This bakery has the best baker ever. With short notice he made the most delicious wedding cake ever and personalized it with vines and trees, to suit the outdoors life that they love

Whenever we visit Hawaii, the first morning we are there we get Malasadas from Agnes. They are the best on the island [all due to respect to Leonard's but they are]. One time we had a bit of a wait and the owner was nice enough to give us a loaf of hawaiian sweet bread since we had like a extra 6-8 minute wait. That was really thoughtful and we turned that sweet bread into french toast that was amazing.

Google
Malasadas were sooooo good!!!!! Only reason I gave 4 stars is the service was a little cold. It’s always nice to get a “welcome” or “be right with you” just so you don’t have to try to earn their attention. But the place is obviously legit and the fried donuts were proofnenough for me.

Google
Some people would have you believe Leonard's have the best malasada on island. Some people are wrong, Agnes' have the edge in every way. You can't go wrong with their other offerings as well, their manopuas are great for a quick meal if you can get your hands on them before they disappear each day. There is a reason the Japanese tour groups have this place staked out.

Google
2nd best Malasadas on the island (Leonard's is still the best) but it's conveniently located in the Kailua! Call ahead to make you malasada order so they are ready when you arrive. They also frequently run some great deals on Groupon so check there before you go!

Google
My parents introduced me to Agnes' malasadas almost 30 years ago, and I've gone back every time I come to Oahu. I don't know when they were established but the business is old - my parents and grandparents used to go well before I was born. I go for the malasadas (duh) which in my opinion slightly edge out Leonard's. The difference in them is the style. Agnes' uses a different type of flour and it's a little bit sour/denser than Leonard's. They may use a different oil or cook them longer because the color is darker too. And these malasadas have a hole (gasp). I just like the flavor, but I eat both Leonard's and Agnes' every time I visit - so I recommend giving them a try!!

Google
This place stunned us, it was magnificent. So many baked sweets options and everything was so delicious. The malasadas were fresh and tasty. Definitely stop by for breakfast if you are in the Kailua area!

Google
I counted and I was missing just one malasadas. I called to them know and I was told okay. No extra malasadas for next visit or a reply saying I'm sorry about that. So attention everyone please count the malasadas before leaving bake shop. Other than that they have Delicious Portuguese malasadas.

Yelp
Had friends visiting all the way from West side of Japan, and they wanted malasadas from Agnes' but we lost track of time when we were sightseeing on the East side. We were about 15 min away from Agnes' when we realized they close at that time, so I called and asked if it would be possible for them to have 3 pieces ready, and the guy who answered the phone very pleasantly agreed. He was nice enough to offer us a few small pieces as extra, and my friends all agreed that theirs is THE BEST! One of them kept saying it's way better than the popular one in town. I really wish they had more locations all over! Thank you to the kind man who accommodated us; you definitely added value to that family's vacation and memory!

Yelp
Randomly saw their truck one day while passing through and decided to check it out. We only got one to share but really wish we would've gotten two! The malasadas come out super fresh and are made to order which takes about 10 minutes when they aren't super busy. If you don't want to wait you can call ahead to order too. They have a few parking spots in lot right in front of the truck that has signs for Agnes'. They are so light and airy and don't taste oily at all which makes them so addicting! Personally I love the style of these so much more than Leonard's. Definitely recommend stopping by if in the area!

Yelp
So delicious!! Polite, time efficient and I could relax in my car till ready, He gives you approximate time it will take. Nice and hot.

Yelp
Agne's Portuguese bake shop is a food truck located in the back parking lot of a store. I almost passed it and left but saw it at the last moment. So just park in the parking lot and look around the back, you'll find it behind the gate. The malassada was warm and hot out of the frier. The main difference I can see is that there is a hole in the middle of it which makes for more even cooking and more crispy surface area. Taste wise I'd say it was similar to other malassadas on the island. I guess I'd have to taste them side by side to know for sure. They were hot and sugary and had a nice crisp outside and a moist dense interior. Among the best malassadas on the island minus the long wait. I wouldn't hesitate to get malassadas from here if I was on this side of the island again.

