Wow, what a surprise this place was! The decor was positively captivating. If you love vintage, this place is decorated with all authentic amazing items. Their chandelier and light collection is one of a kind. The restaurant is clean and peaceful and the service is very good. Our food was also very good. In particular we each had different sandwiches off the menu and they were all excellent. We had the calamari for an appetizer and it was tender and delicious too.

Google
My favorite bistro for brunch in Eugene. Crabby Benie comes with a nice amount of crab, the sauce is great. My hunny has two favorites - Breakfast Burrito and the Shakshuka. Both are very flavorful with good portion sizes. Sometimes there is a wait and sometimes there isn't. Just depends on what is happening in Eugene and around campus. Decor is electric with lots of house plants.

This is a great place to eat. Your eyes go from one feature to another with their collective decor. We ordered drinks. When waitress Gracie asked for our orders, we had questions. Her answers were so fast, we had to ask her to repeat them twice, talking slower. Being able to read your customers' needs is paramount in the service industry. I know being a waitress isn't easy. Knowing this, I kept the tip high. The food was amazing. Not pictured were 2 dishes of Sopes al Pastor...awesome.

Google
I'm very impressed by the taste and presentation. American food at best. This place makes me want to come back to Eugene again.

Google
They can work with food allergies. Try espresso martini with the Bing cherry it's to live for. That's Bada Bing cherry from the liquor store. Where else can you get a dollar Pacifico beer with two fish tacos but here. Love the art work on the walls. Perhaps the only place to sit in the waiting area in a movie seat from the old Bijou theater on 13th. Outside seating during warmer weather and with dog friendly patio seating.

Went with a party of 4. Fish tacos were excellent. Steak of choice happened to be prime cut with blue cheese and veggies. If you wanna spend a bit more money it's good. But wouldn't recommend to ppl with tight pockets. Burger was kinda mid. Meat was a little dry. And the BLT was amazing as well. Didn't get a chance to try the breakfast but it looked amazing. I would definitely give this place a chance if I were you.

Google
We visited 1 June 2024 for brunch. I would recommend against the Bloody Mary bar. They don’t have much accoutrements. We got the smoked salmon Benedict and It’s the Schmidt which were both quite good. I was pleased when a bunch of U of O students wanted to come in to take pictures but were turned away. That would have killed the quiet and peaceful mood.

Great food! Lovely vibe and happy to be able to bring our dog next time!

Yelp
Summary: Overall, an excellent place to bring the parents or family, any time of day: excellent food, beautiful decor, superb dining experience - all at a reasonable, fair price! Food: Agate Alley has an excellent menu of delicious foods, no matter the time of day. Their brunch, which is only served on the weekends, is phenomenal. I've never been disappointed by what I ordered, and cannot recommend their biscuits and gravy enough. On the other hand, their pretzel twist appetizers are delicious and the jazzy lemonades as refreshing as can be. Their grilled cheese special was a delightful combination of flavors, one of the best I sampled during the Grilled Cheese Experience in February. Prices are reasonable - most entreés are $17-20 - but sizeable and filling, easily shared with another person. Service: Even on a busy night, service staff are prompt and kind, toeing the line perfectly between polite and serviceable. The wait may be a little lengthy at times, but not overbearing and in my many times eating here, I've only had one dish come late. When I needed something, staff were quick to seat me, help me, and answer questions. Atmosphere: Inside, the ambience is excellent, especially on late nights. The dim, cultured lighting does not betray Agate Alley's convenient location right next to the UO campus. The outdoor seating is pleasant, and manages to have lovely greenery and a cozy feel in the middle of a college neighborhood.

Yelp
Head down to Agate Alley for happy hour, drinks, dinner - whatever! Being just a block away from UO, Agate Alley is a fave amongst my peers! The vibes are cozy and they have an outdoor covered patio - perfect for sunny days in Eugene, OR. They have an array of comfort food on their menu and always have bistro specials to try! A good go-to is the burger. Stop in for a mule or their taco special on Tuesdays.

