Where to Stay in Mexico City During Your Visit (Updated 2025)

"With only four rooms, I found Ágata Hotel to be a super-stylish, tranquil boutique where rooms are decorated in soft neutral tones with wooden accents, marble bathrooms, deep tubs, plush robes, in-room coffeemakers, plus-sized TVs, and a complimentary Mexican breakfast that I thought was delicious." - Matthew Kepnes

The 5 Best Hotels in Mexico City (Updated 2025)

"Located in bohemian Coyoacán, less than a ten-minute walk from Frida Kahlo’s home museum, this super stylish boutique has only four rooms and staff who go out of their way to ensure a personalized stay. The complimentary healthy breakfast is cooked to order and served on the terrace—options include chia seed pudding, freshly made eggs, and heaps of fresh fruit—giving it an intimate, almost wellness-retreat feel. The spacious rooms are decorated in soft neutral tones with wooden accents and distinctive ceiling lights that look like upside-down woven baskets; all rooms have a seating area, Nespresso machine, safe, and plus-sized TVs, with selected rooms offering a balcony. The bathrooms are stunning, with exposed brick walls, deep soaking tubs, walk-in showers, plush robes, and luxurious toiletries, making this a tranquil and intimate place to stay." - Matthew Kepnes

The Agata staff are stars--very helpful and friendly--the larger hotels could learn a lot from this outstanding group--well done.! Wonderful breakfast to start the day. The hotel is well situated within the Coyoacan with lots of markets and places to eat nearby, but a long commute in horrible traffic from the historic centre--if we were to come again we would split our stay between the two areas to reduce time in traffic.

After much research picked this lovely hotel in a beautiful area. Fabulous room, spacious and clean. Lovely people and very secure. The breakfasts deserve all the praise people give them and if we came back to Mexico City we would stay here again. An oasis to escape the chaos and would recommend it.

This is a beautiful gym tucked away in a Mexico City neighborhood. My daughter and I visited for a short weekend trip. We were upgraded to the Agatha and it was a spectacular visit from the morning yoga classes on the rooftop to the custom made breakfast. It was peaceful and relaxing after busy days in the city. I met the owner at the yoga class and she gave me great advice on what to visit during my short time there I will definitely stay at this hotel again if it’s available. Oohh and to return to the room for night time tea was a nice add on ! Clean, customized and comfy !

A real oasis of calm with nice rooms, lovely breakfast but best of all outstanding staff. We loved the gentle approach to making sure we felt looked after. Ximena went out of her way, allowing a late check out for a small fee. The highlight was the staff calling a “friend” to get us access to the Frida Kahlo museum ..against all the odds!

This is a wonderful hotel with so much attention to detail, the staff are also very helpful. The beds are comfy with lovely pillows and quilt, great snacks and drinks are provided in the room and the breakfast was delicious. I would definitely stay here again.

This small hotel is lovely and the staff could not have been more helpful. We stayed for six nights and the room was very pleasant, with a balcony. The breakfast was served in the morning up until 11.30. We mostly ate on the lovely roof terrace and the breakfast was wonderful. ||The location of the hotel is excellent - very close to Frieda Kahlo's Blue House. There are lots of nice bars and restaurants nearby.||All the staff were fantastic and couldn't do enough to help with enquiries and onward travel arrangements. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone and will certainly stay here again.

This tiny hotel is so personal you feel you are staying at a friend’s beautiful home. Just four rooms, and lovely public spaces. The included breakfast, with loads of choice for each course, is delicious and so generous. The staff is excellent, but I must give a shout-out to wonderful Mariana. She actually walked us outside the hotel to make sure we understood the walking route, and she texted me during the day when she thought of an even better idea for our dinner - and of course made our reservations. Staying in Coyoacán is perfect for easy access to Frida and Diego’s home museums (yes, after a deep immersion we are indeed on first name basis). We walked to San Angel to visit the mercado sabado and just loved how everything is just a walk away from the hotel.
