought us to the afternoon tea. The whole experience far exceeded our expectations. Food was delicious and presentation lovely. But what really made it special was our server Hiwat. Her kindness, humor, and attentiveness were unparalleled.

Skip this one and save your money. Try another afternoon tea experience. Definitely a money grab. I'm comparing this to other local tea rooms. We were extremely disappointed in the quality of the food. The food didn't taste fresh. They added seating around the perimeter. Asa result, our table among other tables were within close vicinity of the cigar lounge and in front of the stairs. The upside was that the wait staff was extremely friendly. I would recommend lowering the price, improving on the seating, providing a better quality of food.

I took my son, daughter, and 3-year-old granddaughter for afternoon tea to celebrate my granddaughter's "Golden Birthday", 3 on the third. The venue's ambiance is fairy-tale, making it the perfect setting for a princess celebrating her special day. The scones with the Devonshire cream and jam are fabulous, the finger sandwiches are divine, and the desserts, splendid Seeing the joy on her face when I whispered to her, this, is all for you, will be a memory that I shall cherish forever.

The food is pretty good but not five star. I do wish they would step up the game a little bit for afternoon tea. But it's always nice. And you of course are paying for the ambience. For a special occasion. It's always fun. It's totally a Denver thing. So great for out-of-town company. Service was excellent perhaps really even more than excellent! Valet is $15 but that's pretty standard.

We went to The Brown Palace for Christmas tea. I made the reservations many months in advance. It was so packed they squeezed in extra tables and we were literally at a folding table right near the guest registration and not really in the dining room (though the whole place is so large you can still see portions even from there). The decor is gorgeous and the servers well trained but not terribly attentive in such busy conditions. I let them know ahead of time, at check-in and when seated that I am gluten free and they said they were happy to accommodate. At no time did they tell me it was a $10 up charge, though it might have had small print on the menu. When I made the reservation the tea was a pricey $65. By the time we arrived they'd upped it to $75. With my up charge it was $85 for two cups of tea, several finger sandwiches, two gluten free scones and several little desserts. Most of the gf food was very tasty. One scone was so dry it just crumbled. This is clearly intended to be an experience and I don't think I'd go again.

What a beautiful place to spend an afternoon - sipping tea and eating afternoon delicacies! The holiday season brings a festive approach to the ambiance. There is also a live piano player who is willing to play anything you'd enjoy to listen! Servers are definitely very professional and friendly.

Tried our luck today with a very last minute reservation at the Brown Palace today for holiday tea and we were not disappointed. Holiday tea is a long standing tradition at the Brown Palace that many people come too year over year. Because of this, when the reservations open on June 1st, it can be hard to get a spot. Don't get discouraged. Call and get on the cancellation list and continue to check Open Table. We looked 15 minutes before the reservation started and one opened up. It felt like the stars aligned. The space itself is easily one of the most magical in Denver at Christmas time but the food and drink didn't disappoint either. At $75 a head ($35 for ages six and under) it's not an inexpensive way to spend the day, but it is worth it. Make sure you dress up, many people look like they walked out of a NYC Christmas movie, and you'll want to too.

First time experiencing afternoon tea and this place nailed it. The Brown Hotel is historical and they have afternoon tea down to a science. The pictures are pretty self explanatory. Everything was delicious: finger sandwiches, scones, clotted cream, blackberry jam, Chai tea, mixed drinks, oh my! What an experience and amazing memory with friends.

