It was our second time in Menorca, and we know it won't be our last. But having stayed here, we may well keep coming back.
The hotel is very much rural, as the title 'agroturisme' would imply. However, this is a plus for us. The drive up the hill the first time emphasized the location. We were seeking quiet and calm, and Son Vives delivered wholeheartedly. Despite it being 'remote' the site has everything you may need from a hotel in the category. Our room was the smallest, in all likelyness, but for us that was just fine. Water pressure was amazing, the bed was comfortable and temperature was cozy even in the tail-end of summer.
Breakfast was delicious, the highlight is the grilled cheese, which you need to make sure and ask for, as it's made on-site. We got to meet the animals and have a nice chat with Tomeu, whose parents first settled the site years ago. The pool seemed unassuming on pictures but in real life it was excellent and we almost always had the deck for ourselves.
While clearly there were some staff around at all times, 'reception' or concierge availability is only available for half a day. I think prospective guests need to understand: this is a hotel that is also a working farm, the amenities are all there but there is a degree of self-service involved. We did not mind this at all, but some people might.
I would suggest you don't forget to do the short walk to the viewing point, it was a lovely spot to take in the island landscape.
