Aga Surf View & Restaurant

We are staying nearby and found this gem one evening for dinner. The location and space is absolutely beautiful and the staff were very welcoming and attentive. We ordered curry and rice and got the most amazing table full of food! So many different dishes to try and perfect rice. We wanted some vegan options and this didn't disappoint - beautifully flavoured and spiced veggie curries. It was utterly delicious. We would heartily recommend this place!

This small boutique hotel is an absolute gem! Nestled in a lush, beautifully maintained garden, it opens up directly onto a serene, small bay with a stunning beach. The rooms are incredibly comfortable, thoughtfully designed, and full of small details that somehow even in 5 stars hotel you don’t get like cotton swabs! The restaurant is serving consistently delicious meals from breakfast to dinner and If you are a coffee lover you will find there the best coffee in all of Sri Lanka! I swear. The staff is attentive, and genuinely friendly, they make you feel right at home from the moment you arrive. This hotel is a little paradise - quiet, beautiful, and deeply relaxing. I can’t recommend it enough! I had the best birthday ever :)

We visited here several times and were always met with a pleasant welcome. Food was very good and prices, although more expensive than you'd expect on a Sri Lankan menu, were still worth paying. As the name suggests, Aga Surf View is very close to the beach. We were invited to have a look around their accommodation (a self-contained bedroom and shower room) and it is very good indeed - clean, spacious and beautifully decorated.

After 3 weeks of traveling all around Sri Lanka, we arrived at the Aga Surf View to stay for 7 days. THis experience was absolutely perfect. Indi and his team are the nicest people. There are only 5 bungalows and ours was super comfortable, quiet and well decorated.|The pool is warm (I love it !) and the chef of the restaurant knows how to cook to please his customers. The food had a Sri Lankan touch without without being too spicy. I still remember the taste of the tuna fished the same morning.|So if you are near Tangalle in the south, just book the Aga Surf View.

This boutique hotel right on the beach is really fabulous! The food and service are amazing and I want to give a particular shout out to the chef Wasana and the waiter Rukshan and the manager Indika. It is also really stylish, reminiscent of the Balearics. I particularly love the sinks in the bathroom upstairs! Real attention to interior design detail and the owner has a fabulous eye for low key effortless cool. Great music vibes as well all on a fabulous beach.

We stayed at Aga Surf View with a group of friends and had four of the five bungalows, so it felt like our own private oasis. The rooms are modern, clean, spacious, and well-maintained, with great bathrooms and daily housekeeping. It’s easily one of the best value-for-money places we’ve stayed. The location is unbeatable, right on a mellow point break that’s great for intermediate surfers (with a surf school onsite and other beaches nearby for beginners). We had multiple sessions where we were the only ones out. The restaurant and bar are also fantastic, attracting people from nearby hotels for the food, cocktails, and views. Watching the surf from the open-air second floor while the kids played between the pool and lounge areas was a dream. But what really makes Aga special is the people. Indy, the manager, is everything you could ask for—kind, attentive, and incredibly helpful. When our 3-year-old fell ill, Indy didn’t just arrange transport to the clinic, he came with us to the hospital to make sure we were looked after. That level of care is rare. The rest of the team were equally lovely, welcoming, professional, and always smiling. Meals were fresh and delicious (it was amazing to see tuna arrive by tuk tuk and have it served for lunch hours later). Our kids had the time of their lives, and the adults soaked up every moment. This was our friends’ third visit, and we’re already planning our return. Can’t recommend Aga Surf View highly enough.

I’ve just returned from an unforgettable trip to Sri Lanka, where we spent four wonderful nights at this charming and welcoming hotel. Traveling with both family and friends, we instantly felt at home. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting—our kids could roam and play freely, and every corner of the property felt safe and comfortable. It’s the perfect place to unwind, with direct access to a beautiful beach and a lovely pool that we all enjoyed. Mornings started with a delicious breakfast from 7:30 am, where the team didn’t just serve a complete spread—they happily prepared any dish we requested. The coffee and tea were particularly outstanding. What truly made the stay special was Indy. More than just a manager, he’s the heart of the place—always attentive, kind, and willing to go the extra mile. From arranging all our transport to personally accompanying some of our friends to the doctor, nothing was ever too much trouble for him. I don’t say this often, but this place—and the people who run it—truly exceeded all my expectations. I can’t wait to return.

Amazing place to stay next to a beautiful enclosed beach. Guide book said one of the nicest places to stay in Sri Lanka and we can confirm. Really amazing vibe.|Went with an 8-year old and it was her favourite place from the entire holiday. Staff were lovely and the food delicious.