I've been here three times, and love it- one of my favorite things to do in Denver for sure. Definitely need a reservation a few days or weeks in advance. Not every time is as good as the last though. Their menu changes I believe once a month or so, so the desserts and specialty scone will change. The tea menu is surprisingly limited. Their plain black tea seems to be a winner, but is nothing super special. Chai was also good. Each person can only choose one tea, but you get water refills. So share flavors on your table. I love when the scones come out warm, but that is not always the case. Their specialty scone with poppy seed that I had was really flat and my guess is it was an off day. I had another one with pear chunks and it was divine. I'm not a lemon person but their lemon curd is really delicious. I usually go for that with the cream instead of using the store bought strawberry jam they include. There is usually live music. I've heard a piano player, live jazz, and even a live harpist. All fantastic. They can play happy birthday for you if you let the waiter know, and they will bring out a special sweet treat at that time. The hotel lobby view is stunning. If you get a nice server they can take a vertical panorama photo with you in it, which goes up to the ceiling. The desserts are not always great- some are far too sweet- but you can take them to go and enjoy a treat later. You get two plates of sandwhiches. I believe there is usually an egg and cucumber sandwich, and a third that changes. Silverware is gorgeous, including the tea filter.

Always enjoyed the afternoon tea at the historical Brown Palace Hotel, one of the few places in town where the English high tea tradition is still honored along with impeccable service. It was even more so during the holiday season surrounded by splendid festive decorations. The tea selection is wide, but not overwhelming. The flavor is unique and enticing. The pastries were tasteful and delicious. Don't know why the scones were at the bottom plate, followed by finger sandwiches and sweets, instead of in the traditional order of sandwiches, scones and sweets though.

What a fun afternoon! If you're looking for a special experience please try afternoon tea at The Brown Palace. A group of girlfriends and I spent a wonderful afternoon sipping on champagne and tea while enjoying not only great food but wonderful service and the amazing atmosphere of this place. The dress code ranged from really fancy and beautiful hats to nice summer dresses. The whole experience is fun and special! The only downside was we sat right next to the piano. Don't get me wrong, the music was beautiful and the perfect accompaniment to the whole experience but it just made it hard to carry a conversation. I want to go back!

After securing a reservation months in advance, our group of 6 was looking forward to a relaxing afternoon experiencing Tea for the first time together. We were greeted with hostility from the hostess', and dismissed when we asked about the wait time (since it had been 25 minutes and we were still waiting for a table). I've worked in hospitality and I was embarrassed for the Brown Palace. For such a well known "4star"establishment to conduct their business so poorly and treat their guests as if they were an inconvenience is unacceptable. For 300$ per couple the service and food was underwhelming and not worth the price. Save your money and support a local business that will value your patronage and time.

Love an afternoon tea, and this one was wonderful! The setting, the food and tea, and running into a friend was a bonus!

Afternoon tea at The Brown Palace is incredibly charming and delicious. The food, service, and ambiance are top notch. Thank you to the lobby pianist John who made our day by playing Elton John's "Your Song" and Phantom of the Opera for my wife.

Grand setting, live piano music, real china , three tiered stand with a plate of scones, a plate of finger sandwiches, and a plate of sweets. Too many tea choices to list-sorted by green, black, white and herbal. Champagne if you want it. Attentive service. Tea at the Brown Palace is the whole package. If you want to dress up a bit and celebrate in a posh way, this is an excellent choice. At $60 pp, more if you opt for champagne, this is a pricey choice meaning most patrons are here for a special moment. Reservations generally a must, and reserve way in advance around the winter holidays. Metered parking in the area can be tough to find, so you might consider using the hotel's valet parking. Splurge and give it a try!

Afternoon Tea at the Brown Palace was lovely! We were able to get a reservation for 3 people the day before. The hotel was decorated beautifully for the holidays! They were busy, but they were still prompt with the second round of finger sandwiches. I really enjoyed the Masala Chai tea. We got one refill of hot water I was impressed with all of the food that was served! My favorites were the cucumber sandwiches and the tart, but the scones and every dessert were notable! Also big fan of the lemon curd. Great for an occasion, will hopefully be making a tradition out of it

I have always loved the brown palace! I have gone every year for the last 3 years. But this year was unacceptable. 90 dollars for some tea sandwhiches, dry scones, decent desserts, and a glass of champaigne is ridiculous, however I might have excused this if the service and treatment had been special. The service was awful, our waitress switches 3 times, they messed up who had what tea. We had to package our own leftovers. When a guest pays $100 per person, you should expect a fine dining experience; this was worse than my last experience at the cheesecake factory.