Yelp
Agnes malasada truck is my happy place! Fortunately on a recent trip I visited Agnes twice! I had to make up for lost time! Located in Kailua, the Agnes bakery truck thankfully serves hot, fresh, and delicious malasadas. They moved to the back of the building so don't panic (like me) if you don't see the truck where it used to be on the side. They also started serving coffee which in my opinion was a smart move. We got lucky as the first day we visited, coffee was free! Score! They also added one picnic table adjacent to the truck. On the day we visited it had just rained so the seats were really wet. So, we ended up sitting in the back of the SUV and tailgated in the parking lot. It was perfect and made total sense since the malasadas are superb right out of the fryer and into my mouth! The owner of the truck is super nice and efficient. He takes order and makes the malasadas. It can get busy during rush hour. So I'd recommend calling in your order for easy pickup and go. Prices aren't too bad either and parking is plentiful. Awesome place for a delicious taste of Hawaii! LOCATION: 5/5 FOOD: 5/5 SERVICE: 5/5 VALUE: 5/5 AMBIANCE: 5/5 PET FRIENDLY: 5/5 CLEANLINESS: 5/5 PARKING: 5/5

Yelp
No store front but so happy to find them mobile. Service was super nice, and it's still a Great malasada!

Yelp
I wanted authentic Malasadas that are not hyped like Leonard's. Only two types offered, sugar and cinnamon sugar. They are made al minute, super fresh and delicious. Soft and doughy! They do take orders 30 mins in advance, but if you order at the counter, the wait is 10 minutes. They have a cute little picnic table where you can wait or behind the truck there's some high top tables. Very peaceful and quiet area too. Super clean!!

Yelp
I wouldn't have been able to find this on my own, and by driving by it, because it is tucked in behind a store, so make sure you go exactly where the address is and park your car in the small parking lot and walk around. We ordered 6 donuts and it was made fresh to order, like it was still really hot in the box. Needless to say, this is probably the best malasadas I've had on the island, and don't get me wrong, Leonard's is good, but this one is better in my opinion. The bread is a bit more thick and mochi-like compared to other malasadas I've had. Also, there's only 1 flavor, meaning no filling, just sugar coated - my preference when it comes to malasadas. We ate this in the parking lot, and also had another one 6 hrs later at room temperature, and it was still good.

Yelp
I finally made it (back) to Agnes' for my absolute favorite malassadas on Oahu!! These are maybe a little "breadier" than others (not to be named) for some people, but I actually prefer this style - soft bread center, crusty outer shell with plenty of sugar coating! Knotty like ones at Punahou Carnival, but what I appreciate most about Agnes' is that the malassada RETAINS that crust & coated sugar better than anyone else's. (For the other popular malassada in Honolulu, if you don't eat them within few minutes, sugar melts and makes it all soggy). Bakery had transitioned awhile ago to food truck venue, but this was the first time I was able to get there after "finding" in the Manuheali'i store parking lot (across the street from Kalapawai Café) Can also call ahead to order!

Yelp
We passed by this truck on our way to breakfast. The truck got me at "Traditional Portuguese"!! Of course I was a sucker and had to try it and I'm so glad I stopped by and did. The elder gentleman who served us was so sweet and although two donuts took about 10 minutes, it was so worth the wait because the hot donuts were the best. I highly recommend!!

Yelp
After a morning hike I stopped here for a reward. 10/10 recommend. Made fresh daily. Owner is super sweet

Yelp
Friendly & FRESH!!! They make 'em right in front of you! Hence piping hot. Nan is da guy! First time I had Malasadas with a hole in em, but it makes em Mo crunchy & crispy! ONOLICIOUS!

Yelp
I heard on one review that their malasadas was better than Leonard's, so I tried it. Very disappointed! No way it is true; maybe an insider post.

