"Ah Cacao If you’re looking for the perfect coffee shop to do some people-watching and savor local flavors, Ah Cacao has three open-air locations along Playa’s bustling 5th Avenue. Each venue offers outdoor seating where you can sip Mexican hot chocolate and sample delicious desserts alongside a shop selling a variety of artisanal chocolate items. Thanks to its innovative recipes, great locations, and comfortable, relaxed setting, the brand has become a popular meeting spot for locals. The products served and sold at Ah Cacao are made right in the city, with ingredients grown on nearby plantations."

If you’re a fan of rich, high-quality drinks, you have to try both their Caffè Mocha and the Sipping Chocolate. It’s rare to find a spot that masters both coffee and pure cacao so well. The Mocha: Perfectly balanced. The espresso has a great kick, but the silky steamed milk and chocolate syrup make it incredibly smooth. The latte art on top was a beautiful touch! It’s the perfect "comfort drink" for a long afternoon. The Sipping Chocolate: This is next-level. It’s not your average hot cocoa; it’s thick, dark, and glossy—almost like a liquid truffle in a cup. It is incredibly intense and meant to be savored slowly.

This place is a gem. The chocolate drinks are rich and smooth, the coffee is strong, and everything feels fresh. I had the chocolate frappe and a brownie—both were amazing. You can taste the quality in every bite. The vibe is chill and the staff is super friendly. I came back three times in one week. Definitely a must-visit spot if you’re in Playa!

We are from a city that has incredible coffee, everywhere, on every block. We also have a fancy vintage Italian machine and make our own. We’ve taken classes on coffee to learn how to make it properly. We like a good strong americano to start our day, Ah Cacao was the only shop that hit with us. Strong, bold, but still smooth. Fantastic cup of coffee. Other places seem to use massive cups and your espresso based beverages are watered down because of it. Some other shops have potential, but Ah Cacao is the only one that has it down correctly. We liked it so much we tried their house special, a sort of iced mocha. It was amazing and we now get one as our second coffee on our daily walk to the beach. Their chocolate is insanely good (obviously). It’s not the cheapest coffee, but it’s the best and that’s what we want. Hope this review helps

Ah Cacao is a Mexican chain of very nice cafes offering amazing hot cocoa (or cold if you prefer). They of course have other drinks to offer - coffees or teas, and also, you can find here various cakes to choose from to accompany your drink. I especially recommend the brownies. You can also buy here souvenirs - like hand made chocolates or coffee beans. Very cosy place which I recommend to visit.

very good coffee and happy staff always meet for a great cup of coffee in the morning! Would highly recommend this coffee shop and got lucky that it’s October as the pan de muerte is fresh and amazing!

We've already visited Ah Cacao 4 times (within 5 days). It's a nice place with delicious coffee + desserts (the cheesecake & the carrot cake are just yummy)! Unfortunately, the barrista this morning was really rude. He started an argument out of nowhere! Much better staff in the Ah Cacao at "5ta Avenida con calle 2 Centro".

After 2.5 months, I finally treated myself to a decadent Mayan Chocolate Frappe at Ah Cacao Café. The chocolate was rich with a hint of spicy 🌶️ chili and not overly sweet. I ordered mine with Coconut 🥥 milk and it was a perfect tropical treat. I sat inside which was wonderfully cool.