Teapot and utensils are all silver, classic English style tea service. The sandwiches are delicious, the scones as well. The desserts are a little on the sweeter side but go well with black tea. You can order extras if you want more of anything, and they are very good with refilling your teapot. Service is in point.

Reservations fill up fast so please make sure you plan ahead if you want to experience tea here! We showed up a few minutes before our reservation and unfortunately weren't seated until over twenty minutes after our reserved time. It was obvious that they were short staffed but the staff they had were clearly working very hard. Our server was very polite and explained the process to us. I wish she told us upfront that we could have refills on sandwiches and tea. The tea itself was very tasty and the food was pretty good. Scones were amazing.

Afternoon Tea in The Atrium at the Brown Palace Hotel in Denver, CO, was a wonderful treat. The food, service & old world atmosphere is top notch. A special thank you to Hiwat. She took care of us the evening before & when I mentioned I would love to do the tea but was unable to get reservations she told me she would make sure I was able to get a table. When I came down she recognized me & made sure I got a table. Her attention to detail & very kind nature made for a lovely experience.

Fall is in full swing at the Brown Palace and they're ready to provide you with a classy outing unlike anything else offered in Denver - where the tea is piping hot, the champagne abundantly flows & the ambiance is grand. #somuchyes. We attended the Brown Palace's Witches Tea on Halloween and we were v ready to get costumed up & imbibe at this historic Denver jewel. Kenzy and I were seated in the atrium and ordered the Brown Palace's - The Royal Palace - afternoon tea option. The Royal Palace comes with a refreshing glass of Kir Royale Chandon Brut, a selected tea of your choice accompanied by homemade scones served with Devonshire cream (shipped directly from England!), preserves, finger sandwiches, an exquisite selection of classic tea pastries and finished with a Brown Palace truffle. Costumes are encouraged at the Witches Tea so we threw on our dalmation ear headbands: & were ready to have a very paws-itive time... get it? Laugh at my pun I tried lol #bowwow. There was even a troupe of witches sitting next to us having the best time. We started off our tea with a fall champagne cocktail - a twist on the standard Kir Royale Chandon Brut. These cocktails were a 10/10 and I loved the festive orange sprinkles that adorned the rims of the flutes. It's little things like the orange sprinkles that truly show Brown Palace's attention to detail and commitment to holiday festivities - & I freaking live for it . Then we chose our teas! Brown Palace has numerous tea choices and currently has some great fall options. Kenzy and myself went with the Autumn mix - which is pure fall goodness in a cup! Hints of cinnamon and nutmeg filled this tea and we each went through two pots. #moreplease Nothing beats a hot fall tea on a chilly afternoon - nothing! While we drank, we enjoyed music from the live pianist (who takes any and all requests while he plays). He's amazing! The Brown Palace employees are always exceedingly gracious and carry themselves with class and excitement while they go about their work - our servers ensured our experience at Afternoon Tea was exceptional. Soon it was time to eat & our tea tower of nibbles was brought out. The scones with the Devonshire cream are ALWAYS my favorite at Brown Palaces afternoon tea. The Devonshire cream is to die for and the scones are every pastry lovers dream. The finger sandwiches are great light snacks and my favorite is the cucumber followed closely by the egg salad. The petite fours, small cakes & truffles are a perfect ending to the afternoon tea - I have a major sweet tooth so these treats always hit the spot! Peep that red velvet Halloween cake! It tasted as good as it looks. Afternoon Tea space is generally limited at The Brown Palace for the holidays (because it's really popular and they book up fast) so we highly recommend making a reservation several weeks in advance!

Wonderful place! The food is cute and good and the tea options are wonderful. I love a good afternoon tea and the infrastructure was gorgeous. Great service and great everything.

