Afulu Retreat

This place is absolutely amazing. Right on the beach, a few great surf breaks that you can enjoy all to yourself. The rooms are beach bungalows which are really nice, fast wifi and delicious food...the best we've had in Sumatra. You will really enjoy staying here

Really good place to stay , Makmur and his family make you feel like at your home. The food is tradicional indonesia and is really good. You have in front of your bungalow a really beautiful beach and really long. If you want to stay in place really quiet and beautiful you must stay here

A very special place! The beach is beautiful. Nobody around. Food was delicious! Room overlooking the beach was lovely. Everything was perfect. Couldn’t be happier.

Makmur was the best host! Just a kind and wonderful human being. The bungalow was perfect and the food delicious and I had a peaceful time in Afulu. Close to main wave and was happy to support a local who is committed to community and building up the tourist industry in a responsible way.

Loved everything at this place. The bungalow is well built, everything very clean. Outside shower. Balcony with relax bed overlooking the waves and massive beach. Palmtrees all around. The food was out of this world with every meal something different, more than enough and so so sooo tasty. I didn't surf but enjoyed the beach and tranquility. Makmur is friendly easy going guy with good English. Can't wait to return to this place.

Makmur is the best host with knowledge of the local area and surfing spots and his wife Marlina cooks the most delicious fresh local food every single day and it is served in generous portions right on your verandah (full board), the perfect reward after a nice sunrise run on the beach, a swimming morning or a surfing afternoon. We had an amazing time at Afulu Retreat. We could tell how much the owner put his mind in giving the guests the best experience from many little things. The owner and his family are kind, helpful and sincere. They provided amazing food and service. The accommodation is clean, big with simple but very well-setup facilities. The nice shower and toilet felt luxury for us since we have been traveling around remote areas in Indonesia. Nice porch and lawn to chill. The spot also provides everything, nice clean sand beach, point break surf that you can check from your balcony, nice road for scooter rides, green jungles for adventure, local grocery shop for snacks and cold drinks and super friendly local people to exchange culture with. It was truly a retreat for us staying at Afulu Retreat and exploring the authentic community and nature around.