Yelp
Exceeded low expectations. Economical dinner. Rare Eugene restaurant open past 9pm on a weekday. SERVICE: 4.5. Cheery and prompt. AMBIANCE: 3.5. We dined in a booth the pub area. Dark wood ambiance. Regular tables available in back room area. FOOD: 3.5 - Ravishing Ravioli: 4.0. She is fussy yet liked it. - Ahi Nicoise: 3.0. Generous veggies. Tuna just ok. WINE: 3.0. Glass wine.

Yelp
If you come here. Plan on walking several blocks. No parking. I ordered the chicken wrap. Never tasted the chicken. A lot of lettuce. I took it home a made the way I want it. I was with a group so the tip was on it already which was good. I didn't like that you have scan the bar code to pay and give them my email address. We had ok service. Nothing special.

Yelp
Cute place,. Very busy on weekend mornings. We got seated pretty quickly, but had to wait over 30 minutes for our food.

Yelp
This is a staple of my family - great drinks , fun atmosphere. Basic food - but consistent- We like the appetizer selection the best!

Yelp
Immediately when walking into this restaurant I was so impressed with the decor and overall vibe. It's super funky and cool on the inside and I loved the music they were playing. The food did take a while to come and it is on the expensive side but I loved how many options the menu had. Our server was nice and we were able to be seated on a Thursday night but I would make a reservation if you're coming on a weekend.

Yelp
This small restaurant is a bit off the beaten path on 19th around Agate street. My wife had to enter around the back, which was a bit weird. The inside is a smorgasbord of random framed kind of pictures on the walls and ceiling. The effort here is to give an appearance of an upper class establishment with things like water in champagne style bottles. I don't thini it really is, but it tries. The waitress was nice and checked on our group often enough for my taste. We had a group of 8 when everyone finally showed up. We got a couple rounds of appetizers, drinks all around (except for me), including stouts and lemon drops. From what I was told, the drinks were good. The appetizers were a cheese and bread kind of thing. I'm not really sure because I don't eat cheese. The other items were the fried squid. These are in tiny circles, like a tiny onion ring. They were difficult to dip because each was so small. They were okay. I don't have complaints other than you needed a half dozen to get something resembling a bite. I opted for the fish tacos. Normally, I get a burger. They had one that touted a spiced rub, which I didn't want to contend with. I did appreciate that cheese and bacon were extras for an additional fee. Since I eat neither, I prefer to pay a base price and add items rather than the item be priced higher with bacon and cheese and I pay for them to remove them. The fish tacos were not all that great. The entire taco is on3 big mash of pickled coleslaw. It isn't to say the pickled coleslaw is bad -- it wasn't. However, that is ALL you taste. You can't taste the fish. There was a chipolte type of sauce that you can't taste. I could feel it -- the tacos had a little heat to them -- but you get none of the flavor. In essense, they could have given me 3 bowls of pickled coleslaw and that would have been virtually the same. There was an automatic 18% gratuity for having a large party. I usually tip 21%, but they wanted 18, so I gave them the 18. Overall, the place is a bit unusually decorated. It isn't in an area that is great to park near (busy streets). The drinks were good and the waitress checked on us often enough and the right amount of times. My fish tacos were just pickled coleslaw and pretty much nothing else. I wouldn't be against going again, but I wouldn't choose them myself if I was deciding a place to eat (my SIL and BIL chose this spot for the group). It is okay, it is fine, it is a 3-star establishment.

Yelp
This is a very charming little Eugene classic! They make wonderful scratch cocktails and the food is wonderful! If you appreciate a good cheeseburger this is your spot. Will be visiting there again before we leave Eugene!

Yelp
Loved everything about if. The staff was friendly and efficient. The food was fresh and delicious, decently priced, came fast & there's a great variety of options. (& 2/2 order of fries for $4 is insanely huge!) Did we get to the decor yet? This is your new living room. Every kooky walk hanging you admire but don't have room for can live here along with all the grooviest, fun, lighting fixtures. The house wine is good, happy hour exists, & the bathrooms are warm! Move in ready.
google avatar

Leah M.

Yelp
So delicious! I had the salmon Bennie & a couple of cocktails. The Hibiscus into the Fracas was not sweet enough for me. The manmosa way better! Sat outside, perfect weather. Staff are friendly and got seated right away. I will definitely be back the next time I am in Eugene.