Yelp
Very good service, always ready when I pick up, I miss the old Agnes bakery, but I am glad the wagon is still available, not too many malasada places on the Windward side

Yelp
"Your love makes me strong, your hate makes me unstoppable." - Cristiano Ronaldo Olá! You don't have to be Cristiano Ronaldo to enjoy Portuguese Malasadas. Tho it will definitely help you dating international super models and have many hits on Lisbon Tinder, but all that matters is... it good? Oi! Agnes' Portuguese Bake Shop was our destination after a morning brunch in Kailua. Ironically I was in Lisbon, Portugal just a month earlier, and the twist was I didn't have any Malasadas in Portugal lol! Yet, here we stand in front of a Food Truck which is now the slimmed down version of the original Agnes! Today, only the signature Malasadas are available, so knowing how many Windward locals consider it better than Leonard's... I took the lead and ordered half a dozen for our group of four. $9 exact for half dozen. The clerk, could have been Portuguese, who knows nowadays, but I'm pretty sure he sensed my 5% Portuguese bursting at the seams lol. Jk jk. Yup, of course having a tad Portuguese all eyes on me, right? As I take my first bite of the piping hot Malasadas... Hmm, yet when I look up at my lady friends... all eyes are on the Malasadas their eating and not on this Portuguese lol! So much for Portuguese being hot, unless your name is Ronaldo. Oh well, I tried, Oi! :D And yes, by consensus it's our pick over Leonard's! Omggg! Each bite of these amazing Agnes' Malasadas was a party in my mouth! Crisp exterior with a nice fluffy interior. Not greasy at all and guilt-free of eating one more, but in all honesty, I personally could have eaten a couple more as each melted in my mouth! In the end, you don't have to be Cristiano or Team Portugal to truly appreciate Agnes' golden goodies! If you're wondering, are you? Malasadas have been in Hawai'i for well over a hundred years, Portuguese laborers from Madeira and the Azores immigrated to work the plantations. These immigrants brought their traditional foods, including a fried dough pastry called "Malasada." And a Hawaii legend was born... Come join me on IG: @eric_travel_guru

Yelp
Some of my favorite malasadas on the island, and definitely better than those pink boxes! I've never visited Agnes' truck, and my last visit was when they still operated their brick and mortar in 2016 before that shut down. I'm so happy they resumed business in a truck because their malasadas are so good! A coworker brought a box to work one morning. I looked and remembered Agnes hollows out their malasadas so that each bite is evenly crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and to avoid signs of raw dough. I'm so glad I got to try these the same morning my coworker bought them, and with hot coffee on the side! I didn't know what I was missing because my last visit to Agnes in 2016 was during a "malasada crawl" and I was too full to enjoy my first Agnes malasada. Hint: I wouldn't recommend a malasada crawl. Just fill yourself up with Agnes malasadas! If you're in Kailua or Lanikai, I highly recommend stopping by Agnes for fresh malasadas!

Yelp
Leonard's who? Gotta try this action when in Kailua. We got there at 1pm even though they were ready to close they still took our order. That's service. We love Leonard's but Agnes was way better

Yelp
Best malasadas in Hawaii hands-down. We've tried malasadas in several bakeries, restaurants, and food trucks across Hawaii and these are hands-down THE best the islands have to offer. The staff is great and treats everyone like ohana. The malasadas are super soft, made to order and always made with aloha. Seriously there are other places/lines on the island that are not worth it - but these are worth every second even if it's a bit off your path! They don't have seven hundred fillings and topping to choose from - just the ocasional special flavor. Otherwise it's just the OG sugar malasada executed perfectly every.single.time. Get some - and thank me later! Yummmmmm.

Yelp
Best malassadas on island!!! Everything is perfect from the softness of the dough to the crispness with each bite. The friendliest people work here and it's in a great location - parking can be tricky but it's worth the battle. 10 outa 10

Yelp
I remember going to this bakery in the 80's and remember all the choices that were available. On a recent trip my family mentioned they are now a malasada truck. We located them not far from where they used to be. I can't say they were anything special or good. We bought enough to try and glad we did. I love supporting local but the man running this place really need to be more excited about his business when locals come and want to connect with him. Part of customer loyalty is customer service.

Clarence D.

Yelp
Ambiance is lunch wagon in a parking lot which keeps cost low for buys. Amazing real Portuguese malasadas made while you wait. Service starts early in the morning for a light breakfast by great staff. Real ono food.

Kathy T.