I don't waste your time coming to this place. The service was non existent. I have never talked into I place and felt so unwelcome. The ambiance is prejudice. The food wish I would been served or welcomed. But just so that everyone knows the sugar sit on the table open so the nets gets the first taste.

If you have never done afternoon tea before I highly recommend it. It is one of the most fun and relaxing things you can do. Impeccable service and even better drinks and food. Make sure you make a reservation, it's hard to do a walk in.

Disappointingly, this is no longer an experience I'd recommend. After years of enjoying tea at the Brown Palace as an expensive but indulgent treat I have no desire to return. The price increase from $45/person in February 2023 to $65/person in February 2024 for the same offerings is both gouging and unwarranted. With predetermined tip added for large group, the cost was $83.20 for same items offered the year before. Additionally, there was no offer to refill the pot of tea that was emptied during our visit. Will seek an alternate tea location for 2025 and begin a new tradition.

Over priced which includes, 3 tiny finger desserts, 3 tiny finger stale sandwiches, 2 day old tiny scones. price $65.00 - $125.00 per person. yea served was average selections including earl grey. nothing special, very average.

Such a fun experience! My husband and I enjoyed our tea and food. The chai is especially delicious and I like that they come around to give you more hot water to keep your tea warm. Probably one of the best egg salad sandwiches I've had as well. The piano player was great and we enjoyed looking around the hotel. The service was excellent and attentive.

If you are feeling a bit fancy with tea and finger foods, maybe this afternoon tea is just what you are looking for. Seated in the beautiful atrium of the Brown Hotel, classical music plays in the background as you peruse the menu. The selections ranges from $45-$150 depending on if you want a bit of alcohol and the number of people in your party. You'll get three tiers of food - scones, finger sandwiches, and desserts. They are all very delicious. You'll get free refills on both the tea and the sandwiches. They serve herbal (non-caffeinated) and caffeinated loose leaf tea so you also get lots of options there. The service is courteous and prompt. Lots of people bring their kids for a mother-daughter day and father-daughter day too. Go for the ambience, stay for the tea and food, then read a bit of history about the hotel in the lobby when you are done. Definitely worth trying!

Our weekend stay at the Brown Palace included a mid-day tea service in their atrium. We had the "Tea for Two" which included a half bottle of Veuve Clicquot, two selections of tea and a tower of traditional tea snacks. The tea came in individual pots that their staff continuously topped with fresh hot water to keep the temperature. The tower included delicious scones, crust less sandwich varieties, and pastries. Two of each item so there were no fights. The stand out were definitely the scones! So good with the Devonshire cream and preserves. Our server was less than friendly and not too informative about the process. Later had to stop someone else for our check. Nothing major but something to note. Definitely an experience worth checking out

We really enjoyed going to the Brown Palace for high tea. We got to choose from the best selection of teas from around the world. The three tiered stand had scones, sandwiches and pastries that were beautifully decorated and amazing as always. The chocolate truffles were delicious. The ambience was wonderful. We were seated near the pianist and enjoyed the great selection of songs played live. It was a lovely experience for us. I definitely recommend high tea at the Brown Palace to you all.

.*Review specifically for Andrea at the hostess stand* OpenTable allowed me to make a 6:15 reservation for tea (which I knew was late considering that's no longer afternoon, but I thought they must have extended their holiday hours which was why I was able to make such a late reservation time). We get there and was told tea was stopped being served two hours ago. Totally fine, I get it and that mistakes happen with technology. My issue is specifically with the person at the hostess stand, Andrea. She was one of the most memorable people I have ever dealt with in the worst way possible. Treated me like an idiot, told me she wasn't sure why I was able to make the reservation but there was nothing she could do about it to help me and that I'm basically an idiot if I think 6:15 would still be afternoon tea. So we drove all the way from castle rock in rush hour traffic for nothing, which again, is not even really the problem. The problem was how we were treated once we got there. She didn't even believe I had made a reservation until I showed her the screenshot below and then still continued to be extremely rude. We ended up eating at Ships Tavern (a review for a different time), but I will not be back anytime soon. I have had afternoon tea at the brown palace several times over the past few years and the experience has always been too notch until now. I expect better service from you, Brown Palace.