Yelp
Great lunch spot! Favorites parts: seats 6 together easily and the Marion berry margaritas! Last lunch with son before heading off. :( He'll be so happy here at UO! :)

Taylor W.

Yelp
Absolutely loved their pork and rice bowl special of the day and the Nate's A Jerk sandwich! The service was amazing, the ambiance outdoors was also incredibly peaceful. Lovely artwork and scenery inside and out!

Yelp
For some reason that I can't figure out, I haven't been here for a few years. We used to go a lot more when I lived on that side of town. We decided it would be a nice place to take my grandma and we were not disappointed! It still has its funky decor that feels like you walked into you're wacky old aunts house. We enjoyed looking at all the artwork! The service was very attentive and helpful. We went early on a Wednesday and we're able to get their Wednesday deal in addition to happy hour items. Econopint Wednesday made our pints $3.50 and a glass of happy hour wine was $5. We were happy to find out that all their happy hour items are the same as listed on the menu with just a reduced price. (It's a disappointment when you order something off the happy hour menu and it ends up being a mini version.) Our table started with a margarita pizza. The tomato sauce was spicy, which my kiddo didn't like but we all enjoyed it. One person got the fish tacos, which I have my eye on for next time. Another got a burger and I got the falafel burger. The falafel burger was tasty but I detected a buttery taste (maybe on the bun?) so maybe let them know if you're strictly vegan. My grandma got the Ahi Nicoise and my kiddo got the chicken strips. One thing I definitely missed about the place was the shoestring fries! I don't know of anywhere in town that has them and they are a fun change from the "regular" fries.

Yelp
Super friendly servers. I love the decor inside!! This place is perfect for drinks with the girls or for a nice date.

Margaret S.

Yelp
Friendly staff and efficient service on a busy Sunday. Delicious food and pleasant atmosphere.

Nate S.

Yelp
I deadass just waited an hour and a half for my food. Not worth it. The food is fine but you're better off going somewhere else that isn't going to make you starve while waiting for something you can find at any other restaurant.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! I had the beet salad. Service outstanding!Very nice venue! Highly recommended

Yelp
Great place for breakfast. Enjoyed our meals there. Generous servings, fast, friendly service. 5 stars.
google avatar

Gail F.

Yelp
I had the lamb pastrami sandwich with a dark beer with sweet potato fries on Wednesday. It was delicious.. The bartender was helpful and quick. It was clean. The place was quirky as my sandwich and other options. I will be back.
google avatar

Lilith F.

Yelp
Stopped by on a recommendation, and it was so good!! I got the surfer sando which honestly to goodness is the best sandwich I've ever had! Their tap list was nice too! Service was good but what really blew me away was how cute the place is (vintage movie theater in the waiting area, funky decor, and a gorgeous outdoor patio)! Gender neutral bathrooms always a plus. They have cheap pitchers during happy hour, and I can't picture anything better than camping out with a book, some beer, and their amazing shoestring onion rings on that patio for a couple hours!

Yelp
Fave weekend brunch place. I've tried several things from the brunch menu and never been disappointed. Go with a friend and split the Guinness French toast and something savory so you get the best of both worlds.

Yelp
Located on the South end of campus and a couple blocks from Hayward Field, Agate Alley has been a campus dining staple for over a decade. Serving students, faculty and visitors a diverse menu at a campus price point. The diverse clientele can find a culinary treat built on fresh local ingredient's that enables all dietary needs to be satisfied. The friendly staff provides attentive service that keeps the tables turning during the prime dining times. I am not a vegetarian and believe the Falafel Burger to be in of the most balanced meatless burgers.
google avatar

Lee L.

Yelp
Great spot for breakfast. I enjoyed the Crabbie Bennie while my son enjoyed his French Toast. The atmosphere is very cozy and not recommended for big groups.
google avatar

Jenn H.

Yelp
I've only been for brunch but oh my!! Staff is super friendly and the food is extremely tasty! If you are in the area and looking for a good breakfast on the weekends do yourself a favor and go to Agate Alley!! The smoked Bennie was very fresh, the brisket was cooked perfectly and the mimosas were on point!
google avatar

Denise B.