Yelp
Mahalo Dom! I appreciate your hard work in keeping your ono malasadas alive and well in Kailua. It is truly a local comfort food enjoyed by young and old for many years. I miss the Agnes Bakery Shop but so grateful to see your cheerful face behind the food truck counter.
google avatar

Yelp
Brah, 'dis Malasada get puka inside. Das not one donut? We love this place and miss the full bakery so much (those chocolate covered donuts were gifts from God)! These pillowy morsels of goodness are served up piping hot and cooked to exactly the right temperature and texture. That first bite that lets out a puff of steam and a deliciously sweet smell is so wonderfully chewy, and has the just right combination of fluffiness and density. I would write more but I gotta go eat 'em before they cool down! Much mahalo for the many years of 'ono grindz!

Yelp
I couldn't leave without getting my malasada fix! While I've been a fan of Leonard's, I was excited to to visit the Agnes' truck. I used the address on Yelp, but it's better to use the address for "Manuheali'i," a clothing store where the truck is parked. Otherwise, it's across the small street from Central Pacific Bank. I was the only one in a line around noon, which was a bit surprising. The guy in the truck was really cool. The malasadas are $1.50+tax (pretty sure it was $1.57 with tax) and they accept cash and credit cards. They take ten minutes to make, but you get them as fresh as can be. Onto the taste... WOW! Their malasadas are incredible. They look like misshaped traditional donuts, but they have a beautiful color to them. They come out piping hot, but not so hot to scald your tongue. Sweet and crispy outside, hot and doughy inside. Pure bliss! They don't offer fillings, but it's great how it is! As far as comparing them to Leonard's, it's equally delightful. I'm not sure how they'd taste head to head, but I'd personally give the nod to Agnes', but my recency bias is strong!!!

Yelp
Second visit to Agnes' Portuguese Bake Shop. This is a food truck to which my understanding was a brick-n-mortar store. I went during the pandemic and again this morning late in the pandemic - wish I can say post-pandemic. Malasadas are best eaten hot & fresh and these are made upon order. Soft and fluffy with just enough granulated sugar sprinkled on top...every bit as good as a more famius bakery in town. They share a parking lot with a clothing boutique so there are a few stalls to park in.
google avatar

Yelp
Happened to be in Kailua having brunch with some ultra, cool peeps. The topic of bakeries came up and mentioned Agnes' Portuguese Bake Shop was nearby. So after brunch, we decided to walk on over there to get a sweet treat! Lucky us there was no line when we arrived. My twin ordered half a dozen malasadas for us to share (Thank you, twin!). It took a few minutes before the malasadas were ready, but they were piping hot (a very good thing) when we received them. We let our phones "eat first" and then dug in! Nothing beats biting into a freshly made malasadas. The sweet taste hits your palate as you enjoy the soft texture against your tongue while the sugar crystals slowly melt in your mouth. So good!!! And all that pleasure for only a $1.50 each?! What are you waiting for xD
google avatar

Joe B.

Yelp
After being shut out at Donut King (no raised glazed or sugar donuts), I went here for the first time. Had two malasadas and a cup of coffee, then drove down to Kailua Beach Park to sit on a bench for an ocean view breakfast. Both the malasadas and coffee were good. I liked the density and chewiness of the malasadas. Very satisfying. Also, the guy and gal working the truck were super nice. I'll be back.

Matt A.

Yelp
Best malasadas on the island. You can taste the quality in each bite and is distinctly better than the other over-hyped places on the island. Highly recommend stopping by.
google avatar

Shanah C.

Yelp
If you love hot fresh Malasadas and you've tried the competition (you know who I mean) you should give Agnes Portuguese a chance. The man who served us was so nice! Our order came out quickly and they were hot and fresh! Nice and fluffy inside.

Ace M.

Yelp
Was planning to stop by the bake shop if I was in the area one day. For over a year I haven't gone to Kailua so this week we planned to go from Waipahu to Kailua just to try the malasadas there. We were not disappointed. We tried the cinnamon and regular and loved both of them. Next time I won't have to plan to go there, I'm just going to get the best malasadas on the island. Take the drive, it's worth it.
google avatar

Yelp
The guy was super nice, their food truck is simple nothing flashy but it caught my eye! The malasadas Yahuuuum!

Rick V.