Oh my gosh! This is a MUST for anyone wanting a delightful tea experience! My dear friend, Dullain, surprised me with a proper afternoon tea after a fantastic trek through an art gallery across the street, WOW! Let's start with the hotel... Stunning! Now, the tea... A couple of dozen types of teas - all detailed on the menu, along with their caffeine level (and the servers, who are also delightful, even in today's tough times for hiring employees, are all incredibly knowledgeable) served in gorgeous silver teapots which went perfectly with the bone china. We had the "basic" service and it was far and above anything I have had outside of the Empress Hotel in BC. Those tea sandwiches...especially the curried chicken salad...oh....yes, please. Did I mention they had a pianist playing? There was this adorable, little girl celebrating her 6th birthday...oh my gosh...so cute! And, the pianist played the best renditions of Disney songs I have heard in ages! How Sweet! Note to self: Valet park off of Tremont at the entrance of the Brown. The prices are more than reasonable and they are really the only place to park.

You get what you pay for! I try to go to afternoon tea in every city I visit and I've had some of the best tea experiences worldwide. I'd say on average, an American style afternoon tea is between $60 to $90, often including a glass of champagne, so to me $40 seemed like a good deal. The historic hotel, Christmas decorations, live piano, and overall atmosphere was totally worth $40. The tea selection and quality were slightly above average. The accompanying food was the worst I've ever had as I'll explain below. Booking was difficult. I tried booking tea for two for the MLK long weekend over a month ago, only to be told it was fully booked all weekend. This morning I called to see if there were cancellations and again I was told they were fully booked. So, I decided to just stop by at noon. It was fairly empty and I was seated immediately. A bit weird but maybe they were understaffed. I recommend just showing up if you have a small party but can't get a reservation. When I got to the table there was already a bowl of cream sitting there uncovered. How long was it there for? Frankly, it scared me. I only tried a drop, but as another reviewer stated, it wasn't real Devonshire style clotted cream, just whipped cream. After I ordered, my tea and tray were brought out 15 seconds later. So, it was just sitting in the back gathering dust? At least pretend you made everything fresh for me and bring it a full 5 minutes later. Scones were not hot or fresh. To me they tasted like a processed gas station muffin that had been shaped into a triangle. I think a good scone should be toasted or baked till you get a crumbly golden crust on the outside and a warm, buttery, and fluffy inside. These scones were squishy and uniform like wonder bread. I barely had one bite, but the tables around me were gobbling them up, so maybe it's a Denver thing!?? Jam was a mini jar of Dickinsons, a smuckers product, so nothing special. How hard is it to make a house jam or preserve? Especially if the tea service is a big draw to the hotel. Sandwiches were the most basic you could think of and the worst tasting by far. Egg salad tasted old and sour. Ham and cheese tasted like cheap processed ham and cheese. Cucumber was fine but not fresh or crisp. I don't care if it's basic at $40, but please at least be fresh. The petite fours were fine. Again not fresh or interesting. Too sugary and processed. I took a mini bite and of each. Nothing to write home about. Overall, go to socialize and enjoy the atmosphere of the beautiful historic hotel, but don't expect a great tea service. Not for foodies. I suggest they raise the price but offered a real gourmet selection of treats made fresh on site.

One of the best afternoon tea experiences I've ever had. The tea, the champagne, the sandwiches, scones, and desserts. Every detail is on point and the wait staff was attentive and warm. Thank you for the lovey experience.