Yelp
Delicious food Great service Cool ambience I went with my parents after my daughter's graduation from UO and they loved it! I had the seared tuna salad & my Dad loved the pizza. Went for lunch last week with my daughter and the sandwiches & fries were amazing too!
google avatar

Victoria N.

Yelp
Solid place for lunch. Very sweet staff, and our server was so personable. We were a party of 13 and didn't have reservations since we didn't plan where to go for lunch. But they were able to accommodate us. I had their Cyprus Salmon, and it was fantastic. The romesco sauce elevated the salmon dish. And the arugula salad was nutty and flavorful. I was not fond of the couscous salad since it was a bit acidic. Their ice tea was strong and refreshing. Lunch was great.
google avatar

Allie D.

Yelp
My friends and I had to start forcing ourselves to branch out from this place we come here so frequently. So far I haven't had a bad drink or meal and the portions are pretty reasonable. I also love the inside and the ambiance that comes with it. I feel like I could sit for hours with a couple of small bites and a few drinks. The bacon gorgonzola pizza and the pear tree cocktail are probably some of my favorite things on the menu. The service is always fast and friendly as well and they work hard to make it a good experience for everyone. Stop by if you haven't already, they have so many things to try!
google avatar

Kim D.

Yelp
Build your own Bloody Mary $8.50 with well vodka. Nice selection of garnishes including bacon but don't expect a smorgasbord. In my opinion it's about the drink not the garnishes. Their spicy mix was good, had to add horseradish and more heat but overall it was descent. Good service which is always a plus!!
google avatar

Madeline P.

Yelp
This place is amazing and a staple in my life as a Eugenian. Their crab eggs beney is to die for!! Big love for Agate

Lauren K.

Yelp
To the girl with the platinum/silver hair, you deserve a raise. Best service I ever had, thank you for being so kind and accommodating.

Kaye W.

Yelp
I love Agate alley bistro. The food is great. Especially enjoy the veggie eggs Benedict. Service is excellent and the decor is a kick! Highly recommend!
google avatar

Austin P.

Yelp
We came here twice in the span of 48 hours because it was so good. The falafel burger was incredible (no joke, I want this in my life on a regular basis and am disappointed I live 5 hours away from here). Brunch was very tasty too and the staff was so kind!
google avatar

Bev H.

Yelp
I always enjoy eating here. Reservations available for your dining pleasure. I wanted to add a couple of photos that always surprise me! Fresh flowers and art in the restrooms! Breakfast food is solid and fresh tasting. I have reviewed them before, just wanted to include other pleasurable aspects of this place.
google avatar

Taylor B.

Yelp
I really enjoyed Agate Alley! I had been looking for a place in Eugene with shakshuka and theirs is delicious! Not pictured is the loaded hasbrowns, which were also great. My friends really enjoyed their marionberry griddle cakes and fish tacos. We were all definitely in agreement that we would be back!
google avatar

Abby F.

Yelp
I've been here three times now and think anyone searching for the World's Best sweet potato fries should add this jawn to their list. About as Oregon of an ambience as it gets. Service was excellent. Make sure to go during happy hour as it isn't the cheapest.
google avatar

Ilona S.

Yelp
We made reservations online for dinner and got there just before Happy Hour ended. (Every day 3-6pm, even on weekends!) Was able to order from the Happy Hour menu and enjoyed the Falafel burger with that discount. The fries were excellent and probably one of the best I had in a long time. Good selection of beer and cocktails and my Lemon Drop was refreshing and plenty of it. No small little skimpy glass of barely-there cocktail here. My tablemates had burgers and BLT, which looked amazing. Service is fast, plenty of water for the table in big bottles. It gets loud inside but with the booths having higher backed seatings, it was just enough to hear eachother over the noise of the rest of the restaurant. Definitely worth visiting, as their menu offers some interesting items and they are reasonably priced, especially during Happy Hour.
google avatar

Mary O.