Yelp
Delicious , classic , definitely the best on island for Malasadas He sells by single, 6 or dozen I recommend dozen you will eat more than you think k and everyone appreciates them where ever you go especially if you go straight there while still warm

Yelp
On my agenda to try the four malasada places during my visit to Hawaii, Agnes was on my list and we made it a stop on our visit to the Windward side. Agnes is a malasadas truck located in Kailua. Following my trusty GPS, we found the truck at the parking lot of the Manuheali Store. The parking lot was empty and we parked right next to the truck. The menu is simple here. It's only malasadas rolled in granulated sugar and water, juice and soda. The malasadas are $1.50 each. We were the only one's there and we exchanged pleasantries with the owner. We asked about if he had other trucks and he asked where we were from, where we were staying, where we were heading off to, etc. We ordered four malasadas and he said it would be ready in about 10 minutes. Got our box of malasadas and brought it back to the car and it was time to try them out fresh out of the fryer. It's slightly smaller than the other malasadas, has a hole in the middle and they're all slightly different in shape and size. These malasadas are hand formed and fried. The malasadas had a nice crispy sugar coated exterior and the interior was not dense, but were soft and fluffy. Since they are smaller, you get a good bite of the crispy outer shell with each bite. We saved the other two to eat after our first beach stop about an hour later and they were still soft, fluffy and not greasy. Glad I got to try Agnes and got it checked off my list. If you like malasadas, it's a definite must stop if you're on the Windward side of the island.

Yelp
I was itching to try these donuts as I'm hardly in the Kailua area. I've driven by a few times before seeing the truck but they weren't open. Luckily I swung by when they weren't sold out and got a box of half a dozen of donuts. They looked like the Punahou carnival donuts so that was what I expected. I tried one and it was good but compared to the Punahou carnival ones I was a little let down. The batter reminded me of a mix between an andagi and malasada batter but on the chewier side. To be fair, I didn't try the donut until I drove back home so it may have been a factor but they were still warm. I'm hoping maybe they'll offer different coating options down the line or malasada sundaes? If you're on Kailua side and want something a little different from Leonard's or Pipeline Bakeshop, it might be worth a try. Just try to go early or they might sell out

Yelp
Things I'd rather do than pick up a phone to actually call someone: -pay a $10 "service fee" on an app to buy 1 item that only costs $5 -stand in line at the DMV without an appointment -be forced to watch back to back episodes of Bel-Air and She-Hulk The advice I got for going to Agnes' for MALASADAS though was to phone in my order ahead of time, which I reluctantly did, and guess what? These malasadas are so damn good that I'd happily pick up the phone with no dread to order again! Plus, more vindication came when we arrived and the guy told us he had just used the last of the batter on our order. Stylistically, Agnes' malasadas are of a different mold than the overly powdered sugar ones that leave tables under them looking like the scene of a Hollywood after party, or those super filled ones that erupt like a volcano with cream flowing out the instant you bite into them. I'd classify these as more similar to something at a premium pastry shop. No fillers needed. Crispy on the outside, hot and fresh inside. I'd also call them best in class.

Yelp
I'm not ashamed to admit I almost cried when I first heard Agnes' Portuguese Bake Shop closed during the pandemic. It's so great that they were able to come back, albeit in Food Truck form. So great, because to me, these are the best malasadas. Don't get me wrong, I've got nothing against Leonard's malasadas. Love me some Leonard's. But I love Agnes's malasadas much, much more. See, the two malasadas are quite different. To me, Leonard's are lighter. They're more like a traditional raised donut in texture. In contrast, Agnes' malasadas are heavier, and come out looking much darker than Leonard's. They seem denser, more like a cake donut than a raised donut. It's a denser, darker malasada here. And that's just how I like them. It's kind of a bummer that Agnes doesn't offer a custard filled malasada. But even without a custard filled malasada on the menu, Agnes' Portuguese Bake Shop is my favorite place to enjoy some freshly fried goodness. Mikey C says: roll me another one, just like the other one.