We were visiting Denver for my birthday and decided to go to high tea and the recommendation of a friend who is from the UK and a tea fanatic. She booked the reservation for us 3 weeks prior to our arrival; 3 PM on a Friday. We checked in at 2:55 and they said they'd let us know when our table was ready. 3:15, still not seated and I went to check on the status and it was still not ready. 3:30 rolls around, still no call or text so I ask for an update (we had dinner reservations at 5:30 because we were told to expect 2 hours total for tea time and relaxing). The man bussing tables was at the host stand and when I asked for an update on our 3PM reservation he said "yea it's been ready." But they never notified us? Odd. We get seated and they immediately bring complimentary champagne since the wait was so long, even with a reservation. Our waitresses were wonderful, attentive, patient, and clear in explanations on how everything worked. We decided to do the basic, traditional tea and get to ordering. They brought everything out--it was delicious but not AMAZING as I would've expected for the price--and even a CUSTOM plate of goodies for my friend who has many food allergies. Very accommodating for her. Once the bill came, we made the mistake of putting our cards in for payment and not reviewing the bill very carefully. When it was returned and paid, we discovered they had charged us for 6 people, not 5, and charged us the package that includes champagne. They quickly refunded and adjusted the charges (that were off by $250!!!!!). Fun time overall but I'll definitely be finding a more affordable tea experience in a less-known location next time. The service and ambiance are great! Friendly staff, lovely piano music, and beautiful floral arrangements make the experience special. However, the food itself is quite disappointing. The sandwiches are dry and flavorless and the sweets are so grainy and sugary, even my sweet-loving children didn't have more than a bite. The scones were the only food we enjoyed. For $50 a person, we were very disappointed to leave hungry and with most of our food left on our plates.

Came here for Mother's Day. It's truly a lovely classy affair. But holly cow it's pricey. Everything is a package deal where you pick a tea which comes with assorted scones, tea sandwiches and dessert ($45,$48, $50+ depending on the package). I have to say the food was good but not outstanding. And thankfully they do give you a second round of tea sandwiches. Overall a good experience for a special occasion. Expect to pay at least 100 and then applied gratuity and tip.

This summer my five-year-old and I took his grandmother to Afternoon Tea to celebrate her birthday. It was such a hit with my son that we went again the following month with a friend and now he has me make him tea at home weekly. (Don't worry, it's decaf.) The experience of tea in the Brown Palace is lovely - the hotel is a wonderful setting and you are right in the middle of the open atrium area with a pianist playing off to the side. Pro tip: the piano player will take requests and if you happened to be there the day he basically played the whole score to The Little Mermaid, sorry (not sorry.) For the tea itself, you can choose to have just the tea or a champagne version of tea (sparkling juice for youngsters and they bring it in a real champagne flute) and there are so very many choices for tea, including about a half dozen decaffeinated versions. There is a decaf chai that I really enjoyed. The tea is bottomless and they keep it refilled on the regular. After your tea arrives they bring out the bites to eat which include scones with real Devonshire cream, a variety of small, crustless sandwiches, and a ton of lovely desserts. It's definitely a pricey experience, but well worth it in my opinion and I'm sure that Mr. E will find a reason to get us back there sooner rather than later.

This has to be the most overpriced tea, snack we have ever participated in. We waited for 15 minutes for tea, 20 minutes for average finger sandwiches, incredible scones and petit fours. Lots of great reviews, but who thinks great tea is worth $120, without tax and tip? The service after we received the tea and snacks was good, but nothing aside from lobster is worth that price tag. We complained nicely and the manager worked with us, but it still was wayyyy overpriced. The scones were incredible, so tender, but the cost was mind boggling. The lobby is cute...

I love tea and so does one of my best friends/soulmates, so that's the first prereq to afternoon tea. Make a reservation because walking in can be challenging. We arrived on a Sunday late afternoon around 4 and waited a few minutes to be seated, only because we didn't want to sit near the pianist- who was phenomenal- but would slightly interrupt our girl talk. I am a plant based eater, and if you notify them of this either at the time you make your reservation or when you arrive, they will accommodate you... and the bites are tasty! The overall experience was peaceful and delightful, truly one of those simply be in the moment and boujee type environments, but beyond comfortable. The cost per person is about $40 or so, which is not bad at all/average for most afternoon teas. Loved the atmosphere and will definitely return for my next trip to Denver!