Yelp
The food here is always outstanding. And the service friendly and fast. But, my very favorite item is the falafel burger! It is vegan but who cares? It is also fabulous. No need to go to Lebanon for great falafel, it's at Agate Alley. Their happy hour every day with astoundingly generous hours and portions can't be beat. The burgers are great. Mac & Cheese special and wrap loaded and yummy. Best beet salad anywhere (including NYC.) Make reservations, they are deservedly busy.
google avatar

Bob C.

Yelp
The food is good and they offer a nice happy hour only problem is it's hard to know when they'll be open. Happy hour starts at 10 but they close whenever they feel like it. Been turned away at 10:15 the last two times I tried to go there. The website says open til "midnightish". But closing by 10 when the happy hour is scheduled to start is a stretch. Really frustrating experience and discourages me from making plans to visit in the future.
google avatar

Ana B.

Yelp
Been here for brunch and happy hour and both were amazing experiences. The staff was helpful and accommodating and the setting is beautiful.
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
Great, great food. Went to Easter brunch w the fam. Service was pretty good for how busy it was, especially considering it was Easter. I got the Marion berry griddle cakes, and I thought they were great. Not your typical pancakes (goat cheese) but a super solid dish full of well balanced flavor. The star of the show was the smoked brisket hash, sauce game was on point (horseradish??), and the dish was brilliant as leftovers the next day. My dad got the biscuit and (vegetarian) sausage gravy, and it was delectable. My uncle, who is notoriously hard to please, was happy with his meal. The beet salad was also quite good I'm not going to front, the price is steep. As a college student( I will not be able to come here on any old Tuesday, but a trip is very much worth it for a special event like this. Overall, it's very high quality food, and the price is reflected in that sense. I don't think this will be my last time at this dining establishment.
google avatar

Matt S.

Yelp
I've been here several times and I feel like their food is often overlooked. They have a great dinner and happy hour (each night of the week there is a different special) so be sure to check that out. Last time I was in, I got their fish tacos on HH. I wouldn't pay full price for them, but these are a steal on their HH menu. I also like how it's grilled and not fried fish. I've had several of their main dishes including various burgers, sandwiches, their steak, and ravioli. It's all been very solid and I feel it's a very good value for what you pay. I like the location too because there are a number of other places to bar hop within the block, so AA is a great place to start or end a night.
google avatar

Ashley M.

Yelp
4/5 for food, 5/5 for drinks and service. The servers are always really nice and we see the same friendly faces over and over. Drinks (especially on happy hour) are always the best priced drinks in town with still great quality! Food is meh. Go here for drinks before eating dinner at nearby McMenamins or Hey Neighbor Pizza.
google avatar

Smeeth W.

Yelp
We were there for taco Tuesday specials. The good was great! The price is very reasonable. But the portion isn't that much. So we were hungry just a few hours after our lunch. I guess we will order more next time. But it was such a nice environment for sure

Julie B.

Yelp
Worst service ever!! I've given try after try too. My coworkers begged me to go the day we went. If I was the owners I'd be horrified how the lunch service treated us. The food is great but the lunch staff is the worst service EVER! I bet they've lost so MUCH money because of it too!! It's because your staff is RUDE! I'd reconsider who you let service your customers. It's so disappointing. Don't write many reviews either. The waiter straight up said he was a jerk to just like the their sandwich Nate the jerk.

Kendra F.

Yelp
Yummy breakfast and great service. Breakfast menu is unique and delicious. Would absolutely come back.
google avatar

Kandy H.

Yelp
My mom, sister and I stopped in for Sunday brunch. We had the French toast.. oh my!! The flavors were spot on, the whisky maple syrup was incredible. Perfectly crunchy and soft on the middle. My mom had the crabby Benny. The flavors were nicely balanced and she loved the apple sausage! Our server Jamie was awesome! Made for a wonderful experience. Thank you so much!!
google avatar

Steve S.

Yelp
Not sure why has mediocre ratings. Went for grad week and made reservation that was honored. Had a nice booth reserved for three of us. I was very comfortable there and drink was perhaps one of most solid in places I visited. There were college types loitering out front but inside was great. Would return. Did make reservations well in advance of grad week.

Mark M.

Yelp
Cozy dining experience. Awesome food. We had excellent service. Experience would lead us to return if in Eugene.