Yelp
tip: call ahead to order since theyre made fresh to order, its best to call ahead, that way you dont have to wait a long time when you get there. i preordered (2) malasadas, and the guy told me 10-13min. by the time i drove there from castle hospital & paid, all he had to do was coat them and i was on my way! slightly smaller than some other malasadas. they are abnormal shaped with the hole in the middle. so you know theyre formed by hand. hole in the middle also helps for even cooking. crunchy on the outside, yet a bit on the chewier side. they are still pretty light and fluffy though. they are definitely not the heavier dense ones. if i was on this side, and craving a malasada, i would definitely stop by here. i would not however, drive all the way out that side just to get one. appreciate that you can pay with credit card, unlike some other mobile malasada places. wish they were open on sundays though, since thats the only day of the week im usually on that side (to check out the farmers market)

Jacob H.

Yelp
The best malasadas on the island HANDS DOWN if you are ever in Kailua, you HAVE to stop by the best malasada truck on the island. These are handcrafted, delicious, and not overly oily. The staff is always friendly and they have cold drinks too. There's a little table to eat at outside or you can take them to go on the way to the beach.
google avatar

Dragon H.

Yelp
Only food truck, but every batch prepared fresh, brought to share with coworkers, some are from Mainland but most didn't know about Agnes Bakery awesome malasadas!,Some local folks tried and commented they tasted much better than Leonard's, that's a great complement!, Their truck is parked on the side at Manuhealii's lot, right across from Kapalawai, a GEM! Most definitely!

Yelp
It took me three tries to finally get my hands on these adorable little malasadas from Agne's' Portuguese Bake Shop in Kailua! Every time I attempted to get them, they were either closed or sold out lol It took all the willpower in me to just order one, especially after seeing the people around me order 1/2-1 dozen each haha They make them fresh so the guy said it would be about 10-15 minutes. at the 12 minute mark I went back, and it was waiting for me. They're fairly small but since I had just eaten a meal prior, it was the perfect size. It was piping hot and fresh - I loved the fluffy texture of it but think it was a little more dense than I'm used to.

Keahi L.

Yelp
Located in Kailua. Love their portuguese malasadas. Not all the same size, slightly misshaped but still sweet and sugary. Getting the box of a dozen is perfect to bring to a potluck! Boxes are lined in foil so please dont microwave.

A Y.

Yelp
Agnes' makes the best malasadas on the island by a long shot. It's cool how each donut has a unique shape because it is made the old school way by hand with care and aloha, unlike the other place that stamps 'em out like a cookie cutter. And the nicest people work there.

Yelp
Agnes's Portuguese Bake Shop Mobile Truck has som Ono-lishius made fresh, hot and mouth watering delicious Mallasadas. I only wish they made da kine with custard filling too!

Diana C.

Yelp
These malasadas are what I remember having growing up in Hawaii... The texture is perfect, a crisp crunch as you bite into the fried dough, with a light, fluffy, doughy center. The sweet sugar coating the outside of the dough ball hits your taste buds immediately setting off endorphins in your brain and the smooth, chewy center begs you to slow down and enjoy every delicious bite. They don't do fillings here. Malasadas never had fillings when I was growing up, just perfectly fried dough with some sugar. Agnes focuses on having fresh dough made of high quality ingredients that is fried to perfection with a simple coating of sugar made upon order. They have a few off menu coatings as well (cinnamon sugar and li-hing). If you care about high quality, small batch, fresh, and delicious - come to Agnes. You might not want to go anywhere else after you've had these! Thanks so much for making great malasadas! We'll be back next time I'm home!

Yelp
Deliciousssss. Fresh and hot, got half a dozen. Fluffy, sugary, but not too sweet. The perfect doughnut 100%

Yelp
Agnes' fried fresh malasadas on-site for our wedding dessert and they were phenomenal. The process of booking them was very low-key, no formal contract/invoice, no deposit required, minimal communication leading up to the wedding with us and our coordinator but it all went off without a hitch. The malasadas were incredible and everyone loved them!
google avatar

Christian D.

Yelp
This place was great. It's not Leonard's, but in a way it was a little bit more satisfying. Let me explain, though these malasadas don't have cinnamon and filling, the outside of the malasada had some crispy spots that gave the donut a crunch. The inside was still fluffy and soft, while the sugar gave it a satisfying sweetness without overwhelming your senses. The crunch was not a major component of the exterior, but it did change the texture enough to not seem like a giant puffball. Overall, they were delicious and satisfying. The person working the truck was also very nice and gave great customer service. Whether eating these in your car or at the beach, you can't go wrong.