Took my mom here for fun on a recent trip she made out to Denver. We had a fun time and service was pretty pleasant, of a tad slow. I chose the Lady Grey tea or Palace Tea, as they named it. It was wonderful and not "burned" or anything. I loved the lighter bergamot flavor. My mother chose an herbal tea. I think it had Rooibos in it. She said it was also quite good. We were served the same little sandwiches, scones, biscuits, cream and jar of strawberry preserves in pictures from 5 years back. The desserts seem to rotate and change. We had some cheese cake style dessert on a cookie "crust", an amazing white chocolate ganache/sauce filled pastry cup, a chocolate cupcake and a 'pecan shortbread' cookie which was unusually chewy for shortbread and also had chocolate chips. We enjoyed it all and they brought us a second tray of sandwiches when we ran out. They brought other people seconds of certain plates as well as desired. Our server offered to wrap up a small dessert left over but we declined since it was one piece. Lovely piano music playing helped create a pleasant atmosphere. I would certainly go again to splurge on a fun outing in a beautifully old fashioned setting!

Completely old school, yet elegant. I was here in early December and stopped in for a glass of wine and a cheese plate. The service was stellar! The wine list included bottles from all over the map. The cheese plate however was a bit disappointing. Not super creative and not very exciting. The saving grace is the ambiance and service.

There are things that I may not of tried, if I wasn't married. . . Afternoon tea at the brown place is one of those things. It is the second such tea event I've been to with my wife (the other was the Drake). I was somewhat surprised that it was a mixed crowd. I had expected nothing but moms, grandmas, and daughters. . .but instead you had those as well as several tables of two men having tea? Were they English? On a date? Or doing business? Whatever the reason, it shattered my demographic expectations of afternoon tea. Now I too can come here with a buddy, instead of beer and wings. Score! If you haven't done it before, its like this 1) in the beautiful open atrium of the Brown, with skylight 2) live piano music 3) comfortable chairs, couches, etc 4) our tea service started with champagne 5) you get this multi level thing that has level 1 - scones level 2 - sandwiches level 3 - dessert The best thing was the clotted cream (think whipped cream without a lot of sugar) and preserves on scones. OH - SO -NOT -Good for me. . .but it was awesome tasting! The sandwiches (which will be refilled if asked) were decent.. . .I thought I had better. . .but good The desserts on top! awesome. Oh, and its served with a tea - your choice. Cream to add to the tea and sugar. This is a talking experience. . .a nice casual talk - tea - talk -nibble kind of place It is fun, relaxing. . and those guys that were there. I can see how it can be a good casual place to share the presentation on your ipad between scones and finger sandiches

I got the SIGNATURE TEA package and it was $42 per person. I really enjoyed the egg sandwich but the others were okay. My mom enjoyed the cucumber sandwich and her pumpkin brûlée tea. It looks like the pastries they give you vary, but they were pretty good. They were pretty busy when we went so their service wasn't great, but they were very friendly and professional. The beautiful interior with the piano playing in the background made it a much more pleasant experience.

I have always wanted to go to the Brown Palace for tea. The last afternoon tea I had been to was years ago in NYC to the Russian Tea Room. A place I definitely recommend. I finally took the time and booked a reservation for two. The place was elegant with soft piano music in the background. We were promptly seated. We had the Royal tea that came with the Kirk Royale. We had English Breakfast tea that was so good that we bought one to take home. The scones we delicious but a bit dry. This is a given for Colorado. The sandwiches were amazing. The ham and pimento cheese was my favorite, second to the cucumber. I couldn't stop eating them. The egg salad sandwich surprised me as it is not something I typically would eat. The desserts were so decadent that we had to take most of them home. My favorite were the earl gray tea cookies. This is an expensive afternoon tea but so worth the memories and the experience.