Yelp
HO.LEE.FUKKK. Agnes' malasadas is the Playboy of dough porn. I mean, I don't know porn, but I think Playboy is still very good right? Basically, Agnes' is what wet dreams are made of. The malasadas are very similar to Punahou's and not at all like Leonards. And let me tell you, I liked Leonard's just fine, until I had Agnes'. Agnes' malasadas defy science - they're actually moist on the inside, but crispy on the outside. It's what french toast WISHES, in its wildest dreams, to be. You Have GOT to come here. But not too much, because they keep selling out early! I basically came here 1x a week for like two months. Me and Ian are on first name basis. I even got the last four one time b/c I'm a "regular". Pro-tip, you have to eat them RIGHT THEN. Fingers slightly burning, hunched over the bag in the parking lot. They are not as good as cold, and they definitely do not heat up well. Follow them on insta to make sure they haven't sold out, but typical hours have been 6AM-2 PM. I am a loyal, loyal fan/follower. I have driven from downtown JUST to Kailua for these. There and back. To eat malasadas and go home. To eat them while I am driving. I can't wait to see where the bakery goes, but I can't imagine that I would want to eat anything but these malasadas. I also left my dog home with a half dozen of these. She, a 15 lb fluff pupper, jumped the counter and downed some while I was away.

Ever since the original Agnes Portuguese Bake Shop closed down a few years ago in Kailua, I really thought the little malasadas with the hole in the middle were gone forever until............... Da FAMOUS Auntie - Nadine C. started to go to this little food truck like every freaking day, & posting up her deeeeeeeeeeeeelious morsel of malasada from Agnes Bake Shop. Aiyah! Now I got da Agnes Malasada on da mind!!!! Where was this food truck located? But of course in Kailua!!!! After seeing malasadas posted everyday from Nadine C., I started to have strong cravings for Agnes Malasadas again, so I figured the next time I'm in Kailua for work, I'd look for this food truck to get me my fix! Unfortunately for me, the few times that I was in Kailua for work, either things didn't workout for me as I got called away, or another time where I just plain couldn't find this food truck!!! DARN IT!!! Thanks to my foodie buddy - Nat N. who went to Agnes recently, after I saw her post, I had to ask her where this food truck was located? She in turned told me the easiest way to find this food truck was to look for this clothing store called - Manuhealii Inc., and you will find the Malasada truck sitting inside of the private parking lot. Sure enough, Nat N. was on da money!!! Like GOLD!!! Made my way to Kailua yesterday, as I was doing a job in the area...........easy to find, again, look for the Manuhealii clothing store. Upon walking up to the food truck, I placed my order with the friendly clerk, then I waited for a few minutes............ as the malasadas are made fresh to order. What can I say about the Malasadas???? The malasadas tasted exactly like the ones you would get from the original Agnes Bake shop!!! The Malasada had the hole in the middle, it had a slight crunch on the outside, and when you bite into it, the inside was soft & dense. Yes, this malasada is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay different from Leonards Bakery's malasada, but ya know what? There are different types of malasadas (the way it's made), and my honest opinion about all of this??? It's all good baby! I wouldn't turn down any malasadas! After all, you got all of this going for yourself when you eat a malasada - 1. Deep Frrrrrrried Goodness! 2. Sugar Galore! 3. Carbs up da Yin-Yang! 4. And probably a stern warning from my doc (after they pull my bloodwork), and she sees the high level of cholesterol & sugar in my blood! Buwahahahahaha! Anyways............one should never deprive yourself on one of da 808's fine delicacies! It's all about moderation baby!!! Remember now.............da Malasadas, you gotta eat 'em HOT!!!! Cold, da buggah not gonna taste as good. Oh, and by the way............the Agnes Malasada Food Truck is not strictly in Kailua (for you folks that don't know this). I was told by the friendly clerk that you must follow them on Instagram, as they will post where the truck will be located. The friendly clerk told me next week, da truck will be cruisin' da Kapolei area (just any FYI). Check 'em out gang! No can go wrong!!!!
